Incandescence
Video
11 minutes
Incandescence is an exploration of hybrid cultures
as seen through the video portrait of Loretta Cardinal, a Franco-Manitoban
born in 1906 who received her entire education in Manitoba in English.
Only through marriage to a Francophone did she rediscover and begin
to reclaim her culture. Incandescence unfolds through a series
of personal and historical anecdotes about Loretta Cardinal that
shed light and understanding on the tensions inherent in bicultural
relationships and the quest for cultural identity.
