• (maximum de 1 page);
15 images JPG (maximum de 1 Mo par image);
• une liste détaillée du visuel soumis, incluant nom de l’artiste, titre de l’œuvre, année de réalisation, médiums et dimensions;
les curriculum vitae (maximum de 2 pages par artiste);

Projects Class 2010

University of Toronto Art Centre

Curated by Ginger Scott and Joanna Sheridan
August 31 – November 6, 2010

Projects Class 2010 is a series of art-making events, workshops, and
performances that re-enact the structure of David Askevold’s Projects Class
that began in 1969 at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Halifax.
As well as being a unique moment in Canadian art education, the Class was
at the epicentre of the conceptual art heyday at the small Nova Scotia
university. Askevold’s class built an international reputation by
attracting conceptual artists including Sol LeWitt, Joseph Beuys, Robert
Barry, Lawrence Weiner, and Lucy Lippard, who submitted instruction-based
projects for students to perform and create.

Running parallel to UTAC’s portion of the multi-site exhibition Traffic:
Conceptualism in Canada c. 1965 to 1980, Projects Class 2010 invites
artists working in MFA, MVS, MA, and PhD programs to submit instructional
artworks for undergraduate and post secondary visual arts students to
realize. We will accept submissions that operate as extensions of the
artworks completed in Askevold’s historic class or new works that operate
within the same conceptualist spirit.

The full set of 1969 projects can be viewed at:
http://www.ccca.ca/resources/searches/event_detail.html?languagePref=en&vk=7539.

Instructions for artworks must be considerate of time (occurring in a

participating class sizes being no more than 20 students at any given time.

In the Prize’s search for excellence, photographers are encouraged to interpret ‘portrait’ in its widest sense of ‘photography concerned with portraying people with an emphasis on their identity as individuals.’

The prize winners and exhibition will be selected by a distinguished judging panel. The winner of the competition will receive £12,000. In addition the judges, at their discretion, will award one or more cash prizes to the shortlisted photographers.

This year, we have introduced a new entry process. Entry forms will NOT now be accepted on the day when you deliver your prints. All entry forms must be received in advance, either online or by post, by the 18 July 2010. Please carefully read the How to Enter page before submitting your application

CALL FOR ENTRIES: METAMATIC RESEARCH INITIATIVE

DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 1, 2010, 6PM

As part of our efforts to stimulate artistic research, we are inviting proposals for six commissioned works of art. We invite artists from all disciplines to submit proposals. The works of art should question and explore the relationship between the maker, the viewer and the status of the art object. The starting point for this research is the artistic legacy of Jean Tinguely’s Métamatics, a series of sculptural machines capable of producing works of art.

An international jury of experts will make a selection from the proposals after the deadline on 1 September 2010. The six successful applicants will receive a commission to execute their proposals.

To be part of this extraordinary initiative, do the following:

* Read the Brochure
* Gather the required material for your application, including the Application Form
* Upload your entry to our server
Entries should be submitted before 1 June 2010, by uploading them to our server. Follow the link below to gain access to our server. Go to server

The Métamatic Research Initiative’s aim is to promote research on the topic of authorship and authenticity in artistic processes whereby both viewers and objects play a decisive role in the creation of the work. At the same time the Initiative strives to promote research that places Tinguely within his historical and the contemporary context.

The Métamatic Research Initiative plans to develop a wide range of activities to achieve its aims, both in artistic and academic fields. The goal is to produce a number of seminal works of art and groundbreaking academic research, both dealing with the issue of authorship, as well as the role of the object and of the viewer in contemporary art. We hope that this will ultimately lead to a better understanding of the importance of the Métamatic works, and bring about a lively exchange on the topic of authorship and artistic authenticity.

New options and opportunities for exhibiting at turn-berlin Gallery
turn-berlin is an artist funded space, with a large gallery in the middle of the biggest concentration of art in Europe.
We are working to find the most effective ways of progressing an artists name and reputation. By introducing a more integrated approach we can be more effective and develop wider opportunities.
The intense experience of showing work in a gallery is the best way to have work seen. To get the most from  exhibiting which can be a relatively short event, to include it as part of a comprehensive package gives more considered exposure.
Developing a name is the only way forward, it takes time and a lot of determination. This is why many artists are finding new ways of being seen. If you don’t exhibit you are only doing half of the job, but taking a positive approach to exhibiting should include other forms.
We are now big enough to be a representational gallery offering a full promotional package.
More information on turn-berlin’s long term approach to developing artists is on the following link.

New Residency Program at 3331 Arts Chiyoda, Tokoyo
3331 Artist and Curator Residence
Deadline: 18th June 2010
3331 Arts Chiyoda is launching a new residency program open to artists, curators and creative practitioners internationally.
With a full range of facilities including accommodation, studio and gallery, creative practitioners have the exceptional opportunity to extend their artistic engagement in the heart of Tokyo. Not only will artists be able to pursue their own individual research and practice, but they will be connected to the extensive network of Tokyo’s art scene through the hub that is 3331.
With the energy of the electronics and anime haven of Akihabara right at one’s doorstep and the traditional cultures of downtown but a stone’s throw away artists will be able to experience all aspects of this kaleidoscopic city from this convenient base. Artists are not only able to spend time in Tokyo, but are able to create work onsite and then finally exhibit what they have developed during their stay, in the distinct setting of 3331 Arts Chiyoda.
We are pleased to be able to offer these facilities to artists who can contribute to the diverse creative expressions of this cosmopolitan metropolis and engage its inhabitants in new ways.
We particularly encourage applications from galleries, museums, universities, arts organizations and funding bodies who are able to recommend and support a number of artists to join this program. We also welcome approaches from artists who are able to secure their own sources of funding. We recommend that artists consider applying in groups of 2-5 in order to reduce the financial responsibility of the individual.
Please note that 3331 is unable to offer financial support to artists in residence in this program.
The facilities are ideal to be shared between a group of 3 artists, and can accommodate a maximum of 5 artists if so required. The overall fee for accommodation and other facilities is set and is not affected by the number of people in residence.
We are now calling for applications for this residence program.
