Appel à projets:
C’est naturel pour un artiste de vouloir marquer l’histoire, d’être reconnu et enregistré pour son travail. En revanche, pour un artiste de participer à l’écriture de l’histoire en général est un objectif différent. La production de la documentation de l’art, et de la documentation comme art, sont des pratiques qui dialoguent et se rapportent au reportage journalistique. Le choix de médium et des méthodes de distribution de la documentation de l’art déterminent sa trajectoire vers le monde et l’avenir. Le rapport entre la documentation et son sujet est plus compliqué que jamais: une installation est diffusée par livestream, l’art en ligne laisse sa trace numérique, les activités quotidiennes sont documentées comme une performance vidéo. Comment est-ce que les méthodes de documentation et distribution de l’art pourraient affecter l’écrit de l’histoire marquée d’aujourd’hui? Comment est-ce que l’histoire d’aujourd’hui sera lue demain?
Nous cherchons des propositions d’artistes utilisant les médiums (mais pas limité à) tel la vidéo, le film, l’art interactif, l’art en ligne, la performance et/ou l’installation. Nous demandons aux artistes de proposer une œuvre à plusieurs niveaux incluant un geste « original », et la documentation de ou par ce geste. Le lieu d’exécution du geste original peut être exécuté hors de l’espace de la galerie (ex: une installation à site spécifique, une performance privée, un endroit géographique éloigné) ; ils doivent toutefois être exécutés durant le temps d’exposition. La documentation de ce geste sera produite par l’artiste et montée dans la galerie avant le terme de l’exposition. Les projets proposés doivent considérer le format de l’exposition. L’usage de la documentation devrait être un aspect central du travail. Pour plus d’information, vous pouvez vous adresser au contact indiqué ci-dessous.
L’exposition est commissionnée par Maggie Flynn pour le programme de mentorat de Le Labo, sous la tutelle d’Alissa Firth-Eagland. Le Labo (www.lelabo.ca) a pour mission de produire et diffuser des projets francophones en arts médiatiques et pratiques interdisciplinaires. Ce projet acceptera des propositions d’artistes francophones et non-francophones. L’exposition se tiendra en avril 2012. Les frais d’artistes et les coûts raisonnables de transport seront payés.
Les propositions doivent inclure:

Appel aux artistes en arts visuels
Le Centre culturel franco‐manitobain vous invite à soumettre une proposition d’exposition en arts visuels pour la période de programmation allant d’août 2012 à août 2013.
À noter : L’utilisation du masculin à pour but d’alléger le texte et désigne à la fois les hommes et les femmes sans discrimination.

Le Centre culturel franco‐manitobain abrite une galerie d’art depuis sa construction en 1974. Celle‐ci occupe 1 550 pieds carrés au rez‐de‐chaussée de l’édifice, au cœur du lieu public. Au cours des années, la Galerie du CCFM a présenté plusieurs expositions importantes pour initier la communauté francophone du Manitoba à une culture visuelle. Le Centre culturel franco‐manitobain est présentement à la recherche de soumissions pour des expositions en arts visuels, pour la période de programmation allant d’août 2012 à août 2013. Tout artiste professionnel ayant terminé sa formation de base, ayant pratiqué son art au moins un an depuis la fin de ses études, et ayant à son actif un corps d’œuvres pour exposition est invité à remettre sa soumission pour une exposition dans la Galerie.
Les soumissions devront obligatoirement inclure:

•  une lettre d’intention (indiquez clairement le nom du projet proposé et son contexte de présentation);
•  une description détaillée du projet;
•  le matériel d’appui et le formulaire de liste des œuvres dûment rempli;
•  un résumé de la philosophie sous‐jacente à votre œuvre;
•  un curriculum vitae et une biographie à jour, comprenant une liste des expositions et l’expérience pertinente;
•  10 à 20 photographies numériques sur CD d’œuvres récentes;
•  les besoins techniques du projet proposé;
•  une enveloppe affranchie pour le retour des documents (si désiré);
•  un dossier de presse (facultatif).
Processus

Les artistes professionnels seront sélectionnés par un jury selon le mérite artistique, tout en respectant le mandat du CCFM, qui est de promouvoir et de parrainer à l’intention de l’ensemble de la population du Manitoba des activités culturelles et artistiques se déroulant en français.
Le CCFM assumera la responsabilité des coûts de base pour la publicité et pour les vernissages d’expositions. Les œuvres devront être encadrées/présentées de façon professionnelle.
Conditions 
Merci de proposer une exposition tenant compte du nombre et de la taille de vos œuvres relative à la superficie globale de la Galerie (1550 pieds carré), les expositions individuelles ou collectives seront acceptées.
Seuls les dossiers complets seront soumis au jury. La présentation de l’exposition est sujette à l’octroi des fonds nécessaires, votre proposition d’exposition peut être déposée au programme de subvention de Conseils des Arts ou toute autre programme de subvention. La Galerie du Centre culturel franco‐manitobain respecte les cachets d’artistes recommandés par CARFAC.

Depuis 25 ans, le centre d’artistes Espace Virtuel fait la promotion du travail des artistes en arts visuels, soutient leurs recherches, agit comme médiateur culturel, stimule l’échange et la réflexion critique autour de l’œuvre et de son créateur, participe à la synergie de son milieu en collaborant avec les organisations possédant des objectifs communs. Point de suspension, la librairie spécialisée du centre, soutient la rédaction et la diffusion de textes d’auteurs et organise des conférences ainsi que des soirées de discussion sur l’art, son marché, ses institutions et sa critique. Pour chaque exposition présentée dans la galerie, la librairie Point de suspension ajoute à ses rayons une sélection de livres liée au contenu du travail présenté.
Espace Virtuel participe à la diversité des pratiques artistiques diffusées en travaillant sans cloisonnement disciplinaire et en soutenant tous les types de productions en arts visuels. Le centre diffuse le travail des artistes de la relève, émergents et établis. Notre direction artistique met l’emphase sur la réactualisation des langages artistiques, la sensibilité du discours de l’artiste et les approches novatrices. Espace Virtuel assure une diffusion représentative des pratiques actuelles.
Appel de dossier:
En vue de la saison 2012-2013, Espace Virtuel invite les artistes professionnels à soumettre leur dossier à son comité de programmation. Il est à noter que le centre envisage une programmation 2012-2013 essentiellement tournée vers des expositions collectives auxquelles s’ajouteront possiblement une ou deux expositions individuelles sur invitation. Ainsi, les dossiers soumis ne doivent pas nécessairement proposer un projet nouveau ou en cours de réalisation, puisque l’ensemble du dossier visuel sera considéré et qu’une œuvre antérieure pourrait se voir sélectionnée par notre comité de programmation. La date limite pour répondre à cet appel de dossier est le 15 février 2012, le cachet de la poste faisant foi du respect de cette date.
Les dossiers doivent contenir :
•    Un curriculum vitae

•    Un texte de démarche artistique

•    Le cas échéant, une description du projet proposé

•    10 à 20 images numérisées d’oeuvres ou de projets antérieurs, sur support CD-ROM ou DVD

•    Une liste descriptive des images

•    Tout autre élément pertinent à l’étude du dossier

•    Une enveloppe suffisament affranchie pour le retour du dossier

Nous invitons les commissaires et les artistes visuels oeuvrant dans toutes les disciplines à faire parvenir des propositions de projets futurs.
La Galerie d’art Louise et Reuben-Cohen est un organisme sans but lucratif, qui a vu le jour en 1964. Un nouvel édifice a été construit en 1980 spécifiquement pour s’adapter aux besoins spéciaux d’une galerie d’art. Cette galerie d’art institutionnelle intervient au niveau de la présentation, de la documentation et de la diffusion de l’art actuel dans un contexte non discriminatoire à l’égard du sexe, de la langue, de l’origine ethnique, de l’orientation sexuelle et du statut social.

Modalités

•    Il n’y a aucune date de tombée pour recevoir les projets.
•    Des accusés de réceptions seront expédiés pour tous les dossiers reçus. Après étude, les dossiers qui nous intéressent seront conservés en filière pour la programmation future.
•    Veuillez noter que la programmation peut s’étaler sur des périodes de douze à trente-six mois.
•    Nous ne communiquerons qu’avec les artistes ou les commissaires dont la proposition aura été retenue.
•    Plan de la superficie des salles pour les expositions temporaires (Format PDF téléchargeable)

Commissaire invité – programmation 2012-2013 / Action Art Actuel
Lieu : Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu (Québec) Canada
Pour une quatrième année consécutive, AAA met ses espaces à la disposition d’un[e] commissaire pour une série d’expositions, lui permettant ainsi de jouer un rôle prépondérant dans l’établissement de sa programmation en lui offrant une tribune souple et expérimentée.
Le ou la commissaire se verra confier un mandat l’élaboration d’une série de quatre expositions regroupées sous une thématique de son choix. Cette programmation pourra compter 1 ou 2 projet[s] de résidence de recherche et de création d’une durée de 6 à 8 semaines. Concernant le choix des artistes, nous favoriserons les propositions qui comprendront un volet performatif et un intérêt pour la réalisation d’interventions extra-muros.

Mathieu Beauséjour, Eric Mattson et Stéphane Bertrand ont participé à ce projet de commissaire invité, en abordant des thématiques et des problématiques distinctes. Art du son, œuvres se déclinant dans le temps, pratiques furtives ou problématiques touchant l’architecture, différentes approches et thématiques ont été présentées au cours des dernières années. Nous vous invitons à prendre connaissance des projets antérieurs afin de proposer de nouvelles avenues.

AAA aborde cette initiative de commissariat par les déplacements réels ou virtuels qu’elle génère, souhaitant ainsi créer une situation qui favorise les échanges entre les milieux. En oeuvrant dans ce contexte, le commissaire en art actuel devient un voyageur qui enrichit sa recherche de repères sur différents territoires et dans différentes communautés, chacun composé d’une grande diversité d’influences et d’enjeux. Grâce à cette expérience, le commissaire indépendant vient construire des ponts et permet à notre organisation d’élargir sa pertinence, mais aussi d’accueillir à l’intérieur de sa communauté une voix extérieure.

Par la nature changeante de l’art, les commissaires peuvent jouer un rôle important en imaginant de nouvelles structures concrètes et théoriques à l’intérieur desquelles les nouvelles pratiques sont reçues par leur public. C’est ce rôle de commissaire comme agent générateur d’échanges que Action Art Actuel tient à mettre en valeur en misant sur cette expérience étalée sur plusieurs années de programmation.

Mandat du commissaire
•    -Proposer une thématique pour une série de quatre expositions;
•    -Élaborer quatre expositions à partir de la thématique;
•    -Faire la sélection des artistes et des œuvres;
•    -Fournir la documentation nécessaire à l’évaluation des projets proposés;
•    -Établir le premier contact avec les artistes et obtenir leur accord (le centre prendra ensuite le relais pour les étapes subséquentes);
•    -Rédiger un texte de présentation de la série [500 mots max.] et un essai critique sur l’ensemble de la programmation [env. 1000 mots]; apporter son soutien à l’équipe d’AAA pour la rédaction des demandes de subventions et des communiqués de presse;
•    -Être présent à l’ouverture de la saison et à chacun des vernissages; se rendre disponible pour des présences médiatiques.

Le commissaire s’engage à venir visiter le centre avant de débuter son travail de programmation afin de prendre connaissance des espaces et de leur potentiel.
La sélection des projets est sous la responsabilité du commissaire. Cette sélection est sujette à l’approbation du centre pour des raisons d’ordre financières, techniques et/ou logistiques.

Calendrier de réalisation
•    -15 février 2012 : Date limite pour le dépôt des candidatures;
•    -29 février 2012 : Sélection du/de la commissaire;
•    -10 mars 2012 : Remise du texte de présentation final du projet de commissariat et confirmation des artistes;
•    -Septembre 2012 : Première exposition, lancement du projet de commissariat;

Action Art Actuel est un centre d’artistes qui se consacre à la promotion et au développement des pratiques en art actuel. Actif depuis plus de 20 ans dans la région de Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu au Québec, AAA agit comme lieu de diffusion et de soutien à la recherche en présentant le travail d’artistes d’ici et d’ailleurs.

Invitation à
La MINUTE VIDÉO FOLIE/CULTURE
Québec, le 31 janvier 2012. Folie/Culture propose à tous — artistes professionnels ou amateurs, membres, proches et intervenants du milieu social — de s’investir dans une expérience de réflexion particulière : réaliser une vidéo d’une minute sur le thème Extase, la vie et autres pratiques extatiques.
À travers la recherche d’un sens à la vie, les réponses viennent indifféremment de la raison pure ou des dérives de la raison et se manifestent sous forme de poésie, de mysticisme, de hurlement, de rage, de burlesque, de symbolisme, de pratiques excessives où la douleur est vécue comme une expérience nécessaire. Nous supposons avec un brin d’ironie que la vie est une pratique extatique; il convient ici d’en explorer d’autres.
Les courts-métrages sélectionnés seront diffusés en octobre 2012 à l’entrée vidéo de l’Œil de Poisson dans le cadre de l’événement Extase, la vie et autres pratiques extatiques.

Programmation régulière & Programme d’été SKOOL

Skol invite les artistes et plus largement la communauté à soumettre des propositions pour des projets de courte ou de longue durée, ou, encore, de propositions qui donnent continuité à des recherches déjà en cours dans notre programmation. À partir de maintenant, les propositions pourront être envoyées tout au long de l’année. Il s’agit dans ce cas d’ouvrir un échange avec les différents professionnels de l’art dont les recherches et l’expérimentation pourront activer différents espaces et produire différentes formes autant dans l’espace de la galerie que hors-les-murs. Il pourra s’agit d’une intervention, d’un partenariat, d’un projet de commissariat, d’ateliers de production, d’un cours de maître, d’une publication, d’un séminaire ou colloque, de performances, conférences, ou projections ponctuelles ou en série, d’une fouille dans les archives, d’une initiative de financement ou même d’un ensemble de ces formes dans un projet d’envergure.

Skol lance également un appel à projets dans le cadre du programme d’été SKOOL, qui s’adresse aux artistes et travailleurs culturels issus de la relève. Les propositions de stages/résidence d’été d’une durée de 10 semaines nous parviendront d’équipes administratives temporaires constituées pour travailler dans le contexte d’un centre d’artistes autogéré. En transformant le centre en lieu d’apprentissage, le programme SKOOL met les ressources du Centre à la disposition d’une équipe qui pourra expérimenter différentes formes de recherche artistique dans un cadre professionnel, et ce, avec l’appui d’un mentor. Les propositions pour le programme SKOOL doivent être envoyées au plus tard le 15 mars 2012, le cachet de la poste faisant foi.

Tous les dossiers (pour SKOOL ainsi que pour la programmation régulière) doivent comprendre :
•    Un texte présentant votre projet de même que son inscription dans votre parcours artistique;
•    Un curriculum vitæ (max. 3 p.) par participant, selon le cas ;

A year long contribution to the Soundasaurus Festival of Multimedia Sound Arts
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Submission is open to local and national sound artists (please note that artists must be Canadian citizens to be eligible for this program).
Deadline: Submissions must arrive by 4:00 on Friday, March 30, 2012
+15 Soundscape: Sound artists from across Canada are invited to submit multichannel sound art proposals for the +15 pedway system located in the EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts (specific location overlooks the woodshop and is located between Calgary City Hall and the Glenbow Museum). The selected piece must be a minimum of 60 minutes in length; the artwork will loop continuously for a period of one year. This project reaches a diverse population of all ages; content must be suitable for public spaces. The selected artist will receive an artist fee of $3000.00 plus necessary travel (within Canada – maximum $500.00) and accommodations in Calgary for up to three nights. The artist must be available to travel to Calgary for the 4th, 5th and 6th of September 2012 and participate in installing their work to ensure that their vision of the piece is being met.

Artists for the show I HAVE ISSUES, March 1st-31st 2012

Submissions Due Date: February 12th, 2012

The Gallery is seeking inspired artists with high quality, turbulent
art relating to deep rooted issues like obsessive compulsive behavior,
admiration and adoration, unrequited love, narcissism, political and
religious experiences, workaholics, self-destruction, celebrations,
traumas, habits and rituals, women’s issues, daddy issues and familial
issues, insomnia, and any other ticks or obsessions with a need for
expression. This group show aims to balance the positive and negative
effects that unique compulsions and obsessions create; and the drive
and creativity that can become the product of these issues. The
Gallery is particularly interested in those unique individuals who are
able to channel their issues into a productive force. An example would
be an artist who experienced a traumatic car accident and now
deconstructs cars and makes the materials into beautiful sculptural
pieces in order to deal with their new found aversion to vehicles.

These art works should be authentic to the individual and their
experiences while maintaining the quality expected in a contemporary
fine art gallery. Art can include paintings, sculptures, video, photo,
words, performance and any other creative outlets possible.

Electricity is Magic Gallery – Call for Works

As we plan our 2012 season, we invite submissions from individual artists, collectives, or curators to submit proposals for the EiM Gallery.  Our space is non-traditional, and as such, we have some unique parameters for artists to contend with.  Our presentation spaces are as follows:

– The Blue Wall.  appx. 5m x 2.5m, appropriate for any wall-based works.  These works should probably look good on blue.

– The Scrim. appx. .7m x 1m, hole in a wall between two rooms, covered with a scrim.  This space will be used primarily for video works.  The Scrim is viewable from both sides, a fact which should be considered when proposing works.

– The Dining Room.  our dining room comes completely empty, and is appx. 4m x 3m.  This space can be used for a large sculptural work, installations, performances, audio work, etc.

– The Backyard.  we have a small, unkempt, mostly concrete-covered backyard, which, legend has it, has a pond hidden somewhere underneath the concrete and planks of wood.  There is a large brick wall at the back of the yard, and four steps leading down from the house.  This space is appropriate for installations, performances, sculptures, etc.

– The Basement.  We have a large, poorly-lit, unfinished basement.  This space is appropriate for installations, performances, sculptures, audio work, etc.

When applying, please include:

1) A description of the proposed piece(s), including proposed presentation space
2) Bio/C.V.
3) Appropriate links, including website, images, publications, etc.
4) If the work you are proposing a new piece, any appropriate diagrams, etc.
5) Dimensions, durations and technical requirements of the proposed piece.

Electricity is Magic was founded in 2009 by Matt Griffin and Eric Powell as a label to release experimental electronic and electroacoustic music.  To date, EiM have released 6 physical and digital records.  Quickly, they expanded their scope to include curatorial and gallery projects, beginning with Vinosonic at Chicago’s Experimental Sound Studio in September 2009.  Since then, EiM have partnered with artists and galleries throughout North America to create performative and time-based events in unconventional spaces and contexts.

In the spring of 2012, EiM are proud to be opening the doors to the Electricity is Magic Gallery, an apartment space at 715 Richmond St., in Toronto.

Our aim with the gallery space is to continue to present works that don’t necessarily fit comfortably within a traditional gallery context.  Artists will be given the challenge of presenting work which engages with or reacts to the living space of the apartment.  We are particularly interested in work which employs some aspect of technological mediation, but not necessarily as the impetus for the piece.  We’re also interested in slow art, which not only requests, but often demands, and always reminds us of the pleasure in sustained viewing of a particular work.

Dear Guerilla readers and supporters:

You may have heard the news that starting with our March 2012 quarterly edition, Guerilla magazine will begin reaching far beyond Ottawa to explore “Canadian culture at ground level.” The publishing philosophy hasn’t changed, but the story possibilities have grown immensely.

Like any organism, to thrive we need to grow. And despite a proliferation of technologies and new media forms, grassroots Canadian culture remains a woefully underexposed natural phenomenon.

Yes, expanding to a cross-Canada scope is somewhat daunting, but at Guerilla we know that we’re not in this alone. From the outset in March of 2004, the magazine has been a collaboration with passionate supporters whose contributions have been fundamental to our longevity. That’s why we’re not hesitating to ask for your help again now.

Please consider sharing your knowledge of and contact information for:
1. Artists and cultural groups to potentially profile or feature in the magazine
2. Freelance writers, photographers, and illustrators who might like to contribute
3. Cultural scene authorities and insiders with in-depth knowledge of their respective communities

What’s appropriate?

Our tag “culture at ground level” remains firmly in place. As such, the magazine will continue to favour stories set in a community context. We’ll publish in-depth, illuminating, and sometimes experimental pieces that present subjects as the naturally occurring and defining features of Canadian communities.

Though we aim to print the magazine again in the future, our ongoing web publishing includes two core content streams:

1. Quarterly editions published in March, June, September, and December
2. Shorter and newsier content published weekly on our g-Gallery page and several times per week on our Blog and Video pages

(Guerilla pays a $50 honorarium to writers, photographers, and graphic artists who make original contributions to our quarterly editions.)

With equal emphasis on the celebrated and the unknown, the historic and avant-garde, we’ll continue to offer profiles, Q&A interviews, essays, analysis and criticism, fiction and poetry, pictorials, transcripts and dialogues, and other emerging forms of material.

By presenting all subject matter with an inclusive and approachable tone, we’ll both engage and challenge with eye-opening stories rooted in a country of untold cultural breadth and depth.

Trinity Square Video’s Themed Commissions
Call for Submission: CENTRE

Trinity Square Video announces a call for submissions to CENTRE, the third and final act of the TSV Commission trilogy, LEFT, RIGHT, CENTER. This commission asks artists to use lens-based material from the Archives of Ontario (134 Ian Macdonald Boulevard) as subject or reference for the production of a 10-minute video or video-based installation* that examines contemporary politics.

Continuing TSV’s celebration of its 40th anniversary as a centre for the production of art, we are looking for three successful proposals to CENTRE. Although selected artists’ projects will be developed through five months of research, development, and production with the Archives and TSV, the initial proposal should display a strong understanding of kind of material that will be used for the final project. Applicants will need to explore the Archives online collection databases and exhibitions: http://www.archives.gov.on.ca

In mid-February, TSV will host an in-house presentation by the Archives of Ontario. Open to all, this general introduction to the Archives is an excellent opportunity for artists to gain an understanding of what this incredible resource can offer them. For CENTRE, we are seeking proposals for the creation of work that investigates “centre” in various ways: the median or the moderate; a fixed point where things pivot; the idea of the institution–centres like the Archives or TSV–as public resources; the privileging of the eye, the power of its vision, and the social or historical weight of its perspective; a nucleus or a beginning.

This is a commission for the production of video art. TSV is seeking submissions that propose to explore pertinent issues related, but not limited, to representation, identity, geography and space, economics, justice, divisions of labour and power, science, history, and philosophy. These works can be critical, humorously self-effacing, discursively political, or experimental in their analysis and construction.

Proposed artworks can employ video through a variety of strategies, including narrative or documentary form, formalist or materialist practices, animation or compositing, non-lens-based video production and motion graphics, and through video installation*.

Selected artists receive:
– $750 in production equipment rentals;
– 40 hours of editing time;
– 2 TSV workshops;
– Support from TSV’s technical and artistic Staff;
– TSV membership or renewal;
– $500 honorarium;
– A public screening/exhibition (October 2012–expected);
– Inclusion in the LEFT, RIGHT, CENTER catalogue (published at the completion of the trilogy)

While each project is created separately, the artists participate in group-critiques of works-in-progress, where they can receive peer-support and feedback.

Submissions will be reviewed by the TSV Programming Committee who will make selections based on the proposed project’s exploration of the theme, CENTRE, as well as its intended examination, experimentation and expansion of video as an art medium.

All Toronto-based emerging, mid-career and established visual artists, video artists, media artists, and filmmakers are welcome to submit proposals to CENTRE. Proposals from those living outside Toronto and surrounding area must ensure that the artist will attend all CENTRE related activities at their own expense.

*Video installations can be proposed as part of CENTRE, although artists are also required to create single-channel versions appropriate for the public screening. Selected artists working in single-channel video or video installation will receive the same resources from TSV, as outlined above.

Appel à projets pour R_minute
Le collectif R recherche des films vidéo destinés à être diffusé sur le mobilier urbain de la ville de Nantes.

Caractéristiques des films de R_minute :

- Le sujet de votre proposition doit tenir compte du contexte urbain de sa diffusion.
- La durée du film doit être impérativement de 55 secondes. Ils ne peuvent être ni plus long, ni plus court.
- Le son de la vidéo ne pourra pas être pris en compte (les écrans de diffusion ne disposent pas de sonorisation).

A noter que vos films seront archivés et présentés sur le site de R à la rubrique R_minute mais également à l’adresse suivante : www.r-minute.fr.

La présentation de votre film pourra être accompagné d’un texte, de votre contact,  d’un lien internet vers votre site…

Description du parc d’écrans de la ville de Nantes :

La ville de Nantes dispose de 7 écrans vidéo de grande taille (3 x 4 m) disséminés dans la ville. Elle dispose également de 150 écrans (15 pouces) dans ses abris bus et de 10 écrans (1 m x 80 cm) présents dans différents lieux institutionnels de la ville. Chaque films sélectionné est projeté en rotation trois semaines durant sur l’ensemble des écrans.

Competition for contemporary art and young artists by Siemens Sanat

The “Borders Orbits” competition which was organized for the first time in 2007 in order to support contemporary art and young artists by Siemens Sanat, one of the significant addresses of contemporary art, will be held this year for the sixth time. Applications for the “Borders Orbits 11-12” competition starts on 16 th January 2012.
It is possible to take part both individually and with group actions in the competition which is open for all undergraduate and postgraduate students regardless of their field of study. The applicants can apply for the competition with the works and suggestions representing themselves. The applicants are required to fill in the application form for the competition on the web site of Siemens Sanat and then convey their application files to Siemens Sanat until 9th March 2012 Friday at 5 pm.
Turan Aksoy, Canan Beykal, Mürteza Fidan, T. Melih Görgün and Dilek Winchester will be in the Jury of the competition which is organized to support young talents and contemporary art.
The artworks of the young artists which are decided to be exhibited after the “Borders Orbits” competition will meet their audience at Siemens Sanat as of May 2012.

Magmart festival offer a wide visibility to all the artists that submit their artworks; we collaborate with many other festivals and videoart networks (at this edition, FONLAD, Oslo Screen festival, FIVA, Art Video Exchange, Athens Video Art Festival, AllArtNow, Activa, http://elmur.net/), and organize some exhibits based on a special format – we have already done “women’s glance” (12 women artists), and in the next days will start “norse video” (6 artists from scandinavian countries + iceland); will follow other specials.

The Festival is open to all international videoartists. 
Partcipation is free.
Between all submitted videos, will be done a final selection based on vote of a Jury composed by experts. The 30 selected artworks will become part of CAM permanent collection.
All sended materials don’t will be return, and will be stored in the Festival’s archive like documentation.
Sending the participation form, the artist accept fully the present rules.
The Jury verdict is incontestable.
The artist accept that his/her own videos will be broadcasted online and offline, on site http://www.magmart.it/ ; he/she accept that, if selected, the video become part of permanent collection of CAM, and should be freely screened CAM rooms
All the videos, selected or not, become part of Magmart’s archive, and can be screened in any other place or event related to Festival, online or offline, with exclusion of any commercial use.
Still-frame from videos can be freely used for the Festival communication, mentioning title and author of artwork.
All rights on videos remain property of author. The author assert, under his/her own liability, the complete right of use on used materials (images, sounds, videos) and that compose the artwork; the author undertake completely the liability for any breach of copyright laws.
To participate is necessary fill out the form available online, http://www.magmart.it/rules.php#sub.  The omission, or the incorrect filling, of one or more parts of form itself, will involve the exclusion of video by selection of Jury.
The possible selection by Jury is in any case subordinate at an essential condition for the proclaim of winners: the author of selected video must send, via ordinary mail, and within midnight of March, 15 2012, the donation act to CAM of the copy of his/her own video, and the hard copy on DVD itself. The donation act don’t underlie in any way a transfer of right, but certify exclusively the willingness of author so that a copy of his/her own video artwork will be permanently keeped – and, with limitations above, utilized – in the permanent collection of CAM.
Without this donation act, the videos will be rule out by group of 30 selected artworks, and replaced by those immediately subsequent in Jury’s ranking.
Any author can participate with max 5 videos.

ANTI is an international contemporary arts festival presenting site-specific works made for public space. Over the past 10 years ANTI has presented live, sonic, visual and text-based art from today’s most exciting and innovative artists. A truly international festival and Finland’s foremost presenter of Live Art, ANTI is a meeting place for artists and audiences fascinated by how art shapes the spaces of everyday life.
We are looking for innovative and exciting live art works for children. ANTI has a long history of presenting ground breaking projects for children and this year our annual call out is focused on finding something truly inspiring. We especially invite proposals from contemporary performance makers who have not made. work for children before but would like to produce something for a young audience. In previous years companies and artists like Gwendoline Robin, Lone Twin and Mammalian Diving Reflex have presented outstanding work for children at ANTI. That’s the tradition we want to continue: great work made by great contemporary artists for children.
Your project can take any form – it may be participatory and children do something with you, or it might be something a young audience encounters by surprise, or anything in between. Your project may last 30 minutes or seven days. It may be for an audience of one, or hundreds and projects should be targeted at specific age groups – from new-borns to teenagers.
ANTI is a site-specific festival – we do not show work in traditional art spaces, neither do we show touring street theatre: all our projects have a direct relationship with the spaces and places they are shown in. When proposing a project please make it very clear where your project would ideally be located, and why.

Trapdoor is announcing the seventh annual Gushul Studio Residency and Collaboration Project. We seek proposals from emerging visual artists working in any media.

The residency seeks to combine the skills, knowledge, histories and varied approaches of two emerging visual artists. At least one artist will be chosen from within Alberta. The other artist will be chosen from outside Alberta.

Artists will be chosen based on the strength and merit of their ongoing production as well as their collaborative abilities. Artists can apply individually and be paired with another artist or they may apply as a team. The two will do a residency together at the University of Lethbridge’s Gushul Studio. One goal of Trapdoor artist-run centre is to help visual artists develop their practice by providing opportunities for creative research and exploration. We see the promotion of emerging artists as a vital role for our organization and an important contribution to the cultural richness of our community.

The Gushul is located in the scenic Crowsnest Pass in the town of Blairmore, Alberta. Trapdoor chose the Gushul as the location for this residency because it is designed to accommodate two working artists and has been successfully utilized for two decades by professional artists and writers from across Canada, the United States, and Europe. It is an exceptional space which meets the requirements of the project and has the added extra incentive of allowing artists-in-residence to interact with and contribute to the vitality of the Crowsnest Pass community. Trapdoor has scheduled the Gushul Studio for July, 2012.

Trapdoor will arrange and advertise an open house during which members of the community can visit the artists in residence. In addition, we will publish a full-colour brochure featuring written and visual documentation of the project.

Trapdoor believes strongly in providing adequate funding for participants. We will cover the rental costs of the Gushul studio and writer’s cottage as well as provide a living stipend and a $750 artist’s fee for each artist.

The Art at Zero KM project is an artist residency organized by Big Bang Cultural Association with the support of the CARIPLO foundation.
The Art at Zero KM project is envisioned as the starting point for the development and enhancement of individual creative skills and as a tool aimed at supporting and sustaining the work of young, emerging artists. During three weeks a group of young artists will share an intense period of creative living and production; participation to workshops and laboratories; creations of new works and meetings with critics and curators. At the end of the residency an exhibition will be organized to give visibility to the young participants’ artistic journey and work.
WORKSHOP/RESIDENCY:
The workshop/residency will take place from July 1 to July 22. The selected artists will lodge at Cascina Comperto in double rooms. Conviviality among the artists is an important aspect of the project. Housing and food are catered for by the organizers, while the costs for realizing the art pieces are to be met by the artists themselves. To work, artists can use the common spaces in the Cascina as well as the surrounding natural spaces. Formative meetings with personalities from the arts world will take place during the residency.
AIMS OF THE PROJECT:
– Enhance the formation of young artists and facilitate their introduction into the art world – Realize art works and site specific installations as an integral part of the residency
- Present the final pieces with a final exhibition
- Publish a catalogue with the pieces
- Enrich the participants’ relational portfolio by creating links with critics, gallery owners and other public and private institutions.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
The residency is free of charge and is intended for 8 artists between the ages of 20 and 35 who intend to work in a natural context and to develop projects connected to folk, cultural, landscapist memory of the surrounding territory. The students or young artists interested in participating will have to submit their application by 20 MAY 2012.

The Artist’s Haven – A Residency at The Haven, Gabriola Island
We are pleased to announce the first artist’s residency at The Haven. Throughout its history The Haven has offered programs that nurture and cultivate creativity. The Haven has also been a place where artists have found inspiration and a welcoming place to practice their craft. Now for the first time there will also be an opportunity for artists of all disciplines to apply for a residency program. The Artist’s Haven residency program provides accommodation for a two-week period in the beautiful setting of Gabriola Island. The Haven is delighted to be offering this opportunity in partnership with the Gabriola Arts Council.
Applications accepted from artists of all disciplines who reside in the Pacific Northwest area: British Columbia; Alberta; Saskatchewan; the Yukon; the Northwest Territories; Washington State; Oregon. Selections will be made by a peer review panel.

Développer et soutenir la création en accueillant des artistes en résidence, c’est créer les conditions favorables pour la recherche et la création.

La ville de Grande-Synthe offre à l’artiste la possibilité de poursuivre sa démarche dans un contexte culturel favorable. Le dispositif de création permet de trouver un appui technique, financier et moral pour se consacrer pleinement à son travail artistique.
Au cours de sa résidence, l’artiste développe sa démarche en vue d’une exposition personnelle au sein de la Galerie Robespierre. Il peut aussi proposer un travail spécifique en fonction du tissu social et urbain de la ville, pouvant conduire à une exposition hors les murs.
Quelle que soit l’option retenue, le dispositif de création est à l’écoute et envisage la résidence comme un échange réciproque entre l’artiste et le dispositif.

Dans le cadre de la programmation 2012-2013 de la galerie Robespierre, la direction du développement culturel met en place son appel à projet, afin d’identifier et de mettre en place de nouvelles résidences au sein de la programmation artistique.

From the beginning, the art-making process has been the highest priority at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, where both the atmosphere and environment offer ideal situations for creative growth and experimentation. The Bemis Center provides artists-in-residence with the gift of time, space and financial support.

SPACE:
* The Bemis Center is housed in two urban warehouses totaling 110,000 square feet in
downtown Omaha, NE.
* Each artist is provided with a generously sized live/work studio with a private bathroom
and kitchen, 24 hour access to facilities including a wood shop, approximately 9,000
square feet of installation spaces and a large sculpture fabrication facility.
* The newly renovated 10,000 square foot Okada Sculpture Facility features 12 foot
garage doors, a kiln room with a 31″W x 42″L x 27″D Bailey electric kiln, a clay mixing
room, 176 square foot ventilated room, welding facilities and 6,000 square feet of open
space.

The Center for Contemporary Arts Celje is the central institution in the Savinjska region involved in the reaserch, presentation, development and promotion of local, national and international contemporary visual art. It includes three exhibition spaces (Gallery of Contemporary Art, Likovni salon Gallery and Racka Gallery) and carries out an educational program, outreaching with its activities in the regional framework, while at the same time functioning as a meeting place of local and international artistic events. We maintain active contacts with the rest of the world through our residency program AIR CELEIA, which has been active since 2005 and is dedicated to both artists and curators.
The AIR CELEIA program is conceived on the basis of a reciprocal model that enables the residential artist to become acquainted with, get in contact with, exchange experiences with and get involved in the local artistic community, offering at the same time local artists the possibility of establishing new connections and forms of collaboration, or of a potential presentation of themselves and their work internationally.
The Center for Contemporary Arts is publishing an open call for collaboration in the AIR CELEIA 2012 program. The selected artist will be offered a free two-month stay in our residential flat (which is located in the city center in the immediate vicinity of the Center for Contemporary Arts and the local artistic district; the residence includes a kitchen, a studio, a bedroom, a bathroom and Internet) and a grant of € 600 per month, with travel expenses to be covered by the artist. The Center for Contemporary Arts will arrange for the artist to connect with the city and establish contacts with the local artistic community as well as get acquanited with the artistic events in the local and wider environment.
Since the model of the residential AIR CELEIA program is actively connected with the city and its structure, the selected artist will be expected to make a project, organize a public event, action or performace at any location in the city. The artist will also have the possibility to present himself in an artist talk in one of the exhibition spaces of the Center for Contemporary Arts.

International Open Call for Residencies
KUNSTrePUBLIK is happy to announce its first OPEN CALL for residencies at ZKU (Zentrum fuer Kunst und Urbanistik / Center for Art and Urbanistics) in Berlin.
The call is directed at artists, scholars and practitioners (curators, activists, autodidacts etc.) interested in cross-disciplinary theory and practice dealing with the city.
ZKU was founded by several artists from the Berlin-based artists‘ collective KUNSTrePUBLIK, offering residencies for artistic practice at the interface of urban research. Following a three year process of negotiations and reconstructions, and with a lot of support from friends and colleagues (Thanks!), the ZKU will open its doors for residents in June 2012. Located in a former railway depot surrounded by a newly landscaped public park, ZKU seeks to develop projects, co-produce knowledge and share values created through exchange. The site has been established through a longterm lease allowing independent research, programming and production. ZKU focuses on the processes that come from, and feed into, the particular contexts of its residents’ practice, whether they be locally-defined situations or international discourses.

Dates and duration of the residencies
Starting from June 2012-on, with residencies from 2 to 12 months. We will contact applicants within four weeks after the application deadline.
Applicant Requirements
Artists should be working professionally in their fields, with a broad range of projects and exhibition experience.
Scholars are expected to have attained a level equivalent to a master’s degree, and preferably to have some years of professional experience.
Practitioners should have a broad range of professional experience in their fields.
Artists, scholars and practitioners can apply individually or as a group. We encourage group applications consisting of artists working with scholars or practitioners from other disciplines.
Grants
ZKU is partly funding the ‘Open Call.’ Unfortunately, full grants are currently not available.
ZKU will support the invited residential fellow in their efforts to secure funding through external grants by providing the fellow with an official invitation and identifying relevant funding networks. The official invitation is valid for at least a year, allowing the fellow to find matching funds.
Costs

Depending on the size of the studio-apartement and the length of your stay, the resident’s expenses will be between 470 and 880 euro a month, covering the costs of your studio-apartment and allowing you to use ZKU’s spatial facilities (open space, communal kitchen, conference space, basement and workshop spaces, roofed terrace). You will also be able to present your work and will be part of our regular publication.
You should calculate an additional minimum of 400 euros per month for yourself, covering food, transportation and leisure in Berlin.
