Les artistes professionnels en art actuel qui souhaitent participer à l’évènement Barachois In Situ – La Biennale doivent soumettre leur proposition de projet de création in situ avant le 1er mars 2018.
Les artistes sélectionnés recevront un cachet de réalisation, un montant forfaitaire pour les frais de déplacement, de subsistance et l’achat de matériaux. L’équipe de BIS LaB assurera l’hébergement pour la période de réalisation du projet, évaluée à dix (10) jours soit du 1er au 11 août 2018.

Colis suspect – expositions
Le centre d’artistes AdMare lance un appel de dossiers et invite les artistes intéressés à soumettre un projet d’exposition pour la programmation 2019. L’espace Colis suspect est une vitrine de 23 // 41 x 138 x 60 pouces (largeurs x longueur x hauteur) située au coeur de l’Aéroport des Iles-de-la-Madeleine. La programmation totalise six expositions, d’une durée de sept semaines chacune.
Cet espace d’exposition est réservé aux artistes professionnels, de la relève ou établis de toutes les disciplines des arts visuels sont admissibles, ainsi que celles des arts médiatiques.

Les HTMlles : Festival féministe d’arts médiatiques + de culture numérique

Depuis 1997, Les HTMlles rassemble des artistes, des théoricien-ne-s et des activistes passionné-e-s par la réflexion critique sur les nouvelles technologies dans une perspective féministe. Le festival a lieu tous les deux ans à Montréal et il vise à présenter des projets innovants créés par des artistes locaux-ales et internationaux-ales. Chaque édition s’inspire d’un thème spécifique et aborde des questions sociopolitiques d’actualité qui dépassent les frontières des pratiques artistiques et féministes.
Nous lançons un appel à projets auprès d’artistes locaux-ales et internationaux-ales de manière à ce que nous continuions ensemble à faire connaître les actions féministes critiques et créatives qui existent au sein des arts médiatiques et des cultures numériques.

Car dans la société actuelle, les réussites financières et professionnelles sont celles que nous valorisons et qui nous définissent. Les rétributions imposantes devraient donc occulter les aspects moins glorieux de notre existence et, au besoin, relativiser, voire compenser l’impact d’une agression, d’un abus.
Et cette autorité dont hérite tout naturellement celui-celle qui réussit, pourquoi faudrait-il la remettre en cause en dénonçant les abus de pouvoir? Tenter de jeter de l’ombre sur une carrière éblouissante de succès serait vain. Alors restons bouche bée face au succès incarné.

L’actualité internationale des derniers mois a été riche en rebondissements. Trois ans après que la journaliste Sue Montgomery ait lancé #BeenRapedNeverReported, une nouvelle vague de dénonciations, cette fois-ci internationale, balaye à nouveau les réseaux sociaux. Au fil des sorties publiques, dénonciations médiatiques et accusations criminelles médiatisées, la façade de l’édification patriarcale de notre société semble se fissurer. Des figures emblématiques de la domination d’une classe favorisée ont, brusquement, perdu leur immunité. Ces personnalités publiques incarnaient un succès professionnel, économique et médiatique et c’est cette définition même du succès qui est remise en question aujourd’hui. Ce n’est pas tant la mise en échec de leur carrière devant la déferlante de dénonciations qui compte, mais plutôt l’échec d’un système tout court, de son appropriation de la réussite et de son organisation juridique et politique.
Pour la prochaine édition des HTMlles, nous invitons les artistes en arts médiatiques à réfléchir aux notions suivantes :
— les définitions du succès et de l’échec au sein d’un système basé sur l’oppression;
— l’impact des technologies de l’information en réseaux dans l’émergence de nouvelles voix;
— les potentiels et limites des dispositifs de sousveillance.

Appel de projets Festival Phénomena 2018

Thème: Théâtre d’images
Phénomena est un festival interdisciplinaire et bilingue dont l’objectif est de mettre en valeur des artistes novateurs, inclassables et extravagants. Le Festival présente des cabarets, des performances fantaisistes et théâtrales, des spectacles avec projections, des happenings, de la danse performative, des installations et des événements éclatés et poétiques. La 7e édition de Phénomena aura lieu du 12 au 26 octobre 2018.
L’expérimentation et la prise de risques sont au cœur de notre travail. Phénomena s’intéresse aux artistes qui ont une démarche très personnelle, qu’ils soient émergents ou confirmés, et aux compagnies indépendantes et anticonformistes. Nous offrons une tribune aux artistes qui prennent des risques, sont rigoureux et se questionnent. Nous cherchons à présenter des créations hybrides, poétiques et hors-normes, qui demeurent touchantes et authentiques.

L’ensemble de ces programmes propose une réflexion critique sur l’actualité de l’art, soutenue par une activité éditoriale.
Le centre comporte deux espaces d’exposition et offre une aide technique professionnelle en galerie. Les artistes et les commissaires sont invités à déposer des projets pour la programmation régulière en galerie. Implanté à Lévis, Regart, centre d’artistes en art actuel assure, depuis 1986, une présence dynamique des arts visuels actuels auprès des publics des territoires de Chaudière-Appalaches et de Québec.
Présentée en galerie, en vitrine et dans l’espace public, la programmation de Regart met en lumière des productions qui relèvent de l’hybridation et de l’expérimentation, où la qualité artistique et le discours théorique sont valorisés. En favorisant les projets novateurs, la recherche et les échanges, le centre a pour but d’être un espace ouvert, un champ des possibles où le dialogue avec les artistes et la médiation avec les publics sont fondamentaux.
Orientation artistique 2018-2019
COLLABORATION
Le centre d’artistes en art actuel Regart privilégie depuis deux ans des programmations dédiées aux expositions collectives et à la diversité dans le centre d’artistes : l’objectif étant d’ouvrir un espace de dialogue et de réflexion entre l’artiste et le centre.
La programmation 2018-2019 du centre demeurera en lien avec cette direction artistique.
Elle visera à principalement soutenir des approches collaboratives et des formes hybrides, où sont conciliées orientations et sensibilités de plusieurs domaines ou modes d’expression; où sont interrogées des limites; où sont proposées des méthodologies novatrices; où « l’Autre » sert d’inspiration, par le dialogue, par l’observation; où est affirmée la pluralité des réalités transversales de notre monde.
Regart invite ainsi les artistes et commissaires misant sur la pensée collaborative pour mettre en mouvement leurs pratiques, leurs réflexions et leurs méthodologies à soumettre un dossier pour sa programmation 2018-2019.
Le centre invite à soumettre des propositions mettant en exergue des arbitrages de forces, de motifs ou de concepts qui surprennent; se démarquant dans le paysage culturel par leurs points de départ; avançant de nouveaux modèles quant aux rapports « gens – espaces – choses ».

Le Musée Laurier de Victoriaville invite les artistes en arts visuels du Canada à présenter un dossier dans le cadre de sa prochaine exposition estivale qui sera présentée du 31 mai au 9 septembre 2018 au Musée de l’Hôtel des Postes.
L’exposition La musique source d’inspiration, source de création cherche à démontrer l’importance de la musique dans la création artistique, comme sujet ou source d’inspiration. Pour représenter ce lien étroit entre ces deux arts, une cinquantaine d’œuvres créées en s’inspirant de pièces musicales ou de chansons seront présentées sur les deux étages du musée.
Les artistes en arts visuels intéressé(e)s peuvent soumettre un dossier complet composé de propositions d’œuvres de tous médiums, techniques, formats et styles. Seul(e)s les artistes qui auront une œuvre sélectionnée seront contacté(e)s.

ODD GALLERY
The ODD Gallery is a contemporary exhibition space housed in KIAC. The ODD Gallery’s year-round programming features solo and group exhibitions (selected and curated by committee) by regional, national and international visual artists, as well as the annual thematic project, The Natural & The Manufactured. The gallery also presents a wide array of outreach programming including artist talks, openings, lectures, screenings, youth programs and other special events. Gallery programming fosters professionalism and appreciation of regional visual arts practice and provides the community with exposure and access to a diverse range of national and international contemporary visual arts practices and theories.
The Natural & The Manufactured project re-examines the various cultural and economic values imposed on the environment, while exploring alternative political, social, economic and aesthetic strategies towards a re-interpretation of landscape and social infrastructure. Formerly programmed through an artist’s call for submissions, the Gallery now seeks proposals from guest curators. The N&M curator will program exhibition-creation residencies for 2 artists (summer, 2019), resulting in 2 site-specific exhibitions opening Thursday August 15th, 2019 as part of the Yukon Riverside Arts Festival. The guest curator will host a public talk about the project as part of the festival and will provide an exhibition text for the brochure.

2018 Burtynsky Grant
Call for Submissions
Deadline: April 30, 2018
Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky and the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival are requesting submissions for the 2018 Burtynsky Grant—a $5,000 annual grant to support a Canadian artist in the creation of a photobook. Burtynsky generously donated his 2016 Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts to create the grant and foster the careers of emerging Canadian artists.
This grant is intended to support photo-based artists who are in the advanced stages of developing a photobook. The jury is looking for submissions from those that have created a book dummy, are currently seeking funding to work with a publisher or to self-publish, and who have had little to no prior opportunity to publish a photobook. The winner and a short list of honourable mentions will be announced at the end of May 2018.

ABOUT NUIT ROSE
Nuit Rose is a free annual festival of queer art and performance, showcasing provocative, contemporary work by local and international artists. Over the past four years, Nuit Rose has showcased over 250 projects, and has become an important platform for queer voices across artistic disciplines. Nuit Rose is a catalyst for community engagement, giving audiences opportunities to experience unique, transformational encounters with queer art across the city of Toronto.
Nuit Rose will mark its fifth anniversary in 2018, returning in epic fashion on Saturday, June 16, 2018.
2018 THEME: UNBOUND
The theme for Nuit Rose 2018 is Unbound. Artists are invited to creatively interpret, explore, and respond to this theme in their proposed projects. Examples could include:
Projects that explore ways in which art can challenge existing conventions, norms, classifications, confines, and limitations
Projects that celebrate freedom from limiting forces, including physical borders or oppressive systems
Projects that show us ways to overcome boundaries and barriers
Projects with expansive vision, or that incorporate concepts of infinity or oneness

ELIGIBLE WORKS/ PROJECTS
Applicants may submit work in any medium; two dimensional works, sculpture, installation, screen-based works, new media, performance, multi-media and site-specific works. Works and projects intended for either indoor or outdoor presentation are welcome.
We strongly encourage artists and organizations to apply who reflect diversity and intersectionality in sexuality, gender, culture, race, ethnicity, creed, religion, age, ability, and other dimensions of diversity.
FESTIVAL LOCATIONS
Nuit Rose will take place in various Toronto venues and neighbourhoods, including in the Church-Wellesley Village and West Queen West. The festival’s curators will allocate selected works in our key partner venues. Applicants who have their own venue or location to present their project are also strongly encouraged to apply, and may be included in the festival as a Partner Project.
SELECTION PROCESS
A jury of artists and curators will evaluate the proposals and make recommendations for selection of works to be included in the festival. The jury will evaluate proposals using the following criteria:
Artistic merit
Project viability and feasibility
Capacity for the work to engage communities
Capacity for the work to be interactive or relational
Representation of diversity and intersectionality (sexuality, gender, culture, race, ethnicity, creed, religion, age, ability, and other dimensions of diversity)
Representation of queer, 2-spirited or trans culture, history, theory or perspective
Representation of local and/or global social and cultural issues (including critical issues in art-making)
Alignment with the Nuit Rose 2018 theme: Unbound
Projects may be selected as Featured Projects, Independent Projects, or Partner Projects. Featured Projects will receive remuneration based on current Canadian Artists’ Representation (CARFAC) rates, in addition to receiving exhibition or performance space in key venues. Those invited to participate as Independent Projects will be eligible for exhibition space and promotional support only. Partner Projects are those organized and presented independently (e.g. a curated exhibition by a gallery) and will receive promotional support as part of the festival. Nuit Rose strives to award feature project status to as many projects as possible, dependent on available funding resources. The jury may also use its discretion to award commissions to specific projects. The Nuit Rose Festival reserves the right to limit the total number of works accepted (per proposal).

Since opening in 1981, The Toronto Sculpture Garden (TSG) commissioned temporary artworks by over 80 artists, in a small City of Toronto park opposite St. James Cathedral on King Street east. Until 2014, it was operated as a partnership between the City of Toronto and the Louis L. Odette Family, benefactors who created the non-profit L.L.O. Sculpture Garden Foundation which funded and administered the exhibitions. Under the direction of Rina Greer, the TSG provided artists with the opportunity to work experimentally in public space, explore issues of scale and materials, and engage with the local community as well as visitors to the neighbourhood. For some, the expansion of their practice beyond the studio led to major public artworks elsewhere.
In 2018, the City of Toronto’s Arts & Culture Services intends to continue the legacy of excellence in the TSG with two new commissions. We are currently inviting proposals from artists for installations in May and October.
Proposals for both 2018 exhibitions will be selected by the TSG Selection Panel, which will meet in February 2018. Preference will be given to new work that responds to the site; only in exceptional cases will existing work be considered.
Budget: $30,000.00 CAD (+HST), which includes all artists’ fees, materials, installation and removal, transportation, insurance, and permits.

Hamilton Artists Inc. Call for Submissions
Exhibition Platforms, Special Projects, Film Festival and Residency Program
Hamilton Artists Inc. is seeking dynamic proposals from artists, collectives and curators at various stages of their careers and from across disciplines for its exhibition platforms, which include the Cannon Gallery; James Gallery; Cannon Project Wall; and ArcelorMittal Dofasco Courtyard. The Inc. is mandated to exhibit a range of disciplines and career levels and to exhibit a cross-section of artists from local, regional and national communities. New in 2018, pending funding, we would also like to encourage the submission of “special projects.” Special Projects may include, but are not limited to, independent projects diverse in nature that may happen at the gallery or off-site and might manifest themselves through happenings, print materials, digital platforms, screenings, workshops or other forms of public presentation or intervention. The Inc. also hosts a rotating artist in residence program in partnership with the Cotton Factory and Photophobia, a film festival dedicated to contemporary moving images in partnership with the art Gallery of Hamilton.
Selections criteria are informed by the Inc.’s mandated objectives. As an artist-run centre, the Inc. is interested in works/projects that have potential impact, push boundaries and engage with critical, conceptual and/or experimental contexts from a diverse range of perspectives and voices. The Inc. supports and encourages submissions showcasing artists and curators most recent endeavors as well as works that incite conversation and promote a range of intersectional narratives. We are committed to providing a platform for risk-taking and creating an inclusive space to explore expanded art practices. Photophobia Contemporary Moving Image Festival

Photophobia is the 12th annual festival of short-format contemporary media, film, video and moving image hosted in partnership between the Art Gallery of Hamilton and Hamilton Artists Inc. Established in 1999, Photophobia was Hamilton’s first film and video festival dedicated to the development of experimental time-based media at a time when there were no such platforms in the Hamilton community. Not confined by restrictions or themes, Photophobia is a free festival series presented under the cover of night in the Irving Zucker Sculpture Garden at the Art Gallery of Hamilton and the ArcelorMittal Dofasco Courtyard at Hamilton Artists Inc. in August.

The Hamilton Artists Inc. Cotton Factory Residency Program is a 3-month rotating artist residency for Inc. members. Southern Alberta Art Gallery (SAAG) Submission Guidelines
Exhibition proposals are accepted throughout the year and reviews are ongoing. Selection is carried out over a period of time through studio visits and correspondence with artists and curators in whom the gallery has an interest. Those interested in proposing their work to SAAG are asked to include with their submission: a curriculum vitae, an artist statement and/or letter of intent, a wide selection of images, and other relevant support material. The gallery will not return your submission – please do not send original artworks or valuable materials. Given the large number of submissions received by the gallery, formal letters of reply will only be issued to proposals of immediate interest.
Exhibitions are generally six weeks in length. An opening is held to introduce the work to the public. Artists are also invited to give an illustrated lecture on their work in conjunction with the University of Lethbridge Faculty of Fine Art during the academic year. Other special events (workshops, panel discussions, etc.) are considered on a case-by-case basis.
The Southern Alberta Art Gallery pays CARFAC fees, shipping and insurance, and often seeks funding to produce catalogues for the exhibition. All publications, including our quarterly newsletter GALLERY (which discusses and reproduces work by exhibiting artists along with other programming), are exchanged with other institutions in Canada and abroad.
The Southern Alberta Art Gallery fosters the work of contemporary artists who challenge boundaries, encourages broad public engagement and promotes awareness and exploration of artistic expression. Our work extends to local, national and international communities.

Faena Prize for the Arts 2018 open call

The Faena Prize is a building block of our ethos, and an example of our lasting commitment to multidisciplinary cultural production as the core and heart of the Faena District. We aim to identify and support the newest, boldest and most cutting-edge artists from around the world.

The international nonprofit organization Faena Art announces the open call for the 2018 Faena Prize for the Arts. A biennial international juried prize, the Faena Prize for the Arts recognizes artistic experimentation, encourages post-disciplinary and temporal exploration, and promotes inquiry of the multiple links between art, technology and design. This year’s open call aims to summon multidisciplinary artists from across the world to imagine site-sensitive works that rethink performance and time-based practices, in dialogue with the physical and symbolic space of the Faena Art Center Buenos Aires while engaging with the cultural and urban conditions of the city of Buenos Aires. Projects that highlight the potential crossovers and synchronicities between the two spaces and two cities of the Faena District may ultimately be eligible for exhibition in both spaces. The winning proposal will be produced for exhibition at Faena Art Center Buenos Aires in 2019 and, if appropriate, may be exhibited at the Faena Forum Miami Beach.

Under the coordination of Ximena Caminos, Chair and Artistic Director of Faena Art, the 2018 selection jury will include: Carlos Basualdo, Chair Faena Circle and Keith L. and Katherine Sachs Senior Curator of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art; Andrea Bellini, Director of the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève; Anita Dube, artist and curator of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2018, Pablo León de la Barra, Curator, Latin America, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, and curator of the exhibition for the 2016 Faena Prize winner Roger Hiorns; and Franklin Sirmans, Director of Pérez Art Museum Miami. The advisor to the Faena Prize is curator Jesús Fuenmayor.
Considered one of the most prestigious art prizes in the Americas, Faena Prize winners are awarded a total of 75,000 USD; 25,000 USD of which is allocated to the artist in unrestricted funds with a 50,000 USD budget for production to realize their proposal. The resulting work will be exhibited at the Faena Art Center Buenos Aires with the possibility of being adapted for Faena Forum Miami Beach. Two special mentions will also be awarded, each with a 1,000 USD prize.
While maintaining the open call, the Prize also features a Nominating Committee that will include fourteen curators and museum directors from around the world. These nominations will be anonymous and will be reviewed by the Faena Prize jury along with all open call submissions.

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM
Founded in 2001, the KIAC Artist in Residence Program has welcomed hundreds of talented artists, musicians and filmmakers to Dawson City from all regions of Canada and around the world. The program operates year-round and accommodates two artists concurrently for residencies of four to twelve weeks in duration. Artists in Residence also facilitate outreach programs such as artist talks, open studios and workshops intended to promote interaction and professional development, and advance the understanding and appreciation of contemporary arts practices within the community.

THE NATIONAL RESIDENCY AWARD
So many artists are trying to fit their practice into the hours outside of their day job. Many are setting up “studios” on their living room floors or dining room tables. At Spark Box Studio we offer artists time and space to focus on their work in an encouraging and supportive environment.
Imagine one full month to get a new project off the ground. One full month to think only about creating your work. One full month without distractions. This is what Spark Box Studio is offering to artists living and working in Canada: one full month at the Spark Box Studio Residency where you will be given a studio space and living space for FREE. In addition the selected artist will receive a $1,000 bursary which Spark Box Studio owners Chrissy and Kyle are offering in memory of their dear friend and artist Donald Dawson.
This residency opportunity is a unique way for established and emerging artists to cultivate new ideas, access a rich library of arts resources, and focus on their career.
ABOUT THE NATIONAL AWARD
One artist will receive a month-long residency at our studio in Prince Edward County, plus the $1,000 Dawson bursary. The selected applicant will be granted a semi-private studio space and given access to the Spark Box Studio equipment and resources, as well, the winner will be provided with living accommodations for their month-long stay.
When you come to stay at Spark Box Studio, you will receive a bedroom, a 150 square foot dedicated semi-private studio space and access to our print facilities. We are open to artists working in a variety of materials and process ranging from the visual arts to literature to film making to music. We encourage applicants to review our blog and see the types of artists we have had work here. We are open to most processes so long as the applicant feels their project is suitable for our studio space and environment (please keep in mind we are a non toxic studio).

Le Centre des arts du Yukon, Parcs Canada et le Service des parcs nationaux des États‐Unis sont à la recherche de trois artistes visuels qui souhaitent participer à un parcours de création transfrontalière au parc historique national de la Ruée‐Vers‐l’Or‐du‐Klondike, en Alaska, et au lieu historique national de la Piste‐Chilkoot, en Colombie‐Britannique. Craft & Design at Harbourfront Centre is a unique Canadian institution that assists recent graduates in establishing professional careers. The Craft & Design Studio is the only post-graduate national training facility for craftspeople, recognized by Canadian Heritage.

What does it mean to be a Harbourfront Centre Artist-in-Residence?
The main goal of the Craft & Design Artist-in-Residence program is to assist emerging designers and makers to establish professional careers.
To that end, full-time Artists-in-Residence have 24-hour access to Harbourfront Centre Craft & Design Studio and the equipment required to design and make functional and/or non-functional work.
Each discipline has two volunteer, professional Artistic Advisers to give advice, offer critiques and suggestions about career direction and work development.
Furthermore, Craft & Design organizes events with national and international artists and professionals – lectures, workshops, seminars, conferences, and exhibitions.
Artists-in-Residence may have the opportunity to exhibit their work in one of the many on-site venues.
Artists-in-Residence also have the opportunity to teach classes to the public.

Imago Inc. est un centre d’artistes autogéré de production en estampe.
Le mandat de l’atelier Imago est de promouvoir et diffuser la création artistique dans le domaine de l’estampe contemporaine. Fondé en 1986 et incorporé en 1992, par 11 artistes du sud-est du Nouveau-Brunswick, le centre offre un lieu de recherche à ses membres et un atelier fonctionnel aux artistes.
L’atelier d’estampe Imago Inc. est à la recherche d’artistes pour travailler dans son atelier pendant une période de 2 à 3 semaines. La résidence doit avoir lieu entre septembre et avril.
Imago prend en charge les frais de transport, l’hébergement et offre un cachet d’artiste de 500$ par semaine.

À propos d’ENE
Est-Nord-Est (ENE) est un centre d’artistes autogéré dont le mandat est de soutenir une communauté internationale d’artistes et d’auteur·e·s en art actuel en offrant un espace et du temps pour la recherche et l’expérimentation, ainsi qu’un accès privilégié à des ressources et des savoir-faire locaux.
Le centre est situé à Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, un village sur la rive sud du fleuve Saint-Laurent, dans un cadre géographique et historique unique. Les paysages se caractérisent par la forte présence de l’agriculture, de la forêt et du fleuve. Saint-Jean-Port-Joli se trouve à 115 km de Québec et à 350 km de Montréal.
Fondé à l’origine sur la rencontre entre les pratiques contemporaines de la sculpture et celles relevant d’un savoir-faire traditionnel régional, ENE est aujourd’hui ouvert à toutes les disciplines et pratiques en arts visuels actuels. Les résidences à ENE s’adressent aux artistes professionnels, établis et émergents, venant de partout dans le monde. Ces séjours offrent aux artistes et aux auteur·e·s l’occasion d’approfondir leurs recherches, d’expérimenter et de créer dans un espace culturel unique, vivant et stimulant. Les résidences à ENE
Les périodes de résidence offertes au printemps, à l’été et à l’automne permettent généralement de réunir quatre artistes et un·e auteur·e en art actuel. Or, ENE entreprendra en 2018 son grand projet d’immobilisation dans le cadre duquel ses quartiers seront entièrement reconstruits. ENE adopte donc exceptionnellement cette année un lieu temporaire qui permettra aux résident·e·s d’avoir accès à un atelier partagé à même le lieu d’hébergement. Par conséquent, seulement deux artistes et un·e auteur·e seront sélectionné·e·s pour chaque période de résidence d’une durée de huit semaines.
En 2018, ENE vit un moment charnière de son histoire : la déconstruction et la reconstruction intégrale des locaux du centre à même son site actuel. Pour souligner cette année de changement, tout en demeurant ouverte aux artistes de tous horizons, la programmation 2018 encourage particulièrement : les pratiques qui ont pour enjeux la mémoire, l’archive, la transmission, l’oubli ; celles qui abordent les notions de géographie, d’environnement, d’écologie ; celles qui travaillent à partir des idées d’architecture, de renouvellement, de transformation ; celles qui ont pour approche l’étude des lieux environnants ou l’intervention sur le territoire.

ABOUT RECESS: Recess is an artists’ workspace that is open to the public. Recess facilitates every-day interactions between artists and audiences in order to promote the productive space of the working artist as a site of valuable visual and intellectual interaction. Our endeavors promote critical exposure for the artists we support while fostering an inclusive environment in which artists and the public can engage in a meaningful exchange of art and ideas.
ABOUT SESSION: Artists are given flexible storefront space and resources to realize ambitious projects, with Recess remaining open to the public at every stage of the project’s development. Though similar to a residency program, Session goes beyond the traditional structure to facilitate interactions between artists and audiences throughout the creative process. We encourage artists to engage with their audience in a manner specific to their creative goals, while using Recess as a studio, exhibition space, stage, and/or experimental platform to generate new work.
Session artists receive an unrestricted honorarium of $1,500 as well as a project stipend based on the material needs of their Session. Artists have access to their space 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the full duration of their Session and are expected to work on a daily basis or the equivalent of at least 20 hours per week. Session artists will also receive individualized support from Recess staff as well as visits from members of Recess’s Advisory Board, which is comprised of leading gallerists, editors, artists, curators, and academics.
In conversation with Recess staff, artists designate their own work hours, which must overlap with at least 12 of Recess’s 30 public hours each week. Working during public hours allows Session artists to connect with visitors through visual, aural, and/or performance-based material or activity. If the artist chooses to work in part when the space is closed to the public, his/her presence must be implied during open hours by the presence of site-specific work in process.
THE SPACE: Recess’s Session program is located at 46 Washington Avenue in Brooklyn. The 1,760 square-foot space features high ceilings and a glass storefront window that opens to our Recess resource room and also visibly links artists to the street, the neighborhood, and the public. In addition, this space offers wifi, a kitchenette, tools, AV equipment, basic woodshop equipment, storage for project materials, and access to Assembly artist apprentices. Photos and a floor plan of the new space are forthcoming. Public hours in Brooklyn are Tuesday–Saturday, 12-6pm; Thursday, 2-8pm.
SELECTION CRITERIA: Recess will only consider complete proposals submitted in the correct format; please read submission guidelines carefully. Session artists will be selected based on the conceptual rigor and artistic quality of their proposal and their potential to work productively within the unique program environment. Successful applicants will articulate a particular need to work in a manner that expands beyond traditional studio methods and gallery exhibition formats.
Proposals will be evaluated with the following criteria in mind:
Quality of the proposed project – assessed based on submitted project proposal
Need to work in Recess’s non-traditional studio/exhibition space – assessed based on project proposal and samples of past work
Project feasibility – assessed based on project proposal and proposed budget
Artistic merit and professional record – assessed based on CV and the samples of past work
SELECTION PROCESS: In an effort to decentralize visual authority while maintaining a level of critical coherence, a panel consisting of former Session artists, leaders from the contemporary arts community, curators, and arts practitioners with programming experience review Recess’s applications. Visit the Artist Review Panel page for a listing of this year’s panelists. Panelists first review project proposals and then look at samples of past work. If panelists judge these primary application materials to be of the highest quality, then they review all other supplemental material. A small portion of successful applicants will be selected for interviews to discuss their proposal in detail.

Project Proposal: Your proposal, including all text and up to 4 renderings or images of proposed installation (optional but encouraged), should be less than 1000 words and should not exceed two pages of 12-point, single-spaced type. Call for submissions: Brucebo Fine Art Summer Residency Scholarship (Gotland, Sweden)
and The William Blair Bruce European Fine Art Travel Scholarship

Eligibility: The Brucebo foundation supports emerging and early-mid career artists. Eligible applicants must be Canadian Citizens who have studied fine arts within the last ten years. Self-taught artists with less than ten years of exhibition experience may also apply.
Since 1972, the Brucebo Fine Art Scholarship Foundation of Gotland, Sweden has offered a fine art residency/scholarship to a talented emerging professional Canadian artist providing an inspiring study/work stay in northern Europe on the island of Gotland, located in the Baltic Sea. The Brucebo fine art scholarships date back to the post-impressionist era in Europe, where two young artists, Caroline Benedicks of Sweden and William Blair Bruce of Hamilton, Canada, met in Paris, married and after many years on the European continent, settled on Gotland Island. With the untimely death of William in 1906 and that of Caroline in 1935, the estate, in the early 70’s, created the Brucebo Fine Art (Scholarship) Foundation, an organization promoting island-based cultural history and fine art. To commemorate the unique Swedish-Canadian link of Caroline’s and William’s marriage and impressive artistry, two annual fine art scholarships for younger, professional Canadian artists were established: The Brucebo Fine Art Summer Residency Scholarship and The William Blair Bruce European Fine Art Travel Scholarship.
The Brucebo Fine Art Summer Residency Scholarship funds a three-month working residency – starting June 1 – at the Brucebo studio cottage in the Själsö fishing village, 7 km north of of Visby in Gotland, Sweden. The scholarship includes the use of the studio cottage, and a stipend of 50 000 SEK (approx. $7,500 CAD), which covers travel expenses from Canada – Gotland (return). The scholar also has the option to extend their stay until October 1. Upon leaving the island, the artist is requested to donate an artwork made during their summer residency with the Canadian Collection at the Brucebo museum.
The William Blair Bruce Travel Scholarship provides 30.000 SEK (approx. $4,500 CAD) for a European research sejourn, to be undertaken within the next year. The tour is based on an approved Fine Art related research project. As a final part of the ‘travel scholarship’ the recipient must visit Visby via Stockholm. While in Visby, she/he will give a public lecture sponsored by the Foundation on the investigative theme pursued during her/his recent European travel.

Atelier Topaz – résidence Opasatika, Ontario, Canada
Le lieu
Situés au cœur de la forêt boréale, les Ateliers Topaz sont à la fois un lieu de retraite et un centre de création pour artistes, toutes disciplines confondues. L’endroit parfait pour la réflexion, l’évasion. Le groupement d’édifices fait 900 mètres carrés et repose sur 14 hectares face à la route Transcanadienne. Il donne sur un étang de deux hectares. Topaz c’est la « Route 66 » dans le nord de l’Ontario. L’endroit, modeste et nostalgique, rappelle aussi les grandes épopées de la colonisation francophone de l’Ontario. Ces studios de création ou cette résidence d’artistes, endroit idéal pour les arts visuels, sont situés au centre du Canada, à mi-chemin entre l’Atlantique et le Pacifique, là où les étoiles deviennent les topazes de la nuit.
Ce qu’on offre
D’abord l’espace et, l’espace de travail déterminés selon les besoins de l’artiste. Les espaces polyvalents permettent d’y faire de la peinture, de la sculpture, de l’installation, etc. L’atelier de menuiserie, le Bar à clou, est équipé des outils de base. Un magasin d’objets trouvés est disponible autant pour l’inspiration que pour l’utilisation dans une œuvre. Le peintre apporte ses pinceaux, le musicien son instrument et l’écrivain son ordi.
Les personnes qui séjournent aux Ateliers Topaz jouissent de l’accès à la cuisine et sont responsables de préparer leurs repas. Toutefois Laurent peut aussi leur cuisiner de petits plats typiquement canadiens-français aux besoins ou aux désirs. Topaz possède deux suites avec lit double et une chambre avec lit simple. Chacune possède sa salle de toilette avec douche. Ces installations évoquent admirablement le style des années 1960. Pour la baignade, le Lac des Cœurs se situe à deux kilomètres à l’est. Pour le canotage ou la pèche, la rivière Opasatika est deux kilomètres à l’ouest. Pour se déplacer, il y a de vieux vélos ou la marche. Pour un frais très raisonnable, votre hôte peut aussi vous conduire ou organiser un déplacement vers Kapuskasing à l’est ou vers Hearst à l’ouest. Les matériaux d’artistes ne sont pas disponibles dans la région. Il est donc important de faire vos achats avant votre séjour, à moins que vous travailliez avec des matériaux que l’on peut se procurer dans des magasins ordinaires ou même en nature.

The Wilson Street Public Art Project
Request for Pre-Qualifications (RFPQ)
The City of Guelph invites artists and artist teams with established public art experience to submit their credentials, examples of prior experience and a preliminary vision for the development and execution of a site-specific, permanent, outdoor art installation as part of the Wilson Street Reconstruction project.
This is a two-stage competition. The first stage is a Request for Pre-Qualifications (RFPQ). Design concepts are not required at this time.
Following the Selection Committee’s review of the submitting artists’ qualifications, three artists will be short-listed and invited to develop their concept proposals and present them to the Selection Committee for consideration. An honorarium of $1500 will be awarded to short-listed artists.
Budget: $90,000 CAD

National Call for Artists – Public Art Project – Canmore, Alberta
The Town of Canmore is seeking Expressions of Interest (i.e. Request for Qualifications) from mid-career and senior professional artists to create a permanent work of art that will reflect and celebrate the community. The project is held in accordance with the Town of Canmore Public Art Policy. Artist Residency – February 15 to April 5, 2018
Shortlisted artists are required to participate in a 2-4 day residency to gain familiarity with Canmore, the site, local history, culture and stories. Artists will meet and interact with members of the community. The residency will provide some context from which artists will develop their detailed proposals. Costs associated with the residency including transportation, accommodation, and per diem ($75 per day) will be reimbursed to the artists upon submission and approval of receipts up to $2000.
Artists will receive a $2000 maquette fee to produce their art proposal.
Selection Committee will select one (1) artist based on final artwork proposal and maquette.
About the Potential Sites
In the second stage of this competition, all shortlisted finalists will be asked to design an artwork for one of the three sites listed below. This allows the finalists to select a site that resonates with them and complements their work.
Courtyard in front of 907 7 Avenue
In the Civic Centre Plaza, a popular location for events including National Indigenous Peoples Day, World Cup Opening Ceremonies and Medal Presentations, Winter Carnival activities and markets, this site is on the west side of 7 Avenue across from the Town offices.
Fairholme Drive at the Spur Line Trail
This location is at the intersection of a popular walking and cycling trail that leads to the Bow River. It is adjacent to the Canmore Seniors’ Lodge; is one of Canmore’s main arteries; and is the site for the Canmore Canada Day Parade.
South of Elevation Place on Railway Avenue
At the gateway to downtown Canmore and sharing the site with Elevation Place, Canmore’s indoor playground, this location experiences slow moving, high vehicle traffic. It is also on a cycling/walking path allowing for pedestrian interaction.
Community Engagement
The community should be engaged in the public art process through design, creation and/or installation in a meaningful way.

Round Street Gateway Public Art Project
Project Intent
The City of Lethbridge Art Committee is seeking an Artist to design and fabricate a sculpture to be installed in a prominent Downtown Lethbridge gateway located at the NW corner of 5th Street (Round Street) and 6th Avenue South. The intent of the project is to provide a permanent piece of public art that creates a welcoming, appealing entrance to the Downtown and celebrates the presence of the Lethbridge Multicultural Centre, home of the Southern Alberta Ethnic Association. The highly visible Round Street location is a special gateway into the Downtown. Through a combination of public art and comprehensive landscaping, it is the intention to create an entry experience that reflects the unique environment, history and culture of the Downtown.
Background
Hard and soft landscaping components of the Round Street Gateway Plaza as well as required pedestrian and vehicular transportation functions were completed in 2016 in conjunction with the transformation of an obsolete Fire Station into the Lethbridge Multi-cultural Centre. The Southern Alberta Ethnic Association is the major, long-term tenant of the space and proponents should take that into consideration in the creation of the artwork.
A 10 foot X 10 foot square, which is situated approximately in the middle of the plaza has been allocated for the artwork. Although the space is somewhat constrained, due to the need to adhere to traffic safety precautions, an opening, that has been temporarily filled with removable brick pavers, has been created for the artwork. The project installation must be wholly contained within this space and should be designed in a manner that is conducive to public safety at this busy vehicle and pedestrian location.
Budget
All-inclusive budget for the Round Street Project is $75,000 plus GST.

The competition is open to qualified Canadian professional visual artists as defined by the Canada Council for the Arts.

TORONTO SCULPTURE GARDEN

Since opening in 1981, The Toronto Sculpture Garden (TSG) commissioned temporary artworks by over 80 artists, in a small City of Toronto park opposite St. James Cathedral on King Street east. Until 2014, it was operated as a partnership between the City of Toronto and the Louis L. Odette Family, benefactors who created the non-profit L.L.O. Sculpture Garden Foundation which funded and administered the exhibitions. Under the direction of Rina Greer, the TSG provided artists with the opportunity to work experimentally in public space, explore issues of scale and materials, and engage with the local community as well as visitors to the neighbourhood. For some, the expansion of their practice beyond the studio led to major public artworks elsewhere.
In 2018, the City of Toronto’s Arts & Culture Services intends to continue the legacy of excellence in the TSG with two new commissions. We are currently inviting proposals from artists for installations in May and October.
Proposals for both 2018 exhibitions will be selected by the TSG Selection Panel, which will meet in February 2018. Preference will be given to new work that responds to the site; only in exceptional cases will existing work be considered.
Budget: $30,000.00 CAD (+HST), which includes all artists’ fees, materials, installation and removal, transportation, insurance, and permits.

This project is being implemented by StreetARToronto (StART), part of the Public Realm Section of the City of Toronto’s Transportation Services Division.
The goal of this Expression of Interest (EOI) is to obtain a roster of artists who will be eligible to participate in StART UP projects.
Background:
This EOI for the 2018 StART UP Artist Roster is part of a comprehensive program to enhance and transform selected City underpasses with new and enhanced lighting, improved sidewalks and walking conditions, pigeon proofing, removal of weeds and the installation of mural or street art. This call pertains to the mural component of the program only. Qualified artists will be selected to be part of the StART UP Artist Roster, and the commission for each underpass mural will be awarded following a two-stage selection process outlined in the REOI (see link below). Artists are eligible to receive one StART UP commission every other calendar year.

Appel à candidatures pour le programme de bourses de recherche de l’Institut canadien de la photographie pour l’année 2018
L’Institut canadien de la photographie du Musée des beaux-arts du Canada renouvelle cette année son appel à candidatures visant à soutenir la recherche savante sur l’histoire et la critique de la photographie. Le programme s’adresse aux spécialistes de la photographie – historiens, conservateurs, et chercheurs indépendants – et autres professionnels du domaine des arts visuels et de la muséologie, et de disciplines connexes en sciences sociales œuvrant au Canada et ailleurs dans le monde. Les personnes intéressées ont jusqu’au 31 mars 2018 pour soumettre leur candidature.
« Les chercheurs lauréats des bourses 2017 ont révisé plusieurs pans de la collection et nous attendons avec enthousiasme les propositions 2018 », a souligné la directrice de l’Institut canadien de la photographie, Luce Lebart. « Cette année, seront considérées en priorité, les recherches en rapport avec la collection sur les origines de la photographie et celles de l’Office national du film et du Musée canadien de la photographie contemporaine. De même une attention spéciale sera apportée aux sujets relatifs aux commandes et missions photographiques ».
Le programme de bourses comporte une résidence à plein temps au Musée des beaux-arts du Canada, à Ottawa. Les candidats retenus seront aidés par les équipes du Musée et auront accès à ses infrastructures. Le montant maximal des bourses s’élève à 10 000 $ CA chacune, dépenses et allocations comprises.
Chaque projet sera évalué par un comité de sélection constitué de spécialistes en fonction d’un ensemble de critères parmi lesquels, l’originalité, les objectifs, la faisabilité de la proposition et les contributions potentielles au domaine de la photographie. Les propositions retenues devront également favoriser un accès accru aux collections de l’Institut tout en démontrant leur pertinence pour la communauté de chercheurs.

GUIDELINES FOR APPLICATION
Nuit Blanche Winnipeg is pleased to announce our inaugural Call for Curatorial Proposals for a major site for Nuit Blanche Winnipeg – Saturday, September 29, 2018.
Nuit Blanche Winnipeg invites proposals from Canadian curators for one to three site-specific artist projects that will activate Old Market Square in the heart of Winnipeg’s Exchange District for Nuit Blanche Winnipeg 2018. Proposals should indicate the artists they intend to work with and submit preliminary plans for the artworks. The artworks should be thoughtful, dynamic, accessible to the thousands of people participating in this free public event, and should utilize visual elements that activate outdoor spaces in the night.
The total budget is $25,000 and must cover all costs of designing, commissioning and installing the Nuit Blanche Winnipeg artwork(s) including but not limited to: curatorial fees, artist fees, taxes, travel, materials, fabrication and installation, insurance and deinstallation/site restoration. A contingency line is recommended. The selected curator will collaborate with the Nuit Blanche Winnipeg team on all aspects of the installation process.
These works will be the “featured pieces” of the night.
ABOUT NUIT BLANCHE WINNIPEG (NBW)
Nuit Blanche Winnipeg is a free, all-night contemporary art celebration that attracts thousands of people to three urban zones, Downtown, the Exchange District and St. Boniface. Every year, individual artists, galleries, cultural organizations and independent curators open their doors, patios, rooftops and parks, and stay open late for one special night, offering a unique array of exhibitions, installations and performances. In addition to the independent community projects we hold several juried calls for works.
The first NBW took place on Saturday, September 26, 2010, and several thousand-people interacted with and explored the over 35 events. In 2017 we saw well over 20,000 attendees exploring the 115 art events and the community.
This Call for Curatorial Proposals is generously sponsored by the Winnipeg Arts Council, Nuit Blanche Winnipeg’s Producing Partner. Culture Days Manitoba is the non-profit organization that runs Nuit Blanche Winnipeg.

ABOUT THE SITE
Old Market Square
Many outdoor sites are activated during Nuit Blanche Winnipeg with Old Market Square and the surrounding areas being one of the most popular. Situated in the historic Exchange District, Old Market Square is in the center of a large number of the events of the night. At least one of the proposed projects must be located in Old Market Square. Foot traffic in Old Market Square is expected to be between 10,000 and 20,000 people. For more information:

ELIGIBILITY AND CRITERIA
Curators must have experience developing and installing artists’ projects, and the proposal should have a strong conceptual foundation. Nuit Blanche Winnipeg offers an opportunity to bring contemporary art to a wide audience, to activate our public places at night and to celebrate the unique spaces of Winnipeg. The artistic merit of the proposal will be the key criteria in selecting the curator but the following points are critical:
- The curator and artists must be residents of Canada.
- The proposed project(s) must be free to all and must be open between 6pm and 4am on Saturday September 29, 2018. The project must happen rain or shine.
- The proposed project(s) must be of a significant scale and utilize visual elements that activate outdoor spaces at night.
- At least one of the proposed projects must be located in Winnipeg’s Old Market Square.
- The project(s) must be unique, and offer “entry points” for a wide audience.
- The project(s) must have the potential to enhance the programming of Nuit Blanche Winnipeg.
- The project(s) must be suitable for all ages and accessible to people of all physical abilities.
- The project(s) must be feasible from budgetary, logistical and safety perspectives.
The proposed work does not need to be new and can have been presented before. We would prefer that the work has not been presented in Winnipeg already.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
To apply, curators must fill out the submission form by March 11, 2018 (11:59pm CST), that includes:
- A curatorial statement and foundational concept for the proposal as a whole.
- Description of the proposed artist project(s) (1000 words max total).
- CVs for all participating artists and curators.
- Short bios (max 1 page each) for the curator(s) and artist(s) describing their work and any other relevant information can also be submitted.
- $25,000 budget that includes all costs relating to the conception, design, development, fabrication and installation, insurance and deinstallation/site restoration and including all artist and curatorial fees and taxes as well as all travel, per diem and accommodation costs required.
- Timeline for project development, fabrication and installation (note: Nuit Blanche Winnipeg will assist with some installation details).
- Up to 20 images (or combination of video and images) representing your body of curatorial work and the work of the artists you are proposing.
SUBMISSION AND NOTIFICATION
The complete proposal package must be submitted via the online submission form on or before 11:59pm CST on Sunday, March 11, 2018. All applications will be reviewed by a peer jury organized by Nuit Blanche Winnipeg and will include practicing artists and arts professionals, curators, and production personnel. It is our goal to notify the selected curator by Friday, April 20, 2018.

2018 MIDDLEBROOK PRIZE for YOUNG CANADIAN CURATORS
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Founded in 2012, the Middlebrook Prize is awarded annually to an emerging Canadian curator who is under 30 with the aim to foster social innovation and curatorial excellence in Canada. Hosted and administered by the Art Gallery of Guelph, the winner is selected by a jury of arts leaders and receives a $5,000 honorarium, an exhibition at Art Gallery of Guelph, and mentorship from the curatorial team at AGG and jury members.
The 2018 Middlebrook Prize jury is composed of SRIMOYEE MITRA (Director of Stamps Gallery, Stamps School of Art and Design, Ann Arbor, Michigan), LISA STEELE (Artistic Director of VTape and Professor, University of Toronto John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design) and ANDREW HUNTER (Senior Curator, Art Gallery of Guelph).
Submissions will be accepted until February 15, 2018, at 5 pm. The winner will be announced in early March 2018 and the exhibition will be presented from September to December 2018 at the Art Gallery of Guelph. Proposals should emphasize contemporary Canadian art with attention to audience, community and public.
Applications must include:
letter of introduction: applicants should articulate their curatorial values and philosophy and what the Middlebrook Prize means to them as a career building opportunity
exhibition proposal (one page): proposal must include contact information, curatorial statement, list of artists, and description of outreach programming
exhibition budget: not exceeding $10,000 and including artist fees (per CARFAC fee schedule for Category II institutions), shipping via an accredited art transportation company, any special equipment requirements for the exhibition, a description of unique or unusual installation requirements, projected travel/accommodation expenses for curator
one sample of critical writing: curatorial essay or published article/review, for example
curriculum vitae: current, maximum 3 pages
support images (10): with descriptions (artist name, title, date, medium, dimensions) inclusive of 5 images supporting exhibition proposal and 5 images documenting past curatorial work
floor plan: detailing the proposed layout of works (for floor plan, see submission guidelines here)
Notes:
The award winner must be under 30 years of age by December 31, 2018 and is required to demonstrate proof of age on signing of the exhibition contract
The Prize is open to Canadian citizens, as well as non-Canadians currently living and working in Canada
If the Prize is awarded to a non-Canadian curator, they must be resident in Canada for the full term of the Prize (March through December 2018)

À propos d’ENE
Est-Nord-Est (ENE) est un centre d’artistes autogéré dont le mandat est de soutenir une communauté internationale d’artistes et d’auteur·e·s en art actuel en offrant un espace et du temps pour la recherche et l’expérimentation, ainsi qu’un accès privilégié à des ressources et des savoir-faire locaux.
Le centre est situé à Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, un village sur la rive sud du fleuve Saint-Laurent, dans un cadre géographique et historique unique. Les paysages sont caractérisés par la forte présence de l’agriculture, de la forêt et des voies fluviales. Saint-Jean-Port-Joli est situé à 115 km de Québec et à 350 km de Montréal.
Fondé à l’origine sur la rencontre entre les pratiques contemporaines de la sculpture et celles qui relèvent d’un savoir-faire traditionnel régional, ENE est aujourd’hui ouvert à toutes les disciplines et pratiques en arts visuels actuels. Convaincu de l’importance de l’alliage entre les œuvres et les mots, ENE encourage la pratique de l’écrit en art actuel en offrant une résidence aux auteur·e·s canadien·ne·s. Les espaces de travail et d’hébergement étant communs à tous·tes les résident·e·s, les auteur·e·s peuvent s’imprégner de l’art en train de se faire. Ces séjours offrent aux résident·e·s l’occasion d’approfondir leurs recherches, d’expérimenter et de créer dans un espace culturel unique, vivant et stimulant. ENE fait partie du réseau Res Artis et du Regroupement des centres d’artistes autogérés du Québec.
Les résidences à ENE
Les périodes de résidence offertes au printemps, à l’été et à l’automne permettent généralement de réunir quatre artistes et un·e auteur·e en art actuel. Or, ENE entreprendra en 2018 son grand projet d’immobilisation dans le cadre duquel ses quartiers seront entièrement reconstruits. ENE adopte donc exceptionnellement cette année un lieu temporaire qui permettra aux résident·e·s d’avoir accès à un atelier partagé à même le lieu d’hébergement. Par conséquent, seulement deux artistes et un·e auteur·e seront sélectionné·e·s pour chaque période de résidence de huit semaines. Pour la première fois cette année, l’auteur·e pourra choisir une résidence de quatre ou de huit semaines.
En 2018, ENE vit un moment charnière de son histoire : la déconstruction et la reconstruction intégrale des locaux du centre à même son site actuel. Pour souligner cette année de changement, la programmation 2018, tout en demeurant ouverte aux recherches de tous horizons, encourage particulièrement les pratiques d’écriture qui, en lien avec les arts actuels, s’intéressent aux enjeux de la mémoire, de l’archive, de la transmission, de l’oubli ; celles qui abordent les notions de géographie, d’environnement, d’écologie ; celles qui travaillent à partir des idées d’architecture, de renouvèlement, de transformation ; celles qui développent un discours sur les pratiques artistiques ayant pour approche l’étude des lieux environnants ou l’intervention sur le territoire.

Regart, centre d’artistes en art actuel
Implanté à Lévis, Regart, centre d’artistes en art actuel assure, depuis 1986, une présence dynamique des arts visuels actuels auprès des publics des territoires de Chaudière-Appalaches et de Québec.
Présentée en galerie, en vitrine et dans l’espace public, la programmation de Regart met en lumière des productions qui relèvent de l’hybridation et de l’expérimentation, où la qualité artistique et le discours théorique sont valorisés. En favorisant les projets novateurs, la recherche et les échanges, le centre a pour but d’être un espace ouvert, un champ des possibles où le dialogue avec les artistes et la médiation avec les publics sont fondamentaux.
Orientation artistique 2018-2019
COLLABORATION
Le centre d’artistes en art actuel Regart privilégie depuis deux ans des programmations dédiées aux expositions collectives et à la diversité dans le centre d’artistes : l’objectif étant d’ouvrir un espace de dialogue et de réflexion entre l’artiste et le centre.
La programmation 2018-2019 du centre demeurera en lien avec cette direction artistique.
Elle visera à principalement soutenir des approches collaboratives et des formes hybrides, où sont conciliées orientations et sensibilités de plusieurs domaines ou modes d’expression; où sont interrogées des limites; où sont proposées des méthodologies novatrices; où « l’Autre » sert d’inspiration, par le dialogue, par l’observation; où est affirmée la pluralité des réalités transversales de notre monde.
Regart invite ainsi les artistes et commissaires misant sur la pensée collaborative pour mettre en mouvement leurs pratiques, leurs réflexions et leurs méthodologies à soumettre un dossier pour sa programmation 2018-2019.
Le centre invite à soumettre des propositions mettant en exergue des arbitrages de forces, de motifs ou de concepts qui surprennent; se démarquant dans le paysage culturel par leurs points de départ; avançant de nouveaux modèles quant aux rapports « gens – espaces – choses ».
