- explorent des réalités qui contestent la fiabilité de l’image photographique;
- posent la question de l’image comme témoin du réel et s’intéressent au caractère fantasmé et sublimé de la réalité;
- étendent la question de la véracité de l’image à des horizons plus vastes que la trace documentaire et l’enregistrement du réel;
- un maximum de 10 images (500 ko par image) en format JPG (72 dpi, couleurs RGB) ou PDF. Les images doivent être identifiées et accompagnées d’une liste descriptive précise (titre, année, médium, dimensions);

NAISA is pleased to launch its
2016 Call For Submissions SOUND RESPONSE
Deadline June 15, 2016
www.naisa.ca
Categories: Transmission Art/Radio Art, Electroacoustic Music/Sound Art, Interactive Installation Art, and Other
Go to http://naisa.ca/opportunities/calls-for-submissions/naisa-general-call-for-submissions/ for full information and on-line application
New Adventures in Sound Art (NAISA) invites artists of all ages and nationalities to submit works on the theme Sound Response for consideration in New Adventures in Sound Art’s 2017 programming.
Sounds, people, animals and environments interact in interesting and complex ways. Languages are shaped by environments, sounds often distinguish the character of a community or habitat, and sound waves propagate differently when they respond to different surfaces and atmospheric conditions. For its 2017 programming, NAISA is interested in submissions that reflect the notion of a Sound Response and creative ways that this can be shared.
Preference in programming will be given to works that respond in some way to the theme Sound Response. Individual interpretations or variations on the theme are encouraged, but should be realized with sound as the primary component. NAISA would also like to encourage artists to submit works on the theme for performance, gallery exhibit, audio-visual screening, radio or internet broadcast, telematics, mobile experiences and any other emerging or alternative formats that include sound as a primary element. Please complete in full the online submission form and upload your audio by midnight on June 15, 2016. Note: there is a $5 submission fee in order to defray the cost of processing the submissions. All works chosen for presentation will receive an artist fee. Only those artists being considered for presentation will be contacted.

Art on the BIG Screens | Call for Submissions
The City of Mississauga (‘City’) Public Art Program invites artists to submit digital, screen based work in all genres. Art on the BIG Screens is an annual series hosted at Mississauga Celebration Square on Monday nights throughout the summer, starting in May. As part of this series we are excited to present local, national and international artists on the BIG Screens. This is an exciting opportunity to present digital based work on large outdoor screens. See Appendix “I” for images of past works.
About The BIG Screens:
Large digital screens are ubiquitous. We see these screens as we drive down major roadways, as we walk through town squares. The majority of these screens are either completely programmed with advertising or supported through advertising. The BIG Screens, however, are completely the opposite. Managed by the City’s Culture Division, The BIG Screens are programmed to support City events, share civic information and to promote, support and enrich the community.
Eligibility:
This Call is open to all local, national and international professional artists* as well as cultural producers working with the moving image. Persons with disabilities, visible minorities and Aboriginals are encouraged to apply.
* The City of Mississauga defines a professional artist as a person who is critically recognized as an artist; possesses skill, training and/or experience in his or her artistic discipline; is active in and committed to his or her art practice; and has a history of public presentation.
Duration:
- Digital based work up to 2 hours in length (can be looped).
Screening Dates/Times:
The City is wishing to commission five screen-based works for the five (5) available timeslots, to exhibit Art on the BIG Screens on Monday nights.
- Monday, May 30, 2016
- Monday, June 27, 2016
- Monday, July 25, 2016
- Monday, August 29, 2016
- Monday, September 26, 2016
Budget:
The total all-inclusive artist fee for each selected Artist is: $500.00 (confirm)
The City endorses the practice of remuneration for artists and arts professionals according to the most recent Canadian Artists’ Representation/Le Front des artistes canadien (CARFAC) Minimum Fee Schedule.
Selection Process
The submissions will be evaluated by an Art Selection Committee composed of members of the project team as well as a professional artist from the film/digital industry. The Art Selection Committee will select a maximum of 5 Artist works.
Criteria and Themes:
- Artists are invited to submit artworks across various themes and subject matter
- June is National Aboriginal Month, as such artists are asked to consider this as a possible theme for content
- Content that is too small or cluttered, including small text, is not advisable as it may not be legible
- Commercial advertising or product logos are not permitted
Original Work:
The artist must guarantee that the artwork is original and does not violate the copyright of any other person.
Copyright:
If selected, the artist will be required to enter into a Professional Services Agreement with the City of Mississauga. The artist retains the copyright and right to be identified as the creator of the artwork. The City of Mississauga will seek copyright permission to reproduce the images for non-profit publicity purposes.
Content Requirements:
Although explicit content is generally accepted in a fine art context, the public nature of this exhibit hinders some creative freedom in that respect. Content should be both suitable and relevant for presentation on urban screens, as they are located within a highly visible public space that is accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. For this reason, the content guidelines for screenings have been established, based on a modified format of the Ontario Film Review Board Parental Guidance (PG) rating. Content with explicit use of alcohol, smoking, and illegal drugs, horror, offensive language, nudity, sexual activity and/or violence will not be considered appropriate. FUNDACIÓN CALLE BOHEMIA
CONVOCATORIA
7º ENCUENTRO PERFORMANCE PARA LA VI(D)A.

Date limite d’inscription : vendredi 3 juin 2016

Residency For Artists On Hiatus (RFAOH)
Call for applications 2016/2017
RFAOH co-directors Shinobu Akimoto and Matthew Evans are pleased to invite international “artists on-hiatus” to apply to their third call for residents to participate in their ongoing project Residency For Artists On Hiatus (RFAOH).
Residency For Artists On Hiatus is a virtual yet functioning residency available to artists who, for one reason or another, are NOT currently making or presenting art. The residency exists in the form of a website only, and the residents are selected based on their proposals of “on-hiatus” activities (or non-activities). To be eligible to apply, artists must have previously created an independent body of work and have exhibited in a public context. Selected residents will be represented on a dedicated page within the RFAOH website, where they post periodic reports throughout their residency. A modest stipend will be awarded to successful applicants to assist in their on-hiatus endeavour. At the conclusion of their residency, residents are asked to submit a written report on how they benefited from or were otherwise influenced by this opportunity.
Since its launch in 2013, Residency For Artists On Hiatus has hosted twelve international “on-hiatus artists” with a broad range of backgrounds and projects. Through this opportunity to be free from the obligations of being an artist, they have explored the space between art-making and other creative endeavour, and the limits and liminalities of professionalism in the arts. Residency For Artists On Hiatus has also generated steady responses, including a growing community of followers, featured articles in various media, and invitations for presentations from art spaces worldwide.
We are excited to host a third cohort of residents, and continue our discourse surrounding the role of art within the wider culture. This year, we also look forward to the publication of “RFAOH Annual Reports”, which will document our operation and our residents’ “on-hiatus” activities. To know more about Residency For Artists On Hiatus, please visit: www.residencyforartistsonhiatus.org. Detailed information on how to apply can be found at www.residencyforartistsonhiatus.org/application.php
THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS JUNE 25, 2016
Residency For Artists On Hiatus continues to seek a host organization who may promote the residency through their own website, and/or assist in funding the programme. If your institution/organization is interested in supporting RFAOH, please contact us at info [arobas] residencyforartistsonhiatus [point] org
We would like to thank the organizations and individuals who have helped us in various ways over the last three years. We also sincerely thank Mr. Tehching Hsieh for accepting our invitation to sit on our advisory board. Without their support and encouragement, this third call for applications would have never happened.

Panels meet in late summer to review applications and invitations are made in early September. Artistic merit and promise are the basis for selections. While it is not required, an embrace of how art and nature communicate is encouraged at Caldera.
A panel of fellow artists and art professionals chooses 21-36 artists for residences each year. The panel changes annually in order to keep the program dynamic. Final awards of residencies are at the discretion of Caldera. In some special instances, artists are invited to participate without submitting an application.
Depending on funding, Caldera may make stipends available to attending residents. For more information about stipends, contact Elizabeth Quinn. Residents are responsible for food, travel, materials, and other expenses.
LIVING ENVIRONMENT
Residents are provided a private cabin (two walk-up log cabins and five A-frame cabins available) with sleeping loft, living room/work area, kitchenette, bathroom, and a porch overlooking Link Creek or with a view of Blue Lake from their windows. Cabins are heated by woodstove (with chopped wood provided) and electric heat. The kitchens have a coffeepot, two-burner stove, microwave, small refrigerator, dishes, and pots and pans. Once a week, dinner provided by Caldera, is shared as a group.
There is very little cell service at Caldera. Dependable service is a 20-minute drive away in Sisters. A landline is available to residents. A phone card is required for long-distance calls. Wi-Fi is available throughout the Hearth Building, studios, and cabins.
We regret that pets are not allowed. Caldera is a smoke-free environment.
Overnight accommodations are limited to invited residents only. Artists with children and a caretaker are the only exception. Studio time and teaching and presentation opportunities are only for artists invited through the application process. Accommodations for visitors are available in the local area community and range from 10 – 16 miles from Caldera.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Residents are given 24-hour access to studios and the time and space to create.
They have access to the Hearth Building where there is rehearsal and performance space, a mixing board, sound booth, speakers, a projector and large screen, and a well-equipped commercial kitchen. There is also shared access to wet and dry studios that house a darkroom, two kilns, 18” x 36” etching press, and large blank walls.
By design, residents form a small community of 7–12 artists, depending on the group. Collaboration and exchange is encouraged.
Writers and others not needing an expansive space, work in their A-frames, which contain a large table and living area. A shared loft space in the Hearth Building is optional for writers and digital artists.
Visual artists work in one of Caldera’s two studios. Campbell Studio is a semi-private space that holds two studios for visual artists of all kinds. One side of Campbell Studio has two kilns, drying shelves, a work table, sink and counter; the other side has large walls, a work table, a large and small sink and counters. Studio B has large walls, a sink, counter, work table, a darkroom and the etching press. Both studios include natural light and large loft spaces above the main floor.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Artists are not required to finish a project during their residency, but they share their work with the local community at our Open Studios events at the end of each month. Open Studios are held at our Arts Center on the last Saturday of every residency. They are free and open to the public.
Artists are also encouraged to do outreach projects with Caldera youth and in neighboring schools in the area. There are opportunities to present work or to create workshops for youth.Occasionally calls for applications for teaching residencies are announced at Caldera. If you would like to be notified of these opportunities, please email AiR Director, Elizabeth Quinn.Go here, for past residents’ perspectives of a residency at Caldera.

CALL FOR ARTISTS!
The Gardiner Museum is inviting artists to create “green” art installations for our annual 12 Trees exhibition.
Submission Deadline: JUNE 15, 2016
Visit the website and download the full request for proposals
Over the last 27 years, the Gardiner Museum has celebrated the festive season with its signature fundraising exhibition, 12 Trees, and its central gala event, the G Party. Last year, the 12 Trees exhibition was reinvigorated as a showcase of contemporary tree-inspired art installations based on the theme “The Joy of Creativity”. The artists and designers included Justin Broadbent, Bruno Billio, Jane Waterous, and Michael Adamson, among others. The exhibition raised over $130,000 for the Gardiner, doubled its audience over previous years, and received tremendous media coverage.
The Gardiner is among the few museums in the world focused on ceramics. This year’s 12 Trees theme celebrates the very foundations of clay: the Earth. The Gardiner values the one-of-a-kind and the handmade, careful rather than mass consumption, and the preservation of treasured objects for future generations.
In 2016, we invite artists to propose Christmas tree installations inspired by the theme Good for the Earth. Proposals should address one, or all, of the following:
- Are recycled
- Draw attention to material culture
- Focus on the handmade
- Are made of sustainable material
- Illustrate something that is, simply, good for the Earth

– La majorité des artistes invités sont sélectionnés par un commissaire et ne doivent pas être représentés en galerie;
Description des tâches:
– sélection des artistes (conjointement avec notre comité de sélection);
– sélection des œuvres;
– mise en espace des œuvres;
