Mandat : La galerie Le Trécarré est une galerie gérée par des artistes et située dans la communauté acadienne rurale de la baie Sainte-Marie, en Nouvelle-Écosse. Elle se trouve sur le campus de l’Université Sainte-Anne et a pour mandat d’exposer les artistes et les habitants de la région à des œuvres d’art contemporain d’artistes canadiens et internationaux. Elle a aussi pour mandat de fournir l’infrastructure et les programmes nécessaires pour encourager l’exploration et l’innovation afin d’offrir le contexte culturel approprié pour faire avancer une expression artistique pertinente, informée et active.

Québec, le 11 janvier 2010. Folie/Culture, organisme qui suscite la réflexion sur des questions de santé mentale en empruntant des pistes de recherche inusitées, vous invite à repousser les limites de l’art et à soumettre vos projets les plus fous pour participer à une soirée cabaret exceptionnelle.
Vous êtes artiste professionnel ou un collectif d’artistes et vous avez des idées surprenantes, indomptables, extravagantes ? Ça pourrait nous séduire ! Par son mandat ouvert, Folie/Culture favorise la pluridisciplinarité mais est également sensible à toutes les pratiques artistiques. Nous aimons dire que nous sommes non-disciplinaires.
La proposition doit aborder la thématique Sortez vos morts. Que l’on parle de ces morts intérieures, celles qui nous habitent et qui nous étouffent complètement, ou de ces morts ex-corpus, néanmoins gênantes et que l’on aimerait bien oublier, une réflexion s’impose. S’interroger sur nous-même, sur nos cadavres sédimentés, nos cafards puants, nos douloureuses manies, c’est une invitation à la fois individuelle et collective à l’autocritique, à la franchise, à l’expiation, au nettoyage émotif; le champ d’investigation privilégié de Folie/Culture.
Pour participer, vous devez envisager une saynète — musique, performance, magie, cirque, vaudou, théâtre — qui ne dépasse pas 10 minutes.
La sélection des projets se fera en avril 2010, et ils seront présentés fin octobre, dans la ville de Québec. Folie/Culture assurera le bouclage financier pour les projets ayant été retenus. Notez que nous n’avons pas de galerie ni d’équipement de production ou de diffusion, ce qui nous oblige à travailler en étroites collaborations et à réinventer les lieux de diffusion.
Votre dossier doit contenir : un curriculum vitæ, une courte bio, une description de votre projet, votre démarche artistique, un CD ou DVD d’œuvres récentes (maximum 10). La date limite de réception des projets est le 31 mars 2010.

Situé dans l’édifice La Filature – une ancienne filature industrielle magnifiquement rénovée -, DAÏMÕN offre des ressources de création, de production et de diffusion dans les domaines de la photographie et des arts médiatiques.
Par ses programmes Artiste résident, Recherche et création, Photographie et impression numérique et Soutien aux premières œuvres, DAÏMÕN encourage les artistes à repousser les limites de leur pratique et à développer de nouvelles approches par le biais de l’image, de la vidéo, ainsi que des arts sonores et électroniques, y compris les pratiques installatives, interactives et performatives. DAÏMÕN privilégie les projets qui font valoir le jeu de plus en plus complexe des médias entre eux et qui interrogent les zones intermédiaires et non seulement les langages constitués des médias utilisés. Seuls les projets comportant un certain degré de recherche sont considérés.
Avec son STUDIÕ, espace de production et de diffusion, DAÏMÕN favorise la mise en espace et la mise à l’essai d’œuvres d’envergure, ainsi que le développement des pratiques transversales. Des rencontres publiques y sont organisées régulièrement afin de permettre à la communauté de s’initier au travail des artistes accueillis en résidence. Ce STUDIÕ multifonctionnel est offert aux artistes pour l’expérimentation, la production et la présentation d’œuvres dont les composantes requièrent une infrastructure technique particulière.
DAÏMÕN met à la disposition des artistes des équipements de tournage et d’enregistrement, et des salles de montage audio et vidéo numérique. Une chambre noire permet des développements argentiques de grand format (1m32) à partir de négatifs pouvant aller jusqu’à 280 mm. Un service d’impression numérique (EPSON Stylus 9600 Pro) est également disponible.

Artiste résident
Offert aux artistes professionnels de l’extérieur de la région Ottawa-Gatineau, ce programme veut promouvoir des échanges féconds entre les artistes d’ici et d’ailleurs. Il s’adresse aux artistes en mi-carrière et établis ou qui ont cumulé plus de cinq années de pratique dans un champ de recherche spécifique.
Le Centre fournit, pour la réalisation de chacun des projets, un séjour de 4 à 6 semaines incluant l’hébergement, l’accès aux équipements du Centre et les services d’un technicien (60 heures). Un cachet de 1 500 $ est versé à l’artiste. Certaines indemnités de déplacement ainsi que des indemnités quotidiennes sont également payées par DAÏMÕN. Tous les autres frais concernant la production de ces projets doivent être assumés par les artistes. DAÏMÕN organise une soirée-rencontre avec le public où l’artiste présente son travail antérieur et actuel.
Recherche et création
Ce programme est offert aux artistes professionnels de la relève, en mi-carrière ou établis. DAÏMÕN sélectionne six artistes par année, dont trois parmi les candidats de la région Ottawa-Gatineau et trois parmi les candidats en provenance de l’extérieur de la région.
DAÏMÕN fournit, pour la réalisation de chacun des projets, un encadrement technique et artistique, l’accès aux équipements du Centre pendant une durée de quatre (4) semaines et les services d’un technicien (50 heures). Certaines indemnités de déplacement ainsi que des indemnités quotidiennes sont également payées par DAÏMÕN pour les artistes de l’extérieur. Tous les autres frais concernant la production de ces projets doivent être assumés par les artistes.
Photographie argentique et impression numérique
Ce programme vise à mieux soutenir la création sur support papier en chambre noire et en impression numérique.
DAÏMÕN fournit, pour la réalisation de chacun des projets, un encadrement technique et artistique; l’accès aux équipements du Centre pour la réalisation des projets pendant une durée de trois (3) semaines et les services d’un technicien (15 heures). Certaines indemnités de déplacement ainsi que des indemnités quotidiennes sont également payées par DAÏMÕN pour les artistes de l’extérieur. Tous les autres frais concernant la production de ces projets doivent être assumés par les artistes. En photographie traditionnelle, les artistes doivent fournir leurs produits de développement et leurs papiers photographiques.
Soutien aux premières œuvres
DAÏMÕN maintient son soutien à la réalisation d’une première œuvre pour trois artistes de la région Ottawa-Gatineau. Les projets admissibles comportent la production d’une œuvre originale utilisant la vidéo, ou l’application de médias hybrides à des œuvres d’art.
Sont admissibles à ce programme, les artistes en début de carrière de la région Ottawa-Gatineau ayant une formation de base et voulant créer dans un contexte professionnel une première œuvre dans les champs de la pratique photographique, vidéographique ou des nouveaux médias. Les artistes professionnels de la région Ottawa-Gatineau ayant déjà une pratique artistique dans une autre discipline (peinture, sculpture, photographie, installation, etc.) et voulant développer une production en vidéo et/ou en nouveaux médias sont également admissibles.
DAÏMÕN fournit, pour la réalisation des projets un encadrement technique et artistique, l’accès aux équipements pendant une durée de trois (3) semaines et les services d’un technicien (30 heures). Tous les autres frais concernant la production de ces projets doivent être assumés par les artistes.
PRÉSENTATION DES DOSSIERS
Les artistes intéressés sont invités à prendre connaissance des conditions des programmes de création et à faire parvenir un dossier comprenant:
– une indication claire du choix du programme;
– un résumé du projet (5 lignes);
– un énoncé de la démarche artistique (1/2 page maximum);
– une description du projet (1 page maximum);
– une description des besoins techniques et un échéancier de production (1 page maximum);
– un curriculum vitæ (3 pages maximum);
– une documentation d’appui * accompagnée d’une liste descriptive;
– une enveloppe affranchie pour le retour du dossier.
* La documentation d’appui doit faire état de la production artistique et non seulement du projet à réaliser. La documentation d’appui peut inclure un maximum de 10 images (fichiers numériques, diapositives ou photographies), une bande VHS, un CD, un DVD (max. 5 min), une adresse URL ou une publication.
Pour les candidatures au programme Artiste résident, un maximum de 20 images (fichiers numériques, diapositives ou photographies), une bande VHS, un CD, un DVD (max. 10 min), une adresse URL ou une publication.
Pour avoir accès aux services et aux équipements du Centre, les artistes dont les projets auront été sélectionnés devront devenir membres actifs au coût de 75$.

1-RÉSIDENCES D’ARTISTES
Les artistes sont invités à nous présenter leur projet de résidence utilisant le traitement numérique de l’image et l’impression numérique grand format dans un contexte de recherche et de création en art actuel. Par ces résidences, les artistes redéfinissent l’intervention numérique, développent de nouvelles écritures artistiques et apportent ainsi une contribution importante aux enjeux actuels de l’image et au développement de la discipline. Les projets qui proposent des points de vue novateurs sur la pratique et engendrent des déplacements significatifs par rapport aux pratiques traditionnelles de l’image sont privilégiés.
2-PUBLICATIONS
Les artistes, les auteurs et les commissaires sont invités à nous présenter leur projet de livre. Nous considérons le livre comme un espace de création artistique et littéraire à investir, un espace autonome, qui laisse place à l’innovation, aux déplacements de sens, aux hybridations, aux interfaces et à la recherche créatrice.
Notre programme éditorial se divise en trois catégories de publications:
A) – Des projets de création artistique utilisant le livre comme véhicule et objet d’art (livre d’artiste, livre hors normes, etc.);
B) – Des monographies sur le travail d’artistes visuels;
C) – Des livres de plus grande envergure qui font le point sur un sujet actuel en art contemporain.
3-EXPOSITIONS
Les artistes et les commissaires sont invités à nous présenter leur projet d’exposition. Le Centre produira une publication couleur accompagnant chaque exposition. Le cachet CARFAC/RAAV est versé aux artistes. La salle d’exposition est vaste (50X30pi. 15X9m, plafonds à 11pi. 3.4m) et est située au centre-ville d’Alma. Le centre d’exposition est ouvert à l’ensemble des pratiques en art actuel, tout en soutenant plus particulièrement les projets apportant une réflexion aux discours en art contemporain numérique. Cet espace d’essai est offert aux artistes afin de favoriser l’émergence de pratiques transversales et novatrices.

Notez qu’il est maintenant obligatoire de nous envoyer l’ensemble de votre dossier imprimé sur des feuilles de papier standard: le Curriculum vitae, la démarche artistique, le projet, et surtout votre dossier visuel. Il est donc important d’imprimer toutes les images soumises à l’appui de votre dossier. Vous êtes libre de mettre une ou plusieurs images par page, ou d’inscrire des informations sur les projets avec vos images. SVP présentez les vidéos sur DVD et, si possible, veuillez imprimer sur papier quelques images tirées de vos vidéos, afin de permettre au comité de programmation d’avoir une référence rapide à votre dossier visuel.

Concours Racines de Radio-Canada international

L’Équipe des Projets spéciaux de Radio Canada International lance Racines, un grand concours national de courts métrages et de documents multimédia. Le concours Racines invite tous les Canadiens et les résidents permanents âgés de plus de 18 ans à soumettre leurs œuvres, d’une durée de 3 à 8 minutes. Ce concours cherche à stimuler la participation citoyenne et à mettre en relief la contribution de toutes les cultures à la grande mosaïque canadienne.
Radio Canada International est à la recherche d’œuvres originales, éclatées, traditionnelles, ou avant-gardistes qui explorent des formes narratives diverses que ce soit par la fiction, le documentaire, le reportage télévisuel, le photo-montage, l’animation, ou tout autre projet qui inclut l’image. Qu’il s’agisse de comédie, de polar, de drame d’un commentaire, d’un slam, d’une vidéo d’art, l’équipe des projets spéciaux veut entendre ce que vous avez à dire sur vos racines … ou leur absence!
“«Vous venez d’où? On me le demande souvent et tout ce que je trouve à répondre c’est que voulez-vous dire?… d’un point de vue géographique, génétique ou culturel? Mon identité, mes racines, sont une partie ou la somme des trois» précise Boris Chassagne, le coordonnateur du projet. «Ce que j’espère des participants c’est la sincérité, la surprise, l’humour, le tragique, le touchant, c’est d’être vibrant, puisque en fait, tout le monde a une histoire à raconter».”
Le concours comporte également un volet anglophone, intitulé Roots Challenge. La date limite pour soumettre les oeuvres en français comme en anglais, est le 7 Mars 2010. Les lauréats du concours se partageront près de 13 000$ en prix et leurs noms seront dévoilés en ligne au printemps 2010. PROGRAMMATION 2010 et 2011 de DARE-DARE

Mise en contexte
Avec Dis/location : projet d’articulation urbaine, DARE-DARE a établi un cadre pour la recherche et la diffusion des pratiques en art public et contextuel. Cette exploration urbaine s’effectue par amarrages successifs en des lieux de la ville de Montréal qui sont porteurs de riches questions sociales et politiques. Ainsi, depuis 2004, le mandat de DARE-DARE est de promouvoir les interventions prenant place dans l’environnement urbain.
En juillet 2008, DARE-DARE a entrepris le troisième volet de Dis/location en déménageant ses bureaux administratifs logés dans deux roulottes au square Cabot, puis au coin des rues Dufresne et Larivière à l’été 2009. Appel d’intentions
Depuis les débuts de Dis/location, DARE-DARE explore des contextes de diffusion en soutenant des démarches artistiques émergentes, axées sur l’expérimentation et la prise de risques. Dans une volonté d’approfondir et d’étendre le concept novateur de DARE-DARE, la théorie et l’expérimentation qui le modèlent et qui en émanent, le centre tentera par sa programmation en 2010 et 2011 de repousser ses limites.
DARE-DARE cherche des projets audacieux qui questionnent la réalité opérationnelle du centre et/ou les pratiques en art publiques et contextuelles à travers des projets qui ont pour modes l’infiltration, le parasitage, la furtivité et le détournement/contournement. Ces projets, dont les processus sont en interaction avec le reel, le quotidien, peuvent se concrétiser de manière satellites, être évolutifs ou se construire à partir de circonstances. DARE-DARE invite les artistes à spéculer sur l’avenir du centre et de l’art en contexte urbain, en repensant notamment le déplacement, l’incertitude et la précarité par l’infiltration de différents lieux et contextes. DARE-DARE recherche des propositions qui nourrissent l’expérience et la réflexion sur la Dis/location, soit-elle géographique, théorique, poétique ou politique.
Vos propositions peuvent prendre différentes formes. À vous de les inventer !
Par la création de scénarios d’infiltrations possibles.
Par la fabulation d’espaces de détournements/contournement produits par/pour Dis/location ?
En imaginant comment opérer différemment Dis/location par un projet infiltrant ou spéculatif.
En fantasmant sur le contexte de diffusion hors mur idéal ?
Vos intentions pourront se traduire par des projets d’intervention publique, de performance, de manoeuvre, d’événement, de table ronde, de publication, de conférences et d’ateliers, de site Web ou autre, qu’ils soient ponctuels, de durée variable ou répétés dans le temps.
Une première sélection se fera à partir du dossier et des pistes de recherche reçues. Par la suite, DARE-DARE pourrait inviter certains artistes à apporter des précisions sur leur projet pour une sélection finale au début de 2010.
Votre dossier doit comprendre :
Par souci écologique, DARE-DARE vous invite à mettre tout votre dossier sur un CD/DVD
• un texte décrivant votre intention de recherche (max 200 mots)(.doc, .pdf),
• un curriculum vitæ (.doc, .pdf),
• une documentation succincte permettant un aperçu de votre travail : dix images numériques (Max 1 Mo) accompagnées d’une courte description (liste en .doc, .pdf), une bande audio/vidéo (Max 5 min) et tout document pertinent.
• un dossier de presse (si disponible)(.doc, .pdf)
Le centre n’accepte pas de dossiers par courriel. Vous pouvez joindre une enveloppe préaffranchie pour le retour des documents (le centre se départira des dossiers non réclamés). Le centre paie les droits correspondant aux normes recommandées par CARFAC.

Le Centre de diffusion Presse Papier recherche des artistes ou des groupes d’artistes dont la production et la recherche en art actuel se manifeste par l’utilisation de l’estampe, en tout ou en partie, dans l’élaboration de leur œuvre. Le Centre de diffusion est aussi ouvert aux propositions de commissaires qui voudraient présenter des projets qui tournent autour de l’estampe, de son développement et de son utilisation comme moyen d’expression actuel.
Une attention particulière sera portée aux dossiers qui feront état d’une recherche de nouvelles formes d’utilisation de l’estampe. Cette recherche peut revêtir plusieurs aspects :
• L’actualité des sujets de recherche
• L’œuvre installative utilisant l’estampe
• L’hybridité des moyens d’expression
• La recherche sur les techniques de l’estampe
• Le mélange des techniques
• Les nouvelles avenues du livre d’artiste

Entendons nous : Le Lobe soupçonne qu’après plusieurs années d’expérience, de présence et de
reconnaissance, les artistes subissent souvent des pressions contraignantes de la part du milieu artistique.
Ces pressions proviennent d’attentes reliées à la pratique, à l’esthétique, au médium ainsi qu’au contenu que
vous avez su développer au fil des ans. Cela empêche parfois d’explorer ailleurs. Au Lobe, nous reconnaissons

Le programme d’été du Centre des arts actuels Skol offre un espace de programmation à une équipe temporaire salariée sur une période de 12 semaines. Ce programme s’adresse aux étudiants à temps plein de niveau universitaire âgés de moins de 30 ans, de toutes disciplines, qui sont intéressés à travailler au sein de la culture des centres d’artistes autogérés.
Les candidats doivent former une équipe réunissant un maximum de 3 personnes afin de proposer un programme d’expositions et une structure de fonctionnement pour le centre. Skol recherche des participants qui veulent explorer, faire l’expérience et développer le contexte actuel du centre. Les postes offerts sont rémunérés sur une base de 35h/semaine à 12$/h, pour une période de 12 semaines débutant la première semaine de juin 2010 (conditionnel aux résultats des demandes de subvention).
Le programme d’été de Skol a été mis sur pied dans le but de soutenir des activités traitant des conditions de la culture des centres d’artistes autogérés. En transformant le centre en lieu d’apprentissage, le programme vise à fournir du temps, un espace et des ressources à de jeunes producteurs culturels afin de leur permettre de faire des expériences dans un contexte professionnel. Sous la supervision du centre, les participants feront des expériences et acquerront des compétences précieuses pour le développement subséquent de leurs ambitions professionnelles. Pour sa part, Skol demeure ouvert à l’influence des propositions et actions des participants sur ses propres processus et pratiques de fonctionnement.
Skol ne possède pas de configuration « idéale », seulement des solutions inventives et audacieuses des participants quant au soutien et à la présentation de la production artistique émergeante au Canada.

* Être légalement autorisé à travailler au Canada ;
* Être citoyen canadien, résident permanent ou avoir le statut de réfugié au Canada ;
* Avoir entre 16 et 30 ans au moment de commencer l’emploi ;
* Avoir été un étudiant à temps plein dans la session précédant l’emploi et avoir l’intention de retourner aux études à temps plein dans la session suivant l’emploi ;

Dans un maximum de 750 mots, veuillez présenter votre projet clairement et simplement, en fonction des sujets suivants :

* La signification des activités proposées en fonction de l’avancement de vos études et de vos ambitions ;
* Le rapport de votre projet avec l’histoire de la culture des centres d’artistes autogérés.
Biographies et curriculum vitæs de l’équipe
Présentez une courte biographie de chacun des participants au projet, en indiquant le rôle qu’ils prévoient jouer dans la réalisation de la programmation. Chacun de ces textes devra être accompagné d’un bref curriculum vitæ (2 pages maximum), présentant les expériences pertinentes quant au rôle prévu de chaque participant.

Le programme d’été fonctionne avec un budget de 3 000 $. À l’intérieur de ce montant, esquissez un budget d’une page pour votre projet. (Ce budget n’inclut pas les salaires.)

Self-expression and extravagance reigned at the Alternator’s Wearable Art Gala in 2009, as a huge, diverse and daring crowd took in the sold-out theatre show, and over 200 partygoers danced late into the night, making it the Alternator’s most successful event ever.
The gears are now turning in preparation for the Alternator’s 7th Annual Wearable Art Gala coming July 17, 2010. This fun and funky adult event is not a fashion show in the traditional sense – it’s an artistic exploration of all types of body adornment. All creative minds are called upon to participate. New categories include Indigenous culture, the art of light, dark art, cyber art, emancipation and freestyle.
If you have an interesting idea of art you can wear, simply download an entry form from our website by following the Opportunities link to Special Calls. Follow the instructions making sure entries include drawings and/or photos of your submission along with a brief description of your project.
Cash prizes totaling $1000 are up for grabs including a $500 peoples’ choice award.

The Yorkton Film Festival invites all filmmakers to participate in the 2010 Golden Sheaf Awards competition – open to all Canadian Productions 60 minutes and under that have been completed between February 1, 2009 and
January 31, 2010.
The Golden Sheaf Awards Competition once again offers a number of special awards along with 19 category awards. Submissions that qualify will also be considered for the Ruth Shaw Best of Saskatchewan, Emerging and Aboriginal awards. New this year is an automatic consideration for the Craft awards – additional entry is no longer required! Submissions received will be charged $85.00 and the fee for Student Productions is $40.00. Companies
submitting more that 4 productions are entitled to a 15% overall discount.
Submissions will be accepted until the DEADLINE of February 1, 2010 at which time the adjudication process will begin. The nominees will be announced in March and the Golden Sheaf award winners will be honoured at the Yorkton Film Festival Gala on Saturday May 29, 2010 in Yorkton, SK.

Sobey Art Award: Call for Nominations, Deadline March 1
2010 Sobey Art Award Announces Call for Nominations
The 2010 Sobey Art Award is officially accepting nominations for this year’s prize. The $50,000 award is Canada’s premier visual art award given annually to a Canadian artist under 40 who has exhibited in a public or commercial art gallery within 18 months of being nominated.
The five finalists of the 2010 Award will be announced in June, 2010. Selected work from the shortlisted artists will be featured in an exhibition hosted by the Musée d’art contemporain in Montreal from October 8, 2010 to January 3, 2011. The winner of the 2010 Sobey Art Award will be announced during a gala event at the Musée d’art contemporain in November 2010.
The 2010 curatorial advisory panel is made up of five distinguished representatives from a Canadian art gallery in each of the five regions: the Atlantic Provinces, Quebec, Ontario, the Prairies and the North, and the West Coast and Yukon.

BACKGROUND
The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia is responsible for accepting nominations for the 2010 Sobey Art Award, from recognized agents and institutions. A panel of curatorial advisors, consisting of a representative from a noted gallery in each of five regions (Atlantic, Quebec, Ontario, Prairies /North, and West Coast), develops the shortlist for the Award. The curatorial panel creates a list of five artists from each region; these are selected from the list of nominated artists, and based on their professional knowledge of their regions and of the national art scene. The curatorial panel then meets and chooses one representative from each region to be included on the national shortlist. The panel will choose the winner in the fall of 2010.
Sobey Art Award
In 2002, the Sobey Art Foundation created the largest art award for a Canadian artist under 40. Since its inception the Sobey Art Award and accompanying exhibition have been organized and administered by the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia.

ELIBIGILITY: INTERNATIONAL, NATIONAL AND LOCAL
The City of St. Albert and the Community Recognition Program Committee are pleased to announce a competition for an integrated Community Recognition Project.
ELIGIBILITY: Expressions of Interest (i.e. qualifications) may be submitted from experienced Artists or Artist teams with a demonstrated ability to produce integrated public art within parks and park infrastructure. This competition is open to local, regional, national and international artists.
The recognition project must be a combination of artistic and functional elements. The purpose of the functional element is to provide physical structures and spaces for individual and group recognition. The public artwork must incorporate 375 spaces and/or support structures to allow for annual recognition of community individuals or groups over a period of 25 years. The public art will be installed in a St. Albert, Alberta park, designed to provide access and aesthetic complement to the project. Although the park design is essentially completed, the project will be integrated into the design and infrastructure, creating an art park.

* Phase 1: Proposals must be delivered no later than 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2010

The Art Gallery of Alberta and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts are pleased to announce a limited, two-stage competition for a public art commission on the City of Edmonton Terrace at the new Art Gallery of Alberta.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Art Gallery of Alberta is working in partnership with the Alberta Foundation for the Arts to undertake a limited, two-stage competition to commission a new work of art for temporary public display on the third floor, outdoor terrace of the new Art Gallery of Alberta.
Designed by Los Angeles architect Randall Stout, the 85,000 square foot building, designed by celebrates the duality of Edmonton’s urban grid layout and the winding contours of the North Saskatchewan River. The building’s square design components are accented by the 190 meter (625 feet) swirling ribbon of a steel Aurora Borealis that weaves in-between the interior to exterior of the structure.
The commissioned art work will become part of the collection of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and will be displayed at the Art Gallery of Alberta for a minimum of 5 years. Re-location or removal at that time will be at the discretion of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts in consultation with the Art Gallery of Alberta.

curators to oversee the selection of an artist for the first two of an
ambitious series of public art projects to be located in the commercial
area of Fraser Street between 41st and 50th Avenues. Central to the
consultant/curator’s role is their understanding of the South Hill Art
Plan, a recently developed blueprint for revitalizing this ethnically
diverse part of South Vancouver. Curatorial approaches to artist
selection are encouraged.
This is a part-time (40 to 50%), 4-month contract with project
start-up in mid-February 2010. Fees for services are $5,000.

a) Podrán participar todos los artistas latinoamericanos interesados en la producción de performance-art en espacio público.
b) Toda propuesta deberá hacer uso del performance como único soporte.
c) Sólo se recibirán las propuestas que consideren su ejecución para espacio público.
d) Las propuestas podrán presentarse de manera individual o colectiva. Se recibirá una propuesta por participante o colectivo. Las propuestas no deberán poner en riesgo la salud o bienestar físico tanto de los artistas como del público en general.

i) Los artistas seleccionados serán invitados a ofrecer una plática y participar en el taller previo al día de las presentaciones.
j) Las propuestas seleccionadas serán presentadas en la tercera edición de HORASperdidas performance-art en espacio público, la cual se realizará del 20 al 26 de abril de 2010 en la Ciudad de Monterrey, Nuevo León México.
k) Los organizadores podrán apoyar a los artistas seleccionados con recursos técnicos y materiales de manera equitativa para la ejecución de su performance.
l) Los gastos de hospedaje de los artistas seleccionados que vivan fuera de la zona metropolitana de Monterrey serán cubiertos por parte de la organización de HORASperdidas. El trámite del apoyo será establecido por el comité organizador y el artista (s) beneficiado.
m) Cualquier aspecto no considerado dentro de la convocatoria será resuelto por el comité organizador, quienes tendrán la facultad de cancelar la presentación de quienes no cumplan con las condiciones de participación.

epipiderme,rencontres autour de da performance, est un
rendez-vous régulier, qui a lieu tous les troisième mercredi du mois, dans
la Fábrica Braço de Prata à Lisbonne (Portugal). Ce programme régulier
est focalisé sur la Performance en tant que langage et questionnement
artistique, il vise à stimuler la pratique et la transmition de ce mode
d’expression en temps réel.
Constatant le manque de festivals et d’espaces pour presenter la Performance et l’Art d’Action,
nous avons senti la nécessité de créer ume programmation réguliére qui poura canaliser
différentes propositions venant de personnes intéressées dans le développement de ce type
de pratiques.
Nous avons créer un cycle mensuelle, durant un an, qui offrira la possibilité de voir de forme
réguliére, des Artistes nationaux et internationaux. Ce cycle est ouvert aux Artistes débutant
comme au Artistas plus expérimenter.
Le project contemple non seulement la programmation et la diffusion de cette pratique
artistique, comme la documentation des actions et des intervium aux Artistes participants.

Arte Laguna looks for brand new performance art
A special selection of Performances Art for the Arte Laguna Prize’ vernissage on 6th March 2010 – Arsenale – Venice
ART. 1 – Techniques
The Prize is open to single artists or groups of artists (collective) without any limits of age, sex, nationality or other qualification. Each artist or group can participate with one or two performances. The performances can be performed with any kind of technique and expressive form. Each performance should have a maximum time of 10 minutes and should involve a maximum of 5 artists.
ART. 2 – Jury
The selection of the participants will be carry out by a Jury composed by: Viviana Siviero (art critic), Alessandro Trabucco (art critic), Igor Zanti (art critic).
ART. 3 – Prizes
The Jury will select 3 winning performances that are going to be performed and to be presented to the public during the opening evening of the Prize on 6th March 2010 at Tese di San Cristoforo, Arsenale in Venice.
ART. 4 – Application Fee
The participation is completely free.
ART. 5 – How to participate in
Artists can apply until the 15th February 2010, entering in the official site web of the Prize www.artelagunaprize.com, filling in the application form http://www.premioartelaguna.it/form_performance_en.php and uploading the required files.
All the documents (including photos) will not be returned.
The first selection will be done with the submitted material.
ART. 6 – The winning performances
The winners will be performed and presented to the public the selected performance during the opening of the Prize Arte Laguna 2009. The vernissage will be on Saturday 6th March 2010 at Tese di San Cristoforo, Arsenale in Venice. The winners have to contact the Organization to carry out a previous tour of the exhibition spaces and should agree with the exhibition choices made by the curators. The costs related to the transportation, the assembling, various materials and any necessary equipments for performing the performance will be incurred by the winning artists.
ART. 7 – Reponsibilities
The cultural association MoCA and Arte Laguna ensure the maximum care and custody of the materials and the works but they are not responsible for any kind of theft, fire or damage on the works or individuals that can occur during all stages of the event. Any application for insurance must be subscribed by the artist himself. We invite all the artists to keep abreast of developments of the selection, which will be regularly updated in the site www.premioartelaguna.it and www.artelagunaprize.com

ART. 9 – Agreement

Each candidate gives to Arte Laguna the rights to reproduce works and texts for the Prize database, for publishing the works on the Prize website and for other forms of communication and activities.
Each Artist gives the Cultural Association MoCA and Arte Laguna the authorization to the treatment of the personal data according to the law on the privacy (Legislative Decree n° 675/96 and n° 196/2003). The participation to the prize implies the knowledge and the total acceptance of this Rules

Appel à projet d’artistes : Ponts, ports et quais, Tournon sur Rhône, La Voulte sur Rhône, Cruas, Rochemaure, Le Teil, Viviers et Bourg St Andéol
Du 08 mai au 31 août 2010 : Ponts, ports et quais
À Hauteur de Montélimar, sur la rive droite du Rhône, sept communes ont prévu de se regrouper pour créer un événement d’art contemporain. Ces communes sont (du nord au sud) Tournon sur Rhône, La Voulte sur Rhône, Cruas, Rochemaure, Le Teil, Viviers et Bourg St Andéol.
À travers le circuit d’art contemporain «Sentier du Rhône» elles souhaitent sensibiliser les publics à la création contemporaine en proposant à des artistes de réaliser des créations éphémères s’inscrivant sur leur territoire.
Le Rhône en tant que patrimoine commun aux sept communes est le fil conducteur de ce projet.
PRÉSENTATION DU PROJET
Le circuit d’art contemporain «Sentier du Rhône» programmé de mai à septembre, est la deuxième édition d’un évènement qui puise son originalité dans l’inscription d’oeuvres contemporaines éphémères réalisées spécifiquement pour le territoire.
L’appel à projet 2010 porte sur la création d’oeuvres sur des sites prédéfinis du territoire :
Une oeuvre par artiste et par commune. Sur chaque commune a été identifié un pont, un port ou un
quai qui accueillerait un projet artistique sélectionné.
Cet événement est avant tout un projet de territoire qui se veut pérenne et cherche à associer les
collectivités, les acteurs touristiques et industriels concernés ainsi que la population.
Les oeuvres artistiques seront implantées en des lieux où elles favoriseront un contact et une réflexion sur le patrimoine naturel, industriel, architectural ou touristique environnant.
Des parcours de découverte et des ateliers d’art pourront accompagner les oeuvres.
Objectifs de l’événement
· soutenir l’art contemporain par un programme d’aide à la création ;
· permettre à des artistes confirmés et à de jeunes artistes professionnels de prolonger leur
recherche sur des sites prédéfinis ;
· sensibiliser le public à une création contemporaine capable de donner une image singulière
de ce territoire et de ces aménagements de la vallée du Rhône ;
· proposer des rencontres avec les artistes et les projets d’artistes qui font de la participation du public, un des ingrédients de leurs démarches ;
· proposer un support pour des actions pédagogiques qui pourraient être menées avec le milieu
scolaire.
Le public
· les habitants de la vallée du Rhône et les habitants de proximité (département, région),
· les adeptes de l’art contemporain de la région,
· les touristes culturels et les touristes en séjours.
Circuit VS thématique
«Ponts, ports et quais» n’est pas une thématique spécifique sur laquelle les artistes doivent s’exprimer mais les lieux d’implantations des oeuvres pour l’édition 2010.
Ils sont communiqués parallèlement à cet appel à projet via les fiches descriptives. Ce circuit relie sept lieux sur le Fleuve et propose au public de se mettre dans un rapport particulier au fleuve Rhône à travers des propositions artistiques.
Les sites d’interventions étant prédéfinis et constituant la cohérence de l’événement, celui-ci cherche à laisser les artistes libres afin qu’ils puissent travailler au sein de ce projet dans la continuité de leur travail de recherche habituel.
CONDITIONS GÉNÉRALES
Le mode de sélection
Le circuit d’art contemporain «Sentier du Rhône» est ouvert :
· aux artistes plasticiens professionnels qui exercent dans un cadre professionnel (Maison des
Artistes, Agessa ou cadre similaire pour les artistes étrangers) et qui peuvent témoigner d’une
expérience artistique solide;
· aux jeunes artistes professionnels.
La sélection se fait la deuxième quinzaine de Février par un comité regroupant des élus, des membres
de la société civile et des professionnels de l’art contemporain.
La décision du comité de sélection est sans appel et sera communiquée personnellement aux
candidats au début du mois de Mars.
Conditions financières
Chaque artiste sélectionné bénéficie d’une bourse artistique d’un montant maximal de 3.700 € (TTC et
toutes charges sociales comprises). Ce budget concerne les honoraires de l’artiste et les frais de
production de l’oeuvre. Les frais annexes font l’objet d’une prise en charge par les organisateurs.
Cette somme sera réglée sur présentation de notes d’honoraires et de notes de frais (rassemblant les
factures correspondant à la production de l’oeuvre).
La répartition entre honoraires et frais de production reste à la convenance de l’artiste.
Les 7 candidats retenus recevront la bourse artistique selon le mode de versement suivant:
· 25% versés fin avril sur présentation d’une note de frais ou note d’honoraire.
· 75% versés à l’installation de l’oeuvre sur présentation des factures relatives à la réalisation
de l’oeuvre et/ou d’une note d’honoraires).
Tout désistement de l’artiste entraînera le remboursement intégral des sommes versées.
La bourse artistique maximale de 3700 € comprend :
· les honoraires pour la création de l’oeuvre!;
· le règlement par l’artiste des cotisations sociales et fiscales relatives à ces honoraires,
· la présence obligatoire de l’artiste au vernissage ;
· la réalisation par l’artiste ou un spécialiste de l’art contemporain d’un texte explicatif et de
présentation de son oeuvre et de sa démarche artistique ;
· une intervention d’au moins une journée dans une structure scolaire ou associative de la
commune.
· la réalisation de l’oeuvre : la création, l’achat et le travail des matériaux
· l’installation de l’oeuvre se fera conjointement: l’artiste sera assisté par les services
techniques des mairies (les artistes sont tenus d’apporter l’outillage nécessaire à leur travail et
de préciser quel type d’aide ils sollicitent pour les interventions spécifiques) ;
· la mise en place de moyens par l’artiste pour assurer la maintenance de l’oeuvre pendant la
durée de l’événement en cas de dégradation naturelle ou humaine de l’oeuvre ;
· le démontage en coordination avec le comité de pilotage.
Les frais annexes (à la charge des organisateurs) comprennent :
· les déplacements de l’artiste,
· la restauration et l’hébergement de l’artiste sur le territoire lors de la visite des sites et de la réalisation de l’oeuvre!;
· la fourniture d’un lieu sur place pour que l’artiste réalise l’oeuvre! (l’artiste devra préciser ses besoins en termes d’espace de travail, d’équipement de cet espace et de la logistique
associée).
· la visite des sites programmée par l’organisateur pour l’ensemble des artistes retenus.
· la restauration et l’hébergement de l’artiste sur le territoire lors de la visite des sites et de la réalisation de l’oeuvre;
· la fourniture d’un lieu sur place pour que l’artiste réalise l’oeuvre! (l’artiste devra préciser ses besoins en termes d’espace de travail, d’équipement de cet espace et de la logistique
associée).
· la visite des sites programmée par l’organisateur pour l’ensemble des artistes retenus.
Budget, Partenariats
· les mairies prennent en charge (à partir de la demande explicite et détaillée de l’artiste), les
opérations liées au montage de l’oeuvre, dans la mesure de leur possibilité et moyens
techniques. L’artiste devra donc faire une liste détaillée de l’aide humaine, du matériel et du
temps nécessaire au montage de son oeuvre.
· l’artiste peut dépasser le budget qui lui est alloué, il doit alors inclure du mécénat d’entreprise dans son projet.
Les oeuvres
Une oeuvre par artiste et par commune est envisagée, soit 7 oeuvres au total.
· installations in situ : les oeuvres proposées doivent être visuelles et ainsi marquer
visiblement le territoire (par exemple, ce ne sont pas des oeuvres uniquement sonores), ce ne
sont ni des peintures, ni des fresques.
· éphémères : leur durée de vie doit être d’un minimum de 4 mois à compter de l’installation.
L’artiste visera à tenir compte du climat de la vallée (notamment en matière de vent) et de la
proximité du Rhône
· l’intégration des oeuvres doit tenir compte de l’échelle du territoire et de la spécificité du lieu d’installation.
· les oeuvres qui sont pensées en rapport avec l’eau : le Rhône peut s’avérer en crue et
présenter des courants violents. Les artistes s’engagent à tout mettre en oeuvre pour qu’elles
résistent au courant et ne présentent aucun danger pour la circulation sur le Rhône.
· les oeuvres qui sont pensées en rapport avec les flux circulatoires : ne doivent en aucun
cas obstruer ni présenter de danger pour la circulation, qu’elle soit piétonne, routière ou
fluviale
· les oeuvres peuvent faire appel à la participation du public : les communes mettront les
artistes qui le désireront en relation avec les établissements scolaires ou le réseau associatif
· le choix des matériaux : l’artiste est libre de choisir tous types de matériaux en respectant
l’environnement du site.
· le délai de réalisation et d’installation des oeuvres : les oeuvres devront être réalisées in
situ ou implantées sur place. La présence sur le territoire des artistes pour la réalisation et/ou
l’installation de leur oeuvre s’effectuera entre le 15 avril et le 8 mai 2010. Les oeuvres
doivent être totalement réalisées et le site nettoyé le 07 mai au soir.
· la sécurité du public : les oeuvres ne devront pas présenter de danger pour les visiteurs
(risques de chutes, de coupures, etc.)
Images des oeuvres et des artistes
Pour une bonne communication autour de l’événement, il est demandé à l’artiste :
· au moment de la candidature : des croquis préalables ou des photomontages de l’oeuvre
future
· suite au montage de l’oeuvre : 4 à 5 clichés numériques (de bonne qualité et en haute
définition)
· la cession des droits d’exploitation de ces images pour une période de 2 ans.
D’autre part, les artistes acceptent d’être pris en photo ainsi que leur travail avant, pendant et après l’événement afin d’apparaître sur les supports relatifs au circuit (promotion, communication,
publications, site Internet, etc.).
Les oeuvres demeurent la propriété intellectuelle des artistes, les droits sont cédés temporairement
dans le cadre de la promotion de l’événement et sans but commercial. Tout autre usage nécessitera
l’accord de l’artiste.
Le choix des lieux
L’organisateur propose aux artistes de choisir un ou plusieurs sites parmi ceux proposés.
Les sites ont été préalablement sélectionnés afin d’obtenir toutes les autorisations d’utilisation des lieux.
Dans le respect de la ligne directrice de l’événement, nous laissons toute la liberté de création et
d’expression à l’artiste dans son utilisation des lieux.
LE DOSSIER DE CANDIDATURE ET LE PROJET
· un Curriculum Vitae succinct
· une photocopie de la carte d’identité
· un dossier présentant le travail de l’artiste (photos, schéma, article de presse…)
susceptible d’apporter au comité un aperçu significatif des activités artistiques du candidat
· la fiche de candidature dûment complétée (à télécharger ici).
· une déclaration sur l’honneur de conformité par rapport aux obligations fiscales et sociales.
· une notice explicative décrivant clairement le projet avec les matériaux pressentis, la taille
de l’oeuvre envisagée et le nombre d’éléments la composant.
· des pages de présentation visuelles (perspective, esquisse de l’oeuvre à main levée,
photos de maquettes, infographies, etc.)
· le budget en grandes masses réparti entre honoraires, budget de production et frais
annexes selon la répartition spécifiée au paragraphe «!Conditions financières!» et avec les
précisions demandées au paragraphe «Budgets, Partenariats»
· les modalités de réalisation et de démontage de leur oeuvre concernant les outillages
demandés spécifiquement à l’organisation pour le montage de l’oeuvre (matériel, livraison,
maintenance, nombres de déplacements, frais divers, autres).
L’ensemble du dossier sera relié afin d’éviter toute perte d’une partie des documents.
Il portera un titre constitué du nom de l’artiste et du nom de l’oeuvre proposée.
Tout dossier incomplet ne sera pas examiné par le comité.

Candidatures attendues
Peuvent participer au Prix Voies Off, sans condition d’âge ou de nationalité, tous les photographes amateurs ou professionnels, les artistes utilisant la photographie, les associations, collectifs, galeries, agences ou écoles…
La commission de sélection choisira les dossiers qui présenteront un travail personnel et original, sous la forme d’une série déterminée par une unité de pensée, de vision ou de thème.

Suite au succès de la première édition (254 inscrits du monde entier, plus de 150 œuvres réalisées), pour son onzième festival (mai 2011), la Biennale Internationale des Poètes (11 rue Ferdinand Roussel 94200 Ivry-sur-Seine France), lance une deuxième édition de son concours international de poésie-média. en partenariat avec Radio Aligre, la revue Poptronics, Le Cube, La Maison de la poésie de Paris, XLR-project.
Sera considérée comme poésie-média toute œuvre mettant les technologies contemporaines au service de la poésie que ce soit dans le cadre d’une performance ou dans celui d’une œuvre enregistrée et projetable : vidéo-poésie, poésie numérique, poésie multimédia, poésie sonore, poésie interactive, installation poétique sur site Internet ou dans un espace quelconque, etc. Ne seront toutefois pas considérées comme telles des œuvres qui ne seraient qu’illustratives comme la mise en musique ou en image de textes poétiques. Les thématiques et les formes utilisées sont libres.
L’œuvre présentée ne devra pas excéder une durée de 15 minutes et devra àtre présentée au concours sous forme d’enregistrement sur un site Internet ou sur un site collectif comme Youtube ou DailyMotion.

Why do we love short films?
The variety of ideas in short filming is steadily growing. Technical innovations are being used and tested faster than anywhere else but also abandoned quickly if they don’t prove to be aesthetically and economically useful. Short films react immediately to current social developments and issues. They can be political or revolutionary because they are independent – which means they don’t have to follow the mainstream. Short films are always up-to-date and cause a lot of surprises.
The festival wants to offer cultural exchange, enabling all participants to deepen their experience of life. Film as a form of art has the power to create a tolerant world – even if initially on screen only: it’s a first class medium for transporting unusual perspectives of our view of the world and our actions. Our goal with the Culture & Art Initiative is to establish the art of short filming in the region OWL – Lippe. Therefore, we will organize and hold the fifth annual International Short Film Festival Detmold.
The International Short Film Festival Detmold is inviting filmmakers from all over the world to submit their shorts, film or video, to its 6th ISFF Detmold Approx. nearly 300 titles will be selected for the international Competition.

Statement:
Media art is the sensate modelling and equally the almost scientific exploration of the human perception assisted by instruments of media technology. Its starting point is the sensate and conscious presence in our world. This includes various relationships between intrinsic and extrinsic experiences. (see Werner Jauk)
The desired objective of the competition is a multi-perspective discussion of the present development, serving to sensualise the connections.
Based on an „architecture of human perception“ (Klaus Nicolai) we differentiate exploration and modelling according to the following dimensions of human existence in time and space:

Media art reflects a culture, which is constituted from a global participation and networking of electronic technologies. How does this electronic networking and re-presence of our world affect our perception? How can our perception be modified in order to manage the networking potential adequately? How does the perception of the human inside and outside re-organise itself in this process? What significance does the internet in terms of social networking have for a culture of evolutionary self-organisation and a new structure of information, education and intelligence? How do the mediatisation processes affect the human perception in terms of specialisation and universalisation.
How do the interactions between social actors change the social relations and the individual identity formation as a result of media usage and an increasing dependence from media. How do the technically mediated types of perception interact with the direct sensate types of perception?
Artistic applications provide the opportunity for the public to practice a responsible way of perception in learning about an active participation in „test arrangements“. This helps to develop an appropriate attitude towards human and natural potentials. To this end the following is wanted: dynamic models for the exploration, testing and development of a multi-dimensional perception of body and space. It is essentially all about prototype examinations on the correlation between innovative technology and the cognitive as well as communicative processes of humans, but also between new media and traditional culture. Performative productions and installations of test arrangements should be given precedence in the funding by CYNETART festival.

Rhizome seeks a Curatorial Fellow from February 15th through June 2010. The Fellow will support the curatorial and editorial departments at
Rhizome through research, writing and administration. This position is
a unique opportunity for a person interested in pursuing a career in
contemporary art to further their engagement with the field and hone
their professional skills.
The Curatorial Fellow must be based in New York and must be able to
commit to 16 hours of work per week, for 5 months, beginning in Fall
2009. This position is unpaid, but academic credit may be arranged.
The Curatorial Fellow will work directly with artists and be overseen
by the Executive Director and Senior Editor.
The Fellow’s primary responsibilities include:
*Research and coordination for an upcoming exhibition at the New Museum
* Coordination and development of the Rhizome ArtBase, including
managing submissions and reaching out to artists
*Researching topics for editorial coverage and articles for Rhizome’s
blog and publications
* Administrative support of programs, such as Rhizome’s monthly New

with contemporary art and particularly new media and its history.
Education or advanced experience beyond the undergraduate level is
preferred. At a minimum, the candidate should have very strong
writing, editing, and analytical skills, and very high internet
literacy. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software is also required and
basic Photoshop skills are preferred.

Employees of the organizers, sponsors and patrons of the Prix Ars Electronica, staff members of organizations that have established and endowed an individual category, as well as the competition’s jurors are ineligible to participate.
A work may be entered in only one category.
Works can be nominated for prize consideration in the individual competition categories until March 5, 2010.
Nominations are recommendations; thus, nominated projects are not automatically entered in the competition. The nominated artists will be contacted by the organizer before the jury convenes. Then, projects must be formally submitted by the artists themselves prior to the entry deadline and in accordance with all competition criteria in order to be entered in the competition.

About Prix Ars Electronica
Since 1987, the Prix Ars Electronica has served as an interdisciplinary platform for everyone who uses the computer as a universal medium for implementing and designing their creative projects at the interface of art, technology and society.
The Prix Ars Electronica, the Ars Electronica Festival, the Ars Electronica Center – Museum of the Future and the Ars Electronica Futurelab are the four divisions that comprise the Ars Electronica Linz GmbH, whose specific orientation and long-term continuity make it a unique platform for digital art and media culture.
The competition is organized by the Ars Electronica Linz GmbH and ORF’s Upper Austria Regional Studio in collaboration with the OK Center for Contemporary Art and the Brucknerhaus Linz, and the prizes are awarded during the Ars Electronica Festival each year. The Prix Ars Electronica is one of the most important awards for creativity and pioneering spirit in the field of digital media.
The event calls for entries in seven categories, including a youth competition. And since internationally renowned artists from over 70 countries also participate in the Prix Ars Electronica, it has established itself as a barometer for trends in contemporary media art.
With 42.245 entries since 1987 and prize money in 2010 totalling 117,500 Euros, the competition offers the largest cash purse for cyberarts worldwide. Each year, six Golden Nicas, twelve Awards of Distinction and approximately 70 Honorary Mentions as well as a grant for the category [the next idea] voestalpine Art and Technology Grant are presented to participants.
Since media art is such a highly dynamic field, criteria for the categories have to be constantly modified and adjusted to societal and technological developments, and so updated to meet new demands.

Events of the Prix Ars Electronica during the Ars Electronica Festival
During the Ars Electronica Festival in September, the Golden Nicas, Awards of Distinction and Honorary Mentions are awarded with pomp at the Ars Electronica Gala. The winners of the Golden Nicas and Awards of Distinction are also invited to present their projects at the Prix Ars Electronica Forums which are held over a number of days. The Ars Electronica Festival presents the CyberArts Exhibition annually as one of its main shows at the OK Center for Contemporary Art. It showcases the winning projects of the latest Prix Ars Electronica. The Museum of the Future, on the other hand, devotes a special exhibition for an entire year to the projects from the youth competition “u19 – freestyle computing”.
Formatted specially for the Festival, the award-winning works from the category “Computer Animation / Film / VFX” are shown at the Ars Electronica Animation Festival with the Electronic Theatre. The “Digital Musics” winners present their works in the form of concerts conceived as part of the programme of Ars Electronica Nightlines.

ElectroSmog: International Festival for Sustainable Immobility :: Amsterdam / New York / Madrid / Helsinki / Riga / London / Banff / New Zealand / Munich / & on-line No Travel Allowed! :: March 18 – 20, 2010 :: + International Design Competition.
ElectroSmog is a new festival that explores the concept “Sustainable Immobility” in theory and practice. Sustainable Immobility is first of all a critique of the growing global crisis of mobility. Current forms of hyper-mobility of people and products in travel and transport are ecologically increasingly unsustainable. The will to slow down, however, seems thoroughly absent. The economic crisis may have temporarily slowed matters down, long term projections still point towards exponential growth of worldwide mobility and exploding energy needs. Alternatives for the current state of hyper-mobility need to be designed urgently.
The exploration of Sustainable Immobility is a quest for a lifestyle less determined by speed and constant mobility. A lifestyle that celebrates stronger links to local cultures, while at the same time deepening our connections to others across any geographical divide by means of new communication technologies, instead of physical travel.
The ElectroSmog festival will engage one of the main promises information age: that communication technologies can replace the need for physical mobility and thereby contribute directly to ecological stability. Our increased tele-connections would lead to a more rewarding deep local lifestyle (homework in the electronic cottage) and to richer connected experiences with the rest of the world (the global village). While these promises have existed since the dawn of the information age, they were never fully realised. The expanding mobility and energy crisis requires us, however, to re-examine these promises and find out how to turn them into viable life-style choices.
ElectroSmog will not take the underlying premises of the information age for granted. We want to ask questions such as:
• Are increased electronic connections truly more energy efficient and ecologically sustainable?
• Do they lead to new forms of electromagnetic pollution (electrosmog)?
• How can the revitalisation of the local be combined with a responsible global consciousness?
• How can remote connections become a truly rewarding experience in and of themselves?
Technology alone is never the answer. We are looking for both technological and non-technological solutions to the central question of the festival: How can a sustainably immobile way of life be achieved?
Bringing Together a Broad Coalition: The ElectroSmog festival brings together a broad coalition of designers, environmentalists, urban and spatial planners, technologists, artists, theorists, and engaged and concerned citizens, to explore and “design” sustainable immobility.
ElectroSmog is a truly international festival, with everything you might expect: international debates and discussions, performances, art projects, exhibits, site specific projects, screenings, a design competition, and more. ElectroSmog stakes its claim for a radical break with the current systems of hyper-mobility not simply by discussing the issue, but by actually implementing it.
No Travel Allowed!
Connecting the Local Off-Line with the International On-Line: The very concept of an international festival and its traditional conventions has been rethought and redesigned from the ground up. This has lead us to a few basic ground rules that will apply for all festival events:
– No presenter will travel beyond their local or regional boundaries to participate in this event.
- All festival events will always take place in at least two locations connected in real-time.
- A crucial dimension of the festival will be its on-line presence, where audiences from basically anywhere with an internet connection can follow events on-line, join in discussions and debates, visit virtual theatres in metaverses such as second life, and contribute to the program.
A network of accomplished cultural and new media centres, labs, theatres and other public venues work together to create the local “hubs” that will inter-connect on-line for the festival.
Beyond the Broadband Enclaves: ElectroSmog acknowledges from the start that bandwidth is not equally distributed across and within societies. Therefore remote connection to lower bandwidth spaces, do-it-yourself telematics, and information technologies for the majority world will be one the central concerns the festival will address.

International Design Competition
ElectroSmog has initiated its own design competition for young designers, artists, students, and professionals to come up with design scenario’s, life-style proposals, prototypes or demo-designs for sustainable immobility.
The competition invites proposals, scenario studies, demos, prototypes or other innovative ideas to in response to the question: How can we design sustainable immobility?
The winner will be awarded eternal fame and a fully equipped residency, generously hosted by the Banff New Media Institute, to execute her or his ideas.
Technology Transfer and Content Follow-up:
• ElectroSmog will make extensive use of existing and open source technologies that will be integrated in a re-useable web environment, developed in collaboration with the Cool Mediators Foundation and De Balie in Amsterdam.
• The technical processes will be documented in a post-festival documentation workshop organised with the innovative Floss Manuals organisation, resulting in a freely downloadable manual and a print on demand publication available from the Floss Manuals website.
• The outcomes of the discussions, debates and theoretical seminars will lead to an international follow-up publication, currently under negotiation and planned for the Fall of 2010.

What circumstances and opportunities do we hope for in old age? Do we have models from today’s
perspective to go by? How do we imagine our lives from 65 on? How can the potential of the “old” in society be meaningfully utilized? Submitted photos should deal with civil or personal conceptions and ideas of aging. We cordially invite all photographers regardless of age, whether professional, amateur, artist, student, or hobbyist, to participate.
Aging in Germany – An aging Germany: We keep getting older and more and more of us are in old age. By just 2030, more people will be over 65 than under. On average, a girl born in 2050 will reach the age of 100 years. What does this mean?
Contrary to popular prejudices, older people are, with appropriate workplace organization, no less
productive than younger people, they are able to learn, and open to new technology. 60-year olds are physically 5 years younger than the generation before them was. All findings about aging shows: The lifestyle and capabilities of today’s elders no longer has anything in common with being old in 1950.
In order to be able to get the most out of the 30 extra years of life that have been won over the last century, however, and not to consider them as merely an undesired attachment to the end of life, we must all together change our preconceptions about old age. Many historically transmitted and still modernly held images of old age are no longer true to reality. But even those images that are adjusted for free time and consumption are to restricting. They also ignore the gains in life expectancy, health, and capability in the aforementioned old age. They overlook the accumulated variation among those of the same age as they grow older. They don’t express that being old now and in the future is what we – in a lifetime – make of it.
Thirty top-class scientists, representing medicine, economics, business management, psychology, athletics science, sociology, information technology, and further disciplines, have posed the question: What this aging means for the strength of the economy, the cohabitation of the generations, and for every single one of us. The give the following answer: They are won years.
We are looking for new images of aging that demonstrate new lifestyles with these extra years, their conditions and consequences.
Winning pictures
The three winning pictures will be awarded € 500 (winner), € 300 (second), € 200 (third).
Exhibition and catalog
A jury of the Joint Academy Initiative on Aging and professionals from the photography and art fields (e.g., Museum of Modern Art Leipzig, a journalist from DER SPIEGEL) will select the photographs to be exhibited. These photographs will be published on the project’s website and exhibited at various locations in Germany. The locations of exhibitions will be advertised on the website. There will also be a catalog of the project.

Franklin Furnace Fund (2010-2011)

The Franklin Furnace Fund, supported by Jerome Foundation and the Lambent Foundation.
Each year Franklin Furnace awards grants to emerging artists, allowing them to produce major works in New York. Grants may range between $2,000 and $10,000 depending upon funding received by Franklin Furnace. Artists from all areas of the world are encouraged to apply; however, funded projects must be presented in New York. Full-time students are ineligible.
In the spring of 2008, Franklin Furnace combined the Franklin Furnace Fund for Performance Art and The Future of the Present programs into one, entitled the Franklin Furnace Fund. Franklin Furnace made the decision to combine these programs because during the last decade, artists have created works on every point of the spectrum between the body of the artist and the circulatory network of the Internet in the creation of temporal work.
Franklin Furnace has no curator; each year a new panel of artists reviews all proposals. We believe that this peer panel system allows all kinds of artists from all over the world an equal shot at presenting their work. Every year the panel changes, as do the definitions of “emerging artist”, “performance art” and “variable media art”. So if at first you don’t succeed, please try again.
Rules for Application Submissions:
1) Applications forms must be submitted online via email to proposals[at]franklinfurnace.org. and also a hardcopy mailed with support material.
2) You are strongly advised to submit a DVD containing a 30-second preview and a longer version of your work sample of up to ten minutes. We also accept images in jpeg format and url links to website samples.
3) Only one proposal per artist is allowed.

The 7th Edition of the International Experimental Film Festival Carbunari 2010 – The International Experimental Film Festival is dedicated exclusively to sustaining and promoting the experimental films. We consider the experimental film to be one of the most interesting expression forms of contemporary art. The seventh edition of the Experimental Film Festival 2010 is a specific one because we will integrate the films from this year within the French-English Poetry Festival organized by the magazine LA TRADUCTIERE to Paris in June 2010.
This year subject of the French-English Poetry Festival is “DU POETIQUE a la POESIE” (”From Poetics to Poetry”). The video artists are invited to illustrate those 36 poems which were presented to the festival by means of experimental films. All the poems will be reproduced in a bilingual French-English edition and the films will constitute the third translation that of the image.
– Each artist is free to illustrate as many poems as he wants;
- The films length have to be between 1.30 and 5 minutes;
- You have to specify the title of the illustrated poem and the poet as well on the first image at the beginning of each film;
- You have to write the text “REVUE LA TRADUCTIERE no 28/33 e FESTIVAL francoanglaise de poesie” on the same image of beginning;
- At least 3 stanzas from the poem that you decide to illustrate have to be inserted directly on the image or as soundtrack.
All the films that you send will be showed on the screen during the Poetry Festival within “MARCHE DE LA POESIE” in Place Saint-Sulpice from Paris beginning on Thursday on 17th of June. A selection of films within the festival are showed on the screen at cinema BALZAC on Boulevard CHAMPS-ELYSEES on the 13th of June at 11.30 o’clock. ANTI Festival 2010 will focus on textual, written and language-based responses to site specificity. We encourage artists working across a range of media to consider the following areas of enquiry, these include, but are not limited to:

ANTI – Contemporary Art Festival will be held in Kuopio, Finland between Sept 29th – Oct 3rd 2010.
ANTI is an international contemporary arts festival presenting site-specific works made for public space. Over the past eight years ANTI has presented live, sonic, visual and text-based art from today’s most exciting and innovative artists. A truly international festival and Finland’s foremost presenter of Live Art, ANTI is a meeting place for artists and audiences fascinated by how art shapes and responds to the places and spaces of everyday life.
ANTI’s emphasis is on site-specificity. The festival understands this term in an expanded sense; proposals may suggest works that deal with a site geographically, culturally or by association etc. The proposal form asks artists to state their preferred site for their project. Please think carefully about where and how a project will be sited. The festival will undertake all negotiations to allow projects to use public/private space. Please remember that ANTI does not programme works for gallery or theatre spaces.
As ANTI festival takes place in public space it is essential proposals consider a site’s pre-existing ‘audience’; be they passers-by, customers or residents. Alongside those who purposely visit the festival, a substantial part of ANTI’s audience are members of the public who come across the works by chance.

UpStage: call for performance proposals

The fourth UpStage festival of cyberformance (live online performance) will
be held on 101010 (10 October 2010). The call is now open for performance
proposals.
The 101010 Upstage Festival aims to create a participatory space for
collaboration, creation, and for the presentation of current cyberformance.
The festival provides a platform (and shares the technichal expertise) to
enable artists to experiment with the new medium, and to have their work
seen alongside performances by internationally renowned practitioners – in a
celebration of the evolution and diversity of cyberformance practices.
To submit a proposal, email the following information to

* working title of your cyberformance and 3-4 sentences about it;
* names and locations of people involved;
* brief background/bios (not more than 300 words each);
* preferred time(s), in your local time, for presentation on 101010;

Performances can be on any theme or topic; the only rules are it must be no
longer than 20 minutes, and must be created and performed in UpStage (for
information about past festivals and performances, see the links at the
left).
*The deadline for proposals is 31 March 2010*; the preliminary selection
will be made by 30 April, with the public announcement of the selected
performances on 1 September 2010.
The festival will take place online in UpStage on 101010, with RL (’real
life’) access nodes at locations around the world. If you are interested in
hosting a RL access node, please contact us for further information and
technical requirements.
Participating artists will be listed and acknowledged on the UpStage web
site. We will endeavour to record all the performances and provide
participating artists with copies for documentation, however this is
dependent on volunteer resources (if you can help with this aspect of the
festival, please contact us).
UpStage is an open source venue for web-based performance and is licensed
under the Creative Commons and GPL. All copyright of artworks remains with
the artists; we encourage artists to use Creative Commons.

Testing Grounds believes in the importance of both celebrating ongoing and enduring artistic achievements as well as supporting the next generation of creative production. Taking place in Brighton in March 2010, The National Testing Grounds of Live Art is a performance platform and development programme commissioning new works from artists exploring Live Art or Music, and encouraging them to push forward their practice.
We are open to applications from artists to make new work, develop new performance projects, rather than reproducing an existing set-performance. In fact, we won’t accept applications to show old work. We actively seek artists to apply to us with their newest, most daring, most imaginative or most thought-provoking ideas. We will then select the best ones and help the artists to develop them and show the new finished works to an audience at The National Testing Grounds of Live Art at the Permanent Gallery in Brighton.
With the greatest respect for other established and stimulating Live Art organisations who do great work to promote and celebrate pre-existing, polished performances, we at The National Testing Grounds of Live Art , focus all our curatorial energies on new ideas. Looking forwards rather than looking backwards, we encourage new proposals and support the next generation of landmark performances.
Testing Grounds aims to provide audiences with a wide variety of works by presenting an eclectic program and embodying diverse artistic attitudes and approaches. Different genres of work are mixed and blended, thus resonating with contemporary curatorial debates, namely to what extent separate artistic disciplines are still in existence or relevant. Testing Grounds also contributes to the richness of the South East region Live Art scene by creating a place where the electricity that surrounds new work fills the air and audiences can mix, enjoy the works and socialise.
This will be the final Testing Grounds of this series of 6 events. Pending successful funding and new and renewed partnerships, we will return in the summer with an exciting new programme.
This event is a partnership with Permanent Gallery and is funded by The Arts Council, South East.

During 2010 turn-berlin gallery is looking for practicing contemporary artists to join us in our ongoing projects.
Under the umbrella “Finding Strength in Contrast”, the shows listed below will explore Fragile Collisions, Urban Voids and Absences, Collective Spirit, Soft Confines, Beyond Brittle, Breaking Edges and Strength in Contrast.
Exhibitions will be on average 12 sq M of wall space for 4 weeks with 10 artists. These shows will give the participants an opportunity for international networking, to deliver a talk on their practice and attend discussion groups.
For the two shows coinciding with the 6th berlin biennial for contemporary art, the exhibitions will be the artists at work in the gallery. These exhibitions will be about process and practice in the context of sharing working space with other artists from diverse backgrounds. The shows will not have a vernissage, people will be invited to the closing of the show to see and discuss the results.
We invite a short written proposal outlining your project or exhibition. Visual material can be attached up to a maximum of 1 MB; our server will reject larger files. A link to a website including visuals and personal information is our preferred option.
Parties intending applying for grants assistance should apply as soon a possible. We are happy to help successful applicants with the grant process. All invited artists will be responsible for their costs of travel, accommodation, subsistence and a share of exhibition expenses.

Cheng Long Wetlands is in rural Yunlin County on the southwestern coast of Taiwan. Artists should have experience working with children and interest in environmental issues and be able to provide a link to a school or organization in their area. The Cheng Long Elementary School students will join with the artists to create outdoor environmental art installations. The curator is Jane Ingram Allen, American artist, curator and critic living in Taiwan since 2004. Sponsors are Taiwan’s Forestry Bureau and the Cheng Long Elementary School.

Anderson Ranch offers an artists’ residency program designed to encourage the creative, intellectual and personal growth of emerging and established visual artists. Finalists are chosen on the basis of artistic merit by an independent jury of established working artists and will live and work at Anderson Ranch for a approximately ten week residency period. While in residence, all artists will share in an established community of interaction, conceptual development and intense production of work. Given the staffing and facilities available at the Ranch, its artist residency program will become one of the most robust programs of its type in the United States.
The Anderson Ranch Artists’ Residency Program is designed to foster creative, intellectual and personal growth for emerging and established visual artists. There are no specific educational qualifications for entry into the program. Awards will be made to those, who in the exclusive opinion of the jury, have submitted the best work by the application deadline.
While in residence, artists will be encouraged to pursue their own work amidst a group of artistic peers. The residency is designed to allow artists to take risks and pursue new projects and ideas, free from every day pressures. The residency is for those artists desirous of advancing their work or creating a new body of work. Residents are encouraged to pursue a multidisciplinary approach toward their work while at the Ranch. Resident artists will be provided with housing, studio space, meals and certain other benefits and will be required to submit only a nominal residency fee of $100. While in residence, there is an optional structure of critical study such as studio visits, visiting artists, etc.

The Portrait Award, now in its thirty-first year at the National Portrait Gallery and twenty-first year of sponsorship by BP, is an annual event aimed at encouraging artists to focus upon and develop the theme of portraiture in their work.
OPEN TO EVERYONE OVER 18
The competition is open to everyone aged 18 and over, in recognition of the outstanding and innovative work currently being produced by artists of all ages working in portraiture.
JUDGING AND THE EXHIBITION
The entire competition is judged, on an equal and anonymous basis, from original paintings. An exhibition is then created from a selection of the entries. Since 1990 the Award has become the foremost competition of its kind. Last year over 1,900 artists submitted their work and the exhibition, which featured sixty paintings, was seen by a record 298,000 people in London alone, an indication of the continuing popularity of the competition.
Many artists who have had their work exhibited have gained commissions as a result of the considerable interest in the Portrait Award and the resulting exhibition. Recent commissions by BP Portrait Award artists include Camila Batmanghelidjh by Dean Marsh (BP Portrait Award 2005 winner), Akram Khan by Darvish Fakhr (BP Travel Award 2004 winner) and Sir Peter Mansfield by Stephen Shankland (BP Portrait Award 2004 winner).

The Dumbo Arts Center (DAC) is a non-profit contemporary arts organization located in Dumbo Brooklyn, New York. DAC’s mission is to catalyze interaction between visual artists, the local community and the wider public, in order to preserve the neighborhood of Dumbo as a springboard for new art. DAC produces the annual multi-site D.U.M.B.O. Art Under the Bridge Festival, presents a year-round program of new exhibitions in its gallery, commissions site-specific art and provides educational programs for artists and high school students. Since its founding in 1997, DAC’s role has been pivotal in the establishment of Dumbo as a recognized neighborhood and cultural destination.
OPEN CALL
DAC invites artists or curators (individuals or groups) from all levels of experience to submit exhibition proposals for realization in its gallery space in 2011. The 3,000 sq. ft. space is located at 30 Washington Street in the landmarked post-industrial neighborhood of Dumbo, Brooklyn. Proposals must be original to DAC and may not have been realized in other venues. DAC emphasizes new ideas and is particularly interested in proposals, which harness the space’s potential, take an innovative, experimental approach to exhibition making and/or are site responsive. Proposed exhibitions can be solo, two-person, or group and are open to all visual arts media.
APPLICATION GUIDELINES
PLEASE NOTE SOME NEW STIPULATIONS THIS YEAR:
1. Artists who apply must be primarily resident in the five boroughs of New York City.
2. Curators who apply must be primarily resident in the five boroughs of New York City, as must the artist/s they wish to include in the exhibition.
3. The format for the first round is a written statement only and should be presented as follows:
• Name(s) of applicant, contact information and if applicable at the time of writing, a list of artists.
• A summary not exceeding 100 words
• Followed by an essay not exceeding 2,000 words
4. All interested applicants are required to visit and know the physical gallery space. You can pick up a floorplan from the front desk.
5. Proposals must be e-mailed to DAC no later than March 1, 2010, to gallery [arobas] dumboartscenter [point] org. Subject line: Exhibition Proposal.
6. Strict rule: please do not include attachments, images or support material. E-mail submissions with attachments will be immediately deleted from our inbox.

SELECTION PROCESS
