La salle Alfred-Pellan (SAP) est une institution muséale de diffusion en art contemporain et actuel qui se présente comme un espace de dialogues multiples, d’abord entre les artistes, les commissaires et notre équipe par le biais d’un accompagnement muséologique, puis entre les expositions et les visiteurs grâce à son programme de médiation artistique. Sa mission lui permet de présenter des projets d’envergure nationale tout en offrant aux publics des outils et des activités pour mieux s’approprier les œuvres présentées.

Les artistes (SAP et Foyer) et les commissaires (SAP) professionnels sont invités à présenter un projet inédit d’exposition individuelle ou collective en art actuel ou contemporain.

Exposition thématique
La SAP invite les commissaires à soumettre un projet d’exposition collective et thématique pour la plage d’hiver 2022-2023. Cette exposition en art actuel ou contemporain comprend un important volet éducatif. Dépôt des dossiers

Culture Trois-Rivières invite les artistes professionnels et de la relève, les collectifs d’artistes et les commissaires en art actuel à soumettre un projet d’exposition en vue de la programmation 2021-2022.  Avec deux centres d’exposition, un volet en art public et différentes actions sur le territoire, CULTURE TROIS-RIVIÈRES travaille activement à susciter l’intérêt pour l’art visuel et à le développer pour qu’il soit dans le quotidien des gens. The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery is currently accepting submissions from Canadian artists from all backgrounds and career levels working in clay and glass for an exhibition on the theme of Diversity and Inclusion to be presented in Fall 2021.
We are pleased to announce an open call for submissions from Canadian clay and glass artists for a group exhibition with the theme “Diversity and Inclusion.” The exhibition will coincide with the 2021 Creative City Network Summit to be hosted by the City of Waterloo. We welcome submissions from artists who broadly identify with the theme of Diversity and Inclusion in their artistic practices and experiences including, but not limited to, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion, and mental or physical abilities. Multi-media works and those that incorporate new media within the use of clay, glass, and copper enamelling will be considered.

The selected works will be presented in the exhibition from September 2021 to January 2022. The Gallery will provide an artist fee (as set out by CARFAC) to the selected artists and cover the costs of shipping and insurance for the duration of the exhibition.

Located in Waterloo, Ontario, the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery is Canada’s only gallery dedicated to the exhibition and collecting of contemporary Canadian clay, glass, and copper enamelling. Through exhibition programs, publications, a clay studio, and an archival centre, the Gallery supports research and creation by emerging, mid-career, and established artists. The Gallery is accessible, with the exception of exhibitions and events held in the John A. Pollock Family Courtyard, which is not fully accessible to visitors with particular mobility aids at this time.

We acknowledge that we live and work on the traditional territory of the Attawandaron, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples. The Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land promised to the Six Nations that includes ten kilometers on each side of the Grand River.

Submit to Eyelevel’s Major Projects – 1er décembre (nouvelle date)

Eyelevel supports 1-2 “Major Projects” every year, which are off-site, itinerant and/or time-based projects by emerging and mid-career artists. Eyelevel supports the mounting of our major projects through successful project grant applications, and endeavors to cover materials, travel and production costs in addition to paying CARFAC project and presentation artist fees. Major projects are often paired with an artist talk or small publication and can take the form of exhibitions, research residencies, and/or performances.

Eyelevel does not operate a formal gallery space, applications for Major Projects should consider our model of programming from an artistic and logistical standpoint. Eyelevel will work with selected artists to secure appropriate venues for their project, and programs 1-2 years in advance, with all major projects occurring between June and November.

AKA supports the creation and development of artist driven initiatives and emerging practices that speak to, reflect and encourage dialogue in our culturally diverse communities. This includes work in all media by local, national and international artists. Our venues consist of a street-level gallery, billboard and multi-use screening and performance event space; we also source off-site locations for site-specific projects.

AKA accepts submissions on an ongoing basis for project/exhibition proposals that consider AKA’s history and setting.

Southern Alberta Art Gallery (SAAG) Submission Guidelines
Exhibition proposals are accepted throughout the year and reviews are ongoing.  Selection is carried out over a period of time through studio visits and correspondence with artists and curators in whom the gallery has an interest.  Those interested in proposing their work to SAAG are asked to include with their submission: a curriculum vitae, an artist statement and/or letter of intent, a wide selection of images, and other relevant support material. Towner International is a major new biennial exhibition of contemporary art that will take place in 2020, featuring British and International artists at Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne, UK. Artists can submit works for consideration to Towner International through an online Open Call process. An esteemed panel of guest judges including Polly Staple (Director, Chisenhale Gallery) and Noelle Collins, (Curator, Towner Art Gallery) will select artists for the inaugural Towner International exhibition. The Brewers Prize of GBP 10,000 will be awarded to an overall winner chosen from the exhibiting artists.

The institution welcomes submissions from professional artists working in all media, including but not restricted to painting, drawing, print, sculpture, sound, performance, photography, film and installation.

Submissions can be made by artists working across the UK and internationally, at least one third of exhibiting artists will be selected from Towner’s coastal region – being born or based in Sussex, Kent and Hampshire.

While this is primarily an opportunity to present work within Towner’s gallery spaces, site specific and off-site installations in the Eastbourne area will also be considered. All works submitted must be available for exhibition from June 13 to September 6, 2020.

Towner’s location on England’s South Coast has been at the core of the gallery’s identity for almost a century and Towner welcomes submissions from artists with a connection to this unique coastal region. For almost 100 years, landscape and location have shaped key concerns within Towner’s programme and defined the gallery’s Collection. As Towner launches this open call, the United Kingdom is undergoing the monumental and arduous transition of leaving the European Union. Considerations of place, identity, landscape and environment have become increasingly significant as we anticipate the consequences of this action, and now more than ever it is important to open opportunities for an international conversation. The European Media Art Platform will offer EMARE (European Media Artist in Residence Exchange) residencies for artists working in the fields of digital media—in internet and computer-based arts, in sound or video art, in media-based performance, as well as in robotics or bio-art. The upcoming call covers residency stays in 2020 and in 2021 at 11 renowned European media art organisations.

European artists can apply with a project proposal for a residency at one of the following institutions:

Al Ma’mal Foundation for Contemporary Art invites artists, creatives, curators, researchers and scholars to patriciate in its residency program in the Old City of Jerusalem. Residents will get the opportunity to develop a new work or work on an existing project, while delving into the culture and socio-political environment of Jerusalem. Through this residency program, Al Ma’mal aims to promote Jerusalem’s cultural and artistic scene, and build bridges for learning and understanding between the city and the world. Therefore, even though the residency is non-thematic, the artists-in-residence are encouraged to work directly with the community and are invited to take part in Al Ma’mal’s public program.

Our residents are hosted in our historic building in the Old City of Jerusalem, and they will be offered a per diem, and a contribution towards travel and production costs. They will also get the opportunity to collaborate with Al Ma’mal on exhibitions, publications, lectures & workshops.

The resident is expected to dedicate the allocated residency period to work on the proposed project, to meet on a weekly basis with Al Ma’mal team for follow up and feedback, and to cooperate with Al Ma’mal in hosting 1-2 public events related to the residency.

CALL TO ARTISTS

Artspace is looking for experimental and socially engaged proposals from individual artists, curators, and collectives to create site-specific work for a space, or multiple spaces, inside King George Public School located in Peterborough, Ontario. Proposals for work utilizing the exterior of the building and the grounds are also welcome.

Artspace is dedicated to presenting work from contemporary artists working in a variety of disciplines and strives to present art that reflects and promotes diverse cultural and political perspectives. Submissions from emerging, mid-career, and senior artists are welcome. We encourage applicants to confront some of the issues raised by the site, which include accessibility, colonialism, and public education. This is an opportunity to open relevant, necessary dialogues and point to ways forward together through engagement with histories of exclusion and oppression. Submissions of new and existing work are welcome, but successful proposals will be site responsive.

Eligibility

Proposals are being accepted from professional artists, curators, and collectives.

Proposals must be for new or existing work that responds to the site in some way. Please describe how your proposed project is particularly relevant to the site, how it is suited to the space(s) the site offers, or how it connects to the site and its surroundings.

Evaluation Criteria

Submissions will be assessed according to the following criteria: artistic merit and innovation; ability to see the project to completion; application clarity and completeness; and responsiveness to site.

Submission Criteria

A detailed Project Description (max. 500 words) that describes the proposed work and outlines how the work will engage audiences and/or encourage public interaction. Describe how the proposed work either contributes to your artistic practice or relates to other work you, or your team of collaborators, are currently engaged in. If possible, include an indication of the room or space(s) you prefer to use. Floor plans of the school are attached.
Technical Requirements: Please outline any lighting, sound, projection, or installation requirements.
Artist Bio (max. 250 words/artist): Describe your artistic practice and history of presenting artistic work. If there is more than one principal collaborator, please provide bios for each.
Artist(s) CV (max. 2 pages/artist).
Support Material: up to ten images of recent work and maximum 3 audio/video files. Video documentation should be uploaded to a site such as Youtube or Vimeo and linked in the application. Regardless of duration, please include full videos. Due to time constraints, the selections committee may only view up to 5 minutes of each video. Please note the clip you would prefer the jury view by including time marks in the documentation list.

Additional Information

King George Public School was built in 1913 on Armour Hill in Peterborough’s Ashburnham (East City) neighborhood, and served grades JK – 6 up to the end of the 2018-2019 school year. A brand new school is being built on the site, due to open in fall 2020. Artspace and its collaborators (Public Energy Performing Arts and The Art Gallery of Peterborough) have received permission from the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board to use the school as the site for a multidisciplinary art event planned for May 2021.

The 3-storey school has more than 50 rooms spread out over three floors, including classrooms, corridors, coat rooms, offices, library, and a gymnasium. There are no elevators in the building, so the gymnasium at ground level and the school’s exterior grounds are currently the only accessible spaces.

Ledingham McAllister Communities Ltd. is seeking an artist or team of artists to create a focal public art piece/pieces for their new West-Coast contemporary designed residences, Cedar Creek, in South Burnaby in close proximity to their dynamic new 50 acre Master Plan community Southgate City. The artist call for this project has two phases. Phase I is a Request for Expressions of Interest and Qualifications (RFQ), which will be used to shortlist up to 3 artists. Phase II is the Concept Proposal and Development stage. In Phase II, shortlisted artists will receive $2000. for their preliminary design proposals. The Public Art Selection Panel will determine the final artist after reviewing the proposals.

The goal of this project is to create a unique, West-Coast inspired, rugged and majestic installation to contribute to the City of Burnaby’s public art collection and compliment the Cedar Creek residences.

Budget

The Cedar Creek Homes LP focal art piece/pieces budget is $400,000 for all costs associated with the focal art piece; including but not limited to: artists’ fees, travel, materials, permits as needed, insurance, fabrication, installation, and documentation and all taxes. Please plan the artwork design within the budget of art piece fabrication and installation of $400,000 all inclusive.

Phase I. Selection Process & Submission Criteria

The selection process will include an initial review of proposals by the Cedar Creek Public Art Selection Panel. The panel will consist of a representative from Ledingham McAllister Communities Ltd, a public art consultant from Pivotal Urban Art, a member of the Burnaby Arts Council and representative from the City of Burnaby. Pivotal Urban Art will present submitted artist qualifications to the panel. The Panel will review and decide on a shortlist of up to 3 artists to proceed with Phase II based on the quality of submissions including the following criteria:

Artists’ qualifications related to large scale public art projects
Letter of Interest detailing the artists involved and preliminary project ideas aligning with their expertise
References from previous public art project experience or clients
Previous experience in managing a public art process from design development through to installation
Demonstrated capability of working in public & private development contexts
Phase II. Selection Process & Submission Requirements

Artists shortlisted to complete Phase II will receive compensation of $2,000 for their submissions and concept proposals. Phase II artists are required to submit a concept proposal meeting the following submission criteria and provide a 10-15 min presentation to the Art Selection Panel:

Letter of Intent for the art piece/pieces (no longer than 2 pages)
Concept Proposal with accompanying maquette and or detailed project renderings
List of the necessary materials for artwork fabrication and installation, including potential subcontractors
Detailed project budget
Timeline for artwork creation and installation within the framework of the building development timeline
Once an artist is selected, both the artist and Cedar Creek Homes LP. will be asked to provide written confirmation that they accept the selection. Following this the artist will be required to submit a detailed design for final review by the Art Selection Panel.

Since Momentum was founded in 1998, it has established itself as one of the most important biennials for contemporary art in the Nordic region. It has contributed to strengthen the Nordic art field and further to demonstrate that Moss is a city of art. Momentum 11 enters into a new format when it leaves behind Momentum kunsthall and encounter with the distinctive landscape of Jeløya as the main venue together with Galleri F 15. The arenas form a space for exploring thematic inputs and concerns dealing with our time. Additional venues in Moss town will be included. The time frame of Momentum 11 is divided into three parts opening in March, June and September.

Momentum is seeking a curatorial team of two to three curators for Momentum 11.

Work period: From March 2020 until October 2021 with the possibility of a project follow-up if this is agreed on.

Ambitions for Momentum:
–Explore and strengthen contemporary art in a Nordic context
–Be a discursive platform for artistic, intellectual and critical reflection on our contemporary time
–Challenge and strengthen the contemporary discourse of the biennial format
–Create attention, awareness and active participation from the Nordic and international art world, thus strengthen Moss´ position as a city of art
–Create interest and involvement by the local, as well as broad Norwegian, Nordic and international collaborative partners and milieus.

Responsibilities of the curators:
–Professional responsibility for the conceptual framework, as well as the artworks and art projects decided on, and agreed upon, with the director and program board of Galleri F 15
–Lead the realization of the biennial in cooperation with the project manager
–Collaborate with the education department in the development of a public art mediation programme.
–Editor of Mometnum 11 publication
–The curators report to the project manager in terms of budget, funding and administration
–The curators report to the prodject manager on project progress and status, working accordingly to the project plan and its goals

Qualifications:
–High artistic competence and documented curatorial experience from larger art projects, including art in nature/public space
–Extensive knowledge of the Nordic art scene

2020 Middlebrook Prize for Young Canadian Curators – Call for Submissions
Founded in 2012, the Middlebrook Prize for Young Canadian Curators is awarded annually to an emerging Canadian curator under 30 with the aim to foster social innovation and curatorial excellence in Canada. Hosted and administered by the Art Gallery of Guelph, the winner is selected by a jury of arts leaders and receives a $5,000 honorarium as well as mentorship in the development of an exhibition at the Art Gallery of Guelph.

Submissions will be accepted until Friday, January 17, 2020, at 5 pm. The winner will be announced on March 5, 2020 and the exhibition will be presented from September 17 to December 13, 2020 at the Art Gallery of Guelph. By supporting and mobilizing Canadian creative talent, the Middlebrook Prize aims to inspire positive social change through creativity in an era of ongoing and unprecedented economic, environmental, social and cultural upheaval. Proposals should emphasize contemporary Canadian art with attention to audience, community and public.

Applications must include:

Letter of introduction: applicants should articulate their curatorial values and philosophy and what the Middlebrook Prize means to them as a career-building opportunity

VECTOR FESTIVAL 2020: AFTER GAMIFICATION

Vector Festival is an annual media arts event dedicated to showcasing experimental art works that engage critically with digital technologies.

The festival is proudly participatory and community-oriented. Hosted by InterAccess and co-curated by Katie Micak and Martin Zeilinger, Vector Festival takes place at arts venues and in public spaces across the City of Toronto.

Since its inception, Vector Festival has been innovative in its inclusion of game-based digital art alongside other new media disciplines. Continuing this focus for the 2020 edition, the festival’s curators pose a deceptively simple question: what comes after gamification?

Now that game culture and game technologies have become so pervasive in popular culture, how do experimental media artists respond critically to the rampant gamifying of everyday life? From online social interaction to digital finance, from education to military conflict, from politics and environmental issues to the ways in which humans (and machines) express themselves creatively, what comes after gamification?

The Festival will take place between July 16-19, 2020, with the flagship exhibition extended until August 22, 2020.

Please note that Vector Festival does not charge submission fees to artists applying to participate.

All artists and curators selected for participation will receive fees in accordance with the up-to-date CARFAC Fee schedule, as well as support to apply for external funding.

Review Series Call for Papers
CMA Journal // SFU School for Contemporary Arts

The Comparative Media Arts Journal is pleased to invite individuals to submit to an ongoing
call for re-views. Supplementary to CMAs semi-annual themed issues, the review series is a
continuous academic platform that asks scholars, artists, curators, writers, and post-
secondary students of all levels to engage in critical contemplation and reviews of
exhibitions, art events, and
publications.

Reviewed monthly by the managing editors of the CMA board, the submissions must
demonstrate a clear, conceptual, and insightful understanding of their source material. In
addition, all reviewers should author a critical and comparative position of the exhibition,
event, or book that they are reviewing. Exhibitions reviews should carefully consider the
character, practice, and concept of exhibited artists

as well as artworks while also critiquing the curatorial methodologies behind the exhibition.
Do the curatorial intentions as outlined by texts and the structure of the exhibition support
the artistic content? Does

the artistic content support the exhibition/institutions intentions? Is the relationship between
the artworks and curation dynamic and innovative? In what ways are the exhibitions
successful at harbouring conversations, considerations, and possibilities for the future? In
what ways is the exhibition lacking at making an affective and effective experience
for
diverse audiences? Reviews of art events ” which can include exhibition programming
such as artist talks, curatorial tours, workshops, and so on” should summarize the scope of
the event and its intentions while also

analyzing its success as a tool for public engagement and learning. In what ways did the
event succeed in engaging a deeper understanding of a practice, institution, or stream of
thought? As a participant and active member of the audience, how could the event have
been improved to engage a deep and contemplative understanding of its material? In what
ways did the curator or artist administering a talk, tour, or workshop engage an
understanding of their curatorial or artistic process? As a knowledgeable reviewer, what is
your critical opinion of their positions, ideas, and methods?

Similarly, book or article reviews require a developed summary and analysis of the authors
positions and arguments. Who does the publication serve? What kind of researcher would
benefit from engaging

with it? Additionally, publication reviewers should demonstrate a comparative analysis
between the content of the reviewed subject and their own developed research interests.
Using their own knowledge of particular subjects, what sorts of ideas regarded in the publication can be expanded on or are innovative approaches to considering particular concepts?

The content of reviews are not limited to these suggestions. Other formats of creative
practice can be analyzed such as films, concerts, theatre and so on. However, it is
imperative that all reviews demonstrate a position of critique and an understanding of
contemporary curating, artistic practice, or arts programming.

As a platform the review series works to bring awareness to the diverse and creative
happenings in Canadian and international art communities. The review series also provides
an opportunity for individuals to develop and articulate critical points of view in relation to
diverse art practices as an open-access platform for publication.

Accepted reviews can range from 500-1500 words in length. All submissions should follow
the Chicago Manual of Style and utilize in-text citations.

Reviews will be accepted and considered on the last day of each month and published
shortly there after. The next deadline for submissions will be November 30th 2019. Any
review submitted after the deadline will be considered for publication the following month.

Please submit all formatted and properly edited reviews to Mallory Gemmel at

Should your review be accepted for publication the journal will reach out to provide a writers
contract and CMA formatting guidelines. We thank you for your interest and encourage all to

La mission du Centre

CIRCA art actuel est un centre d’artistes autogéré qui soutient l’expérimentation et l’innovation. Sa mission consiste à diffuser les œuvres d’artistes en art actuel, toutes générations confondues, qui placent l’objet sculptural au cœur de leur démarche. Le Centre soutient les projets qui s’inscrivent autant dans l’esprit d’une pratique traditionnelle de la sculpture que ceux qui développent des formes sculpturales et installatives hybrides, naissant du contact avec d’autres médiums (dessin, imprimé, photographie, numérique ou peinture). Le tout témoigne d’une volonté affirmée de participer au soutien et au développement des pratiques sculpturales et installatives, dans un esprit d’ouverture et de renouvellement.

Les critères de représentativité extraits de la politique de programmation

Les expositions du CIRCA art actuel sont sélectionnées par le comité de programmation formé de membres actifs, de membres du conseil d’administration, de la directrice et d’un membre invité. La programmation vise à représenter une variété de générations, de provenances et un nombre équitable d’artistes hommes et femmes. Nous accordons une grande valeur à la diversité culturelle et à l’autochtonie et nous encourageons les artistes et commissaires membres de ces communautés à soumettre un dossier.

Les critères de sélection des dossiers sont les suivants :

– la pertinence du projet en regard des pratiques sculpturales et installatives hybrides;

– la singularité de la proposition artistique par rapport aux autres pratiques en art actuel;

– la variété des projets sélectionnés en fonction du type de pratiques.

Les cachets

Chaque artiste reçoit un cachet de 2036 $ pour une exposition solo.

Les commissaires reçoivent 1000 $ pour leur projet, qui doit investir les deux galeries du CIRCA art actuel, et les artistes du projet reçoivent le cachet CARFAC selon le nombre d’artistes de l’exposition.

Call for Emerging Curators – Cambridge Art Galleries
We are seeking expressions of interest from emerging Ontario based curators to develop an exhibition or project (solo or group) for our Preston gallery space. The call is open to those who wish to have an opportunity to develop their curatorial skills and vision supported by a professional public art gallery team. The selected Emerging Curator will be responsible for all aspects of exhibition development including preparing a short-written statement, coordinating with artists, designing the exhibition, and developing content for all promotional materials. We will provide mentorship, staff support, curatorial fee, artist fees, budget for installation, installation team, promotion and documentation of the exhibition.

We are seeking ideas for exhibitions/projects that are timely, experimental, and cross disciplinary in any medium or format. Alternative design and writing methodologies are also encouraged. For the purposes of this call, emerging is defined by those practicing 5 years or less in curatorial roles.

The selected exhibition/project will be developed over time and the final installation/presentation will take place in winter 2020/21.

Cambridge Art Galleries is committed to the inclusion of diverse voices and encourages applications from emerging curators of all backgrounds.

Face à la censure des Suppliantes d’Eschyle par des militants qui se revendiquent antiracistes, le metteur en scène Philippe Brunet explique : « Le théâtre est le lieu de la métamorphose, pas le refuge des identités. Le grotesque n’a pas de couleur. Les conflits n’empêchent pas l’amour. On y accueille l’Autre, on devient l’Autre parfois le temps d’une représentation. Eschyle met en scène à l’échelle du monde. » En cette époque de crispation identitaire, où l’individu est réduit à son appartenance à un groupe, à son allégeance à une idéologie, il faut envisager la métamorphose comme une fluidité entre soi et l’autre, mais aussi entre l’original et la copie, entre le vrai et le faux. À l’ère de la technologie de fabrication des images (deep fake) et de certains médias (fake news), les procédures d’authentification ne sont plus adéquates. On craint d’une part la falsification du réel, mais on peut d’autre part assister à de nouvelles fluidités : de nouveaux contenus émergent sur les réseaux, sans auteurs ou dont les auteurs sont fictifs ; ils se métamorphosent afin d’acquérir une plus grande puissance de diffusion et de contamination. Ce contenu viral connaîtra des mutations qui lui permettront de contaminer le plus grand nombre d’individus et de réquisitionner leur temps-cerveau. Ainsi, tous les contenus, signes, images, gestes, ont pour mode d’être une métamorphose sans fin, ne connaissant plus d’origine.

outside of large metropolitan centres. We believe it is important to provide opportunities for
and highlight the practices of artists, writers, and curators who produce and exhibit in these
regions, challenging the expectation that culture emerges in the centre and works its way
beyond.

off centre is seeking submissions for critical writing about artists, exhibitions and art related
events that take place outside of large Canadian art centres such as Toronto, Vancouver
and Montral.

We are looking for:
– Critical short form reviews (500-1000 words)
– Interviews
– Studio visits with artists

Submissions must include:
– CV (2-3 pages)
– Bio (150- 250 words)
– title of show, venue name, full list of artists (and curators if applicable)
– additional contact info including: email address, website, social media handles
– Short pitch (200 words max) for a piece you are working on or would like to write, along
with a two-page writing sample, demonstrating your style and experience OR
– A completed article or review that has not previously been published (500 ” 1000 words)

Successful applicants must provide images of the exhibition, performance, or event for
reference for the published piece, with photo credit, or access to professional documentation
