La Centrale galerie Powerhouse est un centre d’artistes autogéré voué à la diffusion et au développement des pratiques féministes pluridisciplinaires. Nous nous engageons à soutenir des pratiques et des artistes peu visibles dans les institutions culturelles dominantes, et ce, à différentes étapes de leur carrière. Notre programmation s’attache aux féminismes qui entrent en dialogue avec l’intersectionnalité et la justice sociale et est construite sur la base de la non-hiérarchie et du consensus par les comités de sélection formés de membres actif.ve.s du centre.
La Centrale invite les artistes et commissaires à tous niveaux de leur carrière à soumettre des projets d’expositions, de commissariats, de performances et projets numériques en lien avec le mandat du centre. Nous payons les droits d’expositions et les honoraires selon les taux recommandés par CARFAC. Nous soutenons aussi financièrement les artistes et professionnel.le.s qui habitent hors Montréal.
NOTE : À cause de la pandémie et des reports d’expositions et d’activités que celle-ci a provoquée, les comités de sélection devront malheureusement sélectionner un nombre de projets inférieur aux années précédentes.

Culture Trois-Rivières invite les artistes professionnels et de la relève, les collectifs d’artistes et les commissaires en art actuel à soumettre un projet d’exposition en vue de la programmation 2022-2023. Avec deux centres d’expositions, un volet en art public et ses différentes actions sur le territoire, Culture Trois-Rivières travaille activement à susciter l’intérêt pour l’art visuel et à le développer pour qu’il soit dans le quotidien des gens. Contribuant à faire de Trois-Rivières un lieu incontournable pour le développement des arts visuels, ces lieux d’exposition permettent à la population de découvrir gratuitement et d’apprécier le talent d’artistes d’ici et d’ailleurs, professionnels et de la relève.
Le dossier doit inclure :Démarche artistique;

1 La documentation visuelle fournie n’a pas obligatoirement à présenter les œuvres qui seront exposées mais doit refléter le caractère du projet d’exposition soumis.
Les dossiers sont jugés selon la qualité et la pertinence de la démarche artistique et du projet proposé en regard de la programmation annuelle. Les artistes sélectionnés reçoivent des redevances conformes aux recommandations du CARFAC (droits d’exposition, droits d’auteur, etc.)
Situé en plein cœur du centre-ville, le Centre d’exposition Raymond-Lasnier est une composante importante de la Maison de la culture de Trois-Rivières. Son mandat est de présenter des productions d’artistes professionnels et de la relève d’ici et d’ailleurs, des expositions thématiques, collectives et événementielles, tout en favorisant les apprentissages par des activités qui démystifient l’art contemporain et actuel.
L’Espace Pauline-Julien est un espace de diffusion dédié aux arts visuels et médiatiques. Son mandat est d’offrir une programmation en arts visuels et numériques ainsi que des projections (courts métrages et films sur l’art).

OUVERT AUX ARTISTES CANADIENS SEULEMENT
La Bande Vidéo invite les artistes canadiens en arts médiatiques à créer une oeuvre vidéo d’une durée maximale de 2 minutes. Seront privilégiées les oeuvres à caractère expérimental ou d’animation qui explorent le langage vidéographique de manière originale. Les oeuvres sélectionnées seront diffusées par la suite dans le cadre d’un programme spécial.
Plongés dans une crise sociale et sanitaire mondiale sans précédent depuis le printemps 2020, les abonnés aux réseaux sociaux en ligne sont inondés chaque jour de chroniques filmées, d’exposés faits maison et de performances artistiques aux mises en scène bricolées qui abordent de manière réaliste ou pastichielle des sujets de réflexion et de révolte imposés par la pandémie : isolement, discours conspirationnistes, peur de la maladie, solidarité, anxiété, solitude, endettement, etc. Plus que jamais nous avons vu comment de façon compulsive, rafraîchissante et vivante, la vidéo s’impose comme le lieu nécessaire de l’exutoire, du défoulement ou de l’humour; du drame ou de la beauté.
Forte d’une tradition dissidente depuis ses tout débuts, La Bande Vidéo cherche avec cet appel à renouer avec certaines de ses origines où furent particulièrement encouragés les voix discordantes et les regards corrosifs et sans concession sur les tendances du jour et les tragédies. En regard de l’histoire artistique de notre centre, et dans le contexte actuel qui nous essouffle, La Bande Vidéo veut exposer le médium vidéographique comme l’outil de la révolution et du débordement; de la complainte et du narcissisme. L’instrument de la réinvention du monde ou celui de l’inutile.
Par cet appel à la thématique ouverte mais inspirée, aux contraintes artistiques absentes, hormis la durée imposée dans le processus et la durée de diffusion, La Bande Vidéo veut stimuler la création vidéographique d’ici et consigner dans un contexte plus serré l’inventivité d’une vidéographie professionnelle actuelle. Depuis la fange boueuse, où les démiurges unissent le duct tape et la broche pour donner vie aux personnages d’animation, de partout jusqu’aux espaces expérimentaux où la lumière et la couleur mêlées deviennent langage, nous voulons voir jaillir toute la diversité des oeuvres nouvelles les plus prometteuses générées par cette année de tous les dangers.

Les oeuvres soumises doivent avoir été produites entièrement
ou en partie au cours de l’année 2020. Elles doivent être terminées en date du 6 décembre.
Des droits de diffusion conformes aux normes en vigueur seront offerts aux artistes dont l’oeuvre a été sélectionnée.

SAVAC is pleased to announce the 14th edition of our long-standing experimental film and video program MONITOR, which will be programmed by Rasha Salti. MONITOR is dedicated to the presentation of experimental short films and videos that initiate dialogue around the shifting nature of politics, economies and landscapes across the Global South and its diasporas. For it’s 14th edition, we invite artists and filmmakers to submit independent and innovative short films and videos that explore the aesthetic and form of the moving image and its relation to narrative. MONITOR 14 encourages new, experimental and risk-taking work that challenges the viewer’s active engagement. Selected works will be screened in June 2021 in Toronto, Canada and subsequently tour across Canada and South Asia.
Guidelines
Works must be under 20 minutes and produced in or after 2018. Submissions from first time directors are welcome. Artist fees will be paid. Submissions must include all of the following:

Rasha Salti is a researcher, writer, and curator of art and film. She lives and works between Beirut and Berlin. Salti co-curated several film programs for institutions dedicated to art and film, including the Lincoln Center, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Jeu de Paume museum. She also worked as a programmer for several film festivals, including the Abu Dhabi International Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival. Since 2017, she is the commissioning editor for La Lucarne at ArteFrance, a program dedicated to experimental documentary. Her curatorial projects have been exhibited at museums worldwide including the MACBA (Barcelona), the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Berlin), Museo de la Solidaridad Salvador Allende (Santiago de Chile), and the Sursock Museum in Beirut.
SAVAC (South Asian Visual Arts Centre) is a non-profit, nomadic artist-run organization dedicated to fostering imaginative thought among artists and curators of colour and integrating them into the Canadian contemporary arts ecology through frameworks of self-representation.

AKA supports the creation and development of artist driven initiatives and emerging practices that speak to, reflect and encourage dialogue in our culturally diverse communities. This includes work in all media by local, national and international artists. Our venues consist of a street-level gallery, billboard and multi-use screening and performance event space; we also source off-site locations for site-specific projects.
AKA accepts submissions on an ongoing basis for project/exhibition proposals that consider AKA’s history and setting.

Southern Alberta Art Gallery (SAAG) Submission Guidelines Exhibition proposals are accepted throughout the year and reviews are ongoing. Selection is carried out over a period of time through studio visits and correspondence with artists and curators in whom the gallery has an interest. Those interested in proposing their work to SAAG are asked to include with their submission: a curriculum vitae, an artist statement and/or letter of intent, a wide selection of images, and other relevant support material. Artists are also invited to give an illustrated lecture on their work in conjunction with the University of Lethbridge Faculty of Fine Art during the academic year. The Southern Alberta Art Gallery pays CARFAC fees, shipping and insurance, and often seeks funding to produce catalogues for the exhibition. All publications, including our quarterly newsletter GALLERY (which discusses and reproduces work by exhibiting artists along with other programming), are exchanged with other institutions in Canada and abroad.

The festival takes place from 21 to 25 April 2021. For five days, Osnabrück will become an international and trend-setting platform for media art and a meeting place for artists, curators, gallerists and students. The exhibition at Kunsthalle Osnabrück will be on view until 30 May 2021.
Our selection committee and curators will review the submissions in the coming months and develop the programme for the upcoming festival. The full programme will be available on our homepage www.emaf.de from mid-March 2021.
At the festival, two juries will select the winners of the “EMAF Media Art Award of German Filmcritics (VDFK)”, the “Dialogue Award” given by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the “EMAF Award” for a trend-setting work in Media Art.

Amant Foundation is launching an Open Call for its NY Residency Program, a newly established international studio residency program beginning in September of 2021, with three iterations—Fall, Winter, and Spring. We host artists at all stages of their careers and across a wide array of disciplines from the visual arts, literature, performance, filmmaking, and cultural theory.
The program is committed to providing the residents with the full experience of living and working in New York by facilitating their connections to major institutions and key figures in the city’s world-renowned professional art scene. During their period at Amant, artists are expected to develop and promote their projects on their own terms. We also strongly encourage residents participate in Amant´s own on-going in-house programs and activities, especially through the sharing of ideas internally and publicly in various formats. Amant also highly values and promotes openness to cross-disciplinary conversations.
The Residency:
The Amant complex includes individual studios, exhibition galleries, a library/reading room, a café/bookstore as well as a fully outfitted performance space suitable for rehearsals and other activities. There is also a large communal meeting and dining area with access to a courtyard garden. The residency covers round-trip economy flights and airport transfers to NY and a monthly stipend to offset the costs of accommodation, transport, day-to-day expenses, and a research grant for executing projects. Please be advised the Amant studios are not residential.

Dans le cadre de son 50e anniversaire, Vidéographe propose une résidence au cours de laquelle des artistes établis/mi-carrière et des artistes émergents seront jumelé.e.s pour produire de nouvelles œuvres. Vidéographe reconnaît la richesse de la diversité culturelle, sexuelle, identitaire et linguistique québécoise et canadienne. Nous encourageons ainsi les personnes issues de groupes traditionnellement sous-représentés, de minorités ou de groupes marginalisés à proposer des projets.
Conditions de réalisation
Chaque artiste recevra des honoraires de production de 5 000 $. Un budget de production pour la location d’équipements et d’experts externes (ex : mixage sonore, étalonnage) sera également alloué à chaque duo. Les œuvres seront produites en 2021-2022. Elles seront par la suite mises en circulation via notre service de distribution et intégrées à la collection. Les artistes conserveront les droits sur leur œuvre.

Regal Road Bridge Enhancement

The City of Burlington invites professional artists to submit design proposals for a series of laser-cut steel panels that will enhance the bridge located on Regal Road (Burlington, Ontario). Artists are asked to submit a proposal for ten (10) designs that will be used to produce custom laser-cut panels that will be installed on the concrete sidewalls of the bridge. The designs should be related in theme and aesthetic so that the panels work together as a series. The successful artist will be awarded $6,000 for their designs. All costs and tasks associated with the fabrication, installation and maintenance of the panels will be paid for by the City of Burlington.

M HKA – Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp and Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, are pleased to announce a Research Fellowship for an artist, curator, writer or thinker. The research grant will facilitate a period of research for up to 12 months, leading to manifestations of the research in two projects presented by M HKA and Van Abbemuseum respectively in 2021: Rewinding Internationalism: The 1990s and Today (Van Abbemuseum) and Eurasia: A Landscape of Mutability (M HKA). Both exhibitions take place within the context of the four-year programme Our Many Europes, by the museum confederation L’Internationale.
We are looking for a speculative, ambitious research project that can speak across and between the frameworks of the two exhibitions. Researchers are welcome—though not required—to look to the archives, collections or local context of M HKA and the Van Abbemuseum as starting points for the research. We are looking for a research project that offers dialogical perspectives to analyse, question and form methodologies for exploring the designated research areas.
Research Areas and Methodologies
We invite proposals that address the following research areas and methodologies:
-Critical engagement with the constructs of internationalism, transnationalism, globalisation and Eurasia.
-A focus on microhistories, rather than master narratives that serve to illuminate the concepts, histories and visions explored in the research.
-Projects that consider or use the site of the exhibition to mobilise the research.
-Speculative thinking / practice in relation to the transhistorical, multipolarity and mutability.
-Cultural networks of exchange (historical, current or futuristic) that facilitate the exploration of the terms above.
About the Grant
Should they wish, researchers will be given open access to the museums’ archives and networks to be negotiated on an individual basis. They are expected to present an internal seminar for museum colleagues at the start of their research (either in person or online). Research proposals should identify and account for potential restrictions to the project caused by COVID-19. We similarly encourage imaginative, critical ways of working from / through distance. The research (as artistic project or curatorial proposal) will form part of the exhibitions Eurasia and Rewinding Internationalism. The grant consists of EUR 10,000 research fee + a maximum of EUR 5,000 production budget. Limited presentation budgets will be discussed separately with M HKA and the Van Abbemuseum.

EastEast magazine invites artists, researchers, scholars, thinkers, and writers to offer up projects and stories based around the theme of its upcoming issue, (no) borders.
A border is a real or imaginary line in space or in time that separates one object or phenomena from another. It is an invariable certainty dividing two “somethings.” Borders can be spatial, temporal, qualitative and quantitative, speculative.
The pandemic has made state borders much more tangible for everyone regardless of their status, but at the same time, it has enhanced the hierarchies that define who is allowed to cross which border. Today we see that many states are talking about full transparency and openness, but actually there is a trend towards tighter borders between countries. The world crisis reinforces both real and metaphysical, cultural and social barriers. The essence of the boundaries blurred by globalization is gaining strength again. If we look at history, all borders are constantly changing, lands are merging and getting split, gates are being set up and taken down. Borders function in a state of simultaneity; they are ghostlike, and yet more real than real.
What is the function and meaning of borders? Which borders are benign and which are malign? How can we cross real and imaginary borders? Who sets the borders? Is it possible to live in a world without borders? How can we overcome the borders of individualistic society? How do humans and nonhumans live within and without borders? EastEast is offering a platform for those willing to research these questions and experiment with the idea of (no) borders.
To participate in the open call, please send a 300-word abstract introducing your text or project to hi [arobas] easteast [point] world. The authors of three winning proposals will be invited to develop them into full-scale materials that will be published in EastEast in February 2021. Each finalist will receive an honorarium in the amount of 250 USD. At least five other authors will get a chance to have their materials featured in EastEast’s special sections.

EastEast is a bilingual (English and Russian) online magazine on history and contemporary culture. It is a nomadic home, a mixed language, a constellation of trade routes that carry data, ideas, flavours, and materials for constructing the future. The project was launched in July 2020 and changes its theme on a quarterly basis. EastEast’s inaugural issue was dedicated to Home, the current one is Dream. We feature essays, critical reflections, interviews, film-screenings, texts on material culture, music, and are open to many more experiments.
EastEast is published by the Moscow-based Cultural Creative Agency. CCA brings together an intellectual approach and aesthetic vision in order to build new ways of representation for cultures, countries, and their people. Its vision is to open up a cartography of solidarity across borders. While studying the diversity of human societies in time and space, CCA links the local and the global, the material and the spiritual, and the past and the present in a search for commonalities, offering various approaches to understanding and responding to contemporary challenges.

Le Musée régional de Rimouski se consacre à l’art contemporain, à l’histoire régionale et à ce qui lie la science aux pratiques sociétales. Le musée est un lieu d’échange; à la fois un catalyseur et un incubateur, il met en évidence les enjeux qui nous situent comme individus dans une communauté locale et globale.
Le Musée régional de Rimouski cherche une personne dynamique pourvue d’une vision stratégique. Elle est capable de motiver son équipe, a des connaissances en financement, des habiletés relationnelles, des capacités à entretenir de saines relations de travail avec ses partenaires et des habiletés à développer et à entretenir des liens de confiance avec la communauté. Elle saura démontrer une ouverture au débat d’idées et au partage des valeurs du milieu artistique.
La direction générale assume l’entière responsabilité de la gestion et la mobilisation de ses ressources humaines, matérielles et financières ainsi que la direction artistique et stratégique.
Salaire offert : Selon le traitement salarial en vigueur.

Appel de textes – À l’est de vos empires
La revue culturelle dédiée à la scène artistique de la ville de Québec À l’est de vos empires* est à la recherche de textes éclairés et perspicaces, intelligents et stimulants, mais également accessibles et réfléchis. Nous sommes intéressés par les textes critiques consacrés au domaine des arts visuels, mais aussi par les essais artistiques et les créations poétiques.
Nous raffolons de textes traitant de la théorie des arts et désirons également lire vos comptes rendus d’expositions et d’évènements se déroulant dans la capitale.
On demande aux auteur.rice.s intéressé.e.s de faire parvenir à l’adresse d’À l’est, alestdevosempires [arobas] gmail [point] com, une courte proposition de texte (100 mots), accompagnée d’un CV et d’une biographie succincte** (50 mots).
Nous encourageons la rédaction de textes d’une longueur de 500 mots, bien que nous soyons également ouvert.e.s à des formats novateurs adaptés à vos propositions artistiques ou poétiques originales. Un cachet de 50$ sera offert à nos contributeur.rice.s suite à la publication de leur texte. No. 102 – Dossier (Re)voir la peinture

[…] L’expression retour de la peinture est d’abord apparue dans les années 1980 autour de pratiques artistiques et d’activités critiques qui observaient un regain d’intérêt pour le pictural, alors que les décennies précédentes avaient été consacrées à l’immatérialité, à l’éphéméralité, à la corporalité. Pourtant, ce énième retour de la peinture mérite d’être déconstruit. D’une part, nombre de peintres contemporains s’intéressent aujourd’hui à ces questions qui sont prétendument étrangères à leur médium, en proposant des formes hybrides de création empruntant à l’installation, à l’art conceptuel ou à la performance. D’autre part, nombre d’artistes investissent les thèmes et les conventions de représentation de la peinture de manière critique. Ces artistes, souvent issus des communautés autochtones, noires ou de couleur, l’entrevoient comme un outil à mobiliser pour déconstruire l’homogénéité des discours en art. Dans les deux cas, la peinture se dresse contre une certaine orthodoxie, imposée par le médium lui-même ou par le milieu qui la diffuse.
La peinture actuelle s’articulerait dans ces trois moments : dans les questionnements de sa pratique, dans sa valorisation par la mise en exposition, et finalement dans son imbrication dans les rouages du marché de l’art. Plutôt que d’imaginer un retour à la peinture qui signalerait la résolution d’une fausse absence, vaut-il mieux la comprendre comme une expression du contemporain, qui nous inviterait à penser ses mouvements, ses mobilités et ses discours pluriels ? Que dit-on par la peinture ? Que nous dit-elle sur l’état du milieu de l’art ? Esse arts + opinions invite les auteurs et autrices à réfléchir aux conditions de cette visibilité. À quels impératifs esthétiques, éthiques, sociaux, politiques ou économiques répond-t-elle ? Comment est-elle saisie par les artistes actuels ?
