Ce programme s’adresse aux artistes professionnels et de la relève désirant explorer les nouvelles avenues qui allient les techniques numériques et ou traditionnelles de l’estampe originale. Les artistes auront la possibilité de créer un corpus d’oeuvres ou de réaliser une édition dans l’une ou l’autre des techniques pratiquées à Zocalo sur une période d’une à trois semaines. Zocalo offre l’accès à des espaces de travail permettant la réalisation d’estampes en impression numérique, en relief et en creux.

La sélection est faite par les membres de notre Conseil d’administration selon les critères d’évaluation suivants :

* L’intérêt et la pertinence du projet face à la notion de développement des nouveaux langages et des supports non traditionnels dans le médium de l’estampe
* La faisabilité du projet en fonction du budget et des ressources offerts par Zocalo

Conditions :

* Cachet de production de 250 $
* Accès aux ateliers de production pendant 2 mois
* 25 heures d’assistance technique d’une valeur de 600 $
* Matériel jusqu’à concurrence de 100 $
* Carte de membre pour l’année en cours
* Prévoir une rencontre de deux heures pour une discussion avec les membres de l’atelier à la fin de la résidence
* Une à deux oeuvres (selon le format) devront être déposés à l’atelier

An Open Call For Submissions

We are seeking submissions for the ‘(LONDON CONTEMPORARY ARTS) FESTIVAL’ to be held at various sites within the Greater London area from 14th May to 5th June 2009. National Call to Artists

This Request for Information is issued by the City of Coquitlam.  Coquitlam is seeking Statement of Qualifications from artists with demonstrated experience in the field of public art, ability to work collaboratively in a design team environment and work within set budgets and construction schedules.

Maillardville, named for Father Maillard, a young Oblate from France, was more than just a French-Canadian enclave in Western Canada. It was a vibrant community, the largest Francophone centre west of Manitoba, and the seed for the future growth of Coquitlam.

While the passing of time has diluted the use of the French language in BC, it is still heard on the streets and in the homes on the south slope of Coquitlam. Maillardville’s past is recognized in street names that honour early pioneers and in local redevelopments which reflect its French-Canadian heritage. Taken from the City of Coquitlam web site.

The intent of this project is to honour the francophone involvement in Coquitlam’s heritage by placing a significant piece of public artwork in the Maillardville neighbourhood to give pride of place and to educate and inform.

Toronto Sculpture Garden

The Toronto Sculpture Garden has been a leader in Canada in the
commissioning of contemporary sculpture since it opened in 1981. Located
in an urban park in the downtown core, it serves as a testing ground for
artists to explore public space and to address issues of urban context,
materials and scale.

BACKGROUND:

The TSG is a non-collecting institution that is unique in its
partnership between the City of Toronto, which owns and operates the
site as a city park, and the Louis L. Odette Family, benefactors who
created the non-profit L.L.O. Sculpture Garden Foundation which funds
and administers the exhibitions. Exhibitions are selected by an Art
Advisory Board working with the director, Rina Greer.

Newly commissioned work becomes property of the artist and may
be offered for sale after the conclusion of the exhibition.

PROPOSALS:

The TSG’s Art Advisory Board meets three times a year to review
specific proposals.  Preference is given to new work that responds to
the site; only in exceptional cases will existing work be considered. We
are currently looking for exhibitions for May 2010 and beyond.
Deadlines are each year on January 15, May 15 and September 15.

Proposals require:

*    Drawing(s) showing dimensions and materials and the location of
the work on the site.
*    Brief statement of Theme
*    Budget showing materials, installation/removal, transportation,
and critical costs

Pacific Cinémathèque and curator Heather Haley are seeking videopoem submissions from around the world for the annual Visible Verse screening and performance poetry celebration. SEE THE VOICE: Visible Verse is North America’s sustaining venue for the presentation of new and artistically significant poetry video and film.

Official guidelines:

* Visible Verse seeks videopoems, with a 15 minutes maximum duration.
* Either official language of Canada is acceptable, though if the video is in French, an English-dubbed or-subtitled version is required for consideration. Videos may originate in any part of the world, however.
* Works will be judged on true literary merit. The ideal videopoem is a wedding of word and image, the voice seen as well as heard.
* Please, do not send documentaries, as they are outside the featured genre.
* Videopoem producers should provide a brief bio, full name, and contact information in a cover letter. There is no official application form nor entry fee.

Eyelevel Gallery | 35 Days of Non-Organized Art

**First Come First Serve!**

Eyelevel Gallery invites emerging and established artists of all
disciplines to participate in an upcoming project called 35 Days of
Non-Organized Art. In celebration of its 35th anniversary, Eyelevel Gallery
will open its gallery space to anyone who wants to present an exhibition,
performance, lecture, workshop, or any other kind of art-related event from
April 23-May 27 2009. The gallery encourages local as well as national and
international participation. For those are not in Halifax or who can’t
physically be in the gallery, we can help to facilitate projects that take
place from a remote location. We also welcome art collaborations and
collectives as well as conceptual or experimental projects that may be
conducted by another individual and if possible, we can provide a volunteer
to carry out the activity.

The aim of this project is to provide public access to the gallery and to
provide an environment that supports creative, spontaneous and interactive
artistic production. For the duration of the 35 Days project, the gallery
will not “organize” any of these events and will instead, serve to offer
its space for people to congregate and to “self-organize” art-related
activities. Space will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis and
participants can reserve the gallery for 1-3 days.

35 Days of Non-organized art will be presented as part of Unplugged, a
month long experiment in low-tech and creative administration. We urge
artists who are participating in the 35 Days of Non-organized Art project,
to create works that respond to this idea of unplugging and to create works
that do not use any form of post-1974 technology or media.

Send us a letter or illustrated text (no emails) describing what you would
like to present and what day(s) (between April 23-May 27) you would like to
reserve the gallery for your project.

You may send this letter by mail or you can drop by the gallery in person.
Do not send support material, or a CV or anything other than a half-one
page letter describing your project.

Saint Jean, Nouveau-Brunswick: La Galerie Tiers-espace est à la recherche de projets d’expositions, d’événements ou de performances pour sa programmation 2009-2010. Les projets soumis doivent pouvoir aisément s’adapter à un parc public, un terrain vacant, un couloir, un édifice désaffecté ou encore une vitrine de magasin abandonnée. Afin de respecter son mandat visant sortir l’art de la galerie traditionnelle pour l’insérer dans des lieux insuités, Tiers-espace est à la recherche de projets de diffusion, de performance, d’intervention ou de tout autre proposition qui réinvente la notion d’exposition et qui explore l’espace entre les sphères publique et privée.

> RESSOURCES TECHNIQUES

La Galrie Tiers-espace s’incarne parfois dans un espace vitrine dont les dimensions sont approximativement de 5 pieds de profondeur par 10 pieds de hauteur par 10 pieds de largeuront. Il lui arrive par ailleurs de trouver refuge dans un petit bureau ou encore dans une galerie exigüe située au bout d’un couloir étroit dans un centre communautaire dévoué à la diffusion des arts. Parfois, la galerie s’insinue dans la vitrine du magasin d’aubaines The Bargain! Shop, en plein coeur de la rue principale de la haute-ville. En somme: proposez-nous un projet, nous lui trouverons un lieu de diffusion.

Tiers-espace est équipé pour la présentation de DVD (un seul canal) sur des écrans de différents formats issus de différentes époques ou encore à l’aide d’un vidéoprojecteur. Nos équipements sonores consistent en une chaîne stéréo usagée, des enceintes de plastique et un casque d’écoute lui aussi en plastique. La galerie fera tout ce qui lui est possible pour soutenir les artistes choisis dans l’inégration de leur projet dans la communauté – rencontres, accompagnements, hébergement, sorties arrosées ou non, voire utilisation de téléphone cellulaire avec messagerie texte. Tiers-espace rémunère les artistes avec un droit qui respecte – ou à une cenne près – les recommandations émises par l’organisme de défense des droits des artistes CARFAC.

monument de la Marine canadienne

La Marine canadienne désire édifier un monument national à Ottawa afin de rendre hommage aux Canadiennes et aux Canadiens qui portent l’uniforme de la Marine qui ont servi, servent ou serviront leur pays. Le monument, qui sera dévoilé en mai 2011, sera situé au débarcadère de Richmond, en plein cœur de la capitale du Canada.

La Commission de la capitale nationale, en partenariat avec la Marine canadienne, invite les équipes d’artistes, d’architectes-paysagistes, d’architectes et/ou de concepteurs-paysagistes professionnels à soumettre leurs titres de compétences et des exemples de leurs expériences pour la première phase du concours, lequel en comptera deux.

Un jury de renom international, composé de : Mme Malaka Ackaoui, architecte-paysagiste, Mme Laura Brandon, conservatrice d’art et historienne; M. Joe Fafard, artiste; capitaine (Marine) K.J. Pickford, représentant de la Marine canadienne; M. Don Vaughan, architecte-paysagiste, choisira jusqu’à cinq équipes de design finalistes.

Roadside Attractions is an artist-run storefront window space
created and maintained by WeSee Inc. The space is used for
monthly, site-specific installations/visual art projects and is
absolutely free.

Submission proposals may be in any media (including video
and new media) with the provision that it is suited to the
confines of the space, the exception being two-dimensional
work that may be better suited for wall or easel presentation.

We place postings for the installation in various media listings.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: ARCHITECTURE

The Visual Arts Week Society is seeking architecture-related proposals for the 18th incarnation of Artcity Festival, September 4th to 13th, 2009. The festival showcases interactive, performative, and experimental works in all media, with a mandate to show new and site-specific pieces in dynamic, outdoor environments.

Submission Procedure:

One project will be selected for execution as part of Artcity Festival 2009. The winner will receive CARFAC artist and production fees to implement/construct the idea. Proposals are selected through a peer review process by a panel consisting of professional artists, architects, and critics. Proposals will be selected based on consideration of the following criteria: artistic merit of the proposed project, fit with the Artcity mandate, and the ability of Artcity to provide appropriate space/support for the project. Festival Express

In 1970, Janis Joplin, The Band, The Grateful Dead and a crew of other unruly musicians boarded a Canadian Pacific Railway train for five days with the intention of spreading their free-spirited lifestyle and musical stylings across the land. The rest is history. We acknowledge the idea that rock music and youth culture can act as catalysts for social change, and posit that contemporary art and design can use zeitgeist/streetwise/hedonistic tactics for the same productive ends. This is an opportunity to design a place that provokes interaction, dialogue and experience. This is an opportunity to shove all things rad in the face of all things not rad. This is art as beauty, freedom, thought, shock, or any such delight that we hold sacred.

We are seeking proposals for temporary architectural installations that address:

* a “township” or multiple structure theme
* the nomadic nature of Artcity festival
* the utopian nature of outdoor rock music festivals
* the need for a space/structure where the public can congregate en masse, enjoy, and be challenged.

Please submit ALL of the following:

1. An application form available at www.artcityfestival.com/architects-call-2009

2. A detailed project proposal (maximum 2 pages), including concept, working methods, duration, material and transportation needs. People not familiar with Calgary or the festival are encouraged to contact Artcity in advance to discuss ideas.

3. A current artist’s statement, maximum 1 page.

4. A current Curriculum Vitae, maximum 3 pages: Describe your artistic background (e.g. education, grants, scholarships or awards received, professional status, previous exhibitions or performances, commissions, professional memberships, articles, etc.)

5.
 Support materials, no originals please. Include 1 of the following:

* up to 15 RGB format jpgs, 1200 pixels on the longest side, maximum 5MB each. Your support images are NOT printed; they are reviewed using a standard data projector and laptop computer. It is to your disadvantage to include extremely high-resolution files that cannot be viewed on single computer screen. We recommend 72 dpi resolution.
* up to 8 minutes of video footage* in DVD NTSC format, or .mov file on CD-R/DVD-R. *Please note that all submissions including video and/or audio materials MUST be mailed in hard copy to the Artcity P.O. Box. The insurable value of your preview material is equivalent to the disk it is copied on. Emailed or uploaded video submissions will not be accepted.

* Applicants also have the option to submit press clippings, reviews, and exhibition essay materials. These are optional, and should only be provided if they relate directly to your proposal.
* Please ensure that your support material is compatible with Mac OS. Please do NOT send Powerpoint presentations, slides, printed images, or VHS tapes as these will not be reviewed.

6. A brief description of support material, including title, medium, year of completion, and numbered in sequence as applicable.

7. A self-addressed sufficiently stamped envelope (if you wish to have your materials returned to you). Due to excessive costs for the Festival, your submission materials will not be returned without one. Postage must be valid for mailing from within Canada, ie, the package must have Canadian stamps.

TIPS:

Your support images are NOT printed; they are reviewed using a standard data projector and laptop computer. It is to your disadvantage to include extremely high-resolution files that cannot be viewed on single computer screen. We recommend 72 dpi.

Proposals should be clearly written in English or French, typed on 8.5″ x 11″ paper in black ink with a minimum 12-point font. Do not staple or bind your materials in any way.

When building your proposal, please keep in mind that each jury member reviews a photocopy of your written materials before they view your visual support material. It is to your advantage to provide written materials that are easily readable after being photocopied.

Make sure that your name and the title of your project is clearly marked on each part of your submission, including all of your support material(s).

Due to the large volume of submissions, incomplete proposals or those that exceed the maximum number of requested pages/support material will not be reviewed.

The postmark deadline for hard copy materials is April 17th, 2009. Submission forms and all other digitally submitted materials must be received by 17:30 Mountain Standard Time, April 17th, 2009.

Artcity pays CARFAC exhibition fees and additionally provides artists with production allowances. The festival welcomes proposals from producers from all cultural backgrounds and sociopolitical associations.

Call for Artist in Residence Program
Arcus Project 2009
Ibaraki, Japan

The Artist-in-residence program of ARCUS Project which aims to
support the artistic activities of emerging artists was launched in 1995
by Ibaraki Prefecture Government as its main organizer. In its 14 years
history, ARCUS has invited 71 artists from 24 countries / regions, and
supported their artistic projects and researches during the residence. A
number of previous residency artists are now known as cutting edge
artists in international art scene.

For the residency program in 2009, ARCUS calls the artist who
can think radically, experiment innovative ideas, and work with
progressive modes of expression.

Period of Residency:
*    Late August through December 09
*    3 month minimum, 4 month maximum

Program provides:
*    Studio
*    Accommodation
*    Transportation fee fro travel to Japan
*    Allowance of $2500. CDN per month
*    Insurance
*    Studio Office Support
