La Galerie d’art Louise et Reuben-Cohen de l’Université de Moncton prépare
une exposition de groupe qui sera présentée à la galerie du Faouëdic, à
Lorient, du 3 au 12 août 2012 dans le cadre de l’Année de l’Acadie au 42e
Festival Interceltique de Lorient.

Le Festival Interceltique de Lorient (FIL) est un rassemblement international annuel de
créateurs, de représentants de la société civile et d’artistes des pays celtes. Chaque
année, un pays ou une région (Irlande, Écosse, Bretagne, Pays de Galles, Ile de Man,
Cornouailles, Australie, Galice, Asturies, Acadie) est mis à l’honneur comme cela fut le cas
pour l’Acadie en 2004 et à nouveau cette année. Le FIL est l’une des manifestations les
plus importantes d’Europe, avec un concept unique où se mêlent cultures régionales et
réseaux internationaux, et l’un des plus médiatisés de France. Annuellement, plus de 5000
artistes du monde entier convergent vers Lorient, en Bretagne, au mois d’août pour
participer à cet événement social d’envergure, tandis qu’environ 800 000 festivaliers
envahissent les rues pendant les dix jours que dure le festival.

En raison de considérations quant au transport, une attention
particulière sera portée aux projets vidéos et aux oeuvres nonencadrées
sur papier ou tissu.

Annonce de la période de mise en candidature pour le Concours de peintures canadiennes

La période de mise en candidature pour le Concours de peintures canadiennes est maintenant commencée. Des prix totalisant 55 000 $ seront accordés ; le lauréat national recevra 25 000 $, et les deux gagnants d’une mention honorable recevront un prix de 15 000 $ chacun.

Créé en 1999, le Concours de peintures canadiennes de RBC fait connaître des artistes canadiens émergents. Dans le cadre de ce concours parrainé par la Canadian Art Foundation, un jury composé de membres respectés du monde canadien des arts visuels sélectionnera cinq œuvres dans les régions de l’Est, de l’Ouest et du Centre du Canada, pour en arriver à un total de 15 finalistes.

Les noms des finalistes seront annoncés le 29 juin 2012 et ceux des gagnants seront dévoilés à l’occasion d’une réception qui aura lieu le 29 novembre 2012 à la galerie Power Plant de Toronto.

Le Programme d’art public de la Ville d’Ottawa lance un APPEL AUX ARTISTES POUR UN PROJET D’ART PUBLIC

Réfection de la rue Rideau

Dans le cadre de son Programme d’art public, la Ville d’Ottawa invite les artistes à soumettre leurs propositions pour l’élaboration, la conception et l’installation d’une œuvre d’art public commandée qui sera intégrée au projet de réfection de la rue Rideau.

L’appel aux artistes intégral, notamment admissibilité, exigences pour la conception du projet d’art public, site, critères de sélection, est sur le site Web de la Ville à ottawa.ca/lesarts.

Le budget total de cette commande est de 135 000 $, TVH en sus. Le budget du projet doit inclure tous les coûts exigés pour la conception, la fabrication et l’installation du projet.

EXMURO arts publics invite les artistes oeuvrant dans le domaine des arts visuels à soumettre des propositions en vue de lʼintégration dʼoeuvres 2D sur 18 colonnes lumineuses ceinturant le Jardin Saint-Roch de Québec.
Les oeuvres sélectionnées seront reproduites sur vinyle autocollant transparent ou translucide et installées sur les colonnes lumineuses pour une période dʼenviron un an. Les propositions doivent tenir comptes de la dimension des surfaces dʼexposition, de la forme de la structure et du fait que la surface est rétroéclairée.
Chaque colonne offre une surface dʼexposition de 52 x 100 pouces (132 X 254 cm) divisée en quatre segments de 13 x 100 pouces (33 X 254 cm). InterAccess Electronic Media Arts Centre is now accepting submissions for the 12th Annual Emerging Artists Exhibition.

GENERAL INFORMATION
InterAccess is dedicated to expanding the cultural space of technology. We fulfill our mandate through our internationally renowned exhibition programmes, media production studio, and innovative educational activities. A unique centre in the country, InterAccess has been at the forefront of electronic and new media arts in Canada since 1983.
Since its inception since 2001, InterAccess has organized an annual Emerging Artists Exhibition to showcase new media work by post-secondary students and recent graduates. Curated and organized by a selected emerging curator, this initiative offers young artists and curators professional experience and exposure. Past exhibitions have been reviewed by The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star and The National post. Former participating artists and curators have gone on to work and exhibit in such institutions as the Doris McCarthy Gallery at the University of Toronto, Xpace Gallery, The Banff Centre, Western Front, Trinity Square Video, Plug In Institute for Contemporary Art, Space Media Arts in London UK, FACT, Liverpool, and Transmediale in Berlin.
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS – EMERGING NEW MEDIA ARTISTS

This exhibition showcases electronic and new media art works by up-and-coming local and national future stars. Curated by our 2012 curatorial intern, Farah Yusuf, this exhibition provides emerging artists with professional exhibition experience and publicity.
We are accepting submissions from post-secondary upper-year students or recent graduates in Ontario and Canada. InterAccess welcomes new media works in the form of: sculpture, installation, video, audio, performance and interactive art. Web-based projects are also welcome. All works submitted must be exhibition-ready. Based on the works selected, the emerging curator will develop an exhibition related to the submissions received.
Each selected artist will receive CARFAC standard artist fees for participating. The exhibition will run from July 20 — August 18, 2012, with an opening reception on July 20th.
While we welcome proposals from outside of Ontario, please note that InterAccess cannot provide artist travel fees or cover the shipping of artwork. Participating artists will be responsible for timely transportation of their artwork to the gallery a week before the opening. Although the artist is chiefly responsible for installing his/her work, InterAccess will provide installation assistance and basic audio/video equipment.
SUBMISSIONS MUST INCLUDE:
* A project description and artist statement (1 page).
* A clear description of technical requirements. Please list materials provided by the artist, such as any software and audiovisual equipment, and materials expected from InterAccess, including software and/or hardware.
* A current CV (3 pages max).
* Artistic support material of proposed project/piece as well as previous works. (Images should be 72 dpi and 600×800. URLs can be submitted for large video works. Please see below for size restrictions for our digital submission process).

Ever wondered what an authentic experience felt like? You know—a feeling which you were reasonably sure was yours’ and yours’ alone; a gesture that didn’t inevitably collapse into a set of clichés; having an idea that didn’t already have a citation index attached to it; the premise that you, your thoughts and your actions were in any meaningful way unique? Yeah… me too. I keep thinking I must have had an authentic feeling at some point in my past—but not lately.
For the most part, I — like most artists I know — have come to an uneasy peace about the whole thing, figuring that “mediation is me,” and besides, authenticity is so twentieth-century anyway. But I have been haunted by a troubling aspect of this equation: if authenticity is now accepted in most quarters as a cultural construct rather that an existential truth, then how do we recognize sincerity anymore? Is sincerity, like its corollary authenticity, contingent on a world outside ourselves? And if so what does it all mean for individuals who produce work based on notions of intuition and self-expression?
If we claim that sincerity is a contested term in contemporary art practice, then to address these questions, we invite proposals from any perspective and in any media on the challenge of authenticity in this age.
John Kissick is trained as a painter and writer, was Chair of Painting and Critical Studies at Penn State University’s School of Visual Arts, Dean of the Faculty of Art at the Ontario College of Art & Design from 2000 to 2003 and for the last nine years, Director of the School of Fine Art and Music at the University of Guelph. Kissick’s exhibition record includes numerous solo exhibitions in Canada and abroad and his work has been included in a number of important survey exhibitions. A mid-career survey entitled John Kissick: A Nervous Decade, curated by Crystal Mowry, is currently touring Canada through 2012 and is accompanied by a major publication. John Kissick is also the author of a book, numerous catalogue essays and articles for periodicals. He is the author of Art: Context and Criticism (1992/6) and was editor of the Penn State Journal of Contemporary Criticism from 1990-1995. Two recent essays: “Elephants in the Room” for Canadian Art Magazine and “Disco and the Death Switch: Tales from Contemporary Abstraction” for Border Crossings were nominated for National Magazine Awards in 2009 and 2010. He is currently represented by Katzman Kamen Gallery, Galerie Bigue Art Contemporain, Michael Gibson Gallery and Peter Wilde Gallery in Berlin.

Canadian students abroad who are currently completing a Master’s
degree in Fine Arts.

Dazibao’s programming brochure features, on one side, its yearly
programming. The other side is dedicated to the work of an emerging
artist which is selected through the present call for proposals. With a
print-run of more than 7 000 copies, this poster will be distributed
locally, nationally and internationally, thus allowing the selected
photographic work to receive enormous exposure.

YOUR PROPOSAL MUST INCLUDE
1. a curriculum vitae
2. a maximum of 10 digital images
3. a brief artist statement (maximum 250 words)

Submissions must be postmarked no later than June 1st. If this date
falls on a weekend or statutory holiday, the deadline moves to the next

FIBREWORKS 2012
A biennial juried exhibition of Canadian fibre art
September 29 – November 9, 2012
CALL FOR ENTRY
Fibreworks, now in its 14th edition, is a biennial juried exhibition of contemporary Canadian fibre art. It is a showcase of the most current and versatile approaches to fibre as a medium in form and production. This exhibition is one of the largest group shows in Canada dedicated specifically to fibre based works and serves as a survey of the artists currently working in the medium. As many as 35 artists participate in the exhibition with works selected by an independent jury. All works selected for the exhibition are eligible for the Juror’s award and may be purchased by Cambridge Galleries as part of its permanent collection dedicated exclusively to Canadian fibre art.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
1. Open to all Canadian artists. Limit of 3 entries per artist. Deadline for entry is: Thursday, May 31, 2012 (postmarked).
2. Eligible works include any artwork where fibre or textile is the principle element. All work must have been completed by the artist within the last two years. The work must be of reasonable size, ready to install and available to ship within Canada.
3. Each entry may be represented by up to 3 images including details. Each image must be numbered and include the name of the artist and title of each artwork. Please submit images on CD, saved as RBG compatible JPEG files — image size: 1024 x 768 pixels, resolution: 72 dpi.
4. Please include a brief statement (150 words max.) describing each submitted artwork and a 1 page CV. Submissions will not be returned.
5. Download and complete in full Fibreworks Entry Form from www.cambridgegalleries.ca (PDF file can be found on the main page of the gallery website).
5. Final selections will be made at the discretion of the jurors. All decisions are final. Selected artists will be notified by August 15, 2012.
6. Finalists will receive an honourarium of $75 for each artwork selected. Shipping and insurance of the selected works is covered by Cambridge Galleries.
7. The Jurors’ Award will be announced at the opening reception on Saturday, September 29 at 2:30 pm.

PLATFORM announces a call for submissions for film + video in response to the theme of the palimpsest. A screening will be presented in conjunction with PLATFORM’s palimpsest year and will take place in the Artspace Building.

Taking our cue from the historical phenomenon of the palimpsest as a scroll or text that is written only to be erased in order to make room for the inscription of new ideas, PLATFORM is currently in a year-long investigation into how photography and its sister media, film and video, can act as contemporary palimpsests or re-writable texts. Winnipeg is a prairie city where you can see a snowstorm coming three days away. The flatness of our location holds with the possibility that we take in not only the periphery but also the past and future. palimpsest, should not be mistaken as a sentimental elucidation about the past. It explores a rhizomatic vision of past, present, and future in various simultaneous possibilities.

Public Art Management (PAM) is the public art project manager for a major downtown Toronto development project (the “Project”). As the first stage of the public art planning process, PAM is issuing this Call To Artists (“Call”) to initiate the first of a two-stage selection process to identify artists to work with the team in the development of outstanding public art works for this landmark complex in the Southcore Financial Centre.

The artwork program intends to commission distinctive, urban scale, meritorious works by exemplary Canadian and international artists for select locations within the Project. The artworks will reflect the best of contemporary art practice with an emphasis on seeking artists working in integrated new media and interactive works. The types of opportunities may include:

• A continuous, multi component interior work for an extensive public passage through the facility, which may or may not extend to the exterior of the project

• Work that engages the interior and exterior of the building creating a dialogue between inside and outside (may included suspended elements or projections and programmed elements in specific areas)

• A large free-standing wall element which stands in close proximity to the facade of the building in the driveway/roundabout, and can be read from both the interior and exterior. this may include a lighting element either from outside or within

• Glazing and/or lighting elements for a tentatively-proposed bridge

Professional artists are invited to submit their credentials for consideration by PAM. Artists who are experienced in creating large, permanent, urban scale works for interior and exterior locations and artists who have worked in collaborative projects are invited to enter.

In Stage 1, PAM is seeking artists to submit images and resumes only.

Artists may advance in the program based on a professional review of their qualifications, profile and past work. Future commissions will be awarded following a second stage, whereby artists are interviewed and concepts may be submitted.

Development Background and Description
GWL Realty Advisors on behalf of bcIMC Realty Corporation is developing 120 Bremner Blvd. and 75 Lower Simcoe Street, a landmark office tower and hotel/convention complex west of the recently completed 18 York development in the Southcore Financial Centre of the City of Toronto. The office tower (designed by KPMB Architects) resides on Bremner Blvd. with the hotel complex (designed by Page + Steele/IBI Group Architects) situated to the west, fronting on Simcoe Street. The complex will total 700,000 square feet of office space, 450,000 square feet of hotel/convention facilities and additional ancillary retail space.

The site is located directly south of the railway corridor and is at the centre of Toronto’s Southcore Financial Centre. It is west of the Air Canada Centre and east of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. It is bordered by the commercial development of 18 York Street on the east, Bremner Blvd on the south and the railway corridor and overpass on the north. Simcoe St forms the western boundary. To the southwest of the development is the Roundhouse, home to the Steam Whistle Brewery as well as the Toronto Railway Heritage Centre. Also in the neighbourhood are the Rogers Centre, home to the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Argonauts, the CN Tower, the Telus Building, Maple Leaf Square, the soon-to-be-constructed ICE Condominiums at York Centre and new Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada, in addition to numerous restaurants, pubs, tourist attractions, and shops.

In 2011, GWL Realty Advisors on behalf of bcIMC Realty Corporation completed construction of 18 York, a significant 27 storey office tower anchoring the west side of York Street and featuring a public art commission by James Carpenter (http://vimeo.com/37150715). The work was integrated into the pedestrian bridge spanning York Street, extending the PATH system (http://www.toronto.ca/path/) and creating an impressive gateway into the City of Toronto.

Construction is underway with the hotel/convention complex scheduled for completion at the end of 2014 and the office tower expected to be complete in mid 2014.

Eligibility
To be eligible for this program, applicants must be professional artists; that is, artists who are recognized as such by their peers, who have specialized training in the field, and who have a history of public exhibition (exhibitions in museums and public galleries). We are NOT seeking existing works offered for sale.

Selection Process
A two-stage selection process for the commissioning of public art has been devised to ensure:

• A professional and arm’s-length evaluation process;
• The aesthetic quality of the art;
• That the final commissions can be implemented within the Project’s art budget.

Evaluation Criteria
Each candidate will be evaluated on the basis of the following:

• Aesthetic evaluation: original thinker-strong, innovative and original work

• A demonstrated strong sense of scale exhibited through past work

• Strong history of public exhibition in senior public institutions or in innovative artist-run spaces; installation projects

• Confirmation of ability to work within a team environment, with a generosity of spirit and patience.

• Proven track record and ability to complete projects on time and within budgets (either public art commissions or museum and gallery projects).

Professional standing by peer or art expert reference will be a major consideration.

We may also take into consideration information in the public domain about any artists’ history and work.

Stage 1: Call to Artists & Assessment
Stage 1 is an open call to artists who must submit a signed Agreement to Propose & Consent Form and the materials as described in the Call to Artists Entry Requirements. Each entry will be reviewed. An assessment will be made of each candidate against the eligibility criteria.

The decisions of the future jury for Project will incorporate professional advice on aesthetic issues as well as practical considerations concerning construction, facility operations and future maintenance.

All responding artists must submit the following:
1. Signed Agreement to Propose & Consent Form. Submissions that do not include a signed Agreement to Propose will be disqualified. Emailed submissions must include a PDF of the Signed agreement to Propose and Consent.
2. Image Submission: One consolidated PDF containing a one page CV and digital images of past work. Each image must clearly identify the title of the artwork, location, media, size and other relevant information. In the case of commissioned works, please provide a note with the name of the commissioning body if possible. Please submit no more than six (6) images or video clips illustrating work completed within the last 15 years.
3. Your name, address, daytime telephone and fax number, evening telephone number (including area codes), email address and (if you have one) your website address.
4. Submissions must be received not later than Wednesday, June 16, 2012. Artists are solely responsible for the timely receipt of their submissions.
5. It is expected that artist selection will be complete by fall 2012. The selection process and contracting of the art commissions will be conducted in accordance with the development schedule for the Project. Only Finalists will be provided site information.

Imago Inc. est un centre d’artistes autogéré de production en estampe.

Le  mandat de l’atelier Imago est de promouvoir et diffuser la création artistique dans le domaine de l’estampe contemporaine. We are re-pleased (as punch) to re-announce the the VSVSVS
Summer Residency Program.

The second annual residency program will be held this summer at the
VSVSVS warehouse throughout the months of July and August and will
end in an exhibition. We will work with the selected artist(s) to determine
exact dates for the residency and the subsequent exhibition. We are
looking specifically for dedicated artists that will make a valuable
contribution to our collective environment while participating in our
events and functions.

Information:
The residency is offered to any practicing artist in any media from
anywhere (groups or collectives are also considered). The length of the
residency is negotiable ranging anywhere from one week to two
months, depending on the wants and needs of the artist(s). The
residency will culminate in a show at the VSVSVS Gallery. The
residency provides 24 hour access to the 14 ft. x 20 ft semi-private
VSVSVS Gallery which will serve as studio space and, later, the
exhibition space, as well as access to the fully equipped VSVSVS
Woodshop. It is mandatory that the artist utilizes the space: you gotta
be there or we will be sad and miss you. Studio visits with other artists,
curators and VSVSVS members is strongly encouraged (we love an
open dialogue). The artist must make a concerted effort to invite other
members of the arts community to VSVSVS for studio visits and events.
The artist is asked to do a talk at VSVSVS during the residency on their
practice or on an approved theme/topic. No materials or expenses are
provided by VSVSVS except the studio space itself. VSVSVS will help
with promotion and exposure of the residency program and the
subsequent exhibition.

MOST IMPORTANT: The residency is free. But, we cannot cover
transportation or food costs.

A letter of introduction, outlining the individual’s past artistic
experience, and other relevant information
A curriculum vitae
A brief project proposal (no more than one page)

Atelier Topaz – résidence
Opasatika, Ontario, Canada
Le lieu
Situés au cœur de la forêt boréale, les Ateliers Topaz sont à la fois un lieu de retraite et un centre de création pour artistes, toutes disciplines confondues. L’endroit parfait pour la réflexion, l’évasion. Le groupement d’édifices fait 900 mètres carrés et repose sur 14 hectares face à la route Transcanadienne. Il donne sur un étang de deux hectares. Topaz c’est la « Route 66 » dans le nord de l’Ontario. L’endroit, modeste et nostalgique, rappelle aussi les grandes épopées de la colonisation francophone de l’Ontario. Ces studios de création ou cette résidence d’artistes, endroit idéal pour les arts visuels, sont situés au centre du Canada, à mi-chemin entre l’Atlantique et le Pacifique, là où les étoiles deviennent les topazes de la nuit.
Ce qu’on offre
D’abord l’espace et, l’espace de travail déterminés selon les besoins de l’artiste. Les espaces polyvalents permettent d’y faire de la peinture, de la sculpture, de l’installation, etc. L’atelier de menuiserie, le Bar à clou, est équipé des outils de base. Un magasin d’objets trouvés est disponible autant pour l’inspiration que pour l’utilisation dans une œuvre. Le peintre apporte ses pinceaux, le musicien son instrument et l’écrivain son ordi.

Les personnes qui séjournent aux Ateliers Topaz jouissent de l’accès à la cuisine et sont responsables de préparer leurs repas. Toutefois Laurent peut aussi leur cuisiner de petits plats typiquement canadiens-français aux besoins ou aux désirs. 

Topaz possède deux suites avec lit double et une chambre avec lit simple. Chacune possède sa salle de toilette avec douche. Ces installations évoquent admirablement le style des années 1960. 

Pour la baignade, le Lac des Cœurs se situe à deux kilomètres à l’est. Pour le canotage ou la pèche, la rivière Opasatika est deux kilomètres à l’ouest. Pour se déplacer, il y a de vieux vélos ou la marche. Pour un frais très raisonnable, votre hôte peut aussi vous conduire ou organiser un déplacement vers Kapuskasing à l’est ou vers Hearst à l’ouest. 

Les matériaux d’artistes ne sont pas disponibles dans la région. Il est donc important de faire vos achats avant votre séjour, à moins que vous travailliez avec des matériaux que l’on peut se procurer dans des magasins ordinaires ou même en nature.

The Curtis R. Priemn Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) is dedicated to advancing research and artistic production at the intersection of technology, media and the time-based arts (media arts, video, music, dance, theater, etc.). The combination of artist-driven content with contemporary media and performing arts technology in the field of time- based arts stands in the center of the artistic research and production activities of EMPAC. EMPAC’s goal is to provide an environment to support the realization of works at any stage from inception to completion. This means that an EMPAC residency can support works which take a long period of time to develop and which may need different resources at different phases of the production. The Artists in Residence program is available to individuals, groups, ensembles or collectives to develop new approaches and new works in the time-based arts. EMPAC is also offering a Scholar and Researcher in Residence Program. Visiting scholars and researchers will participate in the formation of an intellectual community in scientific and engineering disciplines that may also engage perceptual and artistic knowledge and practice.

Studio information:
EMPAC has three acoustically isolated spaces that become dedicated to a particular artist or researcher while in residence at EMPAC. They are ideal as a study, office, work, or rehearsal space, or for contained work using computers for audio or video. Each studio has an equipment closet to house noisy electronics. There are shared kitchen facilities for the Residency Studios.
Accommodation information:
EMPAC may support residencies with accommodation in the EMPAC artist residency housing, a building with four apartments.

Aomori Contemporary Art Center: Artist In Residence Program 2012/ Autumn

The Aomori Contemporary Art Centre (ACAC) is surrounded by the rich woods. It opened in December 2001 aiming at the place of new creation where nature and art live together. At this institution, twice a year — spring and autumn, we have an ‘Artist-in-Residence’ (AIR) program system that invites artists to reside in Aomori, and produce works. We aim at offering the opportunity of various appreciation of art, the exchange activities with artists and citizen, and making the original art culture of Aomori-City.
In the Autumn AIR program, we invite artists who play active part in the contemporary art field from all applicants. We support the residence work and holding the exhibition. At the same time, we set up the workshop and lecture by artists for audience to play a part of help to understand art deeply and promote international exchange through art.
Invitation artists can receive the following support. Accommodation and studio (shared space) is provided artists for creative activities.

2012 Artist Residency Programs: Atlantic Center for the Arts, (Deadline May 18, 2012)

Since 1982, Atlantic Center’s residency program has provided artists from all artistic disciplines with spaces to live, work, and collaborate during three-week residencies. Located just four miles from the east coast beaches of central Florida, the pine and palmetto wooded environment contains award-winning studios that include a resource library, painting, sculpture, music, dance and writers’ studios, a black box theater, and digital computer lab.
Each residency session includes three master artists of different disciplines.
The master artists each personally select a group of associates – talented, emerging and midcareer artists – through an application process administered by ACA. During the residency, artists participate in informal sessions with their group, collaborate on projects, and work independently. The relaxed atmosphere and unstructured program provide considerable time for artistic regeneration and creation.
Atlantic Center for the Arts provides housing (private room/bath with work desk), weekday meals (provided by ACA chef) and 24-hour access to shared studio space. Financial Aid is available to qualified applicants.

Appel à résidence autour de la lithographie, l’estampe, la typographie et les arts du livre (Ussel)

La ville d’Ussel souhaite accueillir en 2012 un artiste au sein de ces ateliers pour une résidence autour de la lithographie, l’estampe, la typographie et les arts du livre en général.

Ouvert en 1976 le musée est consacré à l’histoire, aux arts et aux traditions populaires d’Ussel.
Il possède une section Imprimerie, située 18 rue Michelet, (dans une vielle maison usselloise du XVIIe siècle) organisée en deux salles :L’imprimerie typographique, comprenant du matériel provenant de l’ancienne imprimerie LOMBARTEIX, active à Ussel de 1912 à 1994 et l’imprimerie lithographique comprenant le matériel de l’imprimerie DUMOND, (1928-1980) qui compte notamment une presse lithographique Brisset.
L’atelier de lithographie est animé chaque été par un graveur professionnel à l’occasion de stages de mi-juillet à mi-septembre.

Finalités: La résidence doit permettre la production d’œuvres gravées et / ou imprimées (hors eau-forte) réalisées dans le cadre d’une recherche artistique personnelle. Le travail réalisé par l’artiste participe à la valorisation de la création artistique utilisant la gravure et éventuellement la typographie en renouvelant l’image de ces techniques auprès des publics. Dans le contexte de la résidence, l’artiste participera à des ateliers de pratique artistique en direction de tous les publics. A l’issue de la résidence et, en accord avec l’artiste et les organisateurs, une exposition sera organisée par le Musée pour valoriser le travail réalisé et/ou les travaux réalisés dans le cadre des ateliers de pratique artistique.

Modalités : L’artiste dispose d’un temps de travail pour mener à bien cette recherche et bénéficie du matériel et des outils de la structure qu’il pourra utiliser en dehors des ateliers de pratique artistique. Il participera à l’animation de l’atelier de lithographie seul ou en collaboration avec l’artiste lithographe animateur des stages de lithographie. Les temps de participation aux ateliers de pratique artistique seront précisés à l’artiste par les organisateurs sous la forme d’un planning.

L’artiste aura accès à l’atelier pour réaliser son travail personnel le matin jusqu’à 14 heures et le soir après 18 heures ainsi que les samedis et les dimanches de 9 h à 18 heures.
Le Musée pourra, en accord avec l’artiste, utiliser l’image des œuvres réalisées dans le cadre de la promotion de ses activités.
Durant la résidence, des rencontres professionnelles et des visites sur d’autres lieux d’art contemporain seront proposées à l’artiste par le Musée et la DRAC.

Conditions d’accueil et de rémunération : l’hébergement de l’artiste est pris en charge par la Ville d’Ussel. Une bourse de résidence sera versée à l’artiste. A cette indemnité forfaitaire de résidence s’ajoutera une aide pour l’achat de matériel spécifique.

Durée : de 1 à 2 mois entre le 14 juillet et le 30 septembre 2012.

L’Association acadienne des artistes professionel.le.s du Nouveau-Brunswick s’interroge au sujet des compressions annoncées dans les arts et la culture au Canada

Un survol des compressions annoncées dans le milieu des arts et de la culture
 
Le gouvernement fédéral annonçait le 29 mars 2012 une série de compressions financières qui touchent déjà de nombreux secteurs de la société canadienne, notamment celui des arts et de la culture. Les réductions annoncées sur trois ans se chiffrent comme suit :

• 115 millions de dollars à Radio-Canada,

• 10,6 millions de dollars à Téléfilm Canada,

• 6,7 millions de dollars à l’Office national du film,

• 9,6 millions de dollars à Bibliothèque et Archives Canada

• et 46,2 millions de dollars au ministère du Patrimoine canadien.

Mentionnons le maintien du financement au Conseil des Arts du Canada.

Au moment même où nous célébrons le regard que l’Acadie porte sur elle-même et sa manière de se présenter au monde, nous nous sentons menacés comme artistes et comme citoyens. Nous constatons une série de compressions, qui s’ajoute aux nombreuses coupes réalisées dans les autres secteurs de notre société, s’apparente à une tentative de détérioration du tissu social de notre pays. D’une part, il semble qu’on saborde les agences publiques que les Canadien.ne.s se sont données pour s’exprimer et mieux se connaître d’un océan à l’autre à l’autre. D’autre part, on annonce des suppressions de postes dans la fonction publique, postes qui seront remplacés par un plus petit nombre d’emplois auxquels chacun devra postuler, créant ainsi une compétition entre collègues et ex-collègues. En rongeant le tissu social, nos décideurs s’attaquent en même temps à la solidarité entre les citoyen.ne.s et à l’essence même des valeurs dans lesquelles les Canadien.ne.s se reconnaissent.

Cette tendance à réduire épisodiquement les budgets de soutien aux arts et à la culture ne fait que fragiliser nos institutions. Après trop de compressions, il deviendra impossible d’en faire plus avec moins : la quantité et la qualité viendront à souffrir du manque de ressources. Dans ces conditions, nos institutions offriront aux citoyen.ne.s canadiens un portrait moins juste, moins à la hauteur de qui nous sommes, et ainsi elles s’acquitteront moins bien de leur mandat national.

De plus, pour gérer des budgets réduits, les agences semblent opter pour centraliser davantage les effectifs et la prise de décision. On serait même porté à croire que l’Acadie et la francophonie canadienne écopent au passage. Nous voulons donc déclarer notre solidarité avec tous ceux et celles qui sont directement touchés, et offrir notre appui aux institutions qui font face aux coupes en leur demandant de travailler avec nous à protéger notre vie collective.
