Hello!Bonjour!
Dioramas
Wood, sculpy, ceramic, cloth
Diorama one: 67 x 48 x 25.5 | Diorama two: 67 x 48 x 25.5

The history of the Red River becomes the backdrop against which Gerry Collins examines the relationship between Francophone and Anglophone populations that she brings together on an imaginary bridge, with ultimate confidence and geniality. Using the principle of a double parallax, her dioramas present these two populations in a manner that reflects how they have become, little by little, more open to each other. Made of plywood and ceramics, Gerry Collins’ diorama allows the spectator to observe both banks of the Red River, where various aspects of Manitoba’s history are revealed starting with Lord Selkirk and Monsignor Provencher in 1818, to the present.
