L’Association des groupes en arts visuels francophones (AGAVF) présente les événements de ses quinze centres d’artistes et galeries membres à travers le pays et compile les appels de dossiers en arts visuels, arts médiatiques, performance, art public qui s’adressent principalement aux artistes et parfois aux commissaires.

Résidences d’artistes (date de tombée : 15 mars)

Pour les artistes œuvrant en photographie ou ceux qui souhaitent expérimenter avec le médium, VU offre des résidences de création. VU privilégie les propositions de projets qui pourront bénéficier des installations du centre, et encourage les projets d’expérimentation – que ce soit par la prise de vue, des réflexions sur le médium, ou pour s’investir dans de nouvelles pistes de recherche. Il est possible qu’une résidence mène éventuellement à une diffusion (exposition, publication, conférence…).

Le centre offre un soutien artistique et technique aux artistes sélectionnés pour une résidence. Selon les spécifications des projets sélectionnés, le centre alloue aux artistes une période d’accès aux équipements, offre l’hébergement ainsi qu’un crédit de production. Les espaces de production sont dotés d’équipements complets dont des numériseurs, des imprimantes jet d’encre grand format et des chambres noires. Le soutien technique est assuré par une équipe de professionnels. Les résidences offertes par VU sont en général d’environ 10 jours.

Impulse – Pan-Canadian Media Arts Summit
L’Alliance des arts médiatiques indépendants (AAMI) présentera du 31 mai au 4 juin prochain, le Grand sommet pancanadien sur les arts médiatiques. Intitulé Impulsion/Impulse, ce vaste événement rassembleur comportera tables rondes, débats, conférences, réseautage et présentation d’œuvres.

À cette occasion, une soirée de type « Pecha Kucha » sera présentée afin de mettre en valeur des initiatives signifiantes ayant eu lieu à travers les différentes régions du pays au cours des deux dernières années. Ainsi, au moyen de micro-conférences, accompagnés d’images, de vidéos ou d’extraits sonores, des présentateurs de chacune des six régions offriront un tour d’horizon de projets porteurs en arts médiatiques canadiens.

Afin de favoriser une meilleure représentativité pour la soirée, la communauté des arts médiatiques dans son ensemble est invitée à soumettre leurs projets tels qu’initiatives particulières, artistes importants, projets novateurs, etc. destinés à être présentés lors de cette soirée.

Type de présentations recherchées :

L’objectif est de faire la découverte de projets artistiques inspirants dans un cadre informel et festif. Ainsi, les présentations soumises peuvent mettre en valeur une ou des expositions diffusées dans leur région, des collectifs et leur travail, des projets d’arts publics, des activités de médiation culturelle, etc. Le travail et la démarche d’un artiste en particulier peuvent également faire l’objet d’une présentation.

Une sélection sera effectuée, et les meilleures idées seront présentées par un représentant de chaque région lors de la soirée. Les présentations sélectionnées devront inclure une description du projet incluant les informations pertinentes pour présenter adéquatement le projet en moins de 5 minutes, ainsi que 10 fichiers visuels ou sonores (photos, vidéos d’une durée de 20 secondes, ou fichier audio d’une durée de 20 secondes). Toutefois, pour l’étape de sélection, une courte description du projet proposé, ainsi que 3 fichiers visuels ou sonores seront suffisants.

Le comité de sélection portera une attention particulière afin de représenter toutes les formes d’arts médiatiques (art sonore, cinéma, installations, etc.).

Appel de propositions : Saison d’exposition 2017 de la Galerie Karsh-Masson

Dans le cadre des célébrations entourant le 150^e anniversaire du Canada, en 2017, le Programme d’art public de la Ville d’Ottawa tiendra une saison d’exposition thématique spéciale et étudiera en priorité les propositions des demandeurs inuits, métis et issus des Premières nations.

Ainsi, pour souligner ce jalon important, la Ville invite les artistes professionnels, les collectifs d’artistes et les commissaires d’exposition du domaine des arts visuels, des arts médiatiques et des métiers d’art à soumettre une proposition d’exposition en lien avec le thème général de la cartographie. Les propositions reçues seront soumises à un comité d’évaluation par les pairs et celles qui seront retenues seront présentées à la Galerie Karsh-Masson en 2017.

La cartographie englobe les façons de connaître, de structurer et de présenter le monde et la place que nous occupons dans celui-ci et par rapport aux autres. Elle nous aide à tracer notre passé et notre avenir. Au-delà du sens premier du terme, la cartographie désigne aussi des réalités biologiques, psychologiques et numériques, entre autres. Elle peut être physique, culturelle et affective. Tout comme l’art, la cartographie est un processus en perpétuelle transformation.

Le Studio XX célèbre son vingtième anniversaire en avril 2016. Afin de rendre hommage à ces deux décennies, nous sommes à la recherche de propositions pour notre programmation 2016-2017 qui graviteront autour d’un thème central : l’espace public.

Par espace public, nous entendons “un éventail de lieux sociaux” offerts par les espaces géographiques actuels ainsi que par les espaces électroniques. En d’autres termes, notre compréhension de l’espace public inclut “la tension palpable entre le lieu, vécu à différentes échelles dans la vie quotidienne, et la spatialité apparente d’Internet, l’opinion publique, les institutions internationales et l’économie” (Low et Smith). En partant de l’idée que les espaces publics sont loin d’être homogènes et qu’ils sont également ouverts à tous les corps et aux pratiques inconstantes, nous cherchons des propositions qui se réapproprient des utilisations créatives de l’espace public : en ligne et hors ligne.

Cette emphase sur l’espace public s’inspire d’une multiplicité d’événements et de mouvements à travers le monde, en particulier les protestations à propos des femmes autochtones disparues et assassinées au Canada, les soulèvements de 2014 en Amérique du Nord pour manifester contre la brutalité policière envers les personnes de couleur, ainsi que la législation et la fermeture de l’espace public au nom des politiques de sécurité publique qui ont suivi des événements comme ceux du 11 Septembre 2001 et la peur généralisée du terrorisme dans le soi-disant Occident. Ces faits et événements peuvent (mais ne sont pas obligés) fournir de cadre sur la façon dont le féminisme, l’activisme et la société civile répondent à l’infraction, la violation, et la corruption de l’espace public.

Dans notre exploration de l’espace public, une inspiration centrale concerne l’héritage d’artistes et de chercheur-e-s féministes qui ont défié les structures sociales de l’inégalité basées sur des constructions telles que le genre, la spécificité géographique, la race et la sexualité. À partir de l’idée fondamentale selon laquelle les perspectives féministes peuvent façonner l’espace public, nous invitons les artistes et les personnes créatives à explorer comment les arts médiatiques, animés par des perspectives féministes, peuvent prendre l’espace public en ligne et hors ligne ?

Nous recherchons des propositions qui explorent la façon dont nous utilisons l’espace public, comment nos corps se déplacent et occupent des espaces où nous nous sentons bienvenu-e-s ou non, en sécurité ou non. Le thème susmentionné peut inclure plusieurs définitions de l’espace public, s’adressant à la fois au monde littéral, tangible et/ou à celui du cyber insaisissable (dans de nombreux cas, nous recherchons des propositions qui se situent entre les deux !).
CE QUE NOUS CHERCHONS

Le Studio XX recherche des projets artistiques en arts numériques créatifs, critiques, drôles et poétiques pour ses événements de diffusion et/ou pour ses ateliers qui engagent les personnes de manière créative autour de débats sur l’espace public. Nous sommes à la recherche de propositions inspirées par (mais sans s’y limiter) : le féminisme, les études critiques de la race, le cyberféminisme, l’incapacité et les études queer. Nous croyons que les pratiques et les méthodologies féministes peuvent continuer à faire la lumière sur les activations inégales de l’espace public.

Le Studio XX recherche des propositions d’artistes s’identifiant comme femmes, trans et dissident-e-s, de commissaires, d’activistes, de collectifs et d’organismes communautaires.

Exemples de médias / formats : net art, art électronique et audio, oeuvre interactive, art radiophonique, art vidéo, installation, médias géolocalisés, animation 3D, l’art du jeu vidéo, la réalité augmentée, oeuvre numérique à trame narrative, court métrage, bio art, interventions publiques, pratiques du libre et ancrées dans la communauté, performances et pratiques interdisciplinaires, ateliers, discussions et tables rondes – ou quelque chose de tellement audacieux que nous n’en avons même pas encore entendu parler…

Appel à projets Praxis Art Actuel

Laboratoire-résidence Bloc 11 – en 2017

 Praxis Art Actuel est un centre d’artistes autogérés qui offre un contexte particulier et original de

laboratoires-résidences mettant l’accent sur la recherche et l’expérimentation en art actuel. Une partie de la programmation du centre s’articule autour de « Blocs », composés de trois artistes appelés à expérimenter, individuellement, sur une période d’environ 5 mois. En ce moment, Praxis Art Actuel lance son appel de dossiers pour la programmation du Bloc 11. Ce Bloc se tiendra du printemps à l’automne 2017.

Nous invitons les artistes professionnels à proposer des projets innovants qui s’éloignent du cadre habituel d’exposition, s’infiltrent dans l’espace public et s’inspirent des caractéristiques du lieu dans lequel ils se retrouvent afin de le questionner, de l’interpréter, de le modeler et de le transformer. Les projets peuvent toucher à la fois à des particularités et des caractéristiques géographiques, sociales, économiques ou culturelles de la Ville de Sainte-Thérèse ou de la région des Laurentides. Praxis Art Actuel s’intéresse aux processus de création axés sur le travail in situ ou in socius, en lien avec des groupes (individus, étudiants, travailleurs, commerçants…), des organismes, des espaces, des lieux ou des territoires considérés dans leur spécificité.

Votre dossier doit être entièrement transmis par voie électronique (ex : DropSend, Dropbox, YouSendIt…). Nous n’acceptons pas les hyperliens conduisant à des sites internet.

Cahier Folie/Culture nº 11

Québec, le 8 février 2016 – Folie/Culture est à la recherche de collaborateurs et collaboratrices intéressés à soumettre des textes et des créations visuelles pour son 11^e numéro du Cahier Folie/Culture, qui porte sur la thématique de La normalité ostentatoire.

Avec ce nouveau Cahier, Folie/Culture propose d’ouvrir une brèche dans la normalité. Puisque la normalité est par définition drabe, comment la rendre ostentatoire ? Il s’agit de porter un regard sur les formes inouïes comme sur les choses banales et usuelles, bref, de rendre ostentatoire ce qui, par ailleurs, est reclus et sans éclat. Il n’y a plus rien dans le placard !

Rappelons que les Cahiers Folie/Culture sont des objets d’édition audacieux à périodicité aléatoire. Se rapprochant du livre d’artiste, leur forme se démarque par son originalité toujours en rapport avec la thématique abordée. Publications surprenantes, ces Cahiers se donnent à regarder, à toucher, à soupeser, à lire et aussi à entendre…
Contraintes formelles :

• Les œuvres plastiques originales devront être bidimensionnelles, dimensions 8 ½ x 11 pouces (bleed), format JPG ou TIF, résolution minimale 300 dpi.
• Les textes originaux ne pourront excéder deux feuillets et devront être en format Word si envoyés par Internet.

Symposium de sculpture de la Ville de Sept-Îles 2016 / Panache art actuel

PANACHE art actuel est mandaté pour inviter les artistes professionnels à soumettre un projet pour le Symposium de sculpture de la Ville de Sept-Îles, qui se déroulera pendant 10 jours, soit du 12 au 21 août 2016 sur le thème : Art et industrie. Les artistes qui souhaitent présenter un projet en sculpture monumentale ou en installation insitu, accompagné ou non d’un projet de performance(s)/animation(s), doivent faire parvenir leur proposition avant le 1er avril 2016.

L’objectif premier du Symposium de sculpture de la Ville de Sept-Îles 2016 est de démystifier lapratique de la sculpture et de favoriser les échanges entre les artistes professionnels, les citoyens et les touristes. Dans le but de favoriser des discours artistiques sensibles aux réalités nord-côtières et d’amener la population septilienne à une réflexion sur l’art dans la profusion du phénomène industriel, le thème retenu pour cette première édition est l’Art et l’industrie. Les volets principaux de cet évènement extérieur sont la sculpture monumentale et l’installation en art in-situ. Les activités de création seront regroupées en deux endroits, soit au Vieux-Quai (sculptures monumentales) et au Jardin communautaire Ruisseau Bois-Joli (installations in-situ). L’édition 2016 se clôturera avec la fin du symposium de peinture MAMU (Uashat).

PANACHE art actuel est un centre d’artistes professionnels en arts visuels qui couvre l’ensemble de la région de la Côte-Nord. Il s’intéresse à la mise en valeur des singularités nordcôtières. Ses manifestations se veulent en lien avec l’actualité culturelle et sociale de la grande région de la Côte-Nord et visent également des échanges avec des créateurs de l’extérieur.

Grâce à la contribution de l’Entente de développement culturel de Sept-Îles pour ce projet, le comité organisateur du Symposium de sculpture de la Ville de Sept-Îles 2016 est en mesure de respecter la loi sur le statut de l’artiste et verse des droits d’exposition aux artistes, assume la promotion, les frais d’hébergement, certains repas ainsi qu’une aide aux déplacements sur le territoire de la Côte-Nord.

Fibreworks 2016 est la 16e édition du concours biennal populaire d’art de la fibre. Fibreworks est une des expositions la plus vaste pour les œuvres en fibre au Canada et peuvent inclure jusqu’à 35 artistes. La biennale est ouverte à tous les artistes canadiens. Chaque artiste peut soumettre un maximum de 3 oeuvres. La date limite est le lundi, 28 mars 2016.
Pour être admissibles, les oeuvres doivent comporter des fibres ou des matériaux textiles comme élément principal.
Les oeuvres doivent avoir été produites au cours des deux dernières années. Les oeuvres doivent être de dimensions raisonnables, prêtes à être installées et disponibles pour être expédiées à l’intérieur du Canada.
Chaque oeuvre proposée peut être illustrée au moyen d’un maximum de 3 images numériques, y compris les détails. Chaque image doit être numérotée et doit comporter le nom de l’artiste, ainsi que le titre de l’oeuvre. Prière de soumettre des images sur CD, sauvegardées en fichiers JPEG compatibles avec le système RVB. Dimensions des images : 1024 x 768 pixels; résolution : 300 ppp.
NB tout information soumis doit être en format numérique (Word et PDF accepté). Veuillez inclure un court texte (150 mots maximum) décrivant chaque oeuvre proposée, ainsi qu’un CV d’une page. Les dossiers de candidature ne seront pas retournés aux artistes.

AKA artist–run supports the creation and development of artist driven initiatives and emerging practices that speak to, reflect and encourage dialogue in our culturally diverse communities. This includes work in all media by local, national and international artists. Our venues consist of a street-level gallery, billboard and multi-use screening and performance event space; we also source off-site locations for site-specific projects.

New Adventures in Sound Art (NAISA), the Canadian Electroacoustic Community (CEC) and the Canadian Music Centre (CMC) are pleased to announce the 10th edition of the Toronto International Electroacoustic Symposium (TIES), and delighted to welcome multifaceted artist John Oswald as Keynote Speaker this year. Governor General award-winning and prolific media artist, composer and saxophonist, John Oswald is known for his famous Plunderphonics recordings among a host of other provocative and original projects.

The symposium will take place in Toronto from 10–13 August 2016 at Geary Lane and at the Canadian Music Centre.

We are now inviting proposals for papers, lecture-recitals, special sessions of 2 to 4 panellists, compositions and performances to be presented at TIES 2016 (submission deadline: 16 March 2016).

TIES is a unique point of convergence for a growing international community of diverse electroacoustic (EA) practitioners. We look forward to seeing you at TIES 2016, where you can explore and share diverse perspectives on electroacoustic and sound art research and practice, while expanding your artistic and professional network.

General Information

The 2016 symposium is the tenth annual iteration of this important opportunity for exchange between diverse EA communities. In recent years, a number of themes have emerged, among them: creative and collaborative practices, curation, research and analysis, algorithmic processes, videomusic and intermedia practices, electronic ensembles and live coding.

As in preceding years, the symposium leads directly into the main concert weekend of the annual Sound Travels Festival of Sound Art. This 18th edition of Sound Travels explores emerging trends alongside established traditions in electroacoustic music. At the heart of TIES 2016 will be a Keynote Lecture by John Oswald, one of Sound Travels’ featured artists. TIES and Sound Travels events will be presented using NAISA’s real-time spatialization system.

About the Artists In Communities Program:

This program is based on principles of community cultural
development, which literally means building community by making art
together. Its purpose is to support artists working in community
contexts and to encourage the development of a wide variety of

projects, whether it involves new understanding of creative processes,
the development of collaborative skills or an artwork, which in some
form remains in the community.

Community engaged arts practices see artists collaborate with
community members who may not see themselves as artists working

vibrancies of our neighborhoods this program seeks to inspire

Het Nieuwe Instituut, the Dutch institute for architecture, design, and digital culture in Rotterdam, announces an open call for three research fellows to work in residence from June to December 2016.

Alongside the institute’s exhibitions, lectures, publications, and archives, the fellowship program will explore and challenge how research is conducted within an institutional context, pursuing alternatives to the expectation of predetermined outcomes, the use of official jargon, and the inertia power of the curriculum vitae. In the long term, the program is also intended to complement, reflect on, interact with, and critique the ongoing activities of the institute.

Applicants are asked to submit an independent research proposal that illuminates their own approach to research, including specific and unconventional methodologies. Proposals should confront subjects within or between the fields of architecture, design, and digital culture, but can also rely on a larger system of references, schools of thoughts, and practices from the fields of art, performance, non-fiction and creative writing, programming, humanities, social, physical, and life sciences. Research projects may influence or contribute to future exhibitions or events, but other possibilities may emerge independently of the existing programs of Het Nieuwe Instituut.

Research
In recent years, the concept and practice of research has attracted renewed attention within the cultural sector. In a world increasingly documented—and simultaneously obscured—by the speed and quantity of information in circulation, research plays a critical role in elucidating the relevance of both existing and new ideas, and the responsibility of institutions in their construction and promotion.

Het Nieuwe Instituut wants to acknowledge and give visibility to research projects, practices, and initiatives whose success is understood not in terms of academic citations, adherence to official formats, or profitability, but in their ability to offer departures from established modes of thinking and to become the motor for sharing collective forms of knowledge.

Theme
The programs of Het Nieuwe Instituut are organized around a framework of landscapes and interiors, things and materials, and an annual theme that confronts temporal shifts within these fields.

Taking as a departure point the centennial anniversary of the Russian Revolution, Het Nieuwe Instituut’s 2017 program will explore revolution, reflecting on radical movements of the 20th century while also investigating the unstable landscape of the present and the unpredictable territories of the future. Revolution has both political and cultural associations, referring to sudden disruptions in social, technical, and aesthetic practices and theories as well as to the cyclical, self-perpetuating nature of systems of governance and production.

Application
Applicants for a fellowship are invited to develop an independent research proposal and to articulate a relationship between their proposal and the frameworks and thematic subjects unfolding within the institute.

The mission of the Update biennial events
Update’s mission is to expand the scope of contemporary artistic creations and traditional media with works using contemporary and new technologies in an original and intelligent way: treatment of sounds and light, use of new media, application of innovative evolutions in communications, telecommunications and broadcasting, centered on the world of information, communication, and computers and interaction. These descriptions are in no way restrictive and should be interpreted in the broadest way possible.

General guidelines for entry in the NTAA competition
The aim of the competition is to present works in accordance with Update’s mission. The submitted work may have been exhibited previously, but the jury reserves the right to exclude creations that turn out to be not realizable within the limits of the practical possibilities of the Liedts-Meesen Foundation, keeping in mind that the works will be displayed during the exhibition. The basic equipment is available and at the disposal of the selected artists; specific and special equipment must be provided for and lent by the artists for the duration of the exhibition.

There will be a publication of the Update_6 exhibition.

Calendar and conditions of the competition
The choice of the projects selected by the jury will be rendered public at the website in June 2016.

Eligibility and submission details
This international competition is open to all age groups and to all nationalities. English is the working language.

Prize
A cash award of 5,000 euro will be allocated to a work and to its creator. Moreover, the jury reserves the right to award an honorable mention to an artist. The Liedts-Meesen Foundation and the jury reserve the right to not award the prize and to transfer it to the next edition. There will possibly also be a prize of the European Commission. The winners will be announced at the final day of the exhibition.

Exhibition: Lee Lee Nam
During the same period Zebrastraat shows work of the South-Korean artist Lee Lee Nam. His works are located at the intersection of tradition and modernity, humanity and nature, East and West, analog and digital, originality and duplication and of neoliberalism and digital technology. Often referring to art history, he creates a dialogue between different traditional and modern media technologies and their cultural history. He lifts the barrier between diverse cultures and periods of time and questions the habits of perception and handling with art.

The Living Arts Centre invites new graduates of arts institutions to submit applications for the 2016 – 2017 Arts Fellowship Program in the Flameworking, Glass, Painting & Drawing, Textiles/Jewellery, and Wood Studios.

This program offers graduates an opportunity to work within a professional studio environment after completing their studio education. This program provides a venue to assist new artists with the production of their first body of work in a specialized studio. Based on studio availability, fellowships will be awarded to recent graduates in the above noted studios.

Eligibility and Application

To be eligible for the competition, applicants must be new graduates (within two years of graduation) of a post-secondary school degree in studio arts, or of an educational equivalent. Artists must submit a full application package including the following information:

Port Moody is launching its first artist in residence program. This
opportunity provides an artist with a rent-free one bedroom apartment in
Rocky Point Park in exchange for artistic and caretaker services. This

capable of performing all of the duties expected of the resident caretaker.

Le Studio XX lance un appel afin de recueillir des propositions pour son programme de résidences en recherche et création 2016-2017.Les résidences du Studio XX offrent aux artistes la possibilité d’expérimenter et de créer de nouvelles œuvres. Nous répondons à leurs besoins techniques, créatifs et théoriques en les référant à notre réseau communautaire d’expert-e-s (la décision de s’y impliquer revient à l’artiste).

Les artistes en résidence ont accès à un espace de travail (partagé avec l’équipe du Studio), à un ordinateur réservé et aux équipements du Studio XX pendant six semaines. Ils-Elles profitent d’un soutien technique ainsi que d’un cachet d’artiste. Leur travail est présenté dans le cadre de nos activités de diffusion. Trois résidences ouvertes sont offertes annuellement. Le Studio XX souhaite offrir un espace de création privilégié aux artistes qui recherchent un lieu d’échange et d’encadrement où ils-elles peuvent définir leurs projets autour de leurs préoccupations et de leur démarche personnelle.
INFORMATIONS PRATIQUES

Toute proposition est examinée par un comité de sélection. Les projets sont choisis selon les conditions suivantes :
œuvres créées ou dirigées par des artistes s’identifiant comme femmes, trans ou dissident-e-s ;
œuvres d’art Web, d’art-réseau, numérique ou audionumérique, installation ou performance multimédia, innovatrices autant au point de vue du contenu que de la forme ;
œuvres qui peuvent être réalisées avec les ressources matérielles disponibles au Studio XX (équipement, connaissance technique, ressources financières).
De plus, la sélection du projet d’un-e candidat-e devra aussi répondre à au moins 2 des critères suivants:

contribuer de manière significative au développement de la pratique d’un-e artiste en arts médiatiques ;
s’inscrire dans une volonté d’expérimentation technique ;
exprimer d’une manière pertinente et captivante un engagement théorique, politique et/ou social.
Pour les projets acceptés, le Studio XX offre :

un espace réservé à l’artiste et à ses instructeur-rice-s pendant 6 semaines
un cachet de 1 000 $
un soutien technique
un accès à l’équipement du centre
la possibilité d’assister à certains ateliers du Studio XX

Les résidences n’incluent pas le coût des déplacements, de l’hébergement ni les per diem ; l’artiste est responsable de trouver un arrangement pour son séjour à Montréal (pour les artistes internationaux-ales). Accès aux archives Matricules : Matricules est le projet d’archives en ligne du Studio XX et rassemble plus de 5 000 images, textes, sons et vidéos qui documentent les œuvres, événements et collaborations d’artistes remontant à la fondation du centre en 1996. Conceptualisé à partir de l’image du tissage ainsi que du principe d’inclusion propre aux féminismes et aux logiciels libres, ce projet est fondé d’une part sur le besoin de s’approprier notre propre histoire et les outils pour la raconter,  et, d’autre part, sur le désir d’être ouvert-e-s à de multiples voix en le faisant. Artists are invited to submit proposals for a new sculpture for the Haliburton Sculpture Forest located in Glebe Park in the village of Haliburton, Ontario.

The Haliburton Sculpture Forest is looking for a work of artistic excellence and durability that suits the natural attributes of the Haliburton Sculpture Forest and addresses the theme “Together, We Explore the Wild”.

The winning artist will be responsible for the cost of materials and transporting the sculpture to the site.

The sculpture may be an existing work or a new work. The Sculpture Forest will pay up to $15,000 (inclusive of HST) for the work.

Sculpture is to be installed by June 15, 2016

Proposals must include a description of the sculpture, detailed drawings or a maquette (if it is a proposed new work), photographs (if it is an existing work), description of materials and installation method and five pictures of other recent work. Details are provided in the terms of reference.

Call to Canadian Indigenous Artists :: Valley Line Tawatinâ Bridge

Call to Artists – Tawatinâ Bridge Public Art Project (TBC) the Tawatinâ Bridge public art competition, is open to all professional Canadian Indigenous artists residing in Canada, and is held in accordance with the City of Edmonton policy “Percent for Art to Provide and Encourage Art in Public Areas” (C458C).

The Edmonton Arts Council Public Art Program, on behalf of the City of Edmonton, is seeking a Canadian Indigenous Artist or artist team to integrate site-specific public art at the Tawatina Bridge. Artist teams may be comprised of Canadian Indigenous lead artist(s), or Canadian Indigenous lead artist(s) in collaboration or mentorship relationships with emerging artists.

There are two potential locations for public art, both of which provide significant and highly visible opportunities for public art. Renderings are provided with images illustrating the art locations. In a manner that is culturally appropriate to the peoples of this region, artwork concepts should consider the significant cultural heritage and legacy of the river valley, the rich histories, stories and customs that tell of this place, and Indigenous perspectives of “river crossing”. Artworks of diverse mediums as well as contemporary and customary (traditional) disciplines are welcome.

Applicants must identify one site location in their letters of intent, as well as their conceptual approach to the project. Letters of intent must also include a preliminary indication of a community engagement strategy.

Shortlisted artists will have first opportunity to interact with local Indigenous Elders and knowledge holders at a 1-2 day site visit/workshop (date TBA), facilitated by Métis curator Candice Hopkins.

Budget:
$295,500.00 CAD (maximum, all inclusive)

Artwork for the Outdoors 2016

Petroff Gallery is hosting our third annual month-long exhibition, Artwork for the Outdoors. We invite artists working in any medium to submit artwork for consideration via email by April 1st, 2016. Submitted artworks must be minimum three season appropriate, durable, easily installable, and of a scale suitable for display in a commercial gallery space.

Crossings Leisure Complex Public Art Plan
Description
The City of Lethbridge Art Committee is seeking the assistance of a professional artist in the development of a public art plan for the Crossing Leisure Complex that will recommend multiple projects that will tell the story of sport in Lethbridge.

Background
In 2014, Lethbridge City Council approved the construction of a community leisure centre with a budget of more than $150 million dollars. The Crossings Leisure Complex (CLC) will have in excess of 350,000 square feet of recreation, sport, leisure, and active living. The CLC has been designed to foster an open relationship by allowing for connectivity amidst all components of the multi-use, multi-generational, community facility. The complex is located within a walkable, aesthetically-pleasing environment, and will act as a community hub where people of all ages and abilities can come together to play, learn, exercise, relax, and have fun. The complex incorporates cold (Phase 1) and warm (Phase 2) activity centres.

Scope of Work
The City of Lethbridge Art Committee is seeking the assistance of an artist to develop a multi-project public art plan that will tell the story of sport in Lethbridge. The recommended projects will support connectivity throughout the complex and should express the full spectrum of recreation and sport experience from leisure to professional. The project should also take into consideration the family and community focus of the CLC.

The selected artist will be required to work with members of the community, the facility design team, facility operators, the public art project coordinator, and other stakeholders as part of plan development. More information regarding stakeholder contact will be provided to the artist selected to complete the project. It is expected that additional artists will be commissioned to implement recommended projects. The artist selected to create the plan will not be eligible to submit proposal for any of the projects recommended in the plan.

The CLC public art plan must include a display for the Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame (LSHOF). Display items for the LSHOF include video information about honoured members, two dimensional visual displays including banners, photographs, posters, and written materials, and three dimensional artifacts ranging in size from small objects such as baseballs and pucks to much larger items including a bicycle or a row of stadium seating.

Budget
The total budget for developing the CLC public art plan is $15,000.00. The budget is inclusive of artist’s fee, required travel, parking, and accommodation, and all research, documentation, and printings required to create the planning document.

Eligibility
The competition is open to qualified professional visual artists. It is preferred that the artist reside in Alberta, British Columbia, or Saskatchewan.

Project Timeline

• Meeting with Key Stakeholders: April 19, 2016
• Community Engagement: May – June, 2016

Submission Requirements
Submissions will only be accepted in electronic format, submitted by e-mail. All documents must be sent as either Word documents (.doc or .docx) or in PDF format. Please send all requested materials in one document; do not submit multiple attachments. The following items must be submitted as part of the proposal:

• Professional curriculum vitae
• Statement of Interest: A statement of 1000 words or less that outlines the applicant’s interest in the project, their experience with community engagement and plan development projects, and the artist’s strategy for developing a public art plan including proposed community outreach strategies.
• References: Please provide current contact information for three references who can speak to the applicant’s ability to create a conceptual framework that guides the storytelling and display strategy necessitated by this project. References should also be able to speak to the applicant’s ability to work collaboratively with project partners.
• Additional information: A maximum of five pages of additional information can be submitted. This may include links to websites detailing prior projects, press releases, or other any other materials that would strengthen your application.

The City of Lethbridge Art Committee’s Public Art Project Commissioning Committee will evaluate all applications. The contract will be awarded to the applicant based on the evaluation criteria outlined below:

community members to create a digital artwork for the ncamat ct
Strathcona branch. The selected community artist or artists will use the

art piece will be displayed prominently by being shown on the digital

Call to Artists – Alex Decoteau Park Public Art Project

The Alex Decoteau Park public art competition, open to professional
artists residing, in Canada is held in accordance with the City of
Edmonton policy “Percent for Art to Provide and Encourage Art in
Public Areas” (C458C).

The Edmonton Arts Council Public Art Program, on behalf of the City of
Edmonton, seeks an artist or artist team to integrate a site-specific
three dimensional artwork in Alex Decoteau Park. The art location is a
paved triangular alcove, located centrally within the overall park site.
This location provides park users with the opportunity to discover a
significant sculptural work while enjoying the park’s pathways or
pausing at adjacent park furniture. The artist will be required to do
community consultation to develop the final work.

Budget:
$112,000.00 CAD (maximum, all inclusive)
