des manoeuvres épiques, la construction d’utopies, ou en dévoilant un entre-lieu ?

L’ENVERS DE L’ENDROIT, c’est une pensée artistique perpétuellement en mouvement qui, pourtant, ne tourne pas en rond.
C’est à partir de ces prémices de création que nous invitons les artistes en art actuel à venir explorer les zones
sensibles du territoire humain et géographique dans le contexte d’une résidence de cinq semaines.
RÉSIDENCE + ART INFILTRANT
Notre concept de résidence se caractérise par une approche d’art infiltrant qui situe la pratique de l’art actuel dans un rapport
de proximité à la collectivité et dans des espaces non dédiés à l’art. Ce concept de résidence réunit prospection, production,
diffusion, implication comme autant d’instruments de fécondité d’un tremplin d’expérimentation qui engage le centre et les
artistes dans une relation de co-production en offrant aux artistes un accompagnement professionnel individualisé tant sur le
plan artistique, que technique et logistique.
Un premier séjour de prospection d’une semaine permet de clarifier le contexte, de faire un premier repérage territorial guidé
et d’évaluer la faisabilité d’un projet et sa pertinence. À partir de là, s’engage un processus opérationnel qui s’échelonne sur
plusieurs mois (évaluation critique de l’intention artistique, planification, médiation, logistique, technique, etc.). Lorsque les
autorisations requises et les confirmations de collaborations sont obtenues, l’artiste revient séjourner pour une période d’un
mois qui peut se moduler en deux ou trois séjours, dépendant des stratégies de mise en œuvre et des besoins logistiques de la
proposition.
Les modalités de présentation sont déterminées par l’approche disciplinaire (installation in situ, in socius, performance, manœuvre,
intervention urbaine, etc.). Ce qui implique souplesse de part et d’autre, mais aussi rigueur et éthique en regard du fait que nous
travaillons avec des publics non captifs ou des communautés non-initiées appelées à vivre une expérience de collaboration inusitée.
La présentation publique d’une oeuvre d’art infiltrant demeure l’objectif de chaque résidence d’artiste.
Toutes les saisons sont à explorer : hiver, printemps, été, automne.
ART INFILTRANT
Nous entendons par art infiltrant, des pratiques d’art qui opèrent à même le réel par un investissement d’énergie dans le corps
social. Les processus de l’art infiltrant privilégient une approche constructive et ouverte, mettant à profit des compétences qui ne
relèvent pas exclusivement du champ artistique. À travers une logique de l’apprivoisement, ces pratiques participent à immiscer
l’art dans différentes sphères du quotidien.

:: Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal lance son appel de commissaire invité pour la 12e édition de sa biennale internationale de photographie contemporaine qui se tiendra en septembre 2011::
Depuis 1989, à tous les deux ans, Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal produit un événement culturel international, arrimé sur les enjeux contemporains reliés à la photographie. Avec ses expositions, sa publication et son colloque, la biennale sert de catalyseur aux artistes, aux spécialistes de l’image et au grand public.
L’événement vise à promouvoir les diverses tendances de la photographie contemporaine auprès d’un large public en concrétisant des échanges internationaux entre les photographes, le public, les conservateurs, les commissaires, les médias et les collectionneurs. Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal travaille de concert avec une grande diversité de partenaires incluant des artistes, des musées, des galeries universitaires, des centres d’artistes pour présenter une série d’expositions solos réparties à travers la ville transformant ainsi Montréal en une vaste exposition de groupe, à la fois cohérente et stimulante, autour d’un concept phare.
Depuis 2003, pour chacune des éditions de sa biennale, Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal confie l’élaboration d’une nouvelle thématique à un commissaire invité. Toutes les expositions, le colloque et la publication sont conçus autour d’un concept unique. (100 mots), ainsi que l’adresse postale et le courriel de l’auteur.
Les propositions non liées aux dossiers (critiques, essais et analyses sur différents sujets en art
actuel) sont aussi bienvenues (tombée : 10 septembre, 10 janvier et 15 avril de chaque année).
Sabotage
Après une année passée sous le signe du déchet, de la fragilité et de la disparition, il nous est
apparu impératif de porter notre réflexion en amont de ces nombreux effacements de l’objet, à
savoir non plus comment il tendait à se transformer mais plutôt sur ce qui en avait accéléré la
désintégration, en questionnant les moyens utilisés et les motifs sous-tendant de telles pratiques.
En ce sens, il nous a paru opportun de proposer aux auteurs de réfléchir sur l’idée du sabotage
artistique. Dans ce prochain dossier, esse souhaite publier des analyses critiques sur des
démarches artistiques ayant comme dessein de perturber tant les systèmes établis que l’ordre
public, que ce soit par le recours au sabordage, à la contamination, au parasitage ou encore à
l’infiltration. Ainsi, si certains artistes semblent lorgner du côté de l’illégalité, d’autres
choisissent de saborder leurs propres projets ou de s’immiscer dans ceux des autres, créant ainsi
un jugement de valeur sur la qualité artistique d’une oeuvre. Il y a aussi ceux qui s’intéressent aux
formes de paranoïa de notre société et en détournent les dispositifs, en particulier les systèmes
de surveillance par caméra et les réseaux sociaux qui s’approprient nos informations
personnelles. Nous cherchons à mieux saisir ces pratiques non éthiques, illégales, souvent à
caractère politique, voire anarchiste, qui sèment le chaos dans une visée purement artistique,
dont la force de frappe résiderait dans leur capacité à critiquer les discours établis et leurs
succédanés. esse souhaite mettre en lumière la nécessité de ces pratiques qui délibérément
affectent les différents systèmes, dont celui de l’art, pour mieux en montrer les failles, et peutêtre
même éveiller les consciences.

L’Association acadienne des artistes professionnel.le.s du Nouveau-Brunswick (AAAPNB) invite les artistes de l’Acadie à fournir des photos d’œuvres d’arts et de diverses productions artistiques acadiennes du Nouveau-Brunswick qui pourraient être publiées dans les documents suivants :
• la Stratégie globale pour l’intégration des arts et de la culture dans la société acadienne au Nouveau-Brunswick issue des États généraux de arts et de la culture;
• la Planification stratégique de l’Association acadienne des artistes professionnel.le.s du Nouveau-Brunswick;
• le site web de l’Association acadienne des artistes professionnel.le.s du Nouveau-Brunswick ou celui des États généraux des arts et de la culture.
L’AAPNB cherche des photos de toutes les disciplines artistiques dont des :
– photos d’œuvres d’artistes visuels (peintures, sculptures, etc);
– photos de personnages et de scénographies de productions théâtrales ;
– photos d’écrivains, d’écrivaines, de leurs œuvres (romans, recueils de poésie, essais, littérature jeunesse, etc.);

– être fournies électroniquement en version « JPEG » (300 dpi);
– être en noir et blanc ou en couleurs;
– être de très bonne qualité esthétique.
Les photos devront être accompagnées d’une courte description d’une ligne comprenant les éléments suivants :
– Le titre de l’œuvre ;
– Le nom de l’artiste et/ou du personnage et de la production ;
– Nom du photographe.
Un montant de 75$ sera versé pour chacune des photos retenues.
La date limite pour envoyer vos photos est le vendredi 29 mai 2009.
Un jury de pairs évaluera les photos et retiendra celles qui répondent aux critères établis.

The City of Calgary Public Art Program invites artists to submit an Expression of Interest for the inaugural Watermarks – A Celebration of the Bow River, taking place June through September 2010.
With historic Memorial Drive as the venue, Watermarks will celebrate the cultural, historic, social and environmental legacy of the Bow River. Artists will engage viewers through the creation of temporary public art interventions that draw people to the river, create remarkable experiences and present new perspectives on current environmental issues and ideas.
The inspiration for this celebration comes from the award winning Utilities and Environmental Protection (UEP) Department Public Art Plan – launched in January 2007. The Plan is founded on the principle that public art, in collaboration with other disciplines, can create remarkable places that encourage sustainability and stewardship of the environment.

INFLUX Jewellery Gallery invites artists to interpret the theme of “The Red Hot Show” for our autumn exhibition of contemporary art jewellery. Some like it Red, some like it Hot and some like it Red Hot. What is your preference? Show us the limit of your passion for art, for life, or for whatever revs you up and keeps your work alive. As always, quality, uniqueness of design, and innovation will be high on the priority list of accepted work.

The National Ornamental Metal Museum is currently accepting entries for two exciting exhibition opportunities, but you’ll have to hurry – the deadlines are just around the corner.
Iron: Twenty Ten, juried by Anna Fariello, Tom Joyce, Richard Quinnell and James Wallace, will offer a survey of the finest contemporary blacksmithing from around the world. The exhibition will open in May of 2010 at the Metal Museum and then travel to other institutions. Applications are due by May 29 at 5:00 pm.

The Metal Arts Guild of Canada invites you to participate in a juried national exhibition, “MAG 2067, CRAFTING THE FUTURE”.
MAG celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2007 and we wondered what it would be like to look 60 years into the future. As no one has a crystal ball we decided to give you several possible options of what Canada would be like in 2067. Did you know that in the year 2067 Canada is celebrating its bicentennial? It seems so far away but what changes to our economy, lifestyle and environment would affect our day to day living. How would the Metal Arts Guild have changed, evolved? For the call for entry we have developed five (5) possible timelines of the future in Canada in 2067. We invite you to pick one or two different scenarios and submit a piece or pieces, for each of the possible futures containing a significant amount of metal, but not excluding gemstones, pearls, glass, enamel etc., reflecting the theme and send the work along with an accompanying essay, 150 words or less, to explain your interpretation. The competition is open to all MAG members in good standing, both professional and student members. Each entry will be judged on its craftsmanship, design and responsiveness to the theme.

Artforum and e-flux are pleased to announce the launch of the Art & Education Papers archive, a new global platform for sharing and distributing research and knowledge in the field of contemporary art.
A&E Papers aims to exponentially widen the accessibility and reach of art historical and critical discourse by hosting a free online platform for the publication and exchange of texts on modern and contemporary art. Art historians, students, critics, and artists alike will have the opportunity to gain access to a far greater and more focused readership than conventional publishing allows, while also enjoying unlimited access to a deep archive of scholarly writing by and for Art & Education’s rapidly growing audience, which currently comprises an international network of more than 70,000 visual arts professionals and academics. At a time when the distribution of many forms of knowledge remains confined to small conferences, private seminars, or specialized academic journals, we believe that the broad distribution and exchange of ideas is key to increasing dialogue in all aspects of art production, criticism, and history.
In order to build the A&E Papers database, we are now calling for either new or already existing (published or unpublished, recent or older) scholarly articles from around the world. Texts should be comprehensive, research-based articles focusing on topics in 20th century and contemporary art. Texts may be culled from conference papers, seminar papers, dissertation chapters, etc. We ask that you submit pieces anywhere from 2,000 words to approximately 10,000 words and include a 100 word abstract and full contact information (or publication information for previously published texts). All submissions will be considered for publication on the website.

An annual offering, this third instalment of the Master Pieces project will continue to reveal the intensity and professionalism of students working towards their terminal academic degree in the field of art or design.
Often the most exceptional work comes out of these artists’ immersion in their culture of study and intellectual pursuit. Manifest’s goal, therefore, is to select works that in the truest sense of the word are contemporary masterpieces – works that set the standard of quality that the artist is expected to maintain throughout his or her professional career. The exhibit catalog for this show will serve as a visual documentation of these artists’ own benchmarks for years to come.

The premise for this program is to provide an individual or individuals the opportunity to develop a show idea from conception to fruition, with the support of the Gallery staff of The Clay Studio.

Humble Arts Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that works to advance the careers of emerging fine-art photographers by way of exhibition and publishing opportunities, limited-edition print sales, twice–annual artists grants, and educational programming.

el curador holandés independiente Harm Lux y con la participación de
la Red Iberoamericana de Residencias Independientes de Arte
Contemporáneo, está organizando una gira de un mes por Europa para
ocho (08) artistas sudamericanos del performance durante febrero 2010.
Dicha gira implicará una concentración de todos los artistas
participantes en Cusco, Perú, y la realización en Europa de
performances en espacios de arte y espacios no especializados,
acciones diseñadas y ejecutadas individual y colectivamente
(preferiblemente en relación con la sociopolítica y la
interculturalidad sudamericanas e incorporando a performistas y
público de las ciudades visitadas), conferencias y charlas sobre la
cultura y realidad sudamericana.
En el grupo de performistas en gira viajarán dos artistas peruanos y
seis de otras nacionalidades.
Uno de los artistas peruanos participantes será elegido entre quienes
respondan a esta convocatoria, y el segundo será elegido entre
aquellos que participaron en Cita a Ciegas, Primer Encuentro
Internacional de Performance organizado por Epicentro Cusco en la
ciudad de Cusco durante febrero 2009.

1.Carpeta comprimida conteniendo:
-Fotografías de tres performances realizadas por el autor (3 a 6 fotos

-Archivo Word conteniendo: 1) un relato de las tres performances y el
contexto en que se llevaron a cabo, 2) una carta de intención en la
que define las razones por las que le interesa participar en el tour
de performance, 3) un relato breve sobre su aproximación a la
performance y su trabajo durante los últimos cinco años (incluyendo
los nombres de los promotores, organizadores, etc. con los que ha
trabajado), 4) los nombres y correos electrónicos de tres personas que
le conozcan bien y puedan dar fe de sus cualidades profesionales y
personales, así como de la información dada por usted, 5) datos
legales (DNI, nombre completo, lugar y fecha de nacimiento) y formas
de contacto, y 6), carta compromiso de que, en caso de ser elegido,
cumplirá la programación completa del tour hasta su retorno al Perú,
desempeñándose durante éste en dedicación exclusiva y total a las
actividades profesionales que Epicentro Cusco programe en cada ciudad
visitada.

Criterios de selección:
1.Indispensables referencias comprobables de poseer una actitud
profesional y responsabilidad personal óptimas para viajar, convivir y
trabajar durante un mes en grupo y estrecha colaboración, de forma
armónica y altamente productiva.
2.Preferencia por quienes trabajen usualmente con independencia
respecto de los difusores y promotores artísticos dominantes en el
país.
3.Preferencia por quienes trabajen en relación a la sociopolítica y la
interculturalidad sudamericanas.
4.Preferencia por quienes estén acostumbrados a flexibilizar sus
proyectos en procesos de creación y discusión colectivos.
Responsables de realizar la selección:
La selección de los participantes, tanto peruanos como de otras
nacionalidades sudamericanas, está a cargo de Harm Lux, Emilio
Santisteban y Fernando Oballe.
Para el caso del participante peruano a ser elegido por esta
convocatoria, tomarán decisión basados en la documentación enviada por
el artista, y en comunicaciones sostenidas con las personas de
referencia por él indicadas.
Tomarán en cuenta, para el caso de la selección de artistas no
peruanos, las recomendaciones de los centros de residencia consultados
al interior de la Red Iberoamericana de Residencias Independientes de
Arte Contemporáneo, las sugerencias del Comité Consultivo de Epicentro
Cusco.
Para el caso de la selección del participante peruano que formó parte
de Cita a Ciegas 2009, se basarán en los niveles de profesionalismo y
colaboración activa demostrados durante el mencionado encuentro en
Cusco.
Igualmente, uno de los participantes sudamericanos no peruanos será
elegido entre quienes formaron parte de Cita a Ciegas 2009 en base a
los niveles de profesionalismo y colaboración activa demostrados
durante dicho encuentro.
Comunicación de la selección:
Epicentro Cusco entrará en contacto por correo electrónico con todos
aquellos que se presenten a esta convocatoria, comunicándoles el
nombre del artista elegido. Dicha comunicación se llevará a cabo entre
el 15 y el 30 de junio. En dicha ocasión se le solicitará al artista
elegido su CV completo documentado y un archivo amplio del registro de
su trabajo.
Consideraciones finales:
Los organizadores se hacen responsables del financiamiento de los
gastos de viaje y estadía del artista elegido. Los gastos de
tramitación de visas, así como los de producción de sus obras durante
el tour estarán enteramente a cargo del artista, o de los
auspiciadores que él mismo tenga a bien conseguir..

TRUCK Contemporary Art in Calgary invites you to consider the small things in life, with this call for miniature artwork. For the months of August and September of this year, we will be turning our +15 window space into a curio cabinet of sorts, compartmentalizing the space and providing a venue for small works.
Work submitted can be created in any medium (including new media and video works), with the only stipulation that is be able to fit into a small compartment sized 1′ wide by 1′ high, and 3′ deep.
Your submission should include:
* Proposal (maximum of 1 page): Clearly describe the proposed work. Provide details about any special requirements, including equipment needs.
* Artist Statement (maximum of 1 page): Contextualizes the work submitted within your artistic practice.
* Curriculum Vitae (maximum of 3 pages): Describe your artistic background (e.g. education, grants, scholarships or awards recieved, professional status, previous exhibitions or performances, commissions, professional memberships, articles, etc.)

ABOUT THE PROJECT:
We Made a Deal with the Devil is a touring art show that will
travel from Toronto (ON) to Halifax (NS), evolving over the
month of August, with scheduled stops in Peterborough (ON),
Kingston (ON), Ottawa (ON), Cornwall (ON), Merrickville (ON),
Wakefield (QC), Montreal (QC), Victoriaville (QC), Quebec City
(QC), Fredericton (NB), Moncton (NB), Sackville (NB) and
Pugwash (NS).
The We Made a Deal with the Devil theme was inspired by “La
Chasse-galerie” (also known as “The Flying Canoe”), a
cautionary French Canadian tale of a group of 19th-century
loggers who make a pact with the devil. The show combines
performance art, music, drawings and other creative projects for
an interactive exploration of folklore, collective memory,
mythmaking, adventure and risk.
We Made a Deal with the Devil is part of Collective Action
Expedition 09, a DIY community outreach initiative whose
main goals are: to document, engage and learn from people,
projects and creative communities involved in independent
and artist-run culture in Canada; to explore new opportunities
for refreshing cultural exchange and collaboration; to expose
new creative work to disparate audiences; and to allow each
member of our crew to develop a personal creative project
along the way.
Upon completion of our tour, back at our new Toronto art
space, Project 165, we will mount a multimedia document and
artist discussion of our experience on the road.

This is a call for lens-based artists working in film, video or animation, who deal with issues of inbetween-ness and hybridisation in the context of Asia. Simply Screen relates to the course Dichotomy, Diversity, Discourse: Art on the Pacific Rim of the 2009 Transart Institute Summer Residency. There will be a one-hour screening of ten pieces of selected works and a 30-minute discussion with the audience. Simply Screen aims to show a selection of new video works from international artists that will cover a wide range of ideas, including issues of immigration, industrialisation, globalisation and identity. The event will interrogate how people in Asia and the Asian diasporas see themselves within the complex presence of contemporary global culture; how artists respond to ideas of contemporary multiculturalism and trans-nationalism related to the context of Asia; how artists visualise the issues of war, memory, conflict, displacement, identity and the sense of belonging.
Rules:
1. All art works need to have been created since 2006.
2. Submissions must arrive by 15th June 2009.
3. Submissions will only be accepted on DVD.
4. Maximum length: 10 minutes (edits of longer works accepted).
5. Artists need to include their contact details, a short CV or biography, the details of the work, 3 still images and a statement (up to 200 words).
Award:
One full tuition scholarship of EUR 2400 will be offered to one of the chosen artists. The award recipient will be invited to attend the Transart Institute Summer Certificate program from July 25 – August 15, 2009 in Berlin. Travel and accommodation are not included in the award.

VisionTV Call for Indy Program Proposals with Interactive Web Angle – June 15
Canadian independent producers are invited to submit proposals for an original half-hour comedy-drama series to be broadcast by Vision TV in fall 2010.
The deadline for submissions is June 15, 2009.
VisionTV is seeking to commission a series of between six and 13 episodes. The proposed series must reflect Canada’s cultural diversity, and appeal to VisionTV’s core demographic of female-skewing viewers aged 50-plus.
The proposed budget range is $200,000 to $300,000 per episode. VisionTV says it hopes to see principal photography wrapped by the end of March 2010, with a view to broadcasting the completed series in the fall of that year.
The call for proposals also emphasizes the need for a Web-based interactive component that includes the streaming of full episodes online.
“We are eager to receive proposals from all regions of the country,” said Mark Prasuhn, Chief Operating Officer for VisionTV’s parent company S-VOX. “Although we are a small and independent broadcaster, we have a long track record of working collaboratively with independent producers from across Canada. We are deeply committed to supporting unique, original comedy and drama that speaks to the lives and experiences of our viewers, and that will add to the diversity of programming choices available on Canadian television.”

VisionTV’s first venture into original Canadian drama production, the family drama series SOUL, made its broadcast premiere in February 2009. The six-part series, which was produced for VisionTV by the independent production company Halifax Film, will be rebroadcast this summer on Monday nights at 9 p.m. ET, starting June 15.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS: Escapist Action
FADO Performance Art Centre (located in Toronto) is currently seeking proposals for live performances that consider trends of escapism during periods of economic crisis and recession. Unusual investment structures, increased unemployment rates and the panic ridden news media have everyone worried about a downturn in the economy and looking for distractions.
Recent news media reports have highlighted “recession time” trends including increased sales in alcohol, fast foods and cheap forms of entertainment. Business analysts are predicting that there will be a shift from high-cost forms of entertainment to low. It is believed that this development, in hard times, is due to individuals wanting to escape from their problems and troubles. During past recessions, people have turned to escapist forms of entertainment to help them feel better and more secure about their financial situation. In bad times, we still need our good times, maybe more than ever.
FADO Performance Art Centre is developing a series of new performance works considering the connection between recessions and escapism. Performances artists are invited to think about the following when submitting a proposal:
* Nesting at home with cheap entertainment (reality television, video games, the internet & cooking your own dinner);
* D.I.Y. Entertainment (creating your own entertainment systems);
* Stay-cations (vacationing at home);
* Sharing Economies (borrowing instead of buying);
* The never-ending sale;
* 2 for 1 special Increased cinema / movie sales and decreased attendance at live music and theatre performances.
Proposals should include a CV, bio, and description of proposed performance, images/video of past work, and any other relevant information.

Southern Alberta Art Gallery (Lethbridge): Call to Film & Video Artists, Deadline Sept. 28
Mark your calendars for the weekend of October 16 – 18 and join us at the historic Empress Theatre in Fort MacLeod for the inaugural Southern Alberta Film Festival. With the support of the Rural Alberta Development Fund, the Southern Alberta Art Gallery has teamed up with the Empress Theatre and cInéMAGINE to present a program of contemporary and alternative film together with workshops for would-be filmmakers and a juried screening of recently produced short film. Call for Film Submissions / Appel de dossiers
Filmmakers are invited to submit short films produced in the last 5 years.
Submissions should include a $10 shipping and handling fee, contact information, and an artist statement. Please submit all entries on DVD.
An honorarium will be awarded to those whose work is shown.

Screening
The top 5 films selected by a panel of jurors will be screened in a special showing during the Festival. The audience will be invited to vote on their favourite, the producer of the successful film will be presented with the Southern Alberta Film Festival’s Audience Favourite Award after the evening feature on Saturday, October 17th.
