APPEL DE DOSSIERS PROGRAMMATION 2013-2014 articule est un centre d’artistes autogéré qui se consacre à la diffusion d’un large éventail de pratiques en art actuel et s’intéressant plus particulièrement à l’engagement social, à l’interdisciplinarité et à l’expérimentation artistique. articule soutient les artistes de la relève ainsi que ceux ayant établi des précédents importants et qui continuent à prendre des risques. articule invite les artistes, les collectifs d’artistes et les commissaires locaux, nationaux et internationaux, ainsi que toutes les personnes intéressées à établir un dialogue avec les arts actuels, à proposer un projet pour sa programmation de septembre 2013 à juin 2014. Nous acceptons les expositions, projets et recherches de différentes natures ayant lieu à la galerie, hors les murs ou en ligne; ainsi que les collaborations (entre individus, organismes, institutions, disciplines..). GALERIE DU CENTRE DES ARTS ET DE LA CULTURE DIEPPE
À propos du Centre des arts et de la culture et sa galerie
Le Centre des arts et de la culture, ouvert au public depuis septembre 2010, est la seule institution artistique et culturelle dans la Ville de Dieppe ; il est un lieu rassembleur ancré dans sa collectivité dont la mission est de renforcer l’identité culturelle de la jeunesse et de la communauté environnante en encourageant la créativité et la participation aux activités artistiques et culturelles.
La galerie du CACD contribue à l’épanouissement de plusieurs artistes et, par le fait même, expose sa communauté aux arts visuels. La salle d’exposition du CACD se démarque par ses installations techniques à la fine pointe de la technologie (système d’accrochage, éclairage) ainsi que par le fait que le CACD rémunère, comme il se doit, les artistes au taux CARFAC pour leurs expositions. Cet espace est réservé aux artistes professionnels et est un ajout important au circuit des galeries dans la région.
Pour nous soumettre une proposition
Nous invitons les artistes œuvrant dans toutes les pratiques d’arts VISUELS à faire parvenir des propositions de projets futurs pour la saison 2013-2014.
Modalités
• La date de tombée est 16 h 30 le vendredi 30 novembre 2012;
• Des accusés de réceptions seront expédiés pour tous les dossiers reçus;
• Les dossiers seront évalués par un comité de sélection;
• Nous ne communiquerons qu’avec les artistes dont la proposition aura été retenue;
• Veuillez noter que la programmation peut s’étaler sur des périodes de douze à trente-six mois.
• La durée des expositions est de trois mois;
• La superficie de la salle est de 1578 pi²

VIVA! Art Action est un festival biennal dédié au soutien et au rayonnement de l’art action qui inclut – sans se limiter à – la performance, les manœuvres, les interventions publiques, l’action corporelle et l’art furtif. Située au Bain St-Michel (une ancienne piscine publique du vibrant quartier Mile-end de Montréal) et dans les alentours, cette quatrième édition du festival offre aux artistes un environnement vivant et propice au soutien des pratiques artistiques émergentes, éphémères, imprévisibles et toujours en mouvance.
Pour favoriser une atmosphère conviviale entre artistes, favorable aux échanges, à la création et à la confrontation d’idées, les deux premiers jours de VIVA! 2013 seront exclusivement consacrés aux rencontres entre les artistes et les professionnels faisant partie de l’événement. La programmation artistique comprendra des opportunités structurées et spontanées pour la présentation d’œuvres, permettant aux artistes invités qui le désirent d’intervenir plusieurs fois pendant leur séjour d’une semaine.
VIVA! invite les artistes et collectifs de provenance locale, nationale ou internationale à nous décrire leurs démarches et leurs intentions artistiques. Toute pratique en art action sera considérée, qu’elle soit présentée dans un des lieux de diffusion officiels (l’ancien Bain St-Michel et les espaces et vitrines des centres d’artistes participants), ou dans l’espace public, la sphère privée ou des non-lieux.
VIVA! respecte la grille tarifaire RAAV/CARFAC 2012 pour établir les cachets versés aux artistes, offre des repas quotidiens communautaires et contribue aux frais de déplacement et de séjour.

Fondée en 1973 et issue des mouvements féministes, La Centrale Galerie Powerhouse est un des plus anciens centres d’artistes autogérés du Québec. La galerie s’est donnée pour mandat de développer les pratiques artistiques féministes et de soutenir la visibilité d’artistes et d’initiatives moins ou peu représentées auprès des institutions culturelles établies. Le centre encourage les artistes à toutes les étapes de leur carrière afin de favoriser les échanges intergénérationnels.
Le centre a pour objectif d’offrir une plateforme pour les langages en art actuel portés par les discours féministes, les théories du genre, la diversité culturelle et la transdisciplinarité. Nous accueillons des propositions pour des projets d’expositions et de performances qui répondent à ces théma- tiques.
Forte de sa longue expérience et riche d’une programmation audacieuse en performance, le centre lance cet appel de dossiers aux artistes en art action et performance à l’occasion des activités qui marqueront le 40ème anniversaire de la Centrale débutant en 2013 et culminant en 2014.
Le volet performance sera intégré dans le cadre de la programmation de La Centrale et également durant le Festival VIVA !art action à l’automne 2013. Une attention particulière sera portée aux propositions de performances ayant attrait au matrimoine artistique féministe, à l’histoire de cette pratique et son dialogue avec les pratiques performatives actuelles.
L’appel est ouvert aux artistes à l’échelle locale, nationale, et internationale.
La sélection des propositions est effectuée par le comité de performance. Les réponses seront envoyées par la poste ou par courriel dans un délai de 3 mois après la date de tombée.

Avez-vous réalisé une vidéo avec l’aide de Saw au cours de l’année 2012 ?
Chaque année, Saw Vidéo organise l’événement RÉSOLUTION, une projection publique mettant en vedette de nouvelles œuvres produites par nos membres. Nous sommes à la recherche d’œuvres de nos membres complétées en 2012 et qui pourraient être considérées pour l’édition 2013 de RÉSOLUTION. Veuillez lire les instructions attentivement avant de soumettre une proposition.
Vous pouvez soumettre n’importe quel genre de matériel, aussi bien expérimental que dramatique, documentaire ou d’animation. La durée de l’œuvre ne peut excéder 25 minutes. Vous pouvez proposer plusieurs créations et vous pouvez aussi envoyer une ébauche (rough cut) de votre travail. Nous acceptons les projets en format DVD, VHS et miniDV, en ficher QuickTime ou sur une clé USB. Si vous désirez que nous vous remettions votre document, veuillez nous le signaler.
Assurez-vous de joindre les informations suivantes à vos vidéos : année de production, format, durée, genre, liste des principaux participants, court descriptif de l’œuvre, une courte biographie du réalisateur et les coordonnées de celui-ci.

Nous invitons les artistes professionnels à proposer des projets innovants qui s’éloignent du cadre habituel d’exposition, s’infiltrent dans l’espace public et s’inspirent des caractéristiques du lieu dans lequel ils se retrouvent afin de le questionner, de l’interpréter, de le modeler et de le transformer.

Depuis plus de 25 ans, le centre d’artistes Espace Virtuel fait la promotion du travail des artistes en arts visuels, soutient leurs recherches, agit comme médiateur culturel, stimule l’échange et la réflexion critique autour de l’œuvre et de son créateur, participe à la synergie de son milieu en collaborant avec les organisations possédant des objectifs communs.
Point de suspension, la librairie spécialisée du centre, soutient la rédaction et la diffusion de textes d’auteurs et organise des conférences ainsi que des soirées de discussion sur l’art, son marché, ses institutions et sa critique. Pour chaque exposition présentée dans la galerie, la librairie Point de suspension ajoute à ses rayons une sélection de livres liée au contenu du travail présenté.
Espace Virtuel participe à la diversité des pratiques artistiques diffusées en travaillant sans cloisonnement disciplinaire et en soutenant tous les types de productions en arts visuels. Le centre diffuse le travail des artistes de la relève, émergents et établis. Notre direction artistique met l’emphase sur la réactualisation des langages artistiques, la sensibilité du discours de l’artiste et les approches novatrices. Espace Virtuel assure une diffusion représentative des pratiques actuelles.
Appel de dossier :
En vue de la saison 2013-2014, Espace Virtuel invite les artistes professionnels à soumettre leur dossier à son comité de programmation. Il est à noter que le centre envisage une programmation 2013-2014 tournée en partie vers des expositions collectives. Ainsi, les dossiers soumis ne doivent pas nécessairement proposer un projet nouveau ou en cours de réalisation, puisque l’ensemble du dossier visuel sera considéré et qu’une œuvre antérieure pourrait se voir sélectionnée par notre comité de programmation.

The Town of Banff Community Art Committee is pleased to invite artists from across Canada to participate in two exciting, high-impact public art installations. Proposals are now being accepted for 2D artwork which will be digitally produced and installed in two locations within the Banff town site: one 8 ft. x 10 ft. horizontal panel mounted on the back wall of the two-storey Banff Town Hall, and one horizontal 24 ft. x 30 ft. panel mounted on a wall oriented toward a public surface parking lot. New Adventures in Sound Art (NAISA) invites artists of all ages and nationalities to submit works on the theme SONIC GEOGRAPHY: exploring Space & Sound for consideration in New Adventures in Sound Art’s 2013 programming in Toronto, Canada.
The NAISA Space is located in a 100 year old building originally constructed as a repair barns for the city’s streetcar trollies. The sound of these trollies over the past 100 years has become a signature of the Toronto soundscape. In recognizing this important local milestone NAISA is asking artists to consider sounds that speak of place and that help identify communities.
Preference in programming will be given to works that respond in some way to the theme of SONIC GEOGRAPHY: exploring Space & Sound. Individual interpretations or variations on the theme are encouraged, but should be realized with sound as the primary component. NAISA would also like to encourage artists to submit works for performance, gallery exhibit, screening, webcast or audio stream, radio broadcast, network or translocal performance, mobile experiences and any other emerging formats that include sound as a primary element. Blank Canvas: 351 Indoor Art Commission
Commissioned art installation for 351 Water Street, the first new office building in downtown St. John’s in more than 25 years.
East Port Properties is commissioning a piece of artwork for an indoor public art installation to be permanently displayed at 351 Water Street. This artwork will help establish a lasting legacy, celebrating the arts, culture, and heritage of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The commission, valued at $100,000, is open to all artists who demonstrate a significant affiliation to the province. It is not limited to those currently residing in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Vector Film and Video Program
Vector Game + Art Convergence is a four day Game Art Festival and symposium centred around games as the tool and inspiration for contemporary art making.
Vector (http://www.vectorgameartfest.tumblr.com), Canada’s first ever festival focusing on video game art, invites you to submit to its inaugural edition taking place February 21-24, 2013 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Machinima is a recent moving image art form that involves re-purposing the computer graphics found in video games in order to create new cinematic productions. Although early machinima was gamer oriented it has since been used to create a new form of video art that combines hacker aesthetics with found footage practices. In addition, machinima has been used by artists to as to critique and comment upon video game culture, alienation of contemporary culture, death and many other themes.
We are looking for work that experiments with the concept of machinima to produce engaging films and videos. In other words, the work should make use of video game footage or video game engines in some capacity. Narrative work will be considered, but the work should push the boundaries of traditional/classical Hollywood narrative cinema in some capacity. Due to programming restrictions we are looking for work under 20 minutes, however, please contact us if you have made a longer work and and feel that it fits fits our mandate.
We are seeking works from artists in all stages of their creative careers from emerging to established.

KINO DER KUNST, a new and worldwide unique combination of film festival and art exhibition, will hold its first edition from April 24 to 28, 2013. Movie theatres and museums all over Munich will present an International Competition, retrospectives, special focuses, talks and multi-channel installations. KINO DER KUNST investigates the relationship between visual art and cinema, the programmatic focus being the current approach of filming artists to fiction and narration.
We invite visual artists from all over the world to submit their recent works to the International Competition. All entries must reveal an innovative approach to the various narrative forms of cinema on a high technical level. They must have been produced after January 1, 2011. An international jury featuring, among others, New York artist Cindy Sherman, artist and filmmaker Isaac Julien from London and Jean de Loisy, director of Palais de Tokyo in Paris, will award two main prizes totalling 20,000 USD.

Beers.Lambert Contemporary announces a new award for emerging artists worldwide: the First Annual Beers.Lambert Award for Emerging Art is a prize awarded to up to 8 emerging, contemporary artists working in all disciplines and open to artists internationally.
As one of its primary operating initiatives, Beers.Lambert’s artist-support program has always believed in nurturing emerging artists and celebrating excellence in emerging contemporary art. Now, our newest initiative coincides with our gallery relocation to its brand new space on Baldwin Street at Old Street in the heart of the East London. The Beers.Lambert Award for Emerging Artwas born and devised as a method to recognize outstanding achievement and/or promise in the arts and to present emerging artists with a unique exhibition opportunity in London, and offer international exposure to under-represented artists to help them succeed.
The award is fully intended to acknowledge and celebrate an outstanding group of artists in each of the primary artistic disciplines by offering (monetary and non-monetary) recognition for international emerging artists who can be seen as shaping the direction of contemporary art through commitment and dedication to their artistic practice. The purpose of the award is to recognize progression, innovation, excellence and ‘general talent’ in 4 predominating artistic fields: painting and drawing; photography and 2D; sculpture, installation and 3d; as well as a final multidisciplinary category that acknowledges video art, performance, new-media, and other formsthat may defy classification. By way of open call and juried selection, the award will be given to two artists working within each discipline – one primary and one secondary recipient will be awarded in each category to a total of 8 awarded artists – who not only meet, but excel within the given criteria. The 4 primary award recipients will each receive $1,000USD and the 4 secondary award recipients will each receive $250USD. Chaque année, la Fondation François Schneider consacre pour les « Talents Contemporains » une enveloppe globale maximale de 300 000 € qui se décompose en deux parties :
Une enveloppe de 150 000 € pour l’acquisition de sept œuvres.

This issue of Media-N attempts to trace ways new media continues to transform and extend feminist practice and thought.
DESCRIPTION:
As the Internet entered the popular imagination in the early 1990s, many strands of feminism engaged with new media to produce exciting critical and creative work described as cyberfeminism, techno-feminism, e-feminism, digital feminism, or a variety of other terms. Some feminists critiqued technological development as an extension of existing patriarchal systems, while others eschewed critique and instead playfully or defiantly utilized technology to author their own visions. With the World Wide Web now beginning its third decade, it’s time to reassess the work of these digital feminisms, to trace their genealogies and transformations, to explore their current manifestations, and to envision what forms and roles they may assume in the future. On one hand, many problems that prompted feminist interventions in new media two decades ago persist today and, in some cases, have intensified. [1] On the other hand, salient projects—many of them pushing the boundaries of new media art far into the realms of political activism and popular media forms—may serve as reminders of important goals established by early digital feminists or define new ones. Calls for reassessment already have arisen from scholars such as Mary Flanagan and Suyin Looui, who have looked for models beyond the definition of “‘classic’ cyberfeminist art” that nevertheless use new media to promote feminist aims. [2] It is the goal of this special issue to provide a forum for new thinking about new/media/feminisms: past, present, and future.
The editors encourage potential contributors to consider how feminist work in new media has changed over the past three decades, and to identify contemporary theories and practices that are reshaping perspectives in this field. How are artists rethinking or reintuiting feminism through contemporary art practices? How do these practices relate to or diverge from established feminist lineages? How have changes in new media technologies, such as the advent of mobile computing and social media, influenced feminist approaches to media?
The editors welcome creative and traditional formats of submissions that address new media feminisms, past and present.
Submissions may take the form of:
– artist’s statements and artwork
– manifestos or performance scripts
– critical discussions of exhibitions or select works
– case studies of artists, artworks, or collectives
– interviews of theorists/practitioners/critics
– historical survey essays

Beam Camp, the summer camp for the fine and manual arts, technology and collaboration, today opens its annual international search to find its 2013 Beam Projects. The large-scale collaborative projects are realized by Beam campers, aged 7-17, and staff at the camp’s 106-acre facility in Strafford, New Hampshire.
Projects are budgeted at $10,000. Winning designers receive a $2,500 honorarium and are invited to visit camp during the project’s production.
Proposals can be submitted on the Beam Camp website until Friday, January 11, 2013 with Semi-finalists announced on January 18, 2013. (submission page: http://www.beamcamp.com/project-proposal/).
Beam offers these prompts for proposals:
– Project should be big and ambitious and result in a unique and spectacular product.
– Project Master should have experience in executing the kind of idea proposed.
– Projects should take advantage of Beam’s outdoor space and rural location, but need not be about camp, children or nature.
Beam Camp Co-Director Danny Kahn says of the Project, “it’s a chance for kids to walk around inside the mind of a designer of big things and systems. The kids get to learn project-specific making skills and practice the tools of collaboration, and more importantly see how to bring to life a passionately held and expertly developed idea.”
The Beam Projects for summer 2012 reflected Beam’s core emphasis on cultivating creative thinking and applied collaborative work. In “Creature Quake,” Beam Project 2012.1, landscape architects Rachel Kunreuther and Douglas Stookey’s proposal, Beam campers and staff constructed enormous creatures in earth, sky and lake. In “Navigating Dreams,” Beam Project 2012.2, proposed by Matthew Springett Associates, Beam campers and staff created a night sky of LED constellations controlled and navigated by a boat-machine.
Previous winners include Caitlin Berrigan’s “Macro/Micro Domes,” Steve Gerberich and Nathaniel Lieb’s “Beam Fleet,” Jan Drojarski and Jon Bocksel’s “Jungletopia,” Christine Baumgartner and Manuel Kretzer’s “Float With The Flowers,” the solar-powered film “A Trip to the Sun” by Daniela Kostova and Mike DeSeve, WIgnall & Moore’s “The Stories of Machines That Never Flew” and “The Habitats of Parker Mountain” by pragmatopia and architecture students of the University of Kassel, Germany.

re:MMX is currently seeking video work for their Public Video Box. We are looking for videos that deal with dwellings, environments, metropolis, urban sprawl, private and public spaces of living and in general work that reacts to construction sites and city developments throughout the world.
MMX was 2010 and re:MMX is 2012, a remix of the old project but with an emphasis on public art. We left our location 2 years ago but have now been invited back to react to the development and construction site that was our former art space. Seeking provocative video work that even address gentrification and/or the negativity of global expansion.
The Video Box is in its second month and will continue for four more months. A new video work is shown each week for 7 days from 2pm-10pm. The Video Box is located right in the middle of Berlin on a popular commercial art street with high foot traffic.
All videos are shown with a HD-ready projector, rear projection, directional speakers and played from a high-end media player.
Videos should be in the time range of 30 seconds to approx. 20 minutes in length. We show work with sound but have to take in consideration the neighbors so volume levels are kept in a normal range.

A l’occasion de la première édition du concours Archi’Court, le CAUE 31 lance un appel à projets pour des créations vidéos autour de l’architecture.
Le concours Archi’Court a pour objectif la valorisation de la culture architecturale, de l’urbanisme et du paysage au travers du regard de jeunes créateurs vidéos.
L’appel à candidature s’adresse à des créateurs de tous bords, cinéphiles, architectes, documentaristes, vidéastes, étudiants, qu’ils soient amateurs ou proféssionnels, désireux d’exprimer l’architecture, l’urbanisme ou le paysage au travers de la vidéo. La création est libre mais doit suivre le fil conducteur d’une thématique donnée.
Nous avons choisi pour cette première édition du projet une thématique large et ouverte, qui invite à la création et où les points de fuite ouvrent une multiplicité de choix.

Please make sure to submit your work along with your entry form early enough to meet the December 15th deadline. The works that will be shown during the Biennale will be chosen by the WRO 2013 Biennale team.
The WRO 2013 program is open to various forms of creative artistic expression and communication made using electronic and/or digital media and completed after January 1st, 2011.
Works can be submitted by the artists/creators, or by producers or distributors who holds the rights to them.
There is no entry fee for the WRO 2013 Biennale, and none of the materials sent to the organizers will be returned.
The organizers will provide the artists/creators of the selected works (or their representatives) with free accommodations in Wrocław during the main WRO 2013 events, scheduled for May 8th – 11th 2013.
All entrants submitting works to the WRO 2013 Biennale agree to audio-video recordings being made of their performances, interviews, concerts, installations and/or events, and to the use of these recordings for promotional, educational and/or research purposes.

UNIDEE – University of Ideas is Cittadellarte’s international pole of formation and exchange between knowledge and diverse problematics, open to a varied and multidisciplined group of creatives, professional people and students.
Here art abandons the conventional canons and instead places itself to integrate with society and with other disciplines: communication, production, economics, politic, architecture, design, literature, music, spirituality, ecology and nourishment.
UNIDEE in Residence runs for four months – from June to October – to explore the rapport between art and society and to investigate methodologies of creative interventions able to activate projects for a socially responsible change in society.
Unidee in residence forms a new professional skill: that of “activator” of projects for a Responsible Transformation of Society, which reunites the characteristics and skills of the artist, curator, cultural enterpreneur and social-projects manager.
At Cittadellarte the residents acquire a professional creative dimension that is productive and socially relevant, capable of responsibly confronting the problematics of real society and that offers innovative proposals to companies and administrations in different contexts.
The UNIDEE programme develops in direct synergy with the activities of Cittadellarte, interacting with the exhibitions, research and projects of the Uffizi in the areas of ecological architecture (Architecture Office), sustainable design (Production Office), of economic alternatives (Economics Office), of intercultural dialogue (Politics Office and Love Difference Project), of the relation between ecology and creativity (Ecology Office and ReMida Project), of sustainable fashion (Fashion Office), of creative communication (Communication Office), of art and social change (Art Office) and of the spirituality of art (Spirituality Office). Christie Digital Systems Canada and CAFKA – Contemporary Art Forum Kitchener and Area have created an Artist in Residence programme.
Christie Digital Systems Canada (www.christiedigital.com) is a global visual technologies company that produces products for business, entertainment, and industry. With expertise in film projection since 1929 and professional projection systems since 1979, Christie has established a reputation as the world’s single source manufacturer of a variety of display technologies and solutions for cinema, large audience environments, control rooms, business presentations, training facilities, 3D and virtual reality, simulation, education, media and government. As a market leader, Christie has installed over 100,000 projection solutions worldwide. Christie’s broad range of technologies include DLP Cinema™ projectors, LCD and DLP™ projectors, rear screen projection modules, video walls, and cutting edge projection technologies for 3D, virtual reality and simulation.
In 2009, Christie launched the MicroTiles digital display system based on DLP technology with PhlatLight LED illumination. MicroTiles are modular 12h x 16w x 10d-inch rear projection units which can be stacked to form any shape or size.
The CHRISTIE/CAFKA Artist in Residence programme has the following goals:
a) the advancement of research and practice into the creative use of digital media technologies;
b) the use of visualisation and interactive technologies in the visual arts; and
c) the creation of digital media with intelligent projections that may include 3D animations.
Artists selected to participate in the programme will be exposed to a body of technical knowledge enabling them to explore forms, methods of display, and concepts not possible in their own studios as well as new ways of thinking and working in a unique collaborative environment. Christie will provide funding, facilities and technical mentoring to make its visualisation technologies accessible to resident artists.
1. Duration of Programme and Residency
The Artist in Residence programme will have a term of two years. It will operate on an annual basis, hosting one artist position for a full year, or the equivalent in short term residencies. Each resident artist will have the opportunity to work from two to twelve months, depending on the size of the project, creating a work of art using Christie’s projection systems.
2. Facilities and Artist Benefits
Each artist will be provided with studio space at Christie’s facilities at the Communitech HUB in downtown Kitchener, Ontario. The space is accessible to the resident artist 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. In addition, each resident artist will have access to the following:
a) technical assistance from Christie in developing artwork for use on Christie’s projection systems;
b) reimbursement of housing expenses for rent of up to $1,000 per month (the artist may bring family members but the artist will be required to cover any additional costs);
c) a stipend of $1,200 per month to cover food and personal expenses of the artist;
d) reimbursement of travel costs of up to $1,000 for the artist to travel from the artist’s residence to Kitchener, Ontario (the artist may bring family members but the artist will be required to cover any additional costs);
e) a workstation/studio at Christie’s facility at 809 Wellington Street North, Kitchener, Ontario
f) access to software
g) use of a bicycle supplied by Cycle CAFKA;
An important consideration in the selection of artists will be the extent that an applicant will take advantage of the resources and technical support provided by Christie.
Artists will be selected for a residency based on:
a) the quality of past work;
b) the potential impact of the residency on the artist and their work;
c) the ability of the artist to master new technologies; and
d) a demonstrated commitment to working at Christie’s Kitchener facilities with their team and resources.
3. Educational Programming / Outreach
The Christie/CAFKA residency is intended to benefit the cultural life of the City of Kitchener and the Region of Waterloo. As part of the Artist in Residence programme, resident artists will be expected to undertake a selection of the following, to be agreed upon between CAFKA and the artist:
a) public lecture;
b) public workshop;
c) video interviews to be broadcast on CAFKA TV and posted on the CAFKA web site;
d) blog or vlog, to be posted to the CAFKA website; and
e) public exhibition of completed artwork.
4. Application Process
Applications to the Artist in Residence Programme must include:
a) a cover page including: name, address, city, postal/zip code, country, telephone, email, website, and a maximum one page project proposal;
b) a concise portfolio of previous work;

How to apply
The Henry Moore Institute invites applications for the following fellowship programmes:
Research Fellowships are intended for artists, scholars and curators, working on historic and contemporary sculpture using the Institute’s library, archive of sculptors’ papers and the collection of Leeds Art Gallery. Up to 4 fellows will be given the opportunity to spend a month in Leeds to develop their own research. With access to our resources and an on-going dialogue with the Institute staff, fellows are free to pursue their own interests in a supportive and stimulating environment.
Senior Fellowships are intended to give established scholars (working on any aspect of sculpture) time and space to develop a research project free from their usual work commitments. Up to 2 senior fellowships, for periods of between 4 to 6 weeks will be offered.
Both fellowships provide accommodation, travel expenses and a per diem. The Institute offers the possibility of presenting finished research in published form, as a seminar, or as a small exhibition. The fellowships are an integral part of the research programme, presenting fresh perspectives on the Institute’s collections, opening up new collaborative possibilities and furthering research into sculpture.

Est-Nord-Est est un centre d’artistes autogéré dont le mandat principal est d’offrir aux artistes en processus de recherche un soutien à la production par le biais de résidences. Trois périodes de résidence sont offertes: au printemps, à l’été et à l’automne. Chacune de ces périodes permet de réunir jusqu’à quatre artistes à la fois, ainsi qu’un(e) commissaire ou un(e) auteur(e) en art actuel. D’une durée de huit semaines, les séjours des artistes offrent l’occasion de s’extraire du quotidien afin de travailler dans un espace culturel différent, vivant et stimulant. La disponibilité des ressources locales, l’accueil convivial et chaleureux, la qualité du soutien technique et logistique et la richesse des échanges entre artistes d’origines diverses caractérisent les résidences.
Est-Nord-Est est situé à Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, un village sur la rive sud du fleuve Saint-Laurent, dont les paysages sont caractérisés par la forte présence de l’agriculture, de la forêt et des voies fluviales. Saint-Jean-Port-Joli est situé à 115 km de Québec et à 350 km de Montréal.

Les artistes bénéficient de droits de résidence de 1122$ pour une période de huit semaines et d’un hébergement pour la durée de leur séjour. Ils ont aussi accès à un atelier individuel, à une menuiserie, à un soutien technique et logistique, aux outils variés, principalement pour le travail du bois, mais aussi pour le métal et la pierre, à certains équipements informatiques… et à un vélo. La maison collective où logent les artistes est la même que celle du commissaire ou de l’auteur(e) en résidence et est voisine des ateliers d’Est-Nord-Est. Elle comprend cinq chambres, une cuisine, un salon, deux salles de bain communes et une salle de lavage.

Présentation
Est-Nord-Est est un centre d’artistes autogéré qui offre, à travers son programme de résidence, un soutien technique à la production et un contexte critique pour les artistes engagés dans une démarche de recherche/création. Fondé à l’origine sur la rencontre entre les pratiques contemporaines de la sculpture et celles relevant d’un savoir-faire traditionnel, Est-Nord-Est accueille aujourd’hui des artistes de toutes les disciplines et pratiques des arts visuels actuels. Afin d’encourager la pratique de l’écrit sur l’art et du commissariat en art actuel au Canada, Est-Nord-Est a inauguré en 2012 une résidence de commissaire et d’auteur(e) canadien(ne) en art actuel. Convaincu de l’importance de la mixité entre les œuvres et les mots, Est-Nord-Est vise par cette initiative à promouvoir la recherche et à stimuler des rapports étroits et féconds entre les artistes en résidence et les professionnels qui œuvrent dans la sphère de la médiation de l’art. Les espaces de travail et d’échange étant communs avec les artistes, les commissaires et auteur(e)s pourront s’imprégner au plus près de « l’art en train de se faire ». La résidence permet ainsi aux commissaires et auteur(e)s de profiter d’un environnement de travail hors du quotidien, vivant et stimulant, propice au développement de leurs propres recherches. Aussi, ils/elles sont encouragé(e)s à développer une réflexion critique sur le travail des artistes et leur processus créatif en résidence.

Call to Artists: Acadia National Park Artist Residency, Maine

The Acadia National Park Artist-In-Residence Program provides professionals the opportunity to become part of a long-established tradition of artists in our national parks.
Mount Desert Island Artists: A Long Tradition
In the mid-1800s, landscape painters, including Thomas Cole and Frederic Church, came to Mount Desert Island and captured its beauty on canvas. Their work inspired writers, composers, naturalists, and folks from away to seek the natural splendor of the island.
Those who followed were known as rusticators because they ate and lived with local fishermen and farmers during their summer stay. The rusticators returned each summer to delight in the tranquillity of Mount Desert Island, and for some, to practice their craft. Villagers cottages and fishermen’s huts soon overflowed, and by 1880, 30 hotels competed for vacationers’ dollars. Ballet, opera, musical festivals, and readings flourished each summer on Mount Desert Island.
Over the years the accommodations and number of visitors have increased, but the heart of what first drew people here remains as Acadia National Park. The park, with its dramatic cliffs stretching to the sea, balsam-scented forests, and spring warbler serenades, offers artists a perfect setting to practice and pursue their craft.
Artist-In-Residence Program at Acadia
The Artist-in-Residence Program at Acadia National Park offers professional writers, composers, and all visual and performing artists the opportunity to pursue their particular art form while surrounded by the inspiring landscape of the park. In the spring and fall, the park provides housing to participants for two-week to four-week periods. No additional stipend is available.
In return, participating artists are asked to donate to the park collection a piece of work representative of their style and their stay. These creative works will be displayed on a rotating schedule or shared with the public through other appropriate means during the upcoming seasons. Artists are also asked to participate in one public program per week of their residency such as demonstrations, talks, exploratory hikes, or performances. In the fall, artists will be working with fifth and sixth grade students. Programs can be tailored to your medium, interests, and experiences, and only consume a few hours of your stay.
How to Apply
Applications for the program are accepted beginning October 1 and must be received by January 7 for consideration for the following season. Notification will be made by late March. There is a $25 non-refundable application fee for applying to the residency. Make checks payable to the National Park Service. Materials sent as part of the application packet will not be returned.
Any medium that involves collecting or altering park resources would be in conflict with national park preservation goals and would be deemed inappropriate for a residency.

Selection Process
A panel composed of professionals from various related disciplines and a park representative will choose the finalists for the upcoming season. Selections are made solely on the basis of submitted material.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many artists are selected each year? Between four and six artists, plus two alternates, are selected each year.
Do I need to have a car? Yes. There is no public transportation to the park or towns during the residency period.
What are the housing arrangements? Artists are housed in a fully furnished, one-bedroom apartment with a full kitchen outfitted with pots, pans, dishes, and silverware. The park supplies linens and bedding. There is a laundry facility in the apartment complex. Occupants supply personal items such as clocks and audiovisual equipment. Occupants are responsible for cleaning the apartment prior to their departure. Pets and smoking are not allowed. Wheelchair-accessible housing is available.
Can I bring my family or pet? Family members may join the artist for the residency as long as the number of occupants does not exceed the occupancy limits of the apartment. Pets are not permitted.

Atelier Topaz – résidence
Opasatika, Ontario, Canada
Le lieu
Situés au cœur de la forêt boréale, les Ateliers Topaz sont à la fois un lieu de retraite et un centre de création pour artistes, toutes disciplines confondues. L’endroit parfait pour la réflexion, l’évasion. Le groupement d’édifices fait 900 mètres carrés et repose sur 14 hectares face à la route Transcanadienne. Il donne sur un étang de deux hectares. Topaz c’est la « Route 66 » dans le nord de l’Ontario. L’endroit, modeste et nostalgique, rappelle aussi les grandes épopées de la colonisation francophone de l’Ontario. Ces studios de création ou cette résidence d’artistes, endroit idéal pour les arts visuels, sont situés au centre du Canada, à mi-chemin entre l’Atlantique et le Pacifique, là où les étoiles deviennent les topazes de la nuit.
Ce qu’on offre
D’abord l’espace et, l’espace de travail déterminés selon les besoins de l’artiste. Les espaces polyvalents permettent d’y faire de la peinture, de la sculpture, de l’installation, etc. L’atelier de menuiserie, le Bar à clou, est équipé des outils de base. Un magasin d’objets trouvés est disponible autant pour l’inspiration que pour l’utilisation dans une œuvre. Le peintre apporte ses pinceaux, le musicien son instrument et l’écrivain son ordi.
Les personnes qui séjournent aux Ateliers Topaz jouissent de l’accès à la cuisine et sont responsables de préparer leurs repas. Toutefois Laurent peut aussi leur cuisiner de petits plats typiquement canadiens-français aux besoins ou aux désirs.
Topaz possède deux suites avec lit double et une chambre avec lit simple. Chacune possède sa salle de toilette avec douche. Ces installations évoquent admirablement le style des années 1960.
Pour la baignade, le Lac des Cœurs se situe à deux kilomètres à l’est. Pour le canotage ou la pèche, la rivière Opasatika est deux kilomètres à l’ouest. Pour se déplacer, il y a de vieux vélos ou la marche. Pour un frais très raisonnable, votre hôte peut aussi vous conduire ou organiser un déplacement vers Kapuskasing à l’est ou vers Hearst à l’ouest.
Les matériaux d’artistes ne sont pas disponibles dans la région. Il est donc important de faire vos achats avant votre séjour, à moins que vous travailliez avec des matériaux que l’on peut se procurer dans des magasins ordinaires ou même en nature.

The Helen M. Salzberg Artist in Residence Program funds two working residencies for artists each academic year at the Jaffe Center for Book Arts, in the fall and spring semesters. Artists working in the book arts (and other media, too, as long as the creative project can be thought of as book arts related) are encouraged to apply for this prestigious and competitive award. We accept applications from artists from all over the world.
Poet and artist Helen M. Salzberg established the Salzberg AIR Program in 2011. Income from this endowed fund enables artists working in the book arts to come to the Jaffe Center on a semester basis to work and teach at the center. While here, the artist will produce a creative project using JCBA studios and also teach a workshop for FAU students and the general public and mentor FAU students as his or her schedule allows. The Salzberg AIR Program gives our students the opportunity to work alongside highly talented and creative book artists.
Two residencies will be awarded each academic year: one in the fall semester and one in the spring semester. The Artist in Residence (AIR) selected each semester will get his or her own office at JCBA and full use of the JCBA studios (papermaking, letterpress and book studios). The artist’s residency will last for 12 weeks, though shorter or longer residencies may be accommodated as needed. In the application process, if an artist has a particularly ambitious creative project in mind, the artist may apply for a residency that would encompass two semesters. Should the two-semester residency be awarded in this case, the artist would be expected to teach one workshop in each semester.
The AIR receives a stipend of $5,000 for the semester. The artist is responsible for transportation, housing, parking, meals and materials for his or her creative project. JCBA will provide materials for workshops.
APPLICATION
Artists who wish to compete for consideration for this prestigious opportunity must submit their application and support materials for review by a JCBA panel comprised of book artists and book arts enthusiasts. Your application packet must be submitted via post or delivered in person to JCBA and should include the following:
1. Completed application, or suitable cover letter that supplies the same information requested on the application.
2. Brief narrative of the creative project you envision.
3. Brief narrative of the workshop you would like to teach.
4. Current resume.
5. Any support materials you care to include: we welcome images of your work, sketches for the creative project, video… be creative and have fun.
All applications will be weighed equally by our panel.

Brucebo Scholarships for Canadian Artists, Gotland, Sweden (Deadline: Jan.31st, 2013)

To commemorate the very special Swedish-Canadian link of Caroline and William’s marriage and artistic life, two Fine Art Scholarships for Canadians were established: the Brucebo Fine Art Summer Scholarship and the William Blair Bruce European Fine Art Travel Scholarship.
The Brucebo Summer Residency Scholarship provides funding for a three-month’s work stay at the Brucebo studio cottage, at Sjalso fishing village, 7 km. North of the Hanseatic and medieval City of Visby. The scholarship covers transport expenses, Canada-Visby/Gotland (return), free use of the studio cottage, plus a food stipend. The William Blair Bruce Travel Scholarship finances a systematic Fine Art European reserach/travel grant, to be undertaken either during the fall or winter. RESÒ
International Art Residency Program
New open call December 2012
From the beginning of December, the international platform RESÒ residency program is pleased to announce the new open call for its third edition. The six mid-term residencies will run in 2013 in Piedmont (Italy) and San Paulo (Brazil), New Delhi (India) and Cairo (Egypt). Born in 2010 from a collaboration between the leading Piedmontes institutions for contemporary art and education, the platform RESÒ is supported and promoted by the Foundation for Modern and Contemporary Art CRT. RESÒ is spelled phonetically from the French word reseau, meaning network, and it is used in order to focus on the territory’s resources, cultural as well as social and artistic: a network of support for creative production in and with the region of Piedmont. In fact, RESÒ grows from a collaboration that, for the first time, brings together many of the major contemporary art institutions in Piedmont, then adds the support and participation of foreign institutions Capacete, Khoj and Townhouse Gallery.
With the participation of these many institutions, RESÒ calls for the creation of IN and OUT, an ongoing program of international residencies to promote the overall mobility of artists. The goal is to establish places for theoretical reflection and creative growth through which the presence of the artist will also become a stimulus for the surrounding community. Any region that hosts international residencies will reap cultural and social benefits. RESÒ_1 (2010–2011) saw the start of the six residencies that form the IN and OUT programs. The IN program, clearly focused on activities within the Piedmont region, begins with residencies developed specifically by Unidee Cittadellarte (Magdi Mostafa from Cairo), Spinola Banna Foundation for Art (the Egyptian Amsterdam-based Dina Danish) and the PAV-Parco Arte Vivente (Amilcar Packer from Brazil). The OUT program, on the other hand, focuses on the three residencies developed separately by Townhouse Gallery (in Cairo with Alessandro Quaranta) and Capacete (in Rio de Janeiro with Irene Pittatore and Francesca Macrì; in San Paulo with Paola Anzichè). RESÒ_2 (2011–2012) involves six international artists in residency at Unidee Cittadellarte (Sunil Vallu from New Delhi), CeSAC (Jasmina Metwaly from Cairo), Eco e Narciso (Beto Shwafaty from Rio de Janeiro), Khoj International Artists Association (Ottavia Castellina from Turin and London), Townhouse Gallery (the Italian Rotterdam-based Eva Frapiccini), and Capacete (the young but well-known couple Massimiliano and Gianluca De Serio).
Each artist is selected by a committee representing the institutions involved. During the six/nine weeks-long residency, the artists take part in meetings, panels, workshops and studio visits. Finally, the RESÒ resident artists are encouraged to produce artworks that reflect on the current definitions of learning, of knowledge and of community and practice, giving back his/her personal sight on the territory and the residency experience. All the outcomes are collected, year by year, in the RESÒ traveling box, a suitcase inspired by Duchamp’s Boîte-en-valise, a sort of archive of memories and traces that, with the instruction booklet, becomes an itinerant “do it yourself” exhibition (shown at Artissima_18 and 19 International Fair).
