L’Association des groupes en arts visuels francophones (AGAVF) présente les événements de ses quinze centres d’artistes et galeries membres à travers le pays et compile les appels de dossiers en arts visuels, arts médiatiques, performance, art public qui s’adressent principalement aux artistes et parfois aux commissaires.

PROGRAMMATION DE VIDÉOGRAPHE
Vidéographe s’intéresse aux formes expérimentales de l’image en mouvement issues de l’art vidéo, qui embrassent aujourd’hui une multiplicité de mode de production et de diffusion.
Nous invitons les artistes, collectifs et commissaires à nous proposer des programmes vidéo, des expositions/installations, des performances, des projets créées pour Internet et toute autre forme d’œuvres explorant l’image en mouvement pour notre programmation 2016-2017 et 2017-2018.
Nous recherchons des propositions qui se démarquent par leur actualité et la manière dont elles renouvellent le langage artistique. Nous nous intéressons à l’hybridation des genres, techniques et technologies; à la réflexion sur le média ou la forme cinématographique, vidéographique ou installative; à la recherche et l’anticipation de formes artistiques nouvelles en prise sur notre époque et ses enjeux sociaux politiques et technologiques; et à l’exploration de formes narratives ou documentaires non conventionnelles. Un comité de programmation évalue les propositions sur les bases de l’expérimentation, la rigueur et la pertinence de la recherche, l’avancement de la discipline et l’engagement social et politique.
Veuillez noter que Vidéographe ne possède pas d’espace de diffusion dédié. Notre programmation est réalisée en collaboration avec des centres d’artistes, institutions culturelles et des festivals au Québec, au Canada et à l’international. Il vous est donc tout à fait possible d’accompagner votre proposition d’une suggestion de partenariat. Ce n’est toutefois pas un prérequis.

Le Magasin d’Arprim prépare une exposition-vente de publications imprimées autour du thème : «comme au lit». Dans un lit, on peut dormir, penser, boire, manger, baiser. On peut attendre que le temps passe, angoisser, rêver. On peut dormir seul, à deux, à trois, avec son chat ou ses chaussettes et, bien sûr, on peut y lire.
Nous souhaitons explorer sous toutes ses évocations possibles le thème du lit : son intimité, son confort, les rêves qu’on y fait, les personnes qu’on y invite ou qu’on refuse… tout en rappelant que le lit est aussi l’espace idéal de lecture de livres.
L’exposition-vente aura lieu dans le Magasin d’Arprim à Montréal pendant le Festival des arts imprimés qui aura lieu du 28 avril au 14 mai 2016. Nous vous invitons à soumettre vos projets de livres, fanzines, magazines, cartes postales, affiches et autres objets de petites formats en vous inspirant de notre thématique. Les œuvres n’ont pas besoin d’avoir été spécifiquement réalisées pour l’occasion. Par ailleurs, le thème ne doit pas nécessairement apparaître de manière littérale dans votre contribution. Sa présence implicite saura nous intriguer.
Les oeuvres seront considérées par les commissaires de l’exposition, Pascaline J. Knight et Céline Huyghebaert, selon des critères liés à leur qualité, et à la complémentarité du contenu avec le reste de la sélection. Toutes les oeuvres exposées seront mises en vente sur place. Le Magasin prendra une cote de 40% sur le prix d’achat afin de couvrir les frais de mise en espace et de gestion. Les frais de livraison devront être couverts par les artistes. Les œuvres pourront être laissées en consigne après l’exposition pour les artistes membres d’Arprim. Il sera possible de devenir membre pour bénéficier de cet avantage.

Concours de peintures canadiennes RBC
Créé en 1999, le Concours de peintures canadiennes de RBC, avec le soutien de la Canadian Art Foundation, est un programme unique en son genre visant à épauler aujourd’hui les talents de demain. Le Concours est l’un des principaux éléments du projet Artistes émergents RBC, dont l’objectif est d’appuyer les artistes en début de carrière. Ce programme fournit non seulement de l’aide financière, mais aussi du mentorat, des activités favorisant la visibilité et plus encore.
Trois jurys régionaux composés d’éminents directeurs de galerie, artistes, conservateurs et chefs de file de leur secteur sélectionnent cinq œuvres de leurs régions respectives pour en arriver aux quinze finalistes, ce qui permet d’obtenir une bonne représentation des artistes en arts visuels de partout au pays.
Est du Canada (Québec, Nouvelle-Écosse, Nouveau-Brunswick, Île-du-Prince-Édouard, Terre-Neuve et Labrador)
Centre du Canada (Ontario)
Ouest du Canada (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Colombie-Britannique, Yukon, Territoires du Nord-Ouest, Nunavut)
Les trois jurys se réunissent pour des délibérations de deux jours à l’issue desquelles ils désignent un lauréat national et deux gagnants d’une mention honorable, parmi les quinze finalistes. Le lauréat national reçoit un prix de 25 000 $, les deux gagnants d’une mention honorable reçoivent 15 000 $ chacun et les 12 autres finalistes touchent 2 500 $ chacun.
Les trois œuvres gagnantes sont ajoutées à la collection RBC, composée de plus de 4 000 œuvres d’art réunies au cours des cent dernières années.

APPEL DE PROJETS D’EXPOSITION
pour la saison d’exposition 2017
L’École d’art d’Ottawa (ÉAO) accepte dès maintenant les soumissions de projets d’exposition pour la saison d’exposition 2017. Les œuvres en cours ou envisagées peuvent être soumises tant pour la galerie du campus du marché Byward que pour la galerie du campus d’Orléans. L’appel est ouvert à tous les artistes; toutes les techniques artistiques sont admissibles. Les projets d’exposition collective sont aussi acceptés.
Les artistes doivent soumettre un seul projet et indiquer dans laquelle des galeries ils désirent présenter leur exposition (marché Byward ou Orléans). Une seule proposition d’exposition peut être déposée pour une soumission aux deux campus. Dans le cas d’une soumission aux deux campus, vous devez indiquer de quelle façon votre exposition s’adaptera aux dimensions distinctes des deux espaces de galerie.
Information de base sur les deux galeries:
La galerie du marché By offre un espace mural d’environ 735 pieds carrés et possède un plancher de bois franc.
Dimensions de la pièce : 28′ – 7.5″ x 25′ – 6.5″. Hauteur de plafond : 11′ – 7.5″.
Hauteur de l’éclairage : 9′ – 9″.
La galerie d’Orléans offre environ 1313 pieds carrés d’espace mural et possède un sol en béton.
Dimensions de la pièce : 60′ – 0″ x 22′ – 0″ Hauteur de plafond : 12′ – 3″
Hauteur de l’éclairage : 9′ – 8″
La galerie d’Orléans a également plusieurs panneaux muraux mobiles mesurant 118″ x 48″, qui peuvent être utilisés pour diviser la pièce sur sa longueur.
Soumissions :
Pour être considérées, les soumissions de projets DOIVENT inclure les renseignements ci-dessous :
Une description de l’exposition précisant les intentions de l’artiste et le titre de l’exposition;
La démarche artistique et un curriculum vitae d’expositions à jour;
Joindre à la demande un maximum de dix images d’œuvres récentes réalisées au cours des deux dernières années. Ne pas joindre d’œuvres originales. Veuillez consulter les directives de soumission pour les documents d’accompagnement (ci-jointes); Une liste d’œuvres qui comprend : le nom, la technique, les dimensions et l’année de réalisation.
Processus de sélection :
Le jury, formé de trois professionnels du domaine artistique, basera ses choix sur la qualité des œuvres, l’intégrité de l’ensemble du projet et le lien de celui-ci avec les programmes courants de l’ÉAO. (Les projets mal organisés ne seront pas considérés). Les membres du jury se rencontreront au cours des quatre semaines suivant la date limite de soumission.
Les artistes seront informés de la décision du jury dans les deux semaines suivant la rencontre du jury.
Les documents accompagnant la soumission pourront être récupérés au bureau de la réception de l’ÉAO à ce moment-là ou, si vous fournissez une enveloppe de retour affranchie, elle vous sera renvoyée par la poste. Les soumissions non réclamées seront détruites dans un délai de deux semaines.
Les DC, DVD et clés USB seront renvoyés par la poste seulement si l’artiste a fourni une enveloppe de retour suffisamment affranchie.
L’ÉAO n’assume aucune responsabilité pour les dommages causés aux DC, DVD ou clés USB, ou pour la perte de ceux-ci lors du transport par Postes Canada.
Conditions de l’exposition:
L’artiste recevra (ou les artistes recevront) un cachet d’exposition selon le tarif fixé par CARFAC.
Les artistes sélectionnés assumeront la responsabilité du transport des œuvres et veilleront à se procurer une assurance transport à destination et en provenance de l’ÉAO.
Pour les œuvres tridimensionnelles, vidéo ou médiatiques sélectionnées qui exigent des équipements spéciaux pour l’installation, il est de la responsabilité de l’artiste de fournir l’équipement nécessaire.

Le centre d’exposition Art-image de la Maison de la culture de Gatineau
est à la recherche de propositions novatrices et d’œuvres nouvelles en art actuel ou art contemporain dans tous les médias. Les œuvres d’art médiatique sont bienvenues. Art-image, une institution muséale, fait partie d’un vaste complexe culturel. Les expositions s’adressent au grand public et jouissent d’une visibilité exceptionnelle. Art-image voit à la promotion de l’exposition et, avec l’artiste, à la mise en exposition. Un cachet d’artiste est versé. Les ventes d’œuvres sont la responsabilité de l’artiste. Art-image ne retient pas de pourcentage sur les ventes.

Dans le cadre des célébrations entourant le 150e anniversaire du Canada, en 2017, le Programme d’art public de la Ville d’Ottawa tiendra une saison d’exposition thématique spéciale et étudiera en priorité les propositions des demandeurs inuits, métis et issus des Premières nations.
Ainsi, pour souligner ce jalon important, la Ville invite les artistes professionnels, les collectifs d’artistes et les commissaires d’exposition du domaine des arts visuels, des arts médiatiques et des métiers d’art à soumettre une proposition d’exposition en lien avec le thème général de la cartographie. Les propositions reçues seront soumises à un comité d’évaluation par les pairs et celles qui seront retenues seront présentées à la Galerie Karsh-Masson en 2017.

La cartographie englobe les façons de connaître, de structurer et de présenter le monde et la place que nous occupons dans celui-ci et par rapport aux autres. Elle nous aide à tracer notre passé et notre avenir. Au-delà du sens premier du terme, la cartographie désigne aussi des réalités biologiques, psychologiques et numériques, entre autres. Elle peut être physique, culturelle et affective. Tout comme l’art, la cartographie est un processus en perpétuelle transformation.

Cahier Folie/Culture nº 11
Québec, le 8 février 2016 – Folie/Culture est à la recherche de collaborateurs et collaboratrices intéressés à soumettre des textes et des créations visuelles pour son 11e numéro du Cahier Folie/Culture, qui porte sur la thématique de La normalité ostentatoire.
Avec ce nouveau Cahier, Folie/Culture propose d’ouvrir une brèche dans la normalité. Puisque la normalité est par définition drabe, comment la rendre ostentatoire ? Il s’agit de porter un regard sur les formes inouïes comme sur les choses banales et usuelles, bref, de rendre ostentatoire ce qui, par ailleurs, est reclus et sans éclat. Il n’y a plus rien dans le placard !
Rappelons que les Cahiers Folie/Culture sont des objets d’édition audacieux à périodicité aléatoire. Se rapprochant du livre d’artiste, leur forme se démarque par son originalité toujours en rapport avec la thématique abordée. Publications surprenantes, ces Cahiers se donnent à regarder, à toucher, à soupeser, à lire et aussi à entendre…
Contraintes formelles :
- Les œuvres plastiques originales devront être bidimensionnelles, dimensions 8 ½ x 11 pouces (bleed), format JPG ou TIF, résolution minimale 300 dpi.
- Les textes originaux ne pourront excéder deux feuillets et devront être en format Word si envoyés par Internet.

Symposium de sculpture de la Ville de Sept-Îles 2016 / Panache art actuel

PANACHE art actuel est mandaté pour inviter les artistes professionnels à soumettre un projet pour le Symposium de sculpture de la Ville de Sept-Îles, qui se déroulera pendant 10 jours, soit du 12 au 21 août 2016 sur le thème : Art et industrie. Les artistes qui souhaitent présenter un projet en sculpture monumentale ou en installation insitu, accompagné ou non d’un projet de performance(s)/animation(s), doivent faire parvenir leur proposition avant le 1er avril 2016.
L’objectif premier du Symposium de sculpture de la Ville de Sept-Îles 2016 est de démystifier lapratique de la sculpture et de favoriser les échanges entre les artistes professionnels, les citoyens et les touristes. Dans le but de favoriser des discours artistiques sensibles aux réalités nord-côtières et d’amener la population septilienne à une réflexion sur l’art dans la profusion du phénomène industriel, le thème retenu pour cette première édition est l’Art et l’industrie. Les volets principaux de cet évènement extérieur sont la sculpture monumentale et l’installation en art in-situ. Les activités de création seront regroupées en deux endroits, soit au Vieux-Quai (sculptures monumentales) et au Jardin communautaire Ruisseau Bois-Joli (installations in-situ). L’édition 2016 se clôturera avec la fin du symposium de peinture MAMU (Uashat).
PANACHE art actuel est un centre d’artistes professionnels en arts visuels qui couvre l’ensemble de la région de la Côte-Nord. Il s’intéresse à la mise en valeur des singularités nordcôtières. Ses manifestations se veulent en lien avec l’actualité culturelle et sociale de la grande région de la Côte-Nord et visent également des échanges avec des créateurs de l’extérieur.
Grâce à la contribution de l’Entente de développement culturel de Sept-Îles pour ce projet, le comité organisateur du Symposium de sculpture de la Ville de Sept-Îles 2016 est en mesure de respecter la loi sur le statut de l’artiste et verse des droits d’exposition aux artistes, assume la promotion, les frais d’hébergement, certains repas ainsi qu’une aide aux déplacements sur le territoire de la Côte-Nord.

Québec, le 19 janvier 2016 — Folie/Culture propose à tous les artistes professionnels ou amateurs, membres, proches et intervenants du milieu social, de s’investir dans une expérience de réflexion particulière : réaliser une vidéo d’une minute produite encore cette année sur le thème de La normalité ostentatoire.
Puisque la normalité est par définition drabe, comment la rendre ostentatoire ? La normalité ostentatoire se présente comme une ouverture sur les espaces limites : sexualité, comportements hideux, fusion culturelle, ruptures de toutes sortes. Il s’agit de proposer des formes inouïes comme des choses banales et usuelles, bref, de rendre ostentatoire ce qui par ailleurs est reclus et sans éclat. Il n’y a plus rien dans le placard.
Les Minutesvidéo sélectionnées seront projetées à l’occasion d’une soirée publique dans le cadre de la programmation 2016-2017. Pour participer, vous avez deux options :

Biennale-concours des arts canadiens de la fibre
Du 9 septembre au 13 novembre 2016
Fibreworks 2016 est la 16e édition du concours biennal populaire d’art de la fibre. Fibreworks est une des expositions la plus vaste pour les œuvres en fibre au Canada et peuvent inclure jusqu’à 35 artistes. Toutes les œuvres sélectionnées sont éligibles pour le prix du jury et peuvent être achetés par Idea Exchange Art + Design pour sa collection permanente dédiée exclusivement à l’art de la fibre canadienne. L’exposition Fibreworks 2016 prend place au Galerie Queen’s Square du 9 septembre au 13 novembre 2016.

CONDITIONS D’ADMISSION
La biennale est ouverte à tous les artistes canadiens. Chaque artiste peut soumettre un maximum de 3 oeuvres. La date limite est le lundi, 28 mars 2016.
Pour être admissibles, les oeuvres doivent comporter des fibres ou des matériaux textiles comme élément principal.
Les oeuvres doivent avoir été produites au cours des deux dernières années. Les oeuvres doivent être de dimensions raisonnables, prêtes à être installées et disponibles pour être expédiées à l’intérieur du Canada.
Chaque oeuvre proposée peut être illustrée au moyen d’un maximum de 3 images numériques, y compris les détails. Chaque image doit être numérotée et doit comporter le nom de l’artiste, ainsi que le titre de l’oeuvre. Prière de soumettre des images sur CD, sauvegardées en fichiers JPEG compatibles avec le système RVB. Dimensions des images : 1024 x 768 pixels; résolution : 300 ppp.
NB tout information soumis doit être en format numérique (Word et PDF accepté). Veuillez inclure un court texte (150 mots maximum) décrivant chaque oeuvre proposée, ainsi qu’un CV d’une page. Les dossiers de candidature ne seront pas retournés aux artistes.
La sélection finale sera complétée par le jury. Toutes les décisions sont sans appel. Les artistes sélectionnés seront avisés par 30 juin 2016.
Les finalistes recevront des honoraires de 100$ pour chaque oeuvre sélectionnée. Les frais de transport seront pris en charge par la galerie .

THIRD SHIFT Public Art Projects — Saint John, N.B. – Call for Proposals for Temporary Art Installations and Performance Deadline: Monday, May 2nd, 2016
THIRD SHIFT is a nighttime exhibition of public contemporary art projects presented by Third Space Gallery. THIRD SHIFT aims to inspire Saint John residents to reimagine their city, reclaim vacant and under-utilized areas and engage with the surroundings of the uptown built environment. Participating artists will reflect on the area’s cultural landscape and historic architecture to develop their projects and exhibit the works. This night-time art experience will be unique to Saint John.
THIRD SHIFT will highlight the work of emerging and established artists who cross disciplines and boundaries in their examinations of contemporary culture. All activities established by THIRD SHIFT are free and open to the public. This year’s event will take place on August 19th, 2016.
Third Space Gallery is pleased to offer a two-week residency program as a supporting partner of THIRD SHIFT 2016. Artists may apply for the THIRD SHIFT Residency in addition to submitting a project proposal. One artist will be selected through an open call for submissions to spend two weeks, from August 5th to August 19th, developing a site-specific project for THIRD SHIFT 2016. Guidelines for THIRD SHIFT Projects
• Submissions will be reviewed and selected by a committee of Third Space Gallery members.
• Projects primarily of a commercial nature will not be accepted.
• Projects must be temporary or ephemeral in nature.
• Third Space Gallery will be paying selected artists an honorarium fee in
accordance to the 2016 CARFAC fee schedule. The fee will be paid upon
completion of the event.
• Maximum two people per project submission.
• Third Space Gallery will not supply technical equipment, but will happily
provide power sources and electrical cords.
• Third Space Gallery will not be covering costs of shipping materials,
travel, or accommodations.
• Additional project funding may be available for artists depending on Third
Space Gallery’s available financial resources. Funding required must be
outlined in your proposal.
• THIRD SHIFT happens rain or shine! Projects must be adaptable to
inclement weather.
Guidelines for THIRD SHIFT Residency
• Submissions will be reviewed and selected by a committee of Third Space Gallery members.
• Proposed residency work must fit within the THIRD SHIFT project guidelines (see above).
• Third Space Gallery will be paying the selected artist an honorarium fee and presentation fee in accordance to the 2016 CARFAC fee schedule, as well as travel and accommodation costs for the duration of the residency.
• Maximum one artist per residency.
• The selected artist will have full access to studio space for the duration of
the residency.

Call for 2018 Upper Gallery Exhibition Proposals

Located in the Midland Cultural Centre, Quest Art exhibitions work to showcase individual artists, collaborates and curatorial practices that demonstrate the best in contemporary visual art practice in areas of painting, drawing, printmaking, installation, sculpture, book works, performance art, photography and electronic media. Striving to reach audiences across the province, Quest Art accepts proposals from diverse cultural, racial, linguistic and Aboriginal populations from across Canada in all forms of artistic expression and practice. Exhibitions selected for the Upper Gallery do receive payment of CARFAC fees.
Quest Art’s Upper Gallery is located on the 2nd floor and is approximately 30’x40’ in area with LED lighting. The Upper Gallery has 12’ high ceilings, many access points to electricity, 2 points of entry, secured access, concrete floors, ceiling suspension capabilities & natural light.

- 10-20 images representing a recent body of work or a specific project. Image files should be no more than 1024 pixels wide and formatted for PC. Time-based work should be submitted via a link or in DVD format. Please do not send original work and do not use CD sticker labels.
- An image list indicating title, year, medium and dimensions.
- An artist’s statement and any other written or drawn material including installation schematics
- A physical description of the proposed exhibition, including the number of works, the space required, equipment needed and/or provided, and any unusual installation requirements.

AKA artist–run supports the creation and development of artist driven initiatives and emerging practices that speak to, reflect and encourage dialogue in our culturally diverse communities. This includes work in all media by local, national and international artists. Our venues consist of a street-level gallery, billboard and multi-use screening and performance event space; we also source off-site locations for site-specific projects.
AKA is currently seeking submissions for project/exhibition proposals that consider AKA’s history and setting. Deadline: March 31, 2016, 11:59 pm CST. Submissions may be received throughout the year to be reviewed by a programming committee once annually.

Het Nieuwe Instituut, the Dutch institute for architecture, design, and digital culture in Rotterdam, announces an open call for three research fellows to work in residence from June to December 2016.
Alongside the institute’s exhibitions, lectures, publications, and archives, the fellowship program will explore and challenge how research is conducted within an institutional context, pursuing alternatives to the expectation of predetermined outcomes, the use of official jargon, and the inertia power of the curriculum vitae. In the long term, the program is also intended to complement, reflect on, interact with, and critique the ongoing activities of the institute.
Applicants are asked to submit an independent research proposal that illuminates their own approach to research, including specific and unconventional methodologies. Proposals should confront subjects within or between the fields of architecture, design, and digital culture, but can also rely on a larger system of references, schools of thoughts, and practices from the fields of art, performance, non-fiction and creative writing, programming, humanities, social, physical, and life sciences. Research projects may influence or contribute to future exhibitions or events, but other possibilities may emerge independently of the existing programs of Het Nieuwe Instituut.

Research
In recent years, the concept and practice of research has attracted renewed attention within the cultural sector. In a world increasingly documented—and simultaneously obscured—by the speed and quantity of information in circulation, research plays a critical role in elucidating the relevance of both existing and new ideas, and the responsibility of institutions in their construction and promotion.
Het Nieuwe Instituut wants to acknowledge and give visibility to research projects, practices, and initiatives whose success is understood not in terms of academic citations, adherence to official formats, or profitability, but in their ability to offer departures from established modes of thinking and to become the motor for sharing collective forms of knowledge.
Theme
The programs of Het Nieuwe Instituut are organized around a framework of landscapes and interiors, things and materials, and an annual theme that confronts temporal shifts within these fields.
Taking as a departure point the centennial anniversary of the Russian Revolution, Het Nieuwe Instituut’s 2017 program will explore revolution, reflecting on radical movements of the 20th century while also investigating the unstable landscape of the present and the unpredictable territories of the future. Revolution has both political and cultural associations, referring to sudden disruptions in social, technical, and aesthetic practices and theories as well as to the cyclical, self-perpetuating nature of systems of governance and production.
Application
Applicants for a fellowship are invited to develop an independent research proposal and to articulate a relationship between their proposal and the frameworks and thematic subjects unfolding within the institute.

The mission of the Update biennial events
Update’s mission is to expand the scope of contemporary artistic creations and traditional media with works using contemporary and new technologies in an original and intelligent way: treatment of sounds and light, use of new media, application of innovative evolutions in communications, telecommunications and broadcasting, centered on the world of information, communication, and computers and interaction. These descriptions are in no way restrictive and should be interpreted in the broadest way possible.
General guidelines for entry in the NTAA competition
The aim of the competition is to present works in accordance with Update’s mission. The submitted work may have been exhibited previously, but the jury reserves the right to exclude creations that turn out to be not realizable within the limits of the practical possibilities of the Liedts-Meesen Foundation, keeping in mind that the works will be displayed during the exhibition. The basic equipment is available and at the disposal of the selected artists; specific and special equipment must be provided for and lent by the artists for the duration of the exhibition.
There will be a publication of the Update_6 exhibition.
Calendar and conditions of the competition
The choice of the projects selected by the jury will be rendered public at the website in June 2016.
Eligibility and submission details
This international competition is open to all age groups and to all nationalities. English is the working language.
Prize
A cash award of 5,000 euro will be allocated to a work and to its creator. Moreover, the jury reserves the right to award an honorable mention to an artist. The Liedts-Meesen Foundation and the jury reserve the right to not award the prize and to transfer it to the next edition. There will possibly also be a prize of the European Commission. The winners will be announced at the final day of the exhibition.
Exhibition: Lee Lee Nam
During the same period Zebrastraat shows work of the South-Korean artist Lee Lee Nam. His works are located at the intersection of tradition and modernity, humanity and nature, East and West, analog and digital, originality and duplication and of neoliberalism and digital technology. Often referring to art history, he creates a dialogue between different traditional and modern media technologies and their cultural history. He lifts the barrier between diverse cultures and periods of time and questions the habits of perception and handling with art.

PROGRAMME DE RÉSIDENCE
Vidéographe s’intéresse au développement des formes issues de la vidéo expérimentale et qui embrassent une multiplicité de mode de production et de diffusion formant aujourd’hui le champ plus large de l’image en mouvement. Le programme de résidence de Vidéographe vise à soutenir l’expérimentation et la création d’œuvres qui renouvèlent et questionnent cette discipline. Les artistes sélectionné.es se verront accordé un cachet de 1 750$, ainsi que l’accès à nos équipements de tournage, de montage et de diffusion pour un montant maximal de 10 000$ calculé au tarif membre. Ils ou elles disposeront également d’un maximum de 20h de soutien technique selon la nature du projet et sur rendez-vous.
Nous acceptons les propositions de monobandes, d’installations, d’œuvres destinées à être diffusées sur Internet ainsi que de toute autre forme. Les œuvres doivent toutefois être indépendantes et non commerciales. Ce programme s’adresse aux artistes de la relève aussi bien qu’aux artistes professionnels. Animé par la conviction que notre discipline doit s’enrichir de discours et de points de vue multiples, nous encouragerons les artistes issus de groupes traditionnellement sous-représentés, de minorités ou de groupes marginalisés à soumettre un projet.
Afin de soumettre une proposition, il n’est pas nécessaire d’être membre de Vidéographe, cependant, si votre projet est accepté, nous vous demanderons de devenir membre. Lorsque qu’elle sera complétée, Vidéographe se réserve le droit de visionner l’œuvre en exclusivité pour évaluer si elle pourrait être incluse à son catalogue et distribuée. L’acceptation dans le programme de résidence n’implique cependant pas que votre œuvre sera automatiquement prise en distribution.
Admissibilité

Arts Fellowship, 2016 – 2017
The Living Arts Centre invites new graduates of arts institutions to submit applications for the 2016 – 2017 Arts Fellowship Program in the Flameworking, Glass, Painting & Drawing, Textiles/Jewellery, and Wood Studios.
This program offers graduates an opportunity to work within a professional studio environment after completing their studio education. This program provides a venue to assist new artists with the production of their first body of work in a specialized studio. Based on studio availability, fellowships will be awarded to recent graduates in the above noted studios.
Flameworking: Half-time Residency – up to 25 working hours in the studio per week
Glass: Single Slot Residency – one blow/casting slot per week, 10 hours cold-working per week

Every winter from January through March, creative individuals and collaborative groups are awarded the gift of time and space at our beautiful Arts Center in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains near Sisters, Oregon, for month-long residencies.
Residencies are open to national and international artists in any discipline including 2-D, 3-D, installation, film, digital, photography, music, dance, theater, and literary, as well as creative thinkers in engineering, design, and the sciences, who have emerged and established themselves beyond university training. Caldera also accommodates parent-artists. In 2016, we are also opening additional residency opportunities to culinary artists.
APPLICATIONS
Applications for 2016 are now open through June 15, 2016. The applications process must be completed online through submittable.com. Apply here.
Those artists who wish to apply as collaborators must submit under the collaboration category. Mature, as well as emerging artists, are encouraged to apply. Artists in the United States, US citizens abroad, and international artists are eligible. Proposals for creative residencies must be compatible with available working studio spaces, facilities, and resources.

SELECTION PROCESS
Panels meet in late summer to review applications and invitations are made in early September. Artistic merit and promise are the basis for selections. While it is not required, an embrace of how art and nature communicate is encouraged at Caldera.
A panel of fellow artists and art professionals chooses 21-36 artists for residences each year. The panel changes annually in order to keep the program dynamic. Final awards of residencies are at the discretion of Caldera. In some special instances, artists are invited to participate without submitting an application.
Depending on funding, Caldera may make stipends available to attending residents. For more information about stipends, contact Elizabeth Quinn. Residents are responsible for food, travel, materials, and other expenses.
LIVING ENVIRONMENT
Residents are provided a private cabin (two walk-up log cabins and five A-frame cabins available) with sleeping loft, living room/work area, kitchenette, bathroom, and a porch overlooking Link Creek or with a view of Blue Lake from their windows. Cabins are heated by woodstove (with chopped wood provided) and electric heat. The kitchens have a coffeepot, two-burner stove, microwave, small refrigerator, dishes, and pots and pans. Once a week, dinner provided by Caldera, is shared as a group.
There is very little cell service at Caldera. Dependable service is a 20-minute drive away in Sisters. A landline is available to residents. A phone card is required for long-distance calls. Wi-Fi is available throughout the Hearth Building, studios, and cabins.
We regret that pets are not allowed. Caldera is a smoke-free environment.
Overnight accommodations are limited to invited residents only. Artists with children and a caretaker are the only exception. Studio time and teaching and presentation opportunities are only for artists invited through the application process. Accommodations for visitors are available in the local area community and range from 10 – 16 miles from Caldera.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Residents are given 24-hour access to studios and the time and space to create.
They have access to the Hearth Building where there is rehearsal and performance space, a mixing board, sound booth, speakers, a projector and large screen, and a well-equipped commercial kitchen. There is also shared access to wet and dry studios that house a darkroom, two kilns, 18” x 36” etching press, and large blank walls.
By design, residents form a small community of 7–12 artists, depending on the group. Collaboration and exchange is encouraged.
Writers and others not needing an expansive space, work in their A-frames, which contain a large table and living area. A shared loft space in the Hearth Building is optional for writers and digital artists.
Visual artists work in one of Caldera’s two studios. Campbell Studio is a semi-private space that holds two studios for visual artists of all kinds. One side of Campbell Studio has two kilns, drying shelves, a work table, sink and counter; the other side has large walls, a work table, a large and small sink and counters. Studio B has large walls, a sink, counter, work table, a darkroom and the etching press. Both studios include natural light and large loft spaces above the main floor.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Artists are not required to finish a project during their residency, but they share their work with the local community at our Open Studios events at the end of each month. Open Studios are held at our Arts Center on the last Saturday of every residency. They are free and open to the public.
Artists are also encouraged to do outreach projects with Caldera youth and in neighboring schools in the area. There are opportunities to present work or to create workshops for youth.Occasionally calls for applications for teaching residencies are announced at Caldera. Atelier Topaz – résidence Opasatika, Ontario, Canada
Le lieu
Situés au cœur de la forêt boréale, les Ateliers Topaz sont à la fois un lieu de retraite et un centre de création pour artistes, toutes disciplines confondues. L’endroit parfait pour la réflexion, l’évasion. Le groupement d’édifices fait 900 mètres carrés et repose sur 14 hectares face à la route Transcanadienne. Il donne sur un étang de deux hectares. Topaz c’est la « Route 66 » dans le nord de l’Ontario. L’endroit, modeste et nostalgique, rappelle aussi les grandes épopées de la colonisation francophone de l’Ontario. Ces studios de création ou cette résidence d’artistes, endroit idéal pour les arts visuels, sont situés au centre du Canada, à mi-chemin entre l’Atlantique et le Pacifique, là où les étoiles deviennent les topazes de la nuit.
Ce qu’on offre
D’abord l’espace et, l’espace de travail déterminés selon les besoins de l’artiste. Les espaces polyvalents permettent d’y faire de la peinture, de la sculpture, de l’installation, etc. L’atelier de menuiserie, le Bar à clou, est équipé des outils de base. Un magasin d’objets trouvés est disponible autant pour l’inspiration que pour l’utilisation dans une œuvre. Le peintre apporte ses pinceaux, le musicien son instrument et l’écrivain son ordi.
Les personnes qui séjournent aux Ateliers Topaz jouissent de l’accès à la cuisine et sont responsables de préparer leurs repas. Toutefois Laurent peut aussi leur cuisiner de petits plats typiquement canadiens-français aux besoins ou aux désirs. Topaz possède deux suites avec lit double et une chambre avec lit simple. Chacune possède sa salle de toilette avec douche. Ces installations évoquent admirablement le style des années 1960. Pour la baignade, le Lac des Cœurs se situe à deux kilomètres à l’est. Pour le canotage ou la pèche, la rivière Opasatika est deux kilomètres à l’ouest. Pour se déplacer, il y a de vieux vélos ou la marche. Pour un frais très raisonnable, votre hôte peut aussi vous conduire ou organiser un déplacement vers Kapuskasing à l’est ou vers Hearst à l’ouest. Les matériaux d’artistes ne sont pas disponibles dans la région. Il est donc important de faire vos achats avant votre séjour, à moins que vous travailliez avec des matériaux que l’on peut se procurer dans des magasins ordinaires ou même en nature.

Project Background
The International Sculpture Collection was founded by philanthropist Dan Lawrie with the Royal Botanical Gardens in 2014. Since 2014, the collection has acquired and commissioned eight sculptures from local and international artists and will continue adding to the collection through to 2020.

Call to Canadian Indigenous Artists :: Valley Line Tawatinâ Bridge
Call to Artists – Tawatinâ Bridge Public Art Project (TBC) the Tawatinâ Bridge public art competition, is open to all professional Canadian Indigenous artists residing in Canada, and is held in accordance with the City of Edmonton policy “Percent for Art to Provide and Encourage Art in Public Areas” (C458C).
The Edmonton Arts Council Public Art Program, on behalf of the City of Edmonton, is seeking a Canadian Indigenous Artist or artist team to integrate site-specific public art at the Tawatina Bridge. Artist teams may be comprised of Canadian Indigenous lead artist(s), or Canadian Indigenous lead artist(s) in collaboration or mentorship relationships with emerging artists.
There are two potential locations for public art, both of which provide significant and highly visible opportunities for public art. Renderings are provided with images illustrating the art locations. In a manner that is culturally appropriate to the peoples of this region, artwork concepts should consider the significant cultural heritage and legacy of the river valley, the rich histories, stories and customs that tell of this place, and Indigenous perspectives of “river crossing”. Artworks of diverse mediums as well as contemporary and customary (traditional) disciplines are welcome.
Applicants must identify one site location in their letters of intent, as well as their conceptual approach to the project. Letters of intent must also include a preliminary indication of a community engagement strategy.
Shortlisted artists will have first opportunity to interact with local Indigenous Elders and knowledge holders at a 1-2 day site visit/workshop (date TBA), facilitated by Métis curator Candice Hopkins.

The Art Gallery of Guelph announces the Call for Submissions for the fourth annual Middlebrook Prize for Young Canadian Curators.
The Middlebrook Prize invites curators under the age of 30 to submit an innovative proposal for an exhibition at the Art Gallery of Guelph (to take place from SEP 15 to DEC 18, 2016). Applicants are encouraged to reflect upon the ways in which creative thinking may animate and engage a community, instilling a shared sense of purpose and connectedness.
By supporting and mobilizing Canadian creative talent, the Middlebrook Prize aims to inspire positive social change through creativity and connectedness in a time of unprecedented economic, environmental, social, and cultural challenges.
The winning curator will receive an honorarium of $5,000.

Le Centre d’exposition L’Imagier s’est engagé dans un vaste projet architectural qui permettra d’offrir un lieu d’exposition de qualité aux artistes. Pour ce faire, L’Imagier sera fermé d’avril 2016 à février 2017. Mais l’équipe de L’Imagier ne s’arrête pas pour autant et vous convie à participer à une série d’évènements hors-murs.
Dans ce contexte, le Centre d’exposition L’Imagier invite les commissaires à investir le Parc de L’Imaginaire et à faire sortir l’art visuel des murs de la salle d’exposition. Adjacent au Centre d’exposition L’Imagier qui organise les programmations artistiques qui y sont présentées, le Parc de L’Imaginaire accueille chaque année des musiciens et des professionnels des arts de la scène. Durant la saison estivale, une série de concerts de musiques du monde, de jazz et de musique actuelle y sont offerts gratuitement.

Renseignements importants
Le Centre d’exposition L’Imagier met à la disposition des artistes une roulotte de chantier de 8’ x 20’ qui sera installée dans le Parc de L’Imaginaire;
Le budget du projet doit être d’un maximum de 8 000 $ (excluant la location de la roulotte);
L’exposition dans la roulotte doit être présentée du 17 juin au 11 septembre 2016;
La proposition doit inclure une installation dans la roulotte et un ou des évènements ponctuels dans le Parc de L’Imaginaire;
Une scène permanente est installée dans le Parc de L’Imaginaire;
Le Centre possède l’équipement nécessaire aux présentations sonores ou musicales à l’extérieur.

Le dossier doit comprendre :
Description du projet, incluant un budget détaillé;
Curriculum vitae (maximum 3 pages par artiste et par commissaire);
Démarche artistique (maximum 1 page par artiste);
Documentation visuelle: 10 images JPEG sur CD (n’excédant pas 1,0 Mo);
Documentation vidéo: format Quicktime sur DVD ou un lien vers des extraits vidéo (Viméo, Youtube);
Liste descriptive des images identifiée au nom de l’artiste;
Dossier de presse, s’il y a lieu.
Les dossiers reçus seront soumis à; un jury de sélection. Veuillez noter qu’il n’y aura aucun retour de dossier.

What is the competition about?
MARCO, Museo de Arte Contemporánea de Vigo, 49 Nord 6 Est—FRAC Lorraine, Metz and SFKM, Sogn og Fjordane Kunstmuseum, Førde have organized the Award for Young Curators. This award gives participants the opportunity to submit a topic of research and reflection which is of personal interest, and the possibility to bring it to fruition in the project venues at MARCO, at 49 Nord 6 Est-FRAC Lorraine, and at SFKM.
How does it work?
–The proposal must be within the field of contemporary artistic creation and is open to any creative forms.
–Experimental proposals including a collaborative dimension or a collective practice (with communities, social groups, multidisciplinary participants, etc.) are welcomed.
–The project may be accompanied or constituted by a program of activities in order to open a new space of reflection regarding the treated topic. The project may include works already in the Collection of FRAC Lorraine and the Collections of SFKM (to be discovered during the residency in Førde).
–The winning project will have a maximum budget of 20,000 EUR for each venue.
–The project will open at the first venue early in 2017.
Who can apply?
All curators born in 1975 and later are eligible to enter the competition. If the entry is a group project, one person will be chosen from that group to represent it and act as a mediator. Curators will not be allowed to participate as artists in the projects. No more than one project per entrant will be accepted. Entries must be previously unpublished and must provide for the participation of two or more artists or contributors.
The curator of the winning project will receive the sum of 6,500 EUR, tax included, as an honorarium. His/her travel expenses (for the residencies and installation periods in the three institutions) will be reimbursed, upon presentation of appropriate supporting documents, for up to 5,000 EUR, including taxes.

Submission / deadline
Entries must be exclusively and simultaneously submitted (PDF format) to the following email addresses—info [arobas] marcovigo [point] com, coordination [arobas] fraclorraine [point] org, and curator [arobas] misf [point] no—with the subject: “Award for Young Curators.” Applications received in only one venue will not be accepted. Projects must be written in English.

Winner prize announcement
The jury will select the winning project in May 2016. The jury’s decision is final. The jury may declare the award void should they consider this necessary. The criteria for evaluating the entries will be based on the quality and the originality of the research project.
The jury’s decision will be announced before May 31, 2016 and all participants will be notified by email.
