AARCA/ACAAA – l’Association des centres d’artistes autogérés de l’Atlantique est à la recherche d’entreprises ou de personnes qui souhaitent manifester leur intérêt envers l’organisation de la prochaine conférence nationale des centres d’artistes autogérés qui se déroulera à Charlottetown à l’automne 2017.

À l’image d’une réunion de navires dans les eaux libres, « Flottille » rassemblera des artistes, des commissaires et des auteurs pour créer un événement souple et ouvert.
À l’automne 2017, les centres d’artistes autogérés du Nouveau-Brunswick, de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador, de la Nouvelle-Écosse et de l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard rassembleront la ferveur et la chaleur d’un party de cuisine des Maritimes pour faire de Charlottetown le lieu de discussions transnationales des centres d’artistes, des espaces et des réseaux autogérés d’aujourd’hui.
Le comité prévoit entamer le travail de demande de subvention, de collecte de fonds et de logistique dès janvier 2016.

La Galerie McClure du Centre des arts visuels accepte des soumissions pour la saison d’exposition 2015-2016. Les artistes contemporains oeuvrant dans toutes les disciplines artistiques ainsi que les commissaires ayant un projet d’exposition sont invités à déposer un dossier. Les artistes ayant eu une exposition au cours des 5 dernières années sont priés d’attendre avant de soumettre de nouveau un projet d’exposition.

Verticale – centre d’artistes lance un appel aux artistes en art actuel pour la programmation régulière de l’année 2016-2017.
Verticale propose aux artistes de contribuer à une réflexion sur le territoire et sur sa construction symbolique. À travers des œuvres critiques, percutantes ou discrètes, les artistes ont un rôle important à jouer dans un environnement en transformation – qu’il soit social ou climatique –, et ce, tout au long de l’année.
Verticale – centre d’artistes s’intéresse aux cycles de diffusion atypiques, aux processus de création, aux spécificités des arts visuels dans un contexte d’éclatement disciplinaire.
Les pratiques installatives, performatives, d’interventions sont acceptées dans le cadre de cet appel. Ces pratiques nécessitent des modes de diffusion adaptés que le centre peut offrir aux artistes. Par sa programmation, le centre cherche à questionner la notion d’exposition dans un contexte hors les murs. Ainsi, les projets doivent être adaptés à la réalité du seul centre d’artistes autogéré lavallois.
Verticale souhaite répondre aux besoins des artistes et accompagner leurs démarches de création.

THÈME DU 34e SYMPOSIUM INTERNATIONAL D’ART CONTEMPORAIN
La directrice artistique du Symposium international d’art contemporain Marie Perrault a présenté récemment la thématique de la 34e édition. En voici un aperçu alors que l’appel de dossier pour les artistes s’ouvrira le 14 septembre prochain.
Marie Perrault, la directrice artistique du Symposium, prépare une 34e édition sur le thème Mobilités.
Mobilités
Au cours de l’été 2016, la 34e édition du Symposium international d’art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul explorera les phénomènes liés à la mobilité, à ses conséquences sociétales et aux imaginaires qui l’animent.
Que l’on bouge soi-même ou non, la mobilité occupe une place importante dans nos vies de tous les jours. Tout au long du XXe siècle, nos sociétés ont été marquées par l’évolution des moyens de transport et de communications, ainsi que par le développement des infrastructures et des réseaux ayant rendu ces changements possibles. L’avènement des nouvelles technologies, la circulation toujours plus rapide de l’information et la communication en réseau contribuent aujourd’hui à un sentiment de mobilité généralisée.
Il s’agira ici de se pencher sur les mouvements de personnes, d’objets et d’information, sur les infrastructures et les réseaux qui en assurent la fluidité, sur les imaginaires motivant cette effervescence. De même, la résistance à cette mobilité constitue une contrepartie qui pourra être explorée. À l’aube de la modernité, les Futuristes italiens étaient fascinés par la vitesse et le mouvement ; alors que s’amorce aujourd’hui une troisième révolution industrielle ancrée dans la fluidité, quel regard les artistes posent-ils sur ce phénomène, ses motivations et ses conséquences ?
Cette édition du Symposium international d’art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul s’inscrit dans une série traitant des changements liés au développement des technologies et amorcée en 2015 avec Murmures du quotidien.
Le Musée d’art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul (MACBSP) est l’organisme désigné qui gère l’évènement nommé Symposium international d’art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul.

FIBREWORKS 2016
Biennale-concours des arts canadiens de la fibre
Du 9 septembre au 13 novembre 2016
Fibreworks 2016 est la 16e édition du concours biennal populaire d’art de la fibre. Fibreworks est une des expositions la plus vaste pour les œuvres en fibre au Canada et peuvent inclure jusqu’à 35 artistes. Toutes les œuvres sélectionnées sont éligibles pour le prix du jury et peuvent être achetés par Idea Exchange Art + Design pour sa collection permanente dédiée exclusivement à l’art de la fibre canadienne. L’exposition Fibreworks 2016 prend place au Galerie Queen’s Square du 9 septembre au 13 novembre 2016.
APPEL DE CANDIDATURES
CONDITIONS D’ADMISSION
La biennale est ouverte à tous les artistes canadiens. Chaque artiste peut soumettre un maximum de 3 oeuvres. La date limite est le lundi, 28 mars 2016.
Pour être admissibles, les oeuvres doivent comporter des fibres ou des matériaux textiles comme élément principal.
Les oeuvres doivent avoir été produites au cours des deux dernières années. Les oeuvres doivent être de dimensions raisonnables, prêtes à être installées et disponibles pour être expédiées à l’intérieur du Canada.
Chaque oeuvre proposée peut être illustrée au moyen d’un maximum de 3 images numériques, y compris les détails. Chaque image doit être numérotée et doit comporter le nom de l’artiste, ainsi que le titre de l’oeuvre. Prière de soumettre des images sur CD, sauvegardées en fichiers JPEG compatibles avec le système RVB. Dimensions des images : 1024 x 768 pixels; résolution : 300 ppp.
NB tout information soumis doit être en format numérique (Word et PDF accepté). Veuillez inclure un court texte (150 mots maximum) décrivant chaque oeuvre proposée, ainsi qu’un CV d’une page. Les dossiers de candidature ne seront pas retournés aux artistes.
La sélection finale sera complétée par le jury. Toutes les décisions sont sans appel. Les artistes sélectionnés seront avisés par 30 juin 2016.
Les finalistes recevront des honoraires de 100$ pour chaque oeuvre sélectionnée. Les frais de transport seront pris en charge par la galerie .
Le Prix du jury sera attribué lors du vernissage, le vendredi 9 septembre.

Les HTMlles : Festival féministe d’arts médiatiques + de culture numérique
12e édition, du 3 au 6 novembre 2016, Montréal

Depuis 1997, Les HTMlles rassemble des artistes, des théoricien-ne-s et des activistes passionné-e-s par la réflexion critique sur les nouvelles technologies dans une perspective féministe. Le festival a lieu tous les deux ans à Montréal et il vise à présenter des projets innovants créés par des artistes locaux-ales et internationaux-ales. Chaque édition s’inspire d’un thème spécifique et aborde des questions sociopolitiques d’actualité et qui dépassent les frontières des pratiques artistiques et féministes.
La douzième édition du festival coïncidera avec le vingtième anniversaire du Studio XX! Afin de célébrer une telle réalisation collective, nous lançons un appel à projets auprès d’artistes locaux-ales et internationaux-ales de manière à ce que nous continuions ensemble à faire connaitre les actions féministes critiques et créatives qui existent au sein des arts médiatiques et de la culture numérique.
THÈME : CONDITIONS DE CONFIDENTIALITÉ
Les discussions actuelles sur la confidentialité sont alimentées par le rôle que jouent les nouvelles technologies dans la mise en place de formes modernes de surveillance individuelle, corporative et étatique. En 2013, Edward Snowden révélait que la National Security Agency (NSA) aux États-Unis gère de nombreux programmes de surveillance à l’échelle mondiale ciblant des gouvernements, des entreprises et des populations civiles, tant dans le pays qu’à l’étranger. En conséquence, tout ce que le monde soupçonnait s’est officialisé : nous – consommateur-rice-s de technologies – sommes surveillé-e-s, écouté-e-s, tracé-e-s et suivi-e-s en temps réel par l’entremise de nos ordinateurs et gadgets personnels.
Au moment où nous parlons au téléphone ou écrivons avec l’aide d’un clavier, les programmes de surveillance de masse collectent nos données personnelles et nos méga-données. De plus, la fuite d’informations classifiées et divulguées par Snowden a révélé que le problème s’étendrait au-delà de la NSA, reliant l’Australie, le Canada, la Nouvelle-Zélande, les États-Unis et le Royaume-Uni au sein d’une alliance de renseignement connue sous le nom des “cinq yeux”.
Ces révélations ont donné lieu à un large éventail de préoccupations concernant la confidentialité au 21e siècle, non seulement sur le plan politique, mais aussi dans les sphères les plus intimes de la vie quotidienne. Pour cette douzième édition, Les HTMlles invite ainsi des artistes, des universitaires et des technologues à s’intéresser de façon créative au concept de confidentialité tout comme à imaginer et imager les “conditions d’utilisation” d’une confidentialité tant individuelle que collective qui sont requises afin de résister aux anciennes et nouvelles formes de marginalisation et d’oppression.
Trois approches principales structurent la façon dont nous envisageons cette édition du festival sans toutefois s’y limiter :

Flux Media Art Gallery is seeking submissions for our 2016-2017
programming year (October 1, 2016 – September 30, 2017). We are

Ice Follies 2016 Request for Proposal
Ice Follies 2016 is the sixth biennial festival of site-specific artwork on frozen Lake Nipissing, rooted in artist-run culture and community arts engagement.
This 400km square lake offers an expansive backdrop of ice and sky, for mounting large-scale installations and performances. Video installations, sound-generating structures, lights sculptures, ice letters, community-based theatre productions and even working carousels have been erected in previous Ice Follies exhibits.
Ice Follies appears to the visitor as an assemblage of works mounted in a wide semi-circle (or arc) out across the ice adjacent to the main dock and riverfront park on Lake Nipissing. This eccentric collection of artworks echoes the “communities” of ice fishing huts that form elsewhere on the lake.
Ice Follies invites arts groups to submit proposals for installation and performance work for the 2016 festival.

Ojichaagobiishin: It reflects in water

The theme for Ice Follies 2016, Ojichaagobiishin (i.e. “it reflects in water”) is a call to action for artists to reflect on water, and look at what we see.
Looking in water reflects back our own image, forcing us to look at ourselves. Refracted in the current moment are the imminent threats of land development and pipelines, as well as community-based efforts to protect the source of life. Without fresh water sources such as Lake Nipissing nothing can survive. In order for the world we live in to become healthier and more vital, we have to change ourselves.
Call for submissions
Ice Follies invites proposals from organizations interested in curating one or more installations or performances to be mounted on Lake Nipissing.
(1) Organization eligibility
- Must be a registered organization, charity or ad-hoc collective.
- Must have proof of liability insurance that covers off-site incidents
- Must commit to paying full artist fees, as outlined by CARFAC (see: http://www.carfac.ca/tools/fees/), for any projects proposed for Ice Follies 2016;
- Must be willing to provide support for the artist if needed for installation, maintenance, and/or removal.
(2) Project eligibility
- Relevance: Clearly engages with the Ice Follies 2016 theme, Ojichaagobiishin: It reflects in water
- Artistic merit
- Project viability – Due to the precarious nature of working on a frozen body of water, each project will be assessed by a standing committee on the basis of the following viability guidelines:
- Project must adhere to a “leave no trace” principle.
- Materials used will either be biodegradable ____ [contact Stewardship council for details on this] or planned accordingly for safe installation and removal without disruption to the health of the lake and land.
- Artists agree to
- consult with a committee appointed advisor familiar with the nature of Lake Nipissing in winter to develop specific installation and removal plans.
- Follow through on those plans.
- Project must adhere to a “leave no trace” principle.

Contemporary art will transform the city of Toronto all-night for an 11th year at Nuit Blanche Toronto on October 1, 2016.
Nuit Blanche Toronto is an annual all-night celebration of contemporary art, produced by the City of Toronto in collaboration with Toronto’s arts community. The event brings together the exceptional talents of artists, curators, galleries, museums, cultural and educational institutions, and neighbourhoods in a collaborative undertaking to transform the city.
The impressive calibre and diversity of Open Call Projects featured at the event over the years includes artists such as: Adrian Blackwell, Ame Henderson, Brandy Leary/Anandam Dancetheatre, Eleanor King, Faith La Rocque, Kelly Mark, Labspace Studio, VSVSVS and Workparty.

Paco Barrágan – Militant Nostalgia or When History Meets Memory
Located around John Street corridor – King Street West to Front Street West:
Militant Nostalgia or When History Meets Memory tackles mediation and meditation on history and the passage of time. Nostalgia functions as an intermediary between the collective (history) and the individual (memory).
Unlike what was expected, the 21st Century has brought about on the one hand a moment of profound crisis, despair and deception; and on the other a discrediting of the big theories and ideologies (metanarratives) that have provided a solid and comprehensive explanation of our world. As a result, we as contemporary subjects feel disappointment, loss and are in search of a narrative that gives sense to our lives and future. The future is not what we have been promised and as such we long for the past.
Militant Nostalgia… is a kind of contradiction in terms, which pursues a revolutionary and reflective exploration of the past enabling a challenging and even utopian vision of the present-future.
Militant Nostalgia… allows us to look back at our past histories and memories searching for unrealized projects, failed dreams and unconsidered propositions in a prospective manner, envisioning alternative futures and un-marched paths wherein personal and collective memory meet.
Camille Hong Xin – And The Imagination Reveals
Located around Bay Street corridor – Queen Street West to Lake Shore Boulevard West:
This Exhibition addresses the chemistry between imagination and technology. Technology has two sides of a coin; while it advances innovation, facilitates imagination and determines the impact of resource usage, it also consumes energy, produces waste, and arguably, reduces physical intimacy. Part of this exploration includes how digital art illuminates our inner beauty, conflict and spiritual inquiries while also investigating the opposite side of the coin and offer alternatives.
Sustainability also needs imagination.
Sustainability’s immediate links are green technology, waste recycling and renewable energy. But its organizing principle includes four interconnected domains: ecology, economics, politics and culture–the Circles of Sustainability.
This Open Call is intended for proposals of sculptures, installations and interactive performance that align with the theme of imagination and technology, but extend to resilience-thinking and Circles of Sustainability. A sustainable world is founded on respect for nature, human rights, economic justice, and cultural/religious peace, which, in light of waste recycling and renewable energy, could serve as the geopoetic context, metaphorical reference, material approach, or conceptual strategy of your work.
Louise Déry – Facing The Night
Located around Queens Quay West and Bay Street to Dan Leckie Way:
Artists have always turned their eyes to the sky and many of them today are following in this grand romantic tradition, standing as explorers with their heads raised towards outer space, observing its immensity, evoking its boundlessness while at the same revealing its poetry, mystery and magic.
In a world where the sky is being sold by the piece to meet the demands of the communication industry, and in which formidable powers are busy hiding information or spying on the transmitted signals, artists will look at the night to reveal it and to shape the invisible in its multiple dimensions: exploration of the infinite, contemplation of its intangible power and consideration of its fragility. They will also contribute to reinvent the geography of the night, as well as remind us of the ambivalence of our relation with the night-world, a world of bright stars as much as black holes, of dreams as much as fear, of survival as much as apocalypse, of heaviness and weightlessness.
The sky begins level with the surface of the earth. It makes visible the alternation between day and night. As ‘night-walkers’, we enter into the vertigo of the nocturnal sky.
These three Exhibitions will each select two Open Call Projects. Barrágan, Hong Xin and Déry will select submissions in consultation with the City of Toronto’s City Cultural Events Team. Funding and production support is provided.
Toronto and Canadian based artists, as well as International artists, are strongly encouraged to apply.
The Open Call submission deadline is 11:59 p.m. on Monday, December 14, 2015.

Call For Submissions
BILLIE: Undercurrents in Atlantic Canadian Visual Culture is seeking submissions for its next two issues.
In Spring 2016, BILLIE ponders the Atlantic region’s place in the rest of the world, and the world’s place in the arts of the Atlantic. Internal/External will be a meditation on comparisons, influences, exchanges and relationships between the local and the global in Atlantic visual arts.
Fall 2016, BILLIE presents Subvertical: The Outsider Art Issue, turning a magnifying glass to work, concepts and approaches outside the norm. The ephemeral, the DIY, the rumoured, unregistered and under the table.
Submissions in a variety of forms are encouraged, such as interviews, written essays and photographic essays. Those interested in contributing should submit short summaries (250 words) of their content ideas to the editorial committee via email at writebillie [arobas] gmail [point] com.
BILLIE: Undercurrents in Atlantic Canadian Visual Culture was launched in Fall 2015, in conjunction with the re-launch of the Marion McCain Exhibition of Contemporary Atlantic Art. Taking its name from the late Marion McCain, whose lifelong nickname was “Billie,” the journal explores what is below the surface of contemporary art in Atlantic Canada and the diverse and complex narratives flowing from the region’s particular histories, peoples and landscape.

Centre [3] for print and media arts
Centre [3] for print and media arts exhibits a wide range of works that fosters the growth of artists and provides an arena for contemporary print and media arts. We are accepting proposals for exhibitions during 2017 and 2018. Centre [3] strives to challenge traditional notions of printmaking and photo based work while fostering the integration of media arts into more common practices. Print and photo based works can be traditional or experimental. Media Arts applications can encompass any variation of the following: new arts, sound works, projections, or installations.
Applications are accepted from both independent artists as well as curators from across Canada.
Artists must have completed their professional training and have a minimum of three years of previous exhibition experience.
Curators must have executed previous exhibitions and have sustained curatorial practices for a number of years.
CARFAC fees are paid for selected exhibitions.

Art City invites local, national, and international artists to submit proposals to lead collaborative art workshops at our studio in 2016 and early 2017.
Art City is a drop-in community art studio located in West Broadway, a culturally diverse and densely populated neighbourhood in the heart of Winnipeg’s inner city. Art City is open free-of-charge for anyone (all ages), engaging an average of 28 participants per evening. The vast majority of those who come to Art City are youth between the ages of 6 and 13 years. Older youth, adults, and seniors also regularly participate in Art City programs.

Triangle offers free, spacious studios and a dynamic artistic community to support the development of projects with emphasis on dialogue and experimentation. Our studios are located at 20 Jay Street in Brooklyn, New York. Artists have the option to apply for a 3 or 6-month residency period:

Beyond workspace, regular gatherings, outings, public events, open studios, and visits from curators are organized. Administrative and peer support is provided for all participating artists. Unlike many other residency programs, Triangle does not emphasize professionalization or specific outcomes but rather allows artists space, context and community within which to focus on ideas, research and process.
International and US-based artists or collectives working in any medium or discipline may apply. Finalists are chosen by a jury of artists and curators. Ideal candidates show significant promise and dedication to their work and are at a moment in which access to studio space and a supportive community in NYC will be particularly meaningful and transformative to their practice.
Through our open call program free studio space is provided and residents are responsible for housing, travel, visa, materials, etc. Triangle’s staff can assist accepted artists with recommendations for accommodation or suggestions of outside funding opportunities to apply for. All residents are expected to spend a minimum of 15 hours a week working in their studio.
Applications are due by January 15, 2016 at 11:59 PM (EST) and all applicants will be notified of final decisions by March 1, 2016. Online application form is here.

YARAT studios residency programme (Baku, Azerbaijan)
Each residency lasts three months. There will be three residency ‘periods’ available across the year, each of which will include a group of approximately ten artists.
The YARAT RESIDENCY PROGRAMME is intended for artists who are engaged in open, research-based practice across disciplines and show an interest in discovering the Caucasus region. The programme will allow residents to develop their work and to share a dialogue with a range of other artists, curators and collectors.
The residency includes:
– Studio space, accommodation and a stipend for the duration of the residency.
– A one-week international trip with all residents and curators to actively engage in research and discussions. Possible examples include a visit to Kazakhstan or Turkey.
– Monthly workshops with international curators.
– Workshops presenting opportunities to apply for prizes and other residencies.
– Weekly meetings with YARAT curators.
– Weekly artist meetings.
International residents will also receive one return flight to Baku, visa support and Accommodation in Baku.

ARNA’s vision is for The Avian Kingdom to become the world’s first UNESCO biosphere area with Culture as the fourth dimension of sustainability. As part of this long term goal ARNA will create projects that demonstrate culture’s importance for a sustainable development. Our first project in this new line will be ‘See, this is where I live, including two residency periods.
The main aim for the project is to let the participating artists work processes inspire children, living in connection to a future UNESCO biosphere area, to see their home area with open minds.
The project offers 2 participating artists the following: Flights (return ticket to Copenhagen from where ever you live), Free accommodation (two artists share house and studio space) and allowance/economical support for living expenses during the stay 22€/day (85$/day).

La #résidence des Rencontres de la jeune #photographie internationale, depuis son origine, se déroule à Niort, située aux portes du Marais Poitevin et à 60 kilomètres de la côte Atlantique. Elle accueille tous les ans huit jeunes créateurs internationaux sélectionnés sur dossier qui, cette année seront accompagnés durant tout leur séjour par Olivier Culmann. Ils seront soutenus techniquement par l’équipe du Centre d’art contemporain photographique-Villa Pérochon (association Pour l’Instant).
Un pôle technique, équipé de matériel professionnel comprenant un laboratoire argentique noir et blanc et un atelier numérique leur est réservé.
Ainsi entourés, les artistes sont invités à créer et expérimenter. C’est une véritable carte blanche offerte, stimulée par les rencontres, les échanges d’expériences et les parcours très différents de chaque participant. Un catalogue de l’exposition créée à Niort sera édité. C’est une expérience artistique unique !

Le Centre des arts du Yukon, Parcs Canada et le Service des parcs nationaux des États‐Unis sont à la recherche de trois artistes visuels ‐ un du Canada, un des États‐Unis, et un de la région (résidents du Yukon ou de l’Alaska) ‐ qui souhaitent participer à un parcours de création transfrontalière au parc historique national de la Ruée‐Vers‐l’Or‐du‐Klondike, en Alaska, et au lieu historique national de la Piste‐Chilkoot, en Colombie‐Britannique. Les organismes partenaires sont emballés d’offrir ce programme d’artistes en résidence unique de nouveau en 2014, pour la quatrième année consécutive.

« The Rooms Art Gallery » et le parc national du Gros-Morne ont établi un programme d’artistes résidents, basé dans ce magnifique parc national et Site du patrimoine mondial situé sur la côte ouest de Terre-Neuve. Peuvent se prévaloir du programme les professionnels des arts visuels du Canada et de l’étranger, quel que soit leur médium, qui s’inspirent de l’environnement naturel ou qui le représentent dans leur œuvre. Les périodes de résidence, échelonnées de mai à octobre.
Chaque année, artistes sont choisis pour le programme de résidence et reçoivent des honoraires. Toutes les demandes sont évaluées par un comité formé d’employés de « The Rooms Art Gallery » et de professionnels des arts visuels.

Camargo Foundation (Cassis, France) > Call for the core fellowships
The Camargo Foundation, located in Cassis, France and founded by artist and philanthropist Jerome Hill, is a residential center offering programming in the humanities and the arts. It offers time and space in a contemplative environment to think, create, and connect. The Foundation encourages the visionary work of scholars, artists, and leading thinkers in the arts and humanities.
Located in a small town of the South of France, facing the Mediterranean Sea, the Foundation offers an exceptional environment to think and create. The quiet campus and the surrounding landscape, Cap Canaille, and the Calanques national park enhance the residency experience. At the same time, Camargo is only a 45-minute drive from Marseille, and near Aix-en-Provence and Arles, which are major centers for arts, culture, and research.
The core Fellowship program offers six, eight, and eleven week residential fellowships to Artists, Scholars, and Leading Thinkers:
– Scholars and thinkers in arts and humanities should be working in French and Francophone cultures, including cross-cultural studies that engage the cultures and influences of the Mediterranean region. Thinkers include professionals such as curators, artistic and executive directors of cultural organizations, cultural critics, and academic deans
– Artists, in all disciplines, who are the primary creators of new work
The residency time is dedicated primarily to each Fellow’s work on site. Regular project discussions are organized in which each Fellow’s work is presented and discussed. Applicants must be fluent in English. Fellows may work individually or with a collaborator.
Fellows are housed in private apartments with kitchens on the Foundation’s campus, all with views of the Mediterranean and the Port of Cassis. A stipend of $800 US per month is available, as is coverage of basic travel expenses for the Fellow to and from Cassis. Spouses, partners, and children age six and older are welcome. Children must be enrolled in and attending school or off-campus activities.
This call is for two residency periods: one in Fall 2016 (2-month period from September 13 to November 8, 2016) and one in Winter/Spring 2017 (applicants may choose six, eight or eleven weeks beginning February 21, 2017).

In 2016 Cove Park will award a minimum of three funded Visual Arts Residencies, of between one to three months each, for individual national and international artists. Artists at any stage in their professional careers are welcome to apply to this programme. Our One-to-One programme (of one and two-week residencies for visual artists working collaboratively with another visual artist, with an artist working in another art form, a curator or a writer) will continue in 2016 and we will offer one residency in this strand. In addition, and with the support of the Bridge Awards, Cove Park will offer a two-week residency for an emerging visual artist based in Scotland. These residencies will all take place during May to September 2016.

Caldera Arts Center Artist Residencies, Oregon

Every winter from January through March, creative individuals and collaborative groups are awarded the gift of time and space at our beautiful Arts Center in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains near Sisters, Oregon, for month-long residencies.
Residencies are open to national and international artists in any discipline including 2-D, 3-D, installation, film, digital, photography, music, dance, theater, and literary, as well as creative thinkers in engineering, design, and the sciences, who have emerged and established themselves beyond university training. Caldera also accommodates parent-artists. In 2016, we are also opening additional residency opportunities to culinary artists.
APPLICATIONS
Applications for 2016 are now open through June 15, 2016. The applications process must be completed online through submittable.com. Apply here.
Those artists who wish to apply as collaborators must submit under the collaboration category. Mature, as well as emerging artists, are encouraged to apply. Artists in the United States, US citizens abroad, and international artists are eligible. Proposals for creative residencies must be compatible with available working studio spaces, facilities, and resources.

SELECTION PROCESS
Panels meet in late summer to review applications and invitations are made in early September. Artistic merit and promise are the basis for selections. While it is not required, an embrace of how art and nature communicate is encouraged at Caldera.
A panel of fellow artists and art professionals chooses 21-36 artists for residences each year. The panel changes annually in order to keep the program dynamic. Final awards of residencies are at the discretion of Caldera. In some special instances, artists are invited to participate without submitting an application.
Depending on funding, Caldera may make stipends available to attending residents. For more information about stipends, contact Elizabeth Quinn. Residents are responsible for food, travel, materials, and other expenses.
LIVING ENVIRONMENT
Residents are provided a private cabin (two walk-up log cabins and five A-frame cabins available) with sleeping loft, living room/work area, kitchenette, bathroom, and a porch overlooking Link Creek or with a view of Blue Lake from their windows. Cabins are heated by woodstove (with chopped wood provided) and electric heat. The kitchens have a coffeepot, two-burner stove, microwave, small refrigerator, dishes, and pots and pans. Once a week, dinner provided by Caldera, is shared as a group.
There is very little cell service at Caldera. Dependable service is a 20-minute drive away in Sisters. A landline is available to residents. A phone card is required for long-distance calls. Wi-Fi is available throughout the Hearth Building, studios, and cabins.
We regret that pets are not allowed. Caldera is a smoke-free environment.
Overnight accommodations are limited to invited residents only. Artists with children and a caretaker are the only exception. Studio time and teaching and presentation opportunities are only for artists invited through the application process. Accommodations for visitors are available in the local area community and range from 10 – 16 miles from Caldera.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Residents are given 24-hour access to studios and the time and space to create.
They have access to the Hearth Building where there is rehearsal and performance space, a mixing board, sound booth, speakers, a projector and large screen, and a well-equipped commercial kitchen. There is also shared access to wet and dry studios that house a darkroom, two kilns, 18” x 36” etching press, and large blank walls.
By design, residents form a small community of 7–12 artists, depending on the group. Collaboration and exchange is encouraged.
Writers and others not needing an expansive space, work in their A-frames, which contain a large table and living area. A shared loft space in the Hearth Building is optional for writers and digital artists.
Visual artists work in one of Caldera’s two studios. Campbell Studio is a semi-private space that holds two studios for visual artists of all kinds. One side of Campbell Studio has two kilns, drying shelves, a work table, sink and counter; the other side has large walls, a work table, a large and small sink and counters. Studio B has large walls, a sink, counter, work table, a darkroom and the etching press. Both studios include natural light and large loft spaces above the main floor.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Artists are not required to finish a project during their residency, but they share their work with the local community at our Open Studios events at the end of each month. Open Studios are held at our Arts Center on the last Saturday of every residency. They are free and open to the public.
Artists are also encouraged to do outreach projects with Caldera youth and in neighboring schools in the area. There are opportunities to present work or to create workshops for youth.Occasionally calls for applications for teaching residencies are announced at Caldera. L’association Les Ateliers du Plessix-Madeuc (près de Dinan, 22) propose une résidence de 3 mois à
deux jeunes peintres ou dessinateurs.
Conformément aux objectifs de l’association, cette résidence vise à :
1. Donner aux artistes les moyens matériels leur permettant de progresser dans leurs recherches,
dans un contexte typiquement breton.
2. Permettre aux habitants de la région d’être en contact avec des artistes professionnels et de
mieux appréhender l’art contemporain.
Conditions de la résidence :
– L’artiste bénéficie d’un logement avec atelier durant sa résidence ainsi que d’une allocation
de résidence de 2 000 euros (prix public ttc) sous forme de produits beaux-arts pour la
réalisation des œuvres qui seront présentées lors de l’exposition de fin de résidence.
– L’exposition, accompagnée d’une publication, dure 9 à 10 jours et a lieu à l’Abbaye de Léhon
(Dinan).
– L’artiste se rend disponible durant les manifestations publiques de l’association (Portes
Ouvertes, conférences, expositions, journées techniques).
– L’artiste accepte de réaliser des interventions non rémunérées (3 à 4 jours sur les trois mois)
auprès des publics des Ateliers du Plessix-Madeuc (scolaires, personnes âgées ou handicapées,
entreprises…).
– L’artiste donnera à l’association une des œuvres présentées lors de l’exposition.

– Être diplômé d’une école de Beaux-Arts ou d’un diplôme équivalent
– Avoir 35 ans maximum

Atelier Topaz – résidence Opasatika, Ontario, Canada
Le lieu
Situés au cœur de la forêt boréale, les Ateliers Topaz sont à la fois un lieu de retraite et un centre de création pour artistes, toutes disciplines confondues. L’endroit parfait pour la réflexion, l’évasion. Le groupement d’édifices fait 900 mètres carrés et repose sur 14 hectares face à la route Transcanadienne. Il donne sur un étang de deux hectares. Topaz c’est la « Route 66 » dans le nord de l’Ontario. L’endroit, modeste et nostalgique, rappelle aussi les grandes épopées de la colonisation francophone de l’Ontario. Ces studios de création ou cette résidence d’artistes, endroit idéal pour les arts visuels, sont situés au centre du Canada, à mi-chemin entre l’Atlantique et le Pacifique, là où les étoiles deviennent les topazes de la nuit.
Ce qu’on offre
D’abord l’espace et, l’espace de travail déterminés selon les besoins de l’artiste. Les espaces polyvalents permettent d’y faire de la peinture, de la sculpture, de l’installation, etc. L’atelier de menuiserie, le Bar à clou, est équipé des outils de base. Un magasin d’objets trouvés est disponible autant pour l’inspiration que pour l’utilisation dans une œuvre. Le peintre apporte ses pinceaux, le musicien son instrument et l’écrivain son ordi.
Les personnes qui séjournent aux Ateliers Topaz jouissent de l’accès à la cuisine et sont responsables de préparer leurs repas. Toutefois Laurent peut aussi leur cuisiner de petits plats typiquement canadiens-français aux besoins ou aux désirs. Topaz possède deux suites avec lit double et une chambre avec lit simple. Chacune possède sa salle de toilette avec douche. Ces installations évoquent admirablement le style des années 1960. Pour la baignade, le Lac des Cœurs se situe à deux kilomètres à l’est. Pour le canotage ou la pèche, la rivière Opasatika est deux kilomètres à l’ouest. Pour se déplacer, il y a de vieux vélos ou la marche. Pour un frais très raisonnable, votre hôte peut aussi vous conduire ou organiser un déplacement vers Kapuskasing à l’est ou vers Hearst à l’ouest. Les matériaux d’artistes ne sont pas disponibles dans la région. Il est donc important de faire vos achats avant votre séjour, à moins que vous travailliez avec des matériaux que l’on peut se procurer dans des magasins ordinaires ou même en nature.

The District of Squamish is seeking submissions from artists with
experience in producing artwork for public spaces for the “Connecting
Squamish Neighbourhoods” project. The opportunity is to enhance the

located within a different Squamish neighbourhood.

Cheng-Long Wetlands International Environmental Art Project (Taiwan)
The theme for 2016 is “Meet the Future in Cheng Long: The Next 30 Years”. CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS – OUTDOOR SCULPTURE 2016
Oeno Gallery’s Sculpture Garden at Huff Estates opened on June 25, 2011 as a place dedicated to the exhibition of world class outdoor sculpture. The 4 acre garden has become a prized feature of the property and has received thousands of visitors to date.
The gallery invites artists to submit proposals for the garden’s 5th exhibition year. The property offers a wide variety of sites for placement. Areas to consider include the sculpture garden proper, the outdoor area by the winery, the zone immediately surrounding the gallery, and the pond (limestone quarry). Proposals will be reviewed and selected by the gallery.
Sculptures must be original, durable, and safe for viewing by the public in an unsupervised natural area. They must be able to withstand year-round weather conditions and tolerate strong winds. The work must also be available for sale. The artist is responsible for the transportation, installation and removal of their work.
