Le Labo, pôle dans le monde des arts médiatiques, est un lieu d’innovation qui favorise le rayonnement de ses artistes. Sa programmation annuelle se fait sur la base d’un appel à projets. Pour sa programmation 2017-2018, Le Labo cherche des œuvres qui interrogent sur le thème suivant :

Dans cet appel ouvert, les artistes canadiens francophones / francophiles dont le travail questionne les comportements et les débordements d’une humanité plurielle et contemporaine sont invités à proposer des projets en arts médiatiques. Phénomena est un festival interdisciplinaire et bilingue dont l’objectif est de mettre en valeur des artistes novateurs, inclassables… et même extravagants. Le festival présente des performances fantaisistes et théâtrales, des spectacles avec projections, des cabarets, des happenings, de la danse performative, de la performance art action, de la musique expérimentale et des installations faisant appel aux technologies numériques et analogues. La 5ième édition de Phénomena aura lieu du 14 au 21 octobre 2016.L’expérimentation et la prise de risque sont au cœur de notre travail et Phénomena s’intéresse aux artistes qui ont une démarche forte, qui prennent des risques et qui se questionnent, qu’ils soient émergents ou confirmés, et aux jeunes compagnies indépendantes et anticonformistes. Appel aux artistes en arts visuels
Le Centre culturel franco-manitobain vous invite à soumettre une proposition d’exposition en arts visuels pour la période de programmation allant de novembre 2016 à octobre 2017.
Le Centre culturel franco-manitobain abrite une galerie d’art professionnelle depuis sa construction en 1974. Celle-ci occupe 1 550 pieds carrés au rez-de-chaussée de l’édifice, au cœur du lieu public. Au cours des années, la Galerie du CCFM a présenté plusieurs expositions importantes pour initier la communauté francophone du Manitoba aux arts visuels.
Le Centre culturel franco-manitobain est présentement à la recherche de soumissions pour des expositions en arts visuels, pour la période de programmation allant de novembre 2016 à octobre 2017. Tout artiste professionnel ayant terminé sa formation de base, ayant pratiqué son art pendant au moins un an depuis la fin de ses études, et ayant à son actif un corps d’œuvres pour exposition est invité à déposer sa soumission pour une exposition dans la Galerie.

Le Conseil des arts du Canada sollicite l’expression d’intérêt des personnes intéressées à agir comme conservateur/conservatrice d’une exposition qui sera présentée à la salle d’exposition Âjagemô à compter de mai 2016.
À l’approche du 150e anniversaire du Canada, ainsi que du 60e anniversaire du Conseil des arts et du 45e anniversaire de la Banque d’art en 2017, cette exposition offrira une occasion d’utiliser la collection de la Banque d’art comme point de départ à une réflexion sur le passé et l’avenir du Canada par le truchement de l’art contemporain.

Dans le cadre de sa programmation 2016, la Galerie du Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, présentée à l’Espace culturel George-Émile-Lapalme de la Place des Arts, invite les artistes professionnels québécois à soumettre un dossier pour un projet d’exposition.
La Galerie du Festival International de Jazz de Montréal a été fondée en 1996 et accueille annuellement plus de 10 000 visiteurs en provenance des quatre coins du monde.

Implanté à Lévis, Regart, centre d’artistes en art actuel assure, depuis 1986, une présence dynamique des arts visuels actuels auprès des publics des territoires de Chaudière-Appalaches et de Québec.
Présentée en galerie, mais aussi hors les murs, sa programmation met l’accent sur des productions relevant de l’hybridation des formes d’expression et de l’expérimentation, tant dans les processus de création que dans la présentation des expositions, où la qualité artistique et l’importance du discours théorique sont mises de l’avant.
Orientation artistique 2016-2017
Qu’en est-il des expositions collectives?
Avant d’être officiellement un lieu de diffusion en 1986, Regart a d’abord été un collectif d’artistes qui a exposé pour la première fois en 1984, à Lévis sur la côte du Passage. Depuis, beaucoup d’eau a coulé sous les ponts et nous voilà à l’ère des expositions solos dans une période où les Centres sont soumis à des compressions budgétaires, des réductions de plages d’expositions et des pressions de toutes parts. À force de jongler, avec ces diverses réalités nous nous sommes questionnés sur l’origine des centres d’artistes et leurs évolutions. Du collectif au lieu de consécration solitaire, nous voulons vous proposer un juste milieu.
Suite aux succès retentissants des dernières expositions collectives et des activités membres combinées à notre programmation régulière, nous reconnaissons l’importance et le potentiel de réanimer cette vive et inspirante opportunité des centres d’artistes d’être des lieux de rencontres et de mise en réseaux entre les artistes, de dialogue entre les œuvres, les membres impliqués dans le centre d’artistes, l’équipe du centre et son public.
C’est pourquoi, pour sa programmation 2016-2017, Regart souhaite développer une série de trois expositions collectives. Nous vous invitons donc, artistes et commissaires, à nous envoyer vos dossiers pour développer, avec nous, cette orientation unique dans la région de Chaudière-Appalaches et de Québec
Les artistes sont invités à nous présenter leurs dossiers en considérant qu’une ou des œuvres seront sélectionnées par un comité spécial qui assurera le commissariat avec la direction artistique de Regart.
Les commissaires indépendants qui travaillent autour de la question de l’exposition collective comme structure de leurs recherches sont également invités à nous présenter un projet d’exposition composé d’un maximum de quatre artistes de leur choix.

Invitation aux artistes professionnels et de la relève en arts visuels, aux commissaires et institutions qui désirent présenter un projet d’exposition.
L’Association des centres d’exposition de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue (ACEAT) lance son appel conjoint de propositions d’expositions s’adressant aux artistes professionnels et de la relève en arts visuels, aux commissaires et institutions. Depuis 1980, l’ACEAT constitue un réseau de diffusion professionnel qui regroupe cinq centres d’exposition distincts de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue reconnus: le Centre d’art Rotary de La Sarre, le Centre d’exposition d’Amos, le Centre d’exposition de Val-d’Or, le Centre d’exposition de Rouyn-Noranda ainsi que la Galerie du Rift de Ville-Marie.
Un seul dossier déposé est nécessaire alors que l’ACEAT s’assure de faire le suivi auprès de chacun des centres.
La date limite est le 31 janvier 2016 (ou jour ouvrable suivant, cachet de la poste faisant foi). Aucun dossier ne sera accepté par courriel, tout comme aucun dossier ne sera retourné après analyse.

FIBREWORKS 2016
Biennale-concours des arts canadiens de la fibre
Du 9 septembre au 13 novembre 2016
Fibreworks 2016 est la 16e édition du concours biennal populaire d’art de la fibre. Fibreworks est une des expositions la plus vaste pour les œuvres en fibre au Canada et peuvent inclure jusqu’à 35 artistes. Toutes les œuvres sélectionnées sont éligibles pour le prix du jury et peuvent être achetés par Idea Exchange Art + Design pour sa collection permanente dédiée exclusivement à l’art de la fibre canadienne. L’exposition Fibreworks 2016 prend place au Galerie Queen’s Square du 9 septembre au 13 novembre 2016.
APPEL DE CANDIDATURES
CONDITIONS D’ADMISSION
La biennale est ouverte à tous les artistes canadiens. Chaque artiste peut soumettre un maximum de 3 oeuvres. La date limite est le lundi, 28 mars 2016.
Pour être admissibles, les oeuvres doivent comporter des fibres ou des matériaux textiles comme élément principal.
Les oeuvres doivent avoir été produites au cours des deux dernières années. Les oeuvres doivent être de dimensions raisonnables, prêtes à être installées et disponibles pour être expédiées à l’intérieur du Canada.
Chaque oeuvre proposée peut être illustrée au moyen d’un maximum de 3 images numériques, y compris les détails. Chaque image doit être numérotée et doit comporter le nom de l’artiste, ainsi que le titre de l’oeuvre. Prière de soumettre des images sur CD, sauvegardées en fichiers JPEG compatibles avec le système RVB. Dimensions des images : 1024 x 768 pixels; résolution : 300 ppp.
NB tout information soumis doit être en format numérique (Word et PDF accepté). Veuillez inclure un court texte (150 mots maximum) décrivant chaque oeuvre proposée, ainsi qu’un CV d’une page. Les dossiers de candidature ne seront pas retournés aux artistes.
La sélection finale sera complétée par le jury. Toutes les décisions sont sans appel. Les artistes sélectionnés seront avisés par 30 juin 2016.
Les finalistes recevront des honoraires de 100$ pour chaque oeuvre sélectionnée. Les frais de transport seront pris en charge par la galerie .
Le Prix du jury sera attribué lors du vernissage, le vendredi 9 septembre.

The 11th edition of the 7a*11d International Festival of Performance Art will take place in Toronto from October 12 to 22, 2016. Curated and organized by a non-profit artist collective, the festival presents innovative and progressive contemporary performance art by local, national and international artists. This call for submissions is an invitation restricted to artists from Canada. We are looking for emerging, mid-career and established artists in Canada alongside international artists to showcase the breadth and depth of current contemporary performance art practice.

Third Space Gallery invites artists to submit proposals for upcoming programming in 2016/2017. Third Space continues its nomadic existence as an artistrun centre in Saint John, NB; we encourage artists to submit proposals for projects that need not exist within the traditional gallery space. New and experimental work is encouraged.
Third Space is seeking interdisciplinary submissions and is open to both short and long term projects as well as curated projects. Art City invites local, national, and international artists to submit proposals to lead collaborative art workshops at our studio in 2016 and early 2017.
Art City is a drop-in community art studio located in West Broadway, a culturally diverse and densely populated neighbourhood in the heart of Winnipeg’s inner city. Art City is open free-of-charge for anyone (all ages), engaging an average of 28 participants per evening. The vast majority of those who come to Art City are youth between the ages of 6 and 13 years. Older youth, adults, and seniors also regularly participate in Art City programs.

The Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition (Charlottenborg Forårsudstilling) is one of the most important open submission exhibitions in Europe, and has been held annually in Copenhagen since 1857. It originated as an exhibition showing new works by Danish artists and now features participants from many countries. Over the years it has included early works by such renowned international figures as Alvar Aalto, Per Kirkeby, Olafur Eliasson, Superflex and many others. The exhibition is organised by Charlottenborg Fonden.
Submissions
Submissions to the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition 2016 can be made by artists of any nationality and country of residence, aged over 18 years. Submitted artworks may fall into a wide range of genres associated with art, architecture and design—including painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, photography, video, film, performance, design, craft, animation, sound and new media. Submissions are made digitally in the period January 11–18, 2016.
Jury
The jury of the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition is made up of artists and other art and design professionals from the Nordic countries and beyond. It is intended that the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition 2016 will include a broad range of competencies from the fields of art, architecture and design, and the jurors have been selected accordingly. In 2016 the jury will be FOS (artist, Denmark), Molly Haslund (artist, Denmark), Anton Alvarez (designer, Sweden), Anders Abraham (architect, Denmark) and Thorsten Sadowsky (curator, Switzerland). Jury awards
As well as selecting the works, the jury also nominates ten artists for two special jury awards: The National Solo Award and The International Solo Award. The awards recognize overall artistic quality and present-day relevance, and are granted on the opening day of the exhibition. The solo awards are accompanied by an invitation to exhibit at the following Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition 2017.
Exhibition
The exhibition is held at Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen, one of the largest and most beautiful spaces for contemporary art in Europe, and the dates of the next exhibition are March 10–April 17, 2016. The exhibition allows a considerable number of artists to participate in a major international project and has over the years provided the first significant platform for many emerging artists, while also presenting important new pieces by more established figures.

Call for applications: Frieze Artist Award 2016, supported by LUMA Foundation
Deadline: February 10, 2016
Today Frieze announces the Frieze Artist Award 2016, supported by the LUMA Foundation. Now welcoming applications, the Award is an international open call for an artist between 25–40 years of age to realize a major site-specific work at Frieze London 2016. The winning commission will be presented as part of Frieze Projects, the fair’s celebrated non-profit programme established in 2003, and curated by the newly appointed Raphael Gygax. Frieze Projects and the Frieze Artist Award are supported by the LUMA Foundation.
Entrance to the Award is by open submission. Proposals should be new works that respond to the dynamic environment of the London fair, and applicants will be evaluated on the innovative nature of their proposal and its potential for realization. Produced under the guidance of Curator Raphael Gygax and the Frieze Projects team, the Award will include a budget of up to 20,000 GBP for production, research and development, artist fees and travel expenses.
The closing date for applications is February 10, 2016 at 5pm GMT. Proposals will be reviewed by a selection panel including Marvin Gaye Chetwynd (artist), Beatrix Ruf (Director, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam) and Bettina Steinbrügge (Director, Kunstverein Hamburg), chaired by Jo Stella-Sawicka (Artistic Director, Frieze fairs). The winner will be announced in the Spring of 2016.
The 2015 Frieze Artist Award was awarded to New York-based artist Rachel Rose, who created a scale model of the fair structure, in which lighting and sound design simulated the sonic and visual sense frequencies of animals inhabiting The Regent’s Park. In 2014, the inaugural Frieze Artist Award was given to Mélanie Matranga, whose project A to B coffee explored economic and emotional exchange in a series of online videos and an on-site café-installation at Frieze London.
Now in its third year, the Frieze Artist Award sits within a rich history of artist awards presented at Frieze London, including the Emdash Award (2011–2013) and the Cartier Award (2006–2010), which have made possible ambitious new commissions by artists including Cécile B. Evans (2013), Simon Fujiwara (2010), Jordan Wolfson (2009) and Mario García Torres (2007), among others.

Utopiana met au concours une résidence d’artiste autour de la thématique suivante :
BioTopes / BioChores
L’instabilité créée par les activités débordantes des hommes exige l’émergence d’une « conscience biosphérique ». « L’absence de futur a déjà commencé » et « la fin du monde » se pose comme une forme de fabulation mythique, dans l’imaginaire contemporain. Comment apprendre à être touchés par cette situation ? Comment réinventer notre lien avec la terre/Terre ?
Quand Deleuze et Guattari écrivent dans Mille Plateaux que « le territoire serait l’effet de l’art » et « l’artiste le premier homme qui dresse une borne ou fait une marque », ils visent ce lien fondamental des hommes avec la terre et leur effort inlassable de s’y repérer et de le rendre habitable. Autrement dit, l’action des créateurs s’apparente à ce qui produit des changements dans des biotopes et qui les fait tendre vers de nouveaux équilibres.
Ce geste de réinvention reviendrait à inclure les humains dans les biotopes écologiques. Les descriptions de biotopes omettent de mentionner l’homme parmi les vivants, tels les champignons, les bactéries, les végétaux, les animaux, qui peuplent les écosystèmes, lesquels conservent leurs propriétés grâce à ces communautés diverses qui entretiennent une multitude de relations et d’échanges.
Or, pour intégrer les humains dans les biotopes, il faudrait penser selon l’image d’un bio-chore. En effet, le topos grec renvoie à une compréhension statique et délimitée de l’espace, tandis que la chora représente elle le lieu du devenir de l’être humain, sa matrice et son empreinte. Cette compréhension relationnelle de l’espace fait de la chora le lieu du « croître-ensemble des choses dans la concrétude du monde sensible. » (A. Berque). En devenant biochore, le biotope s’ouvre à la question du sens et des possibles, au travail créatif où se forge le commun de toutes les formes de vie, la forme humaine en interaction avec toutes les autres.
Comment travailler à un imaginaire qui inclut les hommes comme agents participant au même titre que les autres vivants à la production et aux soins d’un écosystème ? Comment un BioTope / BioChore peut-il accueillir d’autres communautés dans ses processus ?

The Canadian winner will be one of only eight artists worldwide to be awarded the art community’s coveted prize to live and work at the Glenfiddich Distillery in Dufftown, Scotland. The three-month residency, valued at $20,000 CDN per artist, represents our commitment to the arts and the communities it serves.
Now in its 15th year internationally and 13th in Canada, the Glenfiddich® Artists in Residence Prize attracts over 150 submissions across Canada from the visual arts. The prize covers the cost of travel, living expenses and materials throughout the residency. From the submissions, the jury creates a list of ten finalists from which curator Andy Fairgrieve selects the winner.

Chaque année depuis 1991, l’École nationale supérieure d’art de Bourges reçoit de jeunes artistes en résidence, avec le soutien financier de la Direction Régionale des Affaires Culturelles et du Conseil Régional du Centre-Val de Loire.
Ces résidences ont pour but de permettre à de jeunes artistes français ou étrangers de réaliser un projet de recherche personnelle en lien avec l’école, ses enseignements, ses étudiants ou tout autre partenaire extérieur. Beyond workspace, regular gatherings, outings, public events, open studios, and visits from curators are organized. Administrative and peer support is provided for all participating artists. Unlike many other residency programs, Triangle does not emphasize professionalization or specific outcomes but rather allows artists space, context and community within which to focus on ideas, research and process.
International and US-based artists or collectives working in any medium or discipline may apply. Finalists are chosen by a jury of artists and curators. Ideal candidates show significant promise and dedication to their work and are at a moment in which access to studio space and a supportive community in NYC will be particularly meaningful and transformative to their practice.
Through our open call program free studio space is provided and residents are responsible for housing, travel, visa, materials, etc. Triangle’s staff can assist accepted artists with recommendations for accommodation or suggestions of outside funding opportunities to apply for. All residents are expected to spend a minimum of 15 hours a week working in their studio.

ARNA’s vision is for The Avian Kingdom to become the world’s first UNESCO biosphere area with Culture as the fourth dimension of sustainability. The main aim for the project is to let the participating artists work processes inspire children, living in connection to a future UNESCO biosphere area, to see their home area with open minds.

Every winter from January through March, creative individuals and collaborative groups are awarded the gift of time and space at our beautiful Arts Center in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains near Sisters, Oregon, for month-long residencies.
Residencies are open to national and international artists in any discipline including 2-D, 3-D, installation, film, digital, photography, music, dance, theater, and literary, as well as creative thinkers in engineering, design, and the sciences, who have emerged and established themselves beyond university training. Caldera also accommodates parent-artists. In 2016, we are also opening additional residency opportunities to culinary artists.
APPLICATIONS
Applications for 2016 are now open through June 15, 2016. The applications process must be completed online through submittable.com. Apply here.
Those artists who wish to apply as collaborators must submit under the collaboration category. Mature, as well as emerging artists, are encouraged to apply. Artists in the United States, US citizens abroad, and international artists are eligible. Proposals for creative residencies must be compatible with available working studio spaces, facilities, and resources.

SELECTION PROCESS
Panels meet in late summer to review applications and invitations are made in early September. Artistic merit and promise are the basis for selections. While it is not required, an embrace of how art and nature communicate is encouraged at Caldera.
A panel of fellow artists and art professionals chooses 21-36 artists for residences each year. The panel changes annually in order to keep the program dynamic. Final awards of residencies are at the discretion of Caldera. In some special instances, artists are invited to participate without submitting an application.
Depending on funding, Caldera may make stipends available to attending residents. For more information about stipends, contact Elizabeth Quinn. Residents are responsible for food, travel, materials, and other expenses.
LIVING ENVIRONMENT
Residents are provided a private cabin (two walk-up log cabins and five A-frame cabins available) with sleeping loft, living room/work area, kitchenette, bathroom, and a porch overlooking Link Creek or with a view of Blue Lake from their windows. Cabins are heated by woodstove (with chopped wood provided) and electric heat. The kitchens have a coffeepot, two-burner stove, microwave, small refrigerator, dishes, and pots and pans. Once a week, dinner provided by Caldera, is shared as a group.
There is very little cell service at Caldera. Dependable service is a 20-minute drive away in Sisters. A landline is available to residents. A phone card is required for long-distance calls. Wi-Fi is available throughout the Hearth Building, studios, and cabins.
We regret that pets are not allowed. Caldera is a smoke-free environment.
Overnight accommodations are limited to invited residents only. Artists with children and a caretaker are the only exception. Studio time and teaching and presentation opportunities are only for artists invited through the application process. Accommodations for visitors are available in the local area community and range from 10 – 16 miles from Caldera.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Residents are given 24-hour access to studios and the time and space to create.
They have access to the Hearth Building where there is rehearsal and performance space, a mixing board, sound booth, speakers, a projector and large screen, and a well-equipped commercial kitchen. There is also shared access to wet and dry studios that house a darkroom, two kilns, 18” x 36” etching press, and large blank walls.
By design, residents form a small community of 7–12 artists, depending on the group. Collaboration and exchange is encouraged.
Writers and others not needing an expansive space, work in their A-frames, which contain a large table and living area. A shared loft space in the Hearth Building is optional for writers and digital artists.
Visual artists work in one of Caldera’s two studios. Campbell Studio is a semi-private space that holds two studios for visual artists of all kinds. One side of Campbell Studio has two kilns, drying shelves, a work table, sink and counter; the other side has large walls, a work table, a large and small sink and counters. Studio B has large walls, a sink, counter, work table, a darkroom and the etching press. Both studios include natural light and large loft spaces above the main floor.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Artists are not required to finish a project during their residency, but they share their work with the local community at our Open Studios events at the end of each month. Open Studios are held at our Arts Center on the last Saturday of every residency. They are free and open to the public.
Artists are also encouraged to do outreach projects with Caldera youth and in neighboring schools in the area. There are opportunities to present work or to create workshops for youth.Occasionally calls for applications for teaching residencies are announced at Caldera. Situés au cœur de la forêt boréale, les Ateliers Topaz sont à la fois un lieu de retraite et un centre de création pour artistes, toutes disciplines confondues. L’endroit parfait pour la réflexion, l’évasion. Le groupement d’édifices fait 900 mètres carrés et repose sur 14 hectares face à la route Transcanadienne. Il donne sur un étang de deux hectares. Topaz c’est la « Route 66 » dans le nord de l’Ontario. L’endroit, modeste et nostalgique, rappelle aussi les grandes épopées de la colonisation francophone de l’Ontario. Ces studios de création ou cette résidence d’artistes, endroit idéal pour les arts visuels, sont situés au centre du Canada, à mi-chemin entre l’Atlantique et le Pacifique, là où les étoiles deviennent les topazes de la nuit.
Ce qu’on offre
D’abord l’espace et, l’espace de travail déterminés selon les besoins de l’artiste. Les espaces polyvalents permettent d’y faire de la peinture, de la sculpture, de l’installation, etc. L’atelier de menuiserie, le Bar à clou, est équipé des outils de base. Un magasin d’objets trouvés est disponible autant pour l’inspiration que pour l’utilisation dans une œuvre. Le peintre apporte ses pinceaux, le musicien son instrument et l’écrivain son ordi.
Les personnes qui séjournent aux Ateliers Topaz jouissent de l’accès à la cuisine et sont responsables de préparer leurs repas. Toutefois Laurent peut aussi leur cuisiner de petits plats typiquement canadiens-français aux besoins ou aux désirs. Topaz possède deux suites avec lit double et une chambre avec lit simple. Chacune possède sa salle de toilette avec douche. Ces installations évoquent admirablement le style des années 1960. Pour la baignade, le Lac des Cœurs se situe à deux kilomètres à l’est. Pour le canotage ou la pèche, la rivière Opasatika est deux kilomètres à l’ouest. Pour se déplacer, il y a de vieux vélos ou la marche. Pour un frais très raisonnable, votre hôte peut aussi vous conduire ou organiser un déplacement vers Kapuskasing à l’est ou vers Hearst à l’ouest. Les matériaux d’artistes ne sont pas disponibles dans la région. Il est donc important de faire vos achats avant votre séjour, à moins que vous travailliez avec des matériaux que l’on peut se procurer dans des magasins ordinaires ou même en nature.

Hammond Stadium Park Public Art Call 2016: Deadline February 1
Canadian artists and artist teams are invited to submit an Expression of Interest to enter into a juried competition to create new permanent public artwork. The objective of the public artwork is to enhance the resident and visitor experience at Hammond Stadium Park through the placement of a new piece of public art that celebrates the history of sport and the unique heritage character of this park. Hammond is a place with a long historical association with the sport of baseball and the cedar sawmilling industry in Port Hammond. The year-round training facility for minor baseball is located in the historic community of Hammond. Built in 1951, Hammond Stadium was refurbished in 2014. Today the Hammond Stadium Park also includes a community centre, basketball court, tennis court, soccer field and outdoor pool. Deadline for submission is February 1, 2016 at 2:00PM (Local Time).
Artists are encouraged to familiarize themselves with Hammond Stadium Park by attending a non-mandatory site tour led by City staff on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 1:00PM (local time). Artists will have an opportunity to learn more and ask questions. The Stadium is located at 20601 Westfield Avenue in Maple Ridge, BC and interested parties will meet at the main entrance of Hammond Community Centre.
The location of designed artwork is limited to the accessible areas outside of the playing field that includes the perimeter chain link fence & posts, paved concrete apron, asphalt path, score keepers cage, light posts and landscape between path and parking (see details in full RFEI on the BC Bid website). The proposed work will utilize the existing parameters of the site, accommodate baseball needs and allow for community engagement as part of the proposal. The artwork will need to be fabricated and installed by December 30, 2016.

PUBLIC ART COMMISSION – TOWN OF PELHAM
Public Art Installation as a Gateway Feature
Call for Credentials from Public Artists, Stage 1 of a 2 Stage Process
The Town of Pelham is issuing this Call to Public Artists (“Call”) to design, produce and oversee the installation of a public art commission for the East Fonthill Mixed-Use Centre.
Building upon the “Key Downtown Strategies”, the plan for the East Fonthill Mixed-Use Centre (outlined in the solid line on the key map) is important to the creation of a “Greater Downtown Fonthill” which envisions historic Canboro Road (Regional Road 20) as a mixed-use corridor connecting the villages of Fenwick, Fonthill and Ridgeville. As such, the Mixed-Use Centre will be a vibrant, pedestrian-oriented node, containing retail stores, a senior’s residence, a medical facility, a community centre and a public urban square. Through the planning and design of the streets, trails and open space, the Mixed-Use Centre will be connected to and integrated with the historic downtown area, where the Town Hall is located, and the new neighbourhoods that are to be developed to the south.
The public art is to be situated outdoors and near the southeast corner of Regional Road 20 and Rice Road (outlined in the dashed line on the key map). In this prominent location, anchored by a naturalized stormwater management pond, the commissioned art is to serve as a Town of Pelham gateway feature. The landscaping in the adjacent pond area will include native trees, shrubs and perennials as well as riparian plantings along the water’s edge. Along the top of the pond, a pedestrian walkway, an overlook area and seating will allow viewing opportunities as well as placement of interpretive signage.
STAGE 1 – CALL FOR ARTIST CREDENTIALS
This Call for Credentials is the first of a two stage process. For this stage of the “Call”, Submission Requirements are outlined below.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- The deadline for submissions is January 20, 2016 @ 2pm.
- Applicants must be professional artists: recognized as such by their peers, have specialized training in the field, and have a history of public exhibition.
- Artist submissions must include:
- a cover letter indicating the artist’s interest and contact information (artist’s name, address, daytime telephone and fax number, evening telephone number (including area codes), email address and website address;
- an outline of the artist’s qualifications and experience;
- a PDF file (max. 5Mb) containing a CV and 6 embedded images of past work. Each image to clearly identify: title of artwork, location, media, size and other relevant information. For commissioned works, indicate commissioning body and reason for work; and,
- name and contact information for 2 project references.
EVALUATION OF SUBMISSIONS
- The submissions will be evaluated by an Art Selection Panel. The Panel will be comprised of a public art advisor, visual arts professionals and a landscape architect.
- Submissions will be evaluated on the basis of the following:
- Strong, contemporary, innovative and original work
- Demonstrated experience of the required scale, and permanent, sustainable public artworks
- Confirmation of ability to work within a team environment
- Proven record and ability to complete projects on time and within budgets (either public art commissions or museum and gallery projects).
- Based on their evaluation, the Panel will provide recommendations to the Town for the selection of short-listed artists to advance to the next stage of the “Call”.
- Three short-listed artists will be invited to participate in Stage 2 – to develop Public Art Proposals based on a Competition Brief.

STAGE 2 – PUBLIC ART PROPOSAL
The second stage of the ‘Call’ will involve the submission of a Public Art Proposal. The three short-listed artists will be invited to submit a Public Art Proposal based on a Competition Brief to be provided. Each short listed artist will be paid $2,000 to develop their Public Art Proposals.
Public Art Proposal will identify the best location for the public art installation in the area, include concept ideas for the Gateway Feature and include the word “Pelham”. Ongoing maintenance cost of the public art installation is to be estimated and included in the Public Art Proposals.
The Art Selection Panel will select an artist who will be commissioned by the Town of Pelham to develop the public art and to work with the project consulting team responsible for the planning, design and construction administration of the Mixed Use Centre.
It is expected that the art installation will:
- have aesthetic qualities and be visually engaging
- serve as a unique gateway to the new centre
- have a day and night time presence
- be visible and identifiable from a number of vantage points for pedestrians and motorists
- be mindful of public safety
- be durable and suitable for Pelham’s climate; and,
- require minimal maintenance, be readily maintainable and age well over time.
BUDGET AND TIMING
The budget for the public art installation is in the order of $200,000 (exclusive of taxes) and is to include all fees, fabrication and installation costs. The project is expected to be completed by the summer of 2016.

Oeno Gallery’s Sculpture Garden at Huff Estates opened on June 25, 2011 as a place dedicated to the exhibition of world class outdoor sculpture. The 4 acre garden has become a prized feature of the property and has received thousands of visitors to date.
The gallery invites artists to submit proposals for the garden’s 5th exhibition year. The property offers a wide variety of sites for placement. Areas to consider include the sculpture garden proper, the outdoor area by the winery, the zone immediately surrounding the gallery, and the pond (limestone quarry). Proposals will be reviewed and selected by the gallery.
Sculptures must be original, durable, and safe for viewing by the public in an unsupervised natural area. They must be able to withstand year-round weather conditions and tolerate strong winds. The work must also be available for sale. The artist is responsible for the transportation, installation and removal of their work. What is the competition about?
MARCO, Museo de Arte Contemporánea de Vigo, 49 Nord 6 Est—FRAC Lorraine, Metz and SFKM, Sogn og Fjordane Kunstmuseum, Førde have organized the Award for Young Curators. This award gives participants the opportunity to submit a topic of research and reflection which is of personal interest, and the possibility to bring it to fruition in the project venues at MARCO, at 49 Nord 6 Est-FRAC Lorraine, and at SFKM.
How does it work?
–The proposal must be within the field of contemporary artistic creation and is open to any creative forms.
–Experimental proposals including a collaborative dimension or a collective practice (with communities, social groups, multidisciplinary participants, etc.) are welcomed.
–The project may be accompanied or constituted by a program of activities in order to open a new space of reflection regarding the treated topic. The project may include works already in the Collection of FRAC Lorraine and the Collections of SFKM (to be discovered during the residency in Førde).
–The winning project will have a maximum budget of 20,000 EUR for each venue.
–The project will open at the first venue early in 2017.
Who can apply?
All curators born in 1975 and later are eligible to enter the competition. If the entry is a group project, one person will be chosen from that group to represent it and act as a mediator. Curators will not be allowed to participate as artists in the projects. No more than one project per entrant will be accepted. Entries must be previously unpublished and must provide for the participation of two or more artists or contributors.
The curator of the winning project will receive the sum of 6,500 EUR, tax included, as an honorarium. His/her travel expenses (for the residencies and installation periods in the three institutions) will be reimbursed, upon presentation of appropriate supporting documents, for up to 5,000 EUR, including taxes.

CONTEXTE
Le Rassemblement national du CCA/ACC prévu au Yukon se déroulera sur le territoire traditionnel des Premières nations Kwanlin Dün et Ta’an Kwäch’än, du 28 au 30 septembre 2016. Des organismes à vocation artistique du Yukon, en partenariat avec les communautés autochtones, accueilleront cet événement. Cette rencontre favorisera l’établissement de liens entre les artistes ou commissaires autochtones du Yukon et ceux provenant de diverses régions d’un territoire mieux connu sous le nom de Canada. L’accent sera mis sur le partage des connaissances et la présentation d’artistes autochtones du Yukon dans le cadre de cercles collégiaux, de discussions dirigées et d’expositions. La thématique générale s’inspire de la métaphore du feu communal, qui réchauffe et nourrit, et du temps centré sur le partage, le repos et l’écoute.
Le Centre des arts du Yukon Arts mettra à la disposition de l’équipe commissariale une salle d’exposition (4 200 pi2) de catégorie A. Les mentor et mentoré sélectionnés auront accès à la collection permanente d’œuvres d’art du Yukon, à la collection du Centre des arts du Yukon et, au besoin, à la collection d’art autochtone contemporain du ministère des Affaires autochtones et développement du Nord, à Gatineau (Québec).

Fondé en 2005, le Collectif des commissaires autochtones/Aboriginal Curatorial Collective est un organisme national à vocation artistique qui soutient, promeut et représente publiquement les commissaires et artistes autochtones. Le CCA/ACC honore les connaissances autochtones à travers ses pratiques commissariales et artistiques. Nous partageons les recherches novatrices et les discours critiques relatifs aux arts et aux cultures autochtones. Nous créons un espace équitable pour les communautés artistiques autochtones dans un esprit de collaboration et d’échange. Le rassemblement prévu au Yukon constituera le septième événement de ce genre organisé par le CCA/ACC depuis 2005. Les colloques précédents se sont déroulés à Montréal (2014), Toronto (2011), Ottawa (2009), Vancouver (2008), Saskatoon (2007) et Winnipeg (2006).
Avec sa vue à flanc de falaise sur le centre-ville de Whitehorse, le Centre des arts du Yukon est le principal espace de diffusion des arts visuels et de la scène du territoire. Le CAY accueille des œuvres novatrices provenant de diverses régions du pays. Sa galerie d’art publique présente des expositions toute l’année, mettant en vedette l’art contemporain du Nord et du Canada. Le CAY tend à être un modèle de développement des arts dans le Nord et un stimulus pour un territoire vibrant et créatif.
CRITÈRES D’ADMISSIBILITÉ
Les candidats doivent être d’ascendance autochtone, métisse ou inuite. Les étudiants inscrits à temps plein à un programme de 1er cycle ou de cycles supérieurs ne sont pas admissibles à l’appel de propositions. Les artistes et commissaires professionnels reconnus par leurs pairs et qui ont complété un apprentissage de base, formel ou non, dans leur(s) discipline(s) disposent ici d’une occasion unique pour se faire valoir. Les dossiers de candidats du Yukon qui possèdent des antécédents, reconnus officiellement ou non, dans des « pratiques connexes » au commissariat seront aussi pris en considération.

La thématique de l’exposition nécessite l’inclusion d’artistes autochtones du Yukon, que la proposition fasse appel ou non à la participation d’autres artistes provenant du Nord ou du Sud du Canada.

une proposition d’un maximum de 1000 mots, avec description de votre démarche à titre de commissaire, de votre connaissance des artistes autochtones du Yukon et des moyens utilisés pour réaliser votre projet en lien avec les communautés locales et nationales;

CONDITIONS ET RESSOURCES FINANCIÈRES
Le budget total de l’exposition s’élève à un maximum de 10 000 $ et comprend les cachets d’artistes, ainsi que les frais de transport des œuvres, de promotion et de production d’une publication. Honoraires du mentor/commissaire : 3 500 $, plus les frais de déplacement (1 500 $) Honoraires du mentoré (Yukon) : 1 500 $

PROCESSUS D’EXAMEN ET DE SÉLECTION
Un jury constitué de pairs autochtones, ainsi que de représentants du CAY et du CCA/ACC examinera les propositions. La sélection s’effectuera en tenant compte de la qualité de la proposition de commissariat, de la disponibilité du mentor et des preuves de la capacité des candidats à mener à terme le projet proposé.
CANDIDATS RETENUS
Les candidats sélectionnés dans le cadre du présent appel seront invités à examiner d’autres possibilités de financement afin d’augmenter l’ampleur de cet événement, p. ex. les subventions des gouvernements fédéral, provincial ou territorial. Ils pourront disposer de lettres d’appui qui faciliteront leurs démarches.

La galerie La Box est l’un principaux outils pédagogiques de l’École nationale supérieure d’art de Bourges. Tous les ans, elle initie des actions en lien avec les enseignements de l’école en produisant une dizaine d’expositions d’artistes français ou étrangers. Depuis plus de 10 ans, elle confie une partie de sa programmation à de jeunes commissaires invités. Choisis puis suivis par l’équipe pédagogique de l’école, les curateurs développent un programme expérimental, intégrant la présence et la participation des étudiants, permettant à ces derniers d’être au plus près des acteurs de la scène contemporaine et de se confronter à la réalité de l’élaboration d’un projet d’exposition.
Une partie du programme d’expositions de la galerie La Box – janvier – mars – 2017 est confiée à un(e) curateur(trice), un(e) critique ou un collectif. Le projet doit répondre aux préoccupations de l’Ensa. Il n’y a pas de projet d’exposition prédéfini. Le rythme reste à l’initiative du (de la) curateur(trice) invité(e). Il est possible d’imaginer plusieurs expositions, ou une seule évolutive. Le commissariat est encouragé à proposer des échanges constructifs avec les partenaires locaux de l’Ensa (Emmetrop, Bandits-Mages, Ville de Bourges, collèges, lycées, etc.).

The Artists-In-Residence Laboratory at the CCA Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw invites art professionals such as curators, organisers, researchers and art managers to apply for a one-month long residency. The notion of “re-directing” refers here to a need to facilitate collaborations in-between art initiatives, which due to geopolitical conditions hasn’t had many opportunities to collaborate thus far. The Re-Directing: East Curatorial Residency is a peer-learning workshop, a curatorial seminar, extended site exploration and a research opportunity for a group of four to six individuals together with the CCA team and local participants. The participants are expected to share their experience and understanding of respective artistic and socio-political contexts, as well as to prepare themselves for participation in this year’s exploration of the topic “The Making of Collective Agencies.” This curatorial residency is a platform for developing a possible working collaboration with the CCA Ujazdowski Castle and other parties concerned in the years to come.
During the month long residency we want to (self) reflect on the curatorial practices that take place outside of formal institutions and which draw inspiration from critical, social, and collective modes of action for the commonwealth. The starting point will be to look at examples of social practices (e.g. cooperative work, like the Indonesian “gotong royong,” or the already non-existent Polish “communal work,” which has been replaced by modern forms of the “exchange platforms”), artistic (e.g. activities supporting the self-governance of artistic circles and also “alternative” institutions and forms of presentation and creation of art) and beyond, or post-artistic practices within politics, economics, and social life (protests, cultural resistance, informal education). We will utilize the presentations as well as the experiences of the participants to talk about the different strategies and consequences of entangling curatorial and artistic practices in collective actions and implementing within their frames political commentary regarding the position of specific collectives. The question of who and what collectives are, on behalf of those and within the frames of those which artistic statements are created will constitute another important issue.

Selection will be based on the professional excellence of the applicant’s work and their plans for sharing the benefits of the exchange with artists and institutions in their home country / site of activities. Due to the programme agenda aiming at creating collaboration opportunities beyond the already existing cultural policies, we do not accept applications from individuals residing and working within the EU. Applicants must have sufficient knowledge of English to function independently and communicate with the A-I-R Laboratory staff and other residents.
We will be offering:
–Individual living space connected with the working space
–A grant of 3200 PLN / approx. 800 USD
–Reimbursement of travel costs
–Organizing a customised programme of lectures, presentations and study visits in Warsaw and beyond
–Organizing the final seminar including participants’ presentations created collaboratively during the residency
