La Galerie McClure du Centre des arts visuels accepte présentement des soumissions pour la saison d’exposition 2017-2018. Les artistes contemporains œuvrant dans toutes les disciplines artistiques ainsi que les commissaires ayant un projet d’exposition sont invités à soumettre un dossier. Les artistes ayant exposé à la galerie au cours des cinq dernières années sont priés d’attendre avant de soumettre de nouveau un projet d’exposition. En conformité avec son mandat, la Galerie McClure donne la priorité aux soumissions provenant des artistes contemporains résidants à Montréal.

Les résultats sont envoyés par la poste trois mois plus tard.

Le Centre d’art Jacques-et-Michel-Auger, le centre d’exposition en arts visuels et médiatiques contemporains de Victoriaville, invite les artistes et les collectifs d’artistes professionnels ainsi que les commissaires à soumettre un projet d’exposition pour sa programmation 2018-2019.

Le centre est ouvert à la diversité des pratiques contemporaines en arts visuels. Il valorise des démarches engagées dans la recherche et dans le renouvellement des disciplines. Le Centre d’art Jacques-et-Michel-Auger s’investit au quotidien dans une médiation culturelle de qualité tant pour les publics adultes que pour les jeunes.

Les artistes sélectionnés reçoivent des droits d’exposition, un forfait de transport et peuvent compter sur une équipe technique aguerrie.

Le comité de sélection accorde une attention particulière aux propositions d’artistes ou d’organismes professionnels de Victoriaville et sa région. Soucieux de la valeur de la diversité culturelle dans nos milieux,  le centre accorde également une attention particulière aux propositions d’artistes des premiers peuples et des communautés culturelles.

Les critères de sélection sont : la pertinence de la démarche artistique, la qualité et la diversité des propositions en regard de l’ensemble de la programmation annuelle.

La date limite pour soumettre un dossier est le 1er octobre 2017.

Installations et performances en Vitrine

HABITER L’INCERTITUDE D’UNE VITRINE

TOPO, centre d’artistes montréalais en arts numériques, lance un appel de projets pour sa vitrine d’exposition : un espace vitré de 10 m2 / 100 pi2 pouvant recevoir de petites installations et performances médiatiques et interactives.

La Vitrine est située dans le couloir au rez-de-chaussée du Pôle de Gaspé, accueillant espaces commerciaux, culturels et artistiques, dont six centres d’artistes de diffusion et de production. Au sein de cet environnement, la vitrine capte l’attention et suscite diverses réflexions autour de l’occupation du lieu et de la production in situ.

Espace de monstration fermé, la vitrine s’apparente tout à la fois à une arène de jeu et d’animation, un petit théâtre, une galerie d’art ou un étalage marchand. Le cadre est imposé. Espace contraint et transparent mais reflétant aussi l’image des passants et du couloir, la vitrine engage le visiteur dans une médiation directe avec l’œuvre. Les reflets troublent la réception. Le lieu est public.

Que représente une vitrine dans ce contexte ? Comment habiter la Vitrine ?
Comment insuffler un « effet de présence » à cet espace ?
Comment réfléchir aux notions d’interaction et d’interactivité entre le dedans et le dehors ?
Comment activer une relation entre l’œuvre prise à l’intérieur de la vitrine et son visiteur de l’autre côté, pris dans un couloir ?

APPEL DE PROJETS

Pour sa programmation 2018-2019, TOPO recherche des propositions de performances et d’installations favorisant, dans ces conditions, l’exploration du texte, de l’image et du son, à la fois dans leurs dimensions physique et écranique : mots animés dans l’espace, dispositifs interactifs, performances participatives, actions évolutives, etc.

Nous recherchons aussi des propositions d’intermèdes, d’animations ponctuelles et d’interventions de courte durée.

Les projets finalisés ou en cours de réalisation et démontrant un engagement solide de la part des artistes seront favorisés. Les critères de sélection tiennent compte de la pertinence et de la faisabilité des projets dans le contexte proposé. Dans son analyse, le centre est aussi attentif aux diverses formes de présentation et de formulation de pratiques issues de la diversité artistique et culturelle. Les artistes intéressé-es par cet appel de projets sont invité-es à soumettre leur dossier d’ici le 30 septembre 2017.

Les artistes sélectionné-e-s bénéficient des moyens suivants :

– cachet de diffusion;

– accès aux équipements informatiques et audiovisuels du centre (voir en ligne) ;

– deux jours de montage avec technicien;

– organisation d’un événement de diffusion avec carton, communiqué et affiche promotionnels;

– rédaction d’un texte d’auteur sur le projet présenté.

Les frais de transport et de séjour ne sont pas assumés par TOPO. Dans le cas des artistes résidant hors Montréal, les frais de transport et de séjour devront faire l’objet d’une entente spécifique.

Le centre d’artistes montréalais TOPO est un laboratoire d’écritures et de créations numériques pour les espaces du web, de la performance et de l’installation. Son mandat est d’incuber, de produire et de diffuser des œuvres multimédias originales qui explorent les croisements interdisciplinaires et interculturels des arts numériques.

Programmation 2018-2019 d’Arprim

Les artistes, les collectifs et les commissaires professionnels ayant des pratiques actuelles liées aux arts imprimés sont invités à proposer un projet d’exposition ou d’événement (projet ponctuel, lancement de livre d’artiste, performance, etc.) pour la programmation 2018-2019 d’Arprim.

Arprim aborde l’imprimé comme un média ouvert, mobile, social et accessible. Le centre se définit comme un espace d’essai et d’expérience propice au développement d’une vision pluraliste de l’art imprimé. En tant que diffuseur de l’art actuel, il contribue à accroître la visibilité de pratiques émergentes en art imprimé en présentant des expositions, des événements, des actions hors les murs et en organisant des événements spéciaux.

Arprim s’engage à couvrir les frais reliés à la salle d’exposition, aux communications et au vernissage.

Local, national and international artists are invited to submit proposals for performative works to be presented as part of the M:ST 9 Festival in October 2018. M:ST encourages the submission of innovative performances, exhibitions, media, audio and site-specific works, public interventions, residencies, workshops, lectures, and panel discussion based proposals.

About the M:ST Festival
Since its inception in 2001, the Mountain Standard Time Performative Art Festival has showcased challenging, diverse, and interdisciplinary performative works. M:ST ensures that the exceptional quality of performative art is recognized and sustained in the Southern Alberta region. Review Procedure
Proposals are selected through a peer review process by the M:ST Programming Committee. The Committee consists of local artists, writers, and curators who have extensive visual, performance and media art backgrounds. Proposals will be selected based on consideration of the following criteria: artistic merit of the proposed project, fit with the M:ST mandate, feasibility of the proposed budget, and the ability of M:ST and its member organizations to provide appropriate space/support for the project.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS – TAIS Artist in Residence Program
Research and Production in Animation
Deadline: September 29, 2017

This program supports the production of new animated work by artists
through a combination of funding and in-kind resources. The fourth
year of the program is seeking ONE (1) Canadian artist for a three
month residency, and ONE (1) International artist for a one month
residency, to each engage in self-directed work towards the completion
of a new independent animated film or video. These residencies will
occur between April – October 2018, and come with a combination of
$2,000/month in monetary funding and in-kind use of studio space,
equipment and resources at TAIS Studios, located at 1411 Dufferin
Street, in downtown Toronto.

Emerging artists, curators, community activators, and groups are encouraged to submit to Gallery A and Art Lab. These spaces within The Robert McLaughlin Gallery are dedicated to providing professional development opportunities and supporting community activation.

Applications are accepted online here. We suggest that you have all your materials ready before you begin the application. Online applications will close at 11:59pm on October 15, 2017.

The process is free, and the online application process happens twice per year – March and October. A team of past program participants selects future projects. Once you have submitted your proposal we will contact you to schedule a brief interview. Both aspects of your proposal – written and verbal – will be taken into consideration, along with our priority criteria.

Priority will be given to projects that are:

• Experimental and collaborative;
• Inclusive of multiple perspectives and engage underrepresented or marginalized artists. This includes, but is not limited to artists, art practices and communities that are Aboriginal, Culturally Diverse (POC), Deaf, Disabled or LGBT2Q;

Canadian Artists: Short film, animation and video.

BROADCAST LAB is an exciting micro-cinema programming at Arts Commons in Calgary, Alberta. Through a peer assessment selection process, Broadcast Lab programs up to 24 national media artists annually running three months in duration. The media art appears on three television monitors located throughout Arts Commons. This project reaches a diverse audience of all ages; content must be suitable for public spaces. Ice Breakers 2018 – Call For Proposals

Brief

Ice Breakers is now embarking on its second year of producing and exhibiting temporary public art works along Queens Quay within Toronto, Canada’s Waterfront for winter 2018. For this year, we are opening an international design competition for the selection of five (5) artist teams to provide installations for five (5) unique sites. The exhibition is to run January 19, 2018 until February 25, 2018.

This is a single-stage open international competition, welcoming artists, designers, architects and landscape architects to submit concept proposals for Ice Breakers’ temporary artwork installations.

Ice Breakers is an initiative presented by Toronto’s Waterfront Business Improvement Area (BIA), developed and produced by Winter Stations Inc., the team behind the annual Winter Stations International Design Competition bringing temporary public art installations to Toronto’s Beach.

 

Theme

For Ice Breakers’ second year the theme is “Constellation”. This can be interpreted in various ways, but we are hoping to see work that is challenging, while also accessible, reminding the public that public art can be fun and engaging. Artists may choose to converse with the winter constellations of the Northern Hemisphere, playing with astrology, mythology, history and with stellar form and earthly representation.

As always, the intention is to bring colour, warmth and activity to the water’s edge, inviting people out of their buildings to take a winter walk along the Waterfront and appreciate the unique Toronto landscape at this time of year.

There is no limit to the size of the installation, but please note that included in the jurors’ instructions will be durability and constructability. Installations cannot exceed the total cost outlined. Installations may consist of a singular object or a configuration of dispersed elements.

Winning teams will be provided with an allowance for travel and accommodation to spend time in Toronto during the installation and the activities surrounding the opening, January 18, 2018.

Selection and Approval Process

Once the Jury has met and determined a short list of entrants, a technical review of the finalists will be conducted in order to ensure the constructability of the projects. Those on the shortlist will be assigned a construction team lead by a project manager, chosen by the organizers to produce the appropriate working drawings to ensure that the construction is feasible and within budget. This collaboration will take place from November 2017 through to installation. The final winners will be announced December 1, 2017.

All construction will be carried out in Toronto by firms selected by the organizers and overseen by the entrant, the project manager and the construction team. The entrants chosen to participate in this competition agree to work to the schedule established by the organizers.

INTERSITE VISUAL ARTS: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Intersite Visual Arts advocates for contemporary art practices through
the decentralized presentation of exhibitions, happenings, and
performances outside of the traditional gallery setting. By actively
engaging unsuspecting audiences in the public sphere, Intersite seeks
to create a supportive and receptive climate to foster the development
and innovative presentation of contemporary art.

A Calgary-based initiative, Intersite is a collaborative program
presented by six local contemporary art centres: EMMEDIA Gallery &
Production Society, M:ST Performative Art Festival, Stride Gallery, The
New Gallery, TRUCK Contemporary Art in Calgary, and Untitled Art
Society.

Intersite is currently seeking proposals to produce a site-specific
project to be presented in April / May / June of 2018. Through this
opportunity, the selected artist, collective and/or curator will be
commissioned to create and present a project that activates the cultural
landscape of Calgary and considers alternative spaces, engages
diverse publics, and challenges traditional forms of contemporary art
presentation.

The following materials should be included in your application:

1. Proposal: Describe your project. Provide complete details of your
geographic and material requirements, including any special equipment
and technical needs (maximum 1 page)

2. Budget: Provide a detailed budget of expenses including production,
artist fees, travel, and accommodation (if applicable) to a maximum of
$3,000.00.

3. Support: Please include up to ten pieces of additional support
material, including digital images, videos, text excerpts, or audio clips
alongside a corresponding numbered inventory list detailing all
necessary descriptive information. We will review up to a maximum of
five minutes of time-based work.

4. Curriculum vitae: Describe your artistic background and include all
relevant contact information (maximum 3 pages)

Submissions are only accepted via email. Please format all written
materials as a single .pdf document. Images must be labeled with the
applicants lastname_firstname and numbered chronologically as .jpg
files no larger than 1 MB in size. We accept links to video and audio
work hosted online. Emailed applications must be submitted in a single

2017 CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
LINEs OF FLIGHT

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 15, 2017

This year PAVED Arts is issuing a thematic call for submissions that will form the basis of a single curated exhibition. This project is designed to provide full CARFAC fee support, travel, accommodations, per diem, in-kind support from our production centre, materials budget, etc. Most importantly, a longer time for undertaking production at PAVED Arts will be accorded to the successful applicant(s). The 2-3 week “mini-residency” period will be proceeded by a correspondence and exchange with the Artistic Director, and provide for time and space to prepare and respond to the gallery and the surrounding community.

LINEs OF FLIGHT (Working title)

Background Premise
In their seminal work A Thousand Plateaus, Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari develop the concept of a Line of Flight as a partial account for how organisms (any living organ-ization or body) manage to, under certain conditions, escape the limitations of identity and territory. They identify three tendencies in relation to this process. The first tendency involves holding to an established territory, which in turn tends to locate and fix content and expression. Conversely, departing from territory, the act of deterritorialization, tends to place content and expression into movement and variation. Both tendencies are regularly taken up as necessary aspects of an organic process. However, there also exists an experimental margin of activity that explores the outside in a manner that is not reconcilable. A Line of Flight constitutes this more radical departure, one that breaks with territory in a way that changes the very composition of a given assemblage, thus entering new territory and becoming truly different. The Line of Flight does not return to an ordinal sense of “identity,” rather the departure establishes new connections that can not be fully anticipated.

Project Proposals: Approach
Proposals responding to this call should include an articulation of artistic interests, political bearings, and past exhibitions and experiences, but only as points of departure. We are looking to engage projects that are experimental to the extent that methodology and social/political attitudes remain open to encounters with other artists and the broader community. In this sense proposals may introduce relevant problematics: dynamic and responsive questions that become manifest in the space through an encounter with the space and the community at large. The LINEs OF FLIGHT project will be curated on the basis of enabling artistic projects that work with the material of a situation, while bringing to bear the peculiar and idiosyncratic sensibilities of the artist and her/his project.

Submissions to the LINEs OF FLIGHT project may target the PAVED Arts Main gallery space, sound separated Media Gallery, the shared PAVED Arts/aka artist run billboard space, or any combination thereof.

Exhibition of art plays a major role in the mandate of Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre. We are proud to host a diverse array of contemporary art in our newly renovated gallery spaces in the historic Sunbury Shores building on Water Street.

Sunbury Shores offers Juried Exhibitions as well as Signature Invitational Exhibitions. Both programs are designed to enrich and develop the arts in Charlotte County.

Annually 6-8 Juried Exhibitions are mounted based on the recommendation of a professional jury who review applications for group and solo shows. This program aims to showcase a range of media and assist artists in career building opportunities. This is the main stream for artists and groups interested in exhibiting at Sunbury Shores. We are calling for images of socially-engaged community work. What do you do as a feminist, artist and researcher in your own communities?

EXHIBITION CALL: WIAprojects at Centre for Women’s Studies in Education, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto is showcasing women’s – and especially feminist – socially-engaged community activity in an exhibit in the CWSE Hallway Gallery this coming Jan. 2018. Our expectation is that the works will specifically explore where we, nationally, as women and/or as feminists are situated after Canada 150.

Who are you – Individual? Group? Collective? Are you from a rural area or urban center? How do you respond to and enliven the hopes, wishes, and activities of/in your communities? Who do you work with and how? How have you spoken to or/and facilitated in assisting with meeting the needs of a diverse population or a specific group? Do you have a powerful image that speaks to this work that you do?

We are asking for submissions of printed colour images on good quality photo paper in 4” x 6” (vertical or horizontal) format. You may send up to three images (indicate an order of preference) and we will try and show them all but, if space becomes limited, we may have to choose one. In order to defray costs we are asking for an administrative fee of $25 for the submission of one image ($10 for each individual image beyond the first one – up to total of $45 for 3 images) to cover framing, hanging, advertising and administrative costs. Artspace is dedicated to presenting work from contemporary artists working in a variety of disciplines. The centre strives to present art that reflects and promotes the diversity of cultural and political perspectives that shape contemporary art practices. Submissions from emerging, mid-career and senior artists whose works is alternative, experimental and/or critically engaged are welcome. The centre welcomes submissions from individual artists, curators, and collectives to apply with new or existing exhibition proposals. Artspace is seeking proposals for Gallery 1 and 2, as well as offsite and curatorial projects relevant to the centre’s mandate.

Programming Policy
Proposals are judged in relation to Artspace’s mandate and programming focus. Submissions that arrive after each deadline will be held over until the next deadline. In order to present a cohesive yearly program, our committees review materials from both deadlines, and decisions are often not made for many months. Southern Alberta Art Gallery (SAAG) Submission Guidelines
Exhibition proposals are accepted throughout the year and reviews are ongoing.  Selection is carried out over a period of time through studio visits and correspondence with artists and curators in whom the gallery has an interest.  Those interested in proposing their work to SAAG are asked to include with their submission: a curriculum vitae, an artist statement and/or letter of intent, a wide selection of images, and other relevant support material. Submissions should be mailed to:

The gallery will not return your submission – please do not send original artworks or valuable materials.   Given the large number of submissions received by the gallery, formal letters of reply will only be issued to proposals of immediate interest.

Exhibitions are generally six weeks in length.  An opening is held to introduce the work to the public.  Artists are also invited to give an illustrated lecture on their work in conjunction with the University of Lethbridge Faculty of Fine Art during the academic year.  Other special events (workshops, panel discussions, etc.) are considered on a case-by-case basis.

The Southern Alberta Art Gallery pays CARFAC fees, shipping and insurance, and often seeks funding to produce catalogues for the exhibition.  All publications, including our quarterly newsletter GALLERY (which discusses and reproduces work by exhibiting artists along with other programming), are exchanged with other institutions in Canada and abroad.
