Toward the other shore Moving to Saskatoon as an adult allowed the artist to gain a better awareness of the geopolitical, historical and cultural phenomena which are specific to Western Canadian cities. Her video and performance Vers l’autre rive (toward the other shore) draw attention to the symbolism of the bridge, interpreted here as a link between the past and the future, the link between two parallel cultures, and between individual and collective notions of cultural identity. Her performance is based on fortuitous meetings with the public – sentences said and/or written as well as photos of various actions and movements – threads that allow the community to recognize itself.
