New Adventures in Sound Art (NAISA) invites artists of all ages and nationalities to submit works on the theme Sound Response for consideration in New Adventures in Sound Art’s 2017 programming.

Sounds, people, animals and environments interact in interesting and complex ways. Languages are shaped by environments, sounds often distinguish the character of a community or habitat, and sound waves propagate differently when they respond to different surfaces and atmospheric conditions. For its 2017 programming, NAISA is interested in submissions that reflect the notion of a Sound Response and creative ways that this can be shared.

Preference in programming will be given to works that respond in some way to the theme Sound Response. Individual interpretations or variations on the theme are encouraged, but should be realized with sound as the primary component. NAISA would also like to encourage artists to submit works on the theme for performance, gallery exhibit, audio-visual screening, radio or internet broadcast, telematics, mobile experiences and any other emerging or alternative formats that include sound as a primary element. Please complete in full the online submission form and upload your audio by midnight on June 15, 2016. Note: there is a $5 submission fee in order to defray the cost of processing the submissions. All works chosen for presentation will receive an artist fee. Only those artists being considered for presentation will be contacted.

VIDEONALE.16 invites competition entries from around the world on the theme “PERFORM!”. The competition is open to all forms of moving image-based artworks (including single and multi-channel video and video installations). We also welcome performance and virtual reality projects.

Entries selected by our international jury of experts will be presented at the VIDEONALE.16 exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Bonn.

APPLICATION GUIDELINES
Guttenberg Arts is committed to supporting artists of diverse cultural, sexual, and ethnic backgrounds. You must be 25 years old or older and not currently enrolled in any undergraduate or graduate degree program.

ARTIST PARTICIPATION EXPECTATIONS
Artist in Resident participants are expected make a serious commitment to the program for the entire three-month session and to utilize the studio actively and consistently (on average artists are in the studio 20 hours per week). In addition, artists are required to give an public artist talk or teach one public workshop. It is vital to the success of the program that Artist in Resident participants fully take advantage of the unique resources we are able to provide. For this reason, Artist in Resident participants cannot simultaneously participate in another residency or degree-granting program while participating in Guttenberg Arts Space and Time Artist Residency.

FORMATTING OF WORK SAMPLES: DIGITAL IMAGES
File name: Images numbered in the order you would like them to be seen and labeled according to the titles on your list of work. (Example- “01untitled.jpg, 02sunset.jpg, 03Portrait.jpg”)
File size: No larger than 5.0 MB (each image) at 300dpi
File format: .JPG (preferred)
No composite images will be reviewed. A composite image is a single image file that is comprised of multiple images. Images of diptychs, installations, and multi-part works are not considered composites and are permissible.

Images will be shown in the order they are uploaded and are projected at roughly 30″ x 40″ per image via high definition digital projectors. Moderators will read aloud the materials, dimensions, and date of the image; panelists will have access to this information as well.

FAQ
WHAT IS A SPACE AND TIME ARTIST RESIDENCY?
Space and Time Artist Residency at Guttenberg Arts provides artists with a $1,200.00 USD stipend to cover material, travel, and housing in conjunction with 24/7 shared access to a 4,500 sq ft. professionally equipped workspace for the visual arts including printmaking, dark room and ceramics for three months in Guttenberg, New Jersey. Artists will also be given a one month group show as well as studio visits from accomplished professionals from the art world. Each artist is required to give a free and open to the public artist lecture or workshop towards the close of their three month residency. We highly recommend a site visit to our building. Artists are selected by a blind jury of arts professionals on the merits of their work.

HOW ARE ARTISTS SELECTED?
Artists are chosen based on the single criterion of work that demonstrates a compelling vision as defined by the assembled panel’s collective opinion. Materials are reviewed and voted on by the panelists in elimination rounds which produce a smaller pool for each round. An artist’s advancement is a product of the collective vote of the panel. A single panelist cannot ensure an applicant’s success or failure. Panel proceedings are overseen by the Guttenberg Arts Staff and by Guttenberg Arts Board of Trustees. Panelists’ names are kept confidential until the awards are announced. Artists are awarded residencies at all career levels.
HOW IS WORK REVIEWED?
Applications are available for panelists to read as they review support materials. An artist’s digital images are projected in the order uploaded by the applicant. Moderators will read aloud the materials, dimensions, and date of the images to the panel.

HOW ARE PANELS ASSEMBLED?
Panelists change each round and are comprised of three art world professionals.

Zocalo, centre dédié à l’art imprimé, privilégie la recherche et la création en art actuel par son programme de Résidence d’artistes s’adressant aux professionnels désireux d’explorer de nouvelles avenues en art imprimé.

Les artistes sélectionnés auront la possibilité de créer des œuvres ou de réaliser une édition dans l’une ou l’autre des techniques pratiquées au centre. Zocalo dispose d’espaces de travail permettant la réalisation d’estampes en impression numérique, en relief et en creux.

La sélection des artistes est faite par un jury indépendant selon les critères d’évaluation suivants :

• L’intérêt et la pertinence du projet concernant la notion de développement des nouveaux langages de l’estampe;
• La faisabilité du projet en fonction du budget et des ressources offerts par le centre.

Cette résidence offre aux artistes :

• Un cachet de production de 500 $;
• Un accès aux ateliers de production pendant deux mois;
• 25 heures d’assistance technique (valeur de 600 $);
• L’achat de matériel jusqu’à concurrence de 100 $;
• Une adhésion comme membre pour l’année en cours (valeur de 50 $).

Conditions :

• Présentation devant les membres de l’atelier à la fin de la résidence;
• Une à deux œuvres (selon le format) devront être déposées à l’atelier.

À noter que ce programme ne couvre pas les frais d’hébergement.

Le dossier doit contenir les documents suivants :

• Une description du projet démontrant l’intérêt porté aux techniques de l’estampe, les besoins d’équipement et d’assistance et le temps de réalisation du projet;
• Un court texte décrivant la démarche artistique;
• Un curriculum vitae;
• 5 à 10 images (format : JPEG, RVB, 72 dpi, 1024 x 768 px max);
• Une liste descriptive des images indiquant le titre, l’année, le médium et les dimensions de l’œuvre.

Si la taille du dossier dépasse 10 Mb, celui-ci doit être acheminé par un système d’envoi en ligne, tel que Dropbox, WeTransfer ou Hightail.

Artist Residencies

The White Water Gallery accepts proposals for “micro” residencies from 1 -3 weeks in length. These residencies are open to Canadian and International artists or groups interested in engaging our Northern Ontario community. Artist fees and travel are negotiated on a case by case basis and special funding may need to be secured in order to accommodate some projects.

Artists interested in applying for a micro-residency are asked to submit a detailed proposal to the White Water Gallery’s Programming Committee. Priority will be given to proposals that compliment the Gallery’s mandate and involve partnerships and collaboration through art creation, incubators, workshops and research.

All proposals must include:

• Artist’s CV
• One page Artist or Curatorial Statement
• One page Project Description, outlining the scope of the project and any specific requirements (spatial, technical, time of year, etc)
• Support material: max. 10-20 jpegs on CD and/or max. one VHS or DVD
• Descriptive list for visual material (title, date, dimensions, medium)
• SASE (Self addressed stamped envelope)*

White Water Gallery is not responsible for lost or damaged submissions. Do not send slides, photographs, original artwork or master tapes. E-mailed submissions will not be accepted without prior consent from the Gallery.

Le Centre SAGAMIE offre aux artistes en art actuel des résidences de recherche/création axées sur le traitement numérique de l’image et l’impression numérique grand format.

Situées à Alma, au coeur d’un milieu culturel dynamique, ces résidences permettent aux artistes de se ressourcer et de développer de nouveaux langages à partir d’un vocabulaire numérique pertinent et actuel. Ces résidences leur permettent d’initier et/ou de réaliser des projets qui questionnent l’image et d’élaborer des stratégies singulières pour la générer, la transformer ou la diffuser.

Accueillis en nos lieux de production, les artistes sont soutenus par notre équipe de techniciens-artistes, avec expertise et sensibilité, dans un laboratoire numérique comprenant quatre imprimantes grand format couvrant les principales technologies d’impression. Une vaste gamme de supports d’impression est mise à leur disposition afin de réaliser leurs expérimentations. Ces résidences de courtes durées sont à la fois intenses en créativité et favorables à la souplesse des horaires. Le centre offre également aux artistes un budget de production ainsi qu’un cachet.

Residency For Artists On Hiatus (RFAOH)

RFAOH co-directors Shinobu Akimoto and Matthew Evans are pleased to invite international “artists on-hiatus” to apply to their third call for residents to participate in their ongoing project Residency For Artists On Hiatus (RFAOH).

Residency For Artists On Hiatus is a virtual yet functioning residency available to artists who, for one reason or another, are NOT currently making or presenting art. The residency exists in the form of a website only, and the residents are selected based on their proposals of “on-hiatus” activities (or non-activities). To be eligible to apply, artists must have previously created an independent body of work and have exhibited in a public context. Selected residents will be represented on a dedicated page within the RFAOH website, where they post periodic reports throughout their residency. A modest stipend will be awarded to successful applicants to assist in their on-hiatus endeavour. At the conclusion of their residency, residents are asked to submit a written report on how they benefited from or were otherwise influenced by this opportunity.

Since its launch in 2013, Residency For Artists On Hiatus has hosted twelve international “on-hiatus artists” with a broad range of backgrounds and projects. Through this opportunity to be free from the obligations of being an artist, they have explored the space between art-making and other creative endeavour, and the limits and liminalities of professionalism in the arts. Residency For Artists On Hiatus has also generated steady responses, including a growing community of followers, featured articles in various media, and invitations for presentations from art spaces worldwide.

We are excited to host a third cohort of residents, and continue our discourse surrounding the role of art within the wider culture. This year, we also look forward to the publication of “RFAOH Annual Reports”, which will document our operation and our residents’ “on-hiatus” activities. Opportunity: 6-month, non live-in artist residency

The City of Burlington public art program is inviting artists and artist teams to submit expressions of interest for an Artist-in-Residence program. Working with Arts and Culture staff, the selected artist(s) will conduct a 6-month residency to research the establishment of ‘cultural nodes’ in Burlington. Cultural nodes are defined community hubs that help connect residents and artists to cultural opportunities happening throughout the city.

In addition to attending planning meetings and consulting with key stakeholders, the selected artist will create temporary public art interventions to engage and interact with the community.

This Request for Expressions of Interest is open to professional artists working in a variety of mediums (i.e. visual art, performance, media arts, curators, community art practitioners, etc.).

This is a non live-in residency however the selected artist is expected to visit Burlington frequently and must live within easy travel distance.

Project Goals

• The integration of an artist’s perspective into planning cultural nodes
• Create opportunities for street-level cultural engagement through unique public engagement activities and temporary public art installations
• Make recommendations on ways to link identified cultural nodes
• Make recommendations for a future permanent public art installation related to cultural nodes

CALL FOR ARTISTS!The Gardiner Museum is inviting artists to create “green” art installations for our annual 12 Trees exhibition.

Over the last 27 years, the Gardiner Museum has celebrated the festive season with its signature fundraising exhibition, 12 Trees, and its central gala event, the G Party. Last year, the 12 Trees exhibition was reinvigorated as a showcase of contemporary tree-inspired art installations based on the theme “The Joy of Creativity”. The artists and designers included Justin Broadbent, Bruno Billio, Jane Waterous, and Michael Adamson, among others. The exhibition raised over $130,000 for the Gardiner, doubled its audience over previous years, and received tremendous media coverage.

The Gardiner is among the few museums in the world focused on ceramics. This year’s 12 Trees theme celebrates the very foundations of clay: the Earth. The Gardiner values the one-of-a-kind and the handmade, careful rather than mass consumption, and the preservation of treasured objects for future generations.

In 2016, we invite artists to propose Christmas tree installations inspired by the theme Good for the Earth. Proposals should address one, or all, of the following:

• Are recycled
• Draw attention to material culture
• Focus on the handmade
• Are made of sustainable material
• Illustrate something that is, simply, good for the Earth

HOW TO APPLY

Applications should be received by Wednesday June 15, 2016 and include:

1. A short proposal including:

1. A project description, highlighting how your installation is “Good for the Earth”
2. A visual rendering
3. How you plan to make use of the space (please see “Available Spaces”).

Proposals should be no more than 500 words.

2. A bio and CV for the lead applicant(s)
As this is a fundraising event, note that each installation will be paired with a sponsor.

AVAILABLE SPACES

Installations will be displayed in groups for maximum impact. Four different clusters of three installations will be spread out over four areas. Please note height restrictions.

1. Lobby: Max installation height 9 ft, same for load-in/load out.
2. 2nd Floor: Max installation height 7’5, same for load-in/load-out
3. 3rd Floor: Max installation height 13 ft, 7’5 ft for load-in/load out

We encourage artists to make full use of the space for maximum impact.
